Great place to center your Amalfi Coast vacation

As a Hilton Honors Gold member, we stayed at the Hilton Sorrento Palace and La Cocumella Hilton affiliated) back to back. Both were great in different ways. The Hilton Sorrento Palace was modern, convenient and has great views from above the town. The walk down to town is 10 minutes to the edge and 15-20 to the docks. There is a hill but it’s not bad, and with the cost of Sorrento taxis we walked to town at least 8 different times during our stay. It has a great balance between being near the action, yet quiet enough to not feel overcrowded We had a superior sea view room which provided a nice balcony with a view for coffee in the morning. As a Gold member, buffet breakfast was included and it was incredible. A few days we didn’t even need lunch we were so stuffed from breakfast. The pool seemed crowded and active. There are also tennis courts on property. Overall, a great hotel for families or couples and for serving as a central point for visiting other parts of Amalfi Coast (Positano, Capri). It’s modern/clean enough to make you want to be there, but also not “special” enough or expensive enough that you feel bad or don’t want to do day trips away from the hotel.

    A true Gem!

What an amazing experience from the moment we checked in until we left. All the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The rooms are clean, bright and have all you need to organize yourself for your stay. Housekeeping came by twice a day and the evening check was to refresh our towels. Since the weather was extreme hot the extra towel service was great as well at the excellent cooling AC. We are Diamond members and were able to get a free breakfast each morning. The breakfast was outstanding and was a buffet. I typically am not a fan of buffets but the Hilton out did themselves. There were multiple expresso/coffee machine around the room as well as several make your own fresh squeezed orange juice. There were so many food choices: traditional American breakfast items, pastry and bread tables, European breakfast tables and a local Sorrento breakfast items. There were plenty of staff to assist. We also had access to the Executive lounge and it was always filled with cold beverages to drink after a long day of sightseeing. Each evening there was a happy hour with alcohol and appetizers. We have been at many Hiltons through the years and this hotel is a gem in the Hilton collection. Looking forward to coming back!

    Excellent- Hilton Sorrento Palace

We recently returned from the Hilton Sorrento Palace (08/09/25-08/14/25) and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND staying in this hotel. From the moment we got there to the moment we left the staff very courteous, outgoing and friendly. They wet out of their way to make our stay very comfortable. When we first arrived I was not feeling well and the our room was not ready. Carolina at the front desk saw this and gave us a temporary room so we could lie down until our room was ready. As far as the room we had a Junior suite with a sea view and the view could not have been more spectacular. We were even able to see the fires burning on Mount Vesuvius . They were very accommodating in helping us plan tours. We spoke to many other guests who expressed the same sentiments.

    A+ all around

Hilton Sorrento was great. The kids loved the pools. The staff was fantastic, esp. the general manager who gave us a very nice upgrade! Breakfast was very good with lots of options. We ate at the restaurant under the citrus trees for dinner and that was excellent. Rooms were very nice and clean. Views are magical too!

    Lovely Hotel Lovely Staff

Arrived in Naples usual queues for airport security, when we got to the baggage carousel our bags had just been slung off the carousel due to the time in passport control. It’s quite a walk to the bus with luggage , we would usually get a taxi but taxis are so expensive in Italy and the journey takes about an hour and a half to get to Sorrento and it’s definitely a white knuckle ride , if you are of a nervous disposition do not sit at the front. Once we arrived at our hotel The Hilton Palace Sorrento. The check in was smooth and well managed and our bags were transferred to our rooms by the porter. The food in the hotel is very good especially breakfast there are lots of choice and all cooked fresh. There are a number of pools with also a pool for kids and a kids club. It’s the same old problem though beds being reserved and very uncomfortable and no one on them for hours. There is also a rooftop pool but this is chargeable 32 euro’s per person opens at 11 and shuts at 5. Comfy beds and cabana’s with a good food and drinks menu this worked out about 300 euro for a family of 4 for the day. The waiting staff are all very accommodating and attentive as are the front of house staff. Big shout out to Luca & Guzepi working behind the bar. Sorrento center is about a 10 minute walk from the Hilton all down hill and to be honest the walk back uphill isn’t that bad as some make out. Day trips to Ana Capri and Capri. Ferry from Sorrento port family of 4 160 euro return about a 35 minute crossing. Capri is beautiful but , busy , hot and very expensive. Expect to pay 10 euro for a small beer 15 euro small glass of wine. A must is the stairlifts at the very top of Ana capri the views are breathtaking, there is a small restaurant at the top which serves drinks snacks etc. We also did Pompeii by train get the express train and not the slow train from Sorrento, cost about 60 euro return , just be very mindful of pick pockets they are everywhere on the train working in gangs. Entrance into Pompeii about 50 euro for a family of 4 Pompeii is extremely hot and sturdy shoes are a must. Sorrento its self is beautiful lots of shops , restaurants and bars - night out family of 4 with taxi one way about 200 euros. All taxis seem to charge the same rate of 25 euros even if you only go 1/2 mile never paid any less. Mosquitoes are very active all day , also at night due to the restaurants packing everyone in it’s a mosquito feast, do not forget your protection or you are in for a miserable time. One thing to remember if you are traveling with small children, in my opinion I would say this is more of a city break and definitely not a beach break , would I come back maybe for a 3 to 4 night break 2 weeks is far too long in a very hot city with young teenagers.
