Hula Hulas is a locally inspired creative-casual restaurant and bar serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. We are nestled within the Grand Naniloa Hotel in beautiful Hilo Bay, Hawaii, boasting expansive views of the reef-lined bay and surrounding island. We’ve provided the perfect setting for Hula Hulas’ “farm to fork” cuisine, warm hospitality and a vibrant bar and lounge.

Dec 04, 2025The Grand Naniloa Hotel Hilo was a great place to stay while at a business event held in the Crown Room. Location can't be best.
Cute older hotel but well maintained, clean and you can't beat the hospitable staff. Our team will be back again in 2026!

Dec 02, 2025Tale of Two Hotels
Tale of two Hotels: First room was ocean view in larger tower. Small room, outdated bathroom and worst was water pipes running along inside of the room's wall that rana and clunked all night long. It was unbearable. Little sleep. Went to desk i n the morning and staff was great about it - switched rooms with an upgrade to an ocean view with balcony. Room larger, beautifully updated and NO NOISE - except for the waves! It was wonderful. Drinks at bars great, small pool, free golf (greens horrible), close to a fun downtown area. It's obvious it's an aging hotel from an infrastructure standpoint but we got it at a reasonable price. Beaches a few miles south on coast good snorkeling, lots of turtles. One very negative is hotel parking. All valet - including the dirt lot across the street. Ridiculous. we did park on the street several nights. Used valet the first night only and got charged two full days of valet. An obvious money grab.

A quick over night stay with lots of amenities to sample but o ly valet parking
The experience was from HH program a quick fly over to view Kilauea volcano from HNL after hearing 11/25 eruption Hotel in great location quiet and presume even numbered rooms have view of bay very nice with balcony rooms simple table chairs very nice bed- king. Shower 5th floor had some slight lower pressure when room near ran water initially. Single area for elevator but 3 available not walking to the end other side of hotel no elevator. Also ice room on each floor but ice machine did not work on my floor. Walking other floors often saw carpet seems old or unraveled indicating carpet upgrades …. Reason for review is the food reasonable by hawaii standards but very tasty well presented and delicious … i /we would venture again to be on hilo side even over waikuloa kona side

Nov 30, 2025Outdated rooms with roaches
We had a very disappointing stay at the Grand Naniloa Hotel. We found cockroaches in our 5th-floor room, and although the staff said they could spray, it was already 9 PM and we would’ve had to leave the room for several hours, so nothing could be done that night. We also requested every-other-day cleaning, but when we returned at 8 PM on the second day, the room hadn’t been cleaned at all. Someone eventually came just to swap towels and take out the trash. The hotel itself feels very outdated, with stains and worn areas in the room.

Beautiful grounds, great room, great staff
We stayed four nights. We had an ocean view lanai room on the seventh floor overlooking Hilo. The grounds are magnificent. I never swam I. The pool rather enjoyed the lagoons. Sea turtles visited each morning. Food portions were big enough to share staff was friendly and extremely helpful.
