This was our second trip to Barcelo Riviera Maya after staying earlier this year with family. It was an amazing time from beginning to end! Totally understandable for some to wing it on transportation from the airport to the hotel but we chose the service provided by the hotel during booking and it was perfect, once arriving in Cancun we found the Barcelo representative and within 5 minutes our van had arrived. Once arriving at the resort, we checked in, left our luggage with the bell man and it was off to paradise! During our trip the capacity was significantly less than earlier in the year but it was perfect! The service we received was amazing. Every interaction we had with the staff was professional and friendly which was a pleasant change from the daily interactions back in the states. As far as the resort goes the amenities are perfect for those looking really for anything, good food, good drinks, beautiful beach, amazing pools. The hotel has really put an emphasis on live entertainment as well, every night was a treat with local artists for all kinds of genres. When it comes to food, Barcelo checked off all the wants. Breakfast and lunch in the buffets offered plenty of fresh options and stations for plenty of fresh cooked foods. Tip: the earlier you go in each meal time the more options available, if you choose to sleep in you may get stuck between the kitchen staff switching the menus. The dinner options were really the key for us this trip. We enjoyed the Mexican and Japanese restaurant at the AO resort which were amazing! If you book the Mexican restaurant you have the option for the restaurant or the taco bar. Both were amazing! The Japanese restaurant was amazing, we chose the hibachi setting and the food was fresh and easily better than half of our local Japanese steakhouses. The chefs kiss goes to the Brazilian steakhouse located at the palace! The atmosphere outside and the service were impeccable and the entrees were amazing. The staff in all the restaurants went above and beyond our entire stay. Like mentioned throughout my review the staff was amazing. The resort as a whole is massive and the fact that so many amazing people work daily to keep the resort pristine is noticed and appreciated. If you are looking for an amazing resort with plenty of room to have a party of relax solo this is it. Tip! If you book the premium package you have access to the hydrotherapy sessions at the spa, the essential oil showers and cold/hot plunges are so amazing. You have the opportunity to book for each day of your stay so make sure to enjoy at least once!

I do not recommend booking here unless it’s in their season. No beach drink service, no premium upgrades. Pool bar and snacks closed. If you like glitz and glamour and fancy with little to no service, this is the place. Don’t pay more and upgrade to premium during off season either. There is no extra or special service. So disappointed. Spent a lot of money to get nothing for a week.

Fabulous Staff!
This is our second stay at Barcelo Maya Riviera, and it was a great experience, just like the first time. The staff are all super friendly. What we love is after the first day, the staff remember you and recognize you. When we sat by the pool, Laritsa Ramirez was serving us and would say hi to us every morning and proactively come to us with our next drink. She really went above and beyond for us!

Love the Adults only resort the peace and quiet except at night.
Love Barcelo the place is huge and they have huge infinity pools and you can go to there sisters resort to eat and drink and use there pools. This will be my 4th straight year going. I highly recommend going to there sisters resorts for dinner they have better restaurants there.

Beautiful place, exceptional ambiance the service is superb, adults only makes it the cherry on top. Italian restaurant La Dolce Vita Is wonderful Yaneth Garcia and Benito Jimenez are awesome.
