    Birthday Celebration

We visited Secrets Baby Beach for my wife's birthday. This place is wonderful. The staff made the visit so special. Our butler Jeff is one of the best we've experienced. He is world class. Carla at the Preferred Breakfast restaurant was awesome. The resort is clean, easy to get around, and lively. The views over Baby Beach are worth the price.

Wonderful time report + tips for new visitors + photos of Breakfast Buffet

Frankly I was a bit apprehensive after reading some of the reviews, however our experience was wonderful. What follows explains why and tips for new visitors. Overall The resort is clad in marble, and everything looks spectacular. As you enter the lobby, look at the two pools of water on either side of the entrance - gorgeous tile, perfectly clear water, bordered with beautiful plants. Everywhere you go its clean and sparkling (and you see many people working at all time to achieve this). Without exception, everyone we dealt with was personable and friendly. In the evening after dinner there was some sort of live music near the Prelude bar, followed at 9PM by a show on the lobby level. There was even more later but we were too tired to avail ourselves of it. The bars are stocked with top shelf liquor, and wine and beer on tap. Service was great: in addition to the bar tenders servers wander the Prelude area and we never lacked for a drink. The rooms have pillow top beds and we slept like babies every night. The waterfall shower floods you, unlike the dribble that you normally find in a US hotel. Room service came everyday with fresh towels and Nespresso coffee pods. Aruba tap water is amazing but if you want bottled water they'll bring that as well. Food We arrived Thanksgiving evening, and they offered special buffet with turkey in the Market Cafe (which is normally closed for dinner)—that was a really nice touch! The breakfasts and lunches in the Market Cafe were phenomenal. Every dish I sampled was fresh and well presented - I never had a single item that was wilted or looked old. This is not your parent's buffet. For dinner, there are four specialty restaurants, and we visited each one once. The food was to our liking and everything was cooked as requested. In addition, we never had to wait for a 6-6:30 seating. Beach Secrets sits just inland from Baby Beach, a lagoon at the Southern tip of Aruba. We spent some beach time every day but one. Aruba is too windy for normal beach umbrella, so we brought our own Shibumi which works well in even high winds. The Secrets "spot" is on the left side close to the channel feeding the lagoon. The staff will provide you with a beach chair or lounge. They also supply cool water, beer, and soda. Transit We originally thought of using a service, but in the end rented a small car for the same price. We did not find driving difficult - most every road is two lane with a 35 MPH speed limit (max is 90 KM/H, about 55 MPH). That let us drive to a tour, and to explore the Northern hotel area—after seeing how crowded and busy it was we really appreciated the quiet and relaxed Secrets environment. Tips - bring lots of 5s, 10s, and 20s for tipping - if the Prelude bar is busy, walk up the stairs to the Rendezvous bar in the lobby (or possibly the Desires bar, which we never visited) - bring a night light for the bathroom - we had read that the pool side rooms can be noisy so we got an Ocean view one. While there is loud music during the day, after 6PM the pool area was empty and quiet. - one morning it was pouring rain, and we found that the 3rd floor connects to the lobby, so you can get to the Coca Cafe (which is open 24 hours a day). There is no covered path to the restaurants: using the first floor, walk to the exit closest to the Prelude bar then sprint across. - if you plan to visit the beach often, invest in a Shibumi (you can rent covered booths but I heard it was expensive). The hotel staff helped us raise our Shibumi as they've seen them before. Wine lovers may want to request the Market Cafe staff to fill a thermos before you head for the beach, or if you come up for lunch as we did, get it filled there or at a bar before returning. The Pièce de résistance - A Fish Extravaganza! The South side channel connecting the Caribbean to the Baby Beach lagoon is filled with fish and the water is clear. Suggest you have water shoes (the person who tipped us to this did it with bare feet) and a snorkel and mask. From the Southern side of the Baby Beach lagoon, walk along the dirt road/path staying as close as possible to the channel. About 500 meters (1/4 mile), the path ends at a small sandy beach. Walk far across the channel, then because the water is not deep there, towards the lagoon 20 meters (yards) until there is enough depth to swim. As you progress through the channel, there is a deeper section that wanders back and forth where you want to stay. We did this swim three times: once at high tide, and twice at low tide when we saw more fish. Seriously - hundreds and hundreds! This was one of the highlights of our trip!

Celebrating 40 at Secrets Baby Beach and It Completely Stole My Heart

I came here to celebrate my 40th birthday, and this trip was amazing from the moment we arrived. The entire resort has such a calm and peaceful atmosphere. Everything was extremely clean, modern and beautifully maintained. I also loved that it is in a quieter part of Aruba, away from traffic and crowds, which made the whole stay even more relaxing. I booked the Preferred Club and I am really glad I did. We visited the Preferred Club Lounge almost every night for a nightcap and the drinks and service were great. Juleane was my favorite bartender in the Preferred Club Lounge. She did such a great job crafting different cocktails and her energy made every visit enjoyable. The Preferred Club Bar and the Infinity Pool were also some of my favorite places to relax. The view of Baby Beach from the pool is beautiful and the swim up bar made everything even more convenient. I have to mention the staff because they truly made this trip special. Erwin, our butler, was genuinely the best I have ever had at any resort. He was kind, attentive and really helped make my birthday feel memorable. Sol helped me even before I arrived. She handled my upgrade and the birthday decorations in my room and made me feel welcomed from the start. The food at the resort was excellent. The Market Cafe buffet became my favorite spot because everything was fresh and flavorful. Tierra Restaurant was also a great dining experience. Our waitress, Shamila, was amazing and had wonderful menu suggestions. Hitmitsu was another highlight. Julio made the hibachi dinner entertaining from beginning to end. Coco Cafe was a place I visited several times. It stays open 24 hours and they had the best chai tea latte and delicious pastries. The drinks and entertainment throughout the resort were very good. Jean at the Prelude Bar made great drinks and kept everyone smiling. The entertainment exceeded my expectations. The violinist was incredible and played so many great songs. The live band did an excellent job keeping the crowd involved. Our room was spacious, spotless and felt brand new. The balcony overlooked the pools and Baby Beach and the view was beautiful both morning and night. Service across the entire resort was excellent. Everyone was friendly and helpful and we never waited long for anything. Even room service came quickly. Overall, I feel like I received great value for what I paid. Everything felt high quality and well worth it. This was one of the best birthday trips I have ever taken and I would absolutely come back.
