In from San Diego for the holiday....
This is a gem that doesn't have a personality as a resort and doesn't pay attention to the guest experience to be consistent or self-aware. I was in town to watch my friends play tennis and should have gone with location vs. my alliances to IHG since Kimpton is my favorite hotel brand when I travel for pleasure. If you are going to use the text feature to support and communicate with guests, then do it effectively or not at all. There were a few key people at this place that made the stay more enjoyable but there were also a lot of misses. Shout outs to David (front desk), Leonard, Dorian (valet) and the Thanksgiving Day bartender at Circa 59 (can't recall his name) but otherwise the staff was lackluster, and some were rude or dismissive completely. From a room perspective, I had my service animal labradoodle with me and had a good room with a little courtyard facing outside which he and I both enjoyed except for the scraped patio that looked old and worn out. There were no towels at the pool because lots of families with kids took them all. Although, when I finally got one (30 min later after texting) the girl or woman said "one per guest" when clearly no one was adhering to that rule staring her right in the face. I didn't get my IHG gold status late checkout on either day (a first ever) which seemed odd since the hotel did not feel crowded for the massive size and sheer # of rooms available. The campus is huge, and the staff took no interest in the fact that I had a dog and they stuck me in the center of the building which didn't make common sense at all. My door to my patio didn't lock and when I tried to use the phone in my room to alert someone (and try to order food) none of the lines literally dialed anyone. They just beeped like a busy signal does. Overall, valet was the nicest part of my stay which isn't saying much. I would recommend looking for elsewhere unless you like crowded & loud pool areas without food & beverage services. The room was inexpensive yet the service fees added on aren't. Looking back, for a holiday weekend, I should have known the service and accommodations would match as it was too good to be true that they would be nice and should have spent more $$.

Extremely poor experience! Avoid if possible!
I had a disappointing stay at this hotel with my family and two other families. The check-in experience was average, with the front desk staff taking the time to explain the dinner and breakfast options available from 7 am to 11 am. However, in the morning, when we arrived at 9:30 am, we were informed there was a 30-minute wait and that no one was being seated. Despite this, we noticed three other people being seated by the lady at the restaurant reception. After 15 minutes, she informed us that we couldn’t be seated because we were a large party and they only had one chef, even though we explained we were three separate families totaling 11 people, including five kids. She was unaccommodating and rude, even interrupting our conversation to address the guest behind me. She insisted that a reservation was required for 11 people, which was never mentioned during check-in. We travel frequently and have stayed at many properties, but this was by far the worst experience we’ve had. When we spoke to the hotel reception, they informed us that no advanced reservation was needed and that the restaurant was managed separately from the hotel. That night, I ordered fish tacos, which caused my lips and mouth to itch intensely, despite not having any seafood allergies. They removed it from the bill and had me discard it in front of them! Overall, a disjointed hotel management and restaurant management, and front office unable to resolve, had us check out early and go out for breakfast as kids were starving! Avoid this property if possible, if one is looking for a great family experience.

0 Stars, Filthy, Outdated, unsanitary
Very outdated, extremely filthy carpets, hallways and rooms, health department needs to shut this place out, the carpets reek and stains everywhere. We were in Building 5, outlets were out of order, they didn’t even stock soaps in the bathroom. There is no phone in the rooms to call the front desk. Absolutely terrible place, avoid at ALL COST!!!

Extraordinary Staff Service at the Riviera
I had a wonderful time at this hotel. The staff is extraordinary! I had outstanding service from David W. and the bartender at night. Dorian at the entrance door was wonderful and always greeted us with a smile. Diego was fantastic and helped me with checkout. David W. went above and beyond and helped me with my luggage and navigating the expansive grounds. Amazing service. Great views! Great price! Thank you to the amazing staff. A+
