Disappointed
We got married here 10 years ago and decided to celebrate our anniversary at the same place that we got married. Upon our arrival, there was a power outage that lasted up until the time of check-in. Nobody offered to pay for our lunch or offer anything as an inconvenience to us with the power outage at the same time during our entire stay of five days we never received as much as a card recognizing our anniversary that we got married at the same hotel nor did we get anything from the hotel as a special welcome . The spa was just OK unfortunately the massage my husband had was just below average nothing we would expect for a luxury hotel. There were also some things we noticed around the hotel, such as maintenance issues, including our lampshade that fell off multiple times in the middle of the night, waking us up. I also have been waiting and it’s been nine days for a charge on my credit card to be reversed as I was told by the front manager that it was just a temporary hold however that charge continues

Andaz Maui Experiences
We spent a week at Andaz as a couple and got a good feel for the place. Unfortunately when the weekend started we got some new people next door. They had two young children who continually screamed not just normal children crying. We felt bad for them since this was a case of bad parenting. Totally ruined our experience and could even sit on our balcony. We went to front desk and requested a room change. Mind you this was the weekend. It was granted and we got a much better room. However, I would recommend this as a strategy since it required upper management approval and was unpleasant. I think a mark of a good hotel is taking the proper course correction when problems arise and they often do.

Unforgettable Stay at Andaz Maui
Had an amazing stay at the Andaz Maui! The service was outstanding from start to finish, and I was pleasantly surprised with an upgrade to a 3 bedroom villa. The space was luxurious, spacious, and perfect for relaxing. Incredible views, great amenities, and overall an unforgettable experience. Highly recommended!

My Experience at Andaz Maui Over Thanksgiving – Disappointing for an Amex FHR Property
I stayed at the Andaz Maui over the Thanksgiving holiday and wanted to share my experience, as it fell far below what I’ve come to expect from both the Andaz brand and an American Express Fine Hotels & Resorts (FHR) property. Arrival & First Impressions The stay started off on the wrong foot. When we arrived at the valet, the staff seemed confused as to why we were checking in and asked whether we had received an “email inviting us” to do so. In 30 years of travel, I’ve never heard of needing an email before checking into a hotel. No one offered to help with luggage or pointed out the ramp to the lobby, so we ended up carrying everything up the stairs ourselves. It was not a welcoming arrival. Check-In Process The front desk staff was friendly and directed us to a lounge to wait for the room, saying they’d text us when it was ready. The text never came. While waiting, we went to the 2nd-floor bar area where the bartenders were consistently unfriendly and looked inconvenienced by having guests. One highlight was a server (Toby or Tony) who was genuinely warm and helpful. He even told us that the front desk text would never come—and he was right. When we checked back at the desk later, the room had been ready, but our bags, which were supposed to be delivered, were not in the room. Housekeeping Opt-Out Credit We opted out of housekeeping on the first full day using the door hanger, which was supposed to provide a small resort credit (~$15). This credit was never applied. Valet Staff Experience One night, we asked a valet attendant for a safe walking route to the Wailea mall. She kindly directed us through the parking lot to the sidewalk. The next night, when we attempted to use the same path, another valet employee insisted that we should not walk through the parking lot and made us feel like we were inconveniencing him. The inconsistency and tone were disappointing. Service at the Bars & Pools During the first three days, service at the 2nd-floor bar continued to be unfriendly. Thankfully, we encountered one exceptional server, Earl, who stood out for his warmth and genuine hospitality. However, another concerning incident happened at the 2nd-level pool. Around 4:30 PM—despite the pool being advertised as open until 10 PM—staff began setting up Retractable Belt Stanchions, pulling out power-washing equipment, and telling us that our belongings would likely get wet. Even more alarming, they were running live electrical extension cords within about a foot of the pool, while guests (including children) were still swimming. This was a serious safety issue and made us feel that guests in the area were more of a burden than a priority. FHR Credits Not Provided One of the main reasons we chose this property was the advertised $750 property credit through Amex FHR. This credit was not honored, even though the standard $100 credit was. This was a major factor in selecting the Andaz over other hotels. Overall Thoughts There were a few standout employees who delivered true Andaz-level service, but unfortunately, the overall experience—from arrival through daily interactions—did not meet the expectations for a luxury resort or an FHR partner property. The lack of consistency, unfriendly service in multiple areas, unfulfilled credits, and even safety concerns made this stay far below expectations. I hope the hotel takes this feedback seriously, as the property itself is beautiful, and it has the potential to offer an exceptional experience with improved training, consistency, and guest-focused service.

Not the luxurious feel s I was expecting
Pools in need of resurfacing. Dated furniture and dirty carpets. Fast food menu at fine dining pricing. The rooms in the tier have only partial views of the ocean. Not as luxurious as portrayed online. Front desk in a hurry to process incoming traffic.
