We stayed at CSA May 15-19. This was our second time there, the first being 13 years ago for our honeymoon. Some people have mentioned things need some updating, and I guess I can see that, but in all, I didn't care. The beach is amazing! Water is clear, little to no seaweed, and the beach itself is wide. I never had an issue finding chairs or shade. Food: Some of it excellent, some was ok. Never had anything I thought was just not good. There are lots of options, so you will find something you like. Staff: Again, some excellent, some ok. I felt the men were nicer than the women. I'm not sure why that is. I tried to be polite to everyone as I truly appreciated their service while I was visiting. But overall, very nice staff. Always helpful when I asked. Bars: Most bartenders were excellent and would strive to put a smile on your face. Dwayne and Shanna-Kaye at the Aura bar were great! So friendly and made you feel welcome. Nicoy at one of the beach bars was also great. Unfortunately, our last full day there was his last day. I hope they bring him back. He had our little group having a great time singing and making us fantastic drinks. Excursions: We did the snorkeling excursion and sunset cruise. Both were great. Don't miss out on either one of these. We stayed in an Atrium suite. The frogs at night did not bother me. I could hear some noise from the road, but that didn't bother me either. I was very happy with the Atrium suite. Maybe a 2 minute walk to the beach. Our first morning drifting in the sea, we looked at each other and said, "So we are coming back here next year, right?" and yes, we are. I cannot wait. We met some great friends and had the ultimate escape from reality. I also recommend Club MoBay. We were not able to get into the arrival lounge, but we did do the departure lounge and it was definitely worth it. Will book early enough next time to do arrival, too. We did not have a long wait through customs (came in on Wednesday at noon), but any time saved from standing in line, is worth it to me. In the end, I definitely recommend CSA. You will not regret your decision to go there.
Nice but needs lots of updates for the money they charged.
Couples swept away is just that! It sweeps you away from the “fancy schmancey” side of the things into an old world resort that has lots of lush greenery throughout and could use a few updates. First: Checkin was smooth. Everyone was super polite. However , don’t count on getting there early with the expectation of an early checkin. Not going to happen! We arrived at noon and was given the suggestion to change into something more comfortable , given a paper map and lead to our own devices. We did just that. About 3:30pm our room was ready. It was a garden view verandah. When we stepped into the room it was not modern at all yet still clean and comfy. Most would agree that they are definitely in need of some major updates. It resembled an old bed and breakfast more so than a resort. Food: There were many options for breakfast, both Jamaican and American. Jamaican food was not seasoned like we were accustomed to but was told that it’s because not everyone can have salt or spicy. They have several restaurants, the Palms was probably our favorite. It was buffet style breakfast, lunch and dinner. The customer service was Amazing. Rosette and Keno made it special for us. They remembered us and always had a smile for every table they served. The bartenders in the Martini bar upstairs from the Palms were amazing and fun loving as they mixed up pretty much any cocktail you could imagine. The Lemon grass restaurant was nice. The food was good although the appetizers were petite. It’s ok just order more than one. They will bring you as much as you like. The Sea grapes bar was a vegetarian bar for smoothies and lite fair. Fish tacos were outstanding! The Cabana bar was nice for a quick bite in between lunch and dinner. Nothing to write home about but it would suffice. The beach bars were convenient and they served you right on the beach. The drink were mostly watered down so order an extra shot in EVERYTHING! I’m not really a drinker and it was watered down. The piano bar was so much fun. Mr. Chocolate himself and the lovely Princess Tamara were so entertaining and made our time with them the best. We sang karaoke loud and off key from selections in a book provided. The Aura dance lounge was also nice to dance away a few pounds, as we needed to from eating all day long. It was well air conditioned and the drinks were nice. The DJ accepted requests and played whatever you wanted to keep you dancing. This resort had lots of wonderful surprises such as lots of FREE activities and water sports, such as catamaran rides, hobie boats paddle boats and even a cute little casino. There were lots of people walking along the beach selling things. This became a little annoying after a while because they came by in numbers either they were playing music and wanted donations or selling something. The guards kept them from disturbing the guests most of the time by not allowing them to walk directly up to you , instead if you were interested you would have to walk to them. Entertainment was good at night at the Palms. The voices that graced that stage were amazing. In the future I’d definitely allow myself to be swept away again by Couples Swept away after they do a few updates. Not exactly worth all of the money we spent.
Excellent facilities and pretty decent food
Great locaition, wonderful sports and beach staff, and great sports facilities. The only thing that let it down was some of the service. The front desk was not very good at all. Sometimes impolite and ineffective, and also some of the more junior waiting staff were not up to scratch. The food was pretty good, especially the little Caribbean grill by the pool, although the Asian restaurant was not authentic at all. That said, the accomodation and facilities were pretty good. I've been fortunate enough to stay at quite a few luxury resorts, and this rated pretty well. Lots to do. Jamaica is a lovely island, and the falls and river cruise is well worth doing.
Absolutely wonderful time. Beautiful grounds impeccably kept. Ocean view room was a bit smaller than we expected, but very little time was spent there. Perfect beach. The employees of the resort are so cordial. All of the food was excellent. Would have loved some craft beer - but I was in Jamaica. Our second trip to a Couples property. Very highest recommendation.
Need some attention not a five star resort
Been traveling to Jamaica several times and stayed in different resorts each time.We decided CSA this time and booked ground level ocean front veranda room.Price was basically same as Sandals Resort. Cons. Resort is very dated and in need of some serious updates from rooms to restaurants. We ate in all the restaurants including buffet, we can honestly say food is just average and not very tasteful at all.We were very disappointed with the grill, the Jurk chicken that Jamaica is know for was just awful.I think the cooks need some retraining or they just do not have pride and care in preparing and cooking. As other guest have mention the staff is a hit and miss some staff member just seam miserable being there. Unfortunately being on ground level we woke up to cats sleeping on our veranda furniture and I am allergic to any kind of animal hair so needless to say we could not utilize our ocean front veranda. This can be the cause of other guest feeding these cats.Hotel and resort cats are not suppose to be fed their purpose is to control rodents. Some guest just don't get it,more signage needs to be posted "Do not feed the cats". Pros for us Beach and beach service was just amazing most of the staff very friendly and always made sure you were not waiting for drinks. We are not pool people so cannot comment on that. Over all we were not very impressed and doubt that we would recommend or be back to CSA. Suggestions Owners need to invest in some major upgrades and updates, they also need to revisit their upper management to see what can be done to improve on service and more importantly quality of food.We honestly feel there is a lot of reheated food from the day before being used day to day.
