Enjoyable week
Visited on 17th November for a week .. hotel is gorgeous and everywhere is spotless don’t think I’ve been anywhere so well run. The staff are incredible, so helpful and always willing to help if you needed anything. Food is lovely always something there for me to eat as I’m not very adventurous but my husband said the fish selection was great. Rooms are nice and again spotless. Entertainment was ok same as any other AI hotel but people seemed to enjoy it. Although not branded drinks the substitutes were fine. Shuttle bus to Funchal was great, coach took you and picked you up …great service. But it was the staff who made the holiday ..they were lovely always smiling and having a joke. Maderia is a beautiful island I will definitely return Big shout out for Mauricio is restaurant and also a young fella with glasses (sorry didn’t get his name) in restaurant teaching us Portugueses ..so funny.

Fabulous Hotel
Stayed at RIU Madeira 1st week in November can not fault this hotel in any way or shape. From the 1st day to the last every member of staff was smilling and friendly. The hotel itself is clean and tidy throughout from rooms to public spaces. The food in the main buffet room was very good, most things like fish and meats cooked in front of you and everything foe everyone both my adult sons and husband ar really fussy eaters but not once did the complain about the choice of food. The Kulinerium Resteraunt was ok but for me who is also fussy preferd the Buffet meal as I don't like food with things like mayo and nutmeg and as this is not put on the menu when you order as the rice pudding I had a lot of nutmeg so I didn't even have a spoon of it. But that is my preference, not the resteraunts fault. Drinks soft ar branded, and super boc larger on tap and coffee machines in the main bar and pool bar for self serve had good quality coffee and hot chocolate for a bean to cup machine was not bad at all. Only complaint but this is personal preferance and does not deserve to lower the score, is for us the location, for my son and me was ok as we had no intention of leaving the hotel for the duration but for my husband and other son they prefer to be in Funchal itself as they like to walk out the hotel and wonder around Funchal. They had a courtesy bus at 9.30, 10.30 and 11.30 am to Funchal and return 3, 4 and 5 pm. And we paid for a sea view room for us and a side sea view room for our sons wich we got on the 5th floor, but we were each end of the hotel not together and the view was a large white flat roof, would be better if it was painted green maybe or blue just to make the view slightly better. Shame this hotel was not in Funchal I would 100% stay again

Great value and wonderful service
We booked this through Tui. Have to say the hotel exceeded expectations. Great all round, brilliant service at every stage. Spotlessly clean. And the food (good variety) and drinks very good and constantly available. We’ll certainly be back as great value for money which you can’t say often these days. Enjoy the breakfasts. They’re very good indeed.

Great hotel
Stayed here for a week, hotel is amazing, clean and staff are wonderful, Rui in the main Restaurant is great, friendly and funny and a great asset to the hotel. Weather wasn’t the best while we were here but made the best of a bad thing. Only bad point is that we are very isolated, being her In October lot of places close early. Definately use the courtesy bus into Funchal well worth it. Maybe think of renting a car if your nerves can survive it

What a view!
First time to Maderia and the RIU Maderia hotel. Wonderful welcome from the exceptional Reception team - special shout out to the fabulous Luisana, and Bruno and David (we enjoyed the laughs, we hope you get White and Neon party nights one day! ) and Alejandro - all of the reception team have been incredibly helpful. Housekeeping excellent - such a speedy delivery of extra pillows and additional towels - always respectful of when to make up room via notes on door. All meals buffet. Breakfast varied and lovely. Lunch and dinner incredibly repetitive and average quality - (basic) pizza, (overcooked) fish, (reheated) pasta, soups, meats and salads. Cake desserts, ice cream and cheeses. Fruit juices, Wines and water plentiful. Yes, you can always find something to eat and clearly food is being creatively redesigned/replated as a new dish (rather than wasted) but it is mostly bland (to me). Waiting staff and cooks do work incredibly hard though and special thanks to Fernanda who always made us laugh! Hotel offers a complimentary shuttle coach to Funchal (approx 20 min journey) three times AM and collection, three times PM. Do book ahead - this is an excellent service (taxi approx €25 to Funchal). Bus stop is opposite the hotel and very reasonably priced. Small supermarket approx 5 mins walk from hotel. Pools nice (very cold or cold), indoor poor great to have also. Always loads of outside loungers available when we visited. Sadly smoking permitted everywhere always disappointing and wish Hotel management would designate areas to save us all participating! Entertainment was varied (band/singer/magician/dancers/opera/circus .. ) from poor to good - local folklore show was the best evening. Nice to have but sadly most evenings not many guests stay for singers. For an All Inclusive, this hotel is fair value (could be incredible if they improved food quality and variety) - Rui Maderia’s selling point is the stunning location overlooking endless sea with lapping waves, albeit somewhat isolated - sea views did make up for the negatives for us. Management should be proud of staff. Would I return? Unlikely as other places to visit in the world.
