Rooms are standard but clean. Cleaning staff do a good job. Food was good. Staff in the buffet are great. Carlos at lunch and dinner was amazing. Went above and beyond with making us happy. Never even had to ask for a drink, picking up plates nothing. Definitely download the Riu app. It makes every a lot easier.

Adult Only Trip to Dominican
Really enjoyed our experience at Riu Republica, Punta Cana and the Dominican in general. Friendly staff. Helpful. Beautiful hotel. Great venue right on the beach. Would definitely return to hotel and Dominican Republic. Plenty of choices. Majority of restaurants are not concerned with the dress code.

Some stuff we're nice some stuff we're not nice, the food could have been alot better, better cooked. The night chef that made pizza/ pasta was very rude and didn't put much effort into cooking the food properly. Overall had a good time but the food could have been better.

Dec 01, 2025Severe Hygiene Issues and a Very Disappointing Experience
We stayed at Riu Republica for two weeks, and sadly our experience was extremely disappointing due to serious hygiene problems. In the main restaurant we repeatedly saw mice running around, as well as mouse traps placed openly. This alone is unacceptable in a hotel of this standard. After a few days both my husband and I became extremely ill. For one full week out of our two-week holiday, we suffered from severe diarrhoea, vomiting and very high fevers (up to 39.5°C). Even water wouldn’t stay down. We strongly believe this was caused by the food, which was often lukewarm and did not appear to be handled with proper hygiene. What was meant to be a relaxing holiday turned into a frightening experience. I even had to fly back to the UK while still violently sick, with a 39.5°C fever. There are a few positives: • The parties and evening entertainment were fantastic. • The atmosphere at the pool events was great. However, the staff were very focused on tips. It became uncomfortable at times, as we constantly felt pressured to keep cash on us. This was my second visit to the Dominican Republic, but after this experience I am genuinely afraid to return. I sincerely hope the hotel takes immediate action to improve hygiene, as no guest should go through what we did.
