Reserved room with balcony, did not get balcony

My reservation clearly states I reserved a room with a balcony, which according to the common meaning of balcony and its dictionary definition, is on an upper level and is surrounding by some type of railing. Instead, my room was on the ground level and had something that might qualify as a stoop, if I'm being generous. The table and two chairs were crammed behind a large shrub, which was bizarre and made the furniture unusable. When I emailed the hotel to request compensation, they refused and clearly had not read my email carefully because they said I wasn't guaranteed a particular view, when what I said was my reservation was for a room with a BALCONY. I never said I was guaranteed a certain view. Know that if you reserve a room that says you'll have a balcony, it might be a total lie and the hotel won't even acknowledge their mistake. Great way to treat customers. A room with a balcony is worth more than a room without one, and I consider myself ripped off.

    Lovely stay - def reco

We had a very lovely and pleasant stay at the Westin. Honestly nothing bad or negative to report. Reason I didn’t give it a five star is that there was nothing “above and beyond” to make it a five, but very very solid 4. We requested bldg 3 and got it - lovely ocean view from second floor…right by quiet pool which was our go-to spot until we discovered the Infiniti pool that had nicer views. Umbrellas were a-plenty and didnt feel the need to rush down and grab spots at the pool. Maybe Sept is a bit slower but it didn’t seem overly crowded. Studio room was perfect for my husband and I. Was impressed with full fridge, dw and cooktop…even had washer and dryer. We grabbed groceries and alcoholic beverages at Costco and local Foodland - waaaaay cheaper than buying food and alcohol at Hotel. We’d make our own coffee, had yogurts for breakfast and deli meat and cheese for lunches. Hubby worked out each morning in the gyms and thought it was great facility. I went for walks around the golf corse and parks - great sidewalks and multi-use paths. We did walk down to beach from hotel. Even walked further to Anini Beach (3 mile RT). Not bad but very steep path and would be hesitant to do if wet or slippery. Easier just to take the car. Went to dinner in either hanalei or princeville each night - beach day trips each day. Staff was very friendly and thought they did amazing job keeping up with nene poop (per other reviews). Very very lovely trip. We will def return!

    Excellent Customer Service

Could not have asked for better customer service and understanding to make a last minute reservation! The night staff, Anela, was particularly so helpful and kind to help me with the reservation. I felt like i was keeping her attending to other patrons waiting in line and she was reassuring and told me not to worry and to take my time. So thankful for her kindness when i was already in a state of anxiousness, due to a mistake in reservations at a previous resort that same day.

    underrated resort

Underrated resort - was very clean (no nene poop as mentioned in many reviews), great infinity pool on one side of the resort - loved the pathway down to the beach (about a 10-12 min walk on sunny day), and the games for kids and activities (koi pond, ping pong, billiards, corn hole, minigolf, sundaes, dole whip, painting, lei making) and the nanea restaurant has good quality food, access to the 1 hotel at hanalei bay, the kauai north shore is beuatiful with bouts of rain but to us that was great because it keeps things cooler, has much more chill vibe. some minor downs: many units dont have an ocean view, the market doesnt have a "lot" of items like other westin resorts, expensive food in princeville

    Bed bugs in heaven

BEWARE OF BED BUGS!!! The resort is absolutely lovely, great pools, condos are big and comfy. Unfortunately, we encountered bed bug infestation in our 2-bedroom condo in Building 6. When I called the management, they were dismissive and in denial. This is a horrible way to deal with a public health issue such as bed bugs. Anybody staying at this resort in 2025, take all the necessary precautions, avoid Building 6 at least.
