Gorgeous hotel, excellent staff, food was expensive but great. Not happy about being pressured to take the 90 minute tour to try to encourage us to buy time share at the hotel.

Great experience all around. The only negative was that we signed up for a group jog and our running guide didn't show up. The fitness room was a decent alternative however.

Hurricane got this one, won't reopen so don't waste your time, I would post pictures but what's the point, There was a nice casino to go to but not anymore. Supposedly, the property has been sold to Marriott

Great Vacation

What an incredible vacation... with one exception I'll begin by saying that I spend anywhere from 50-80 nights a year in a hotel. 50 nights at a Starwood property and another 30 between Marriott, Hilton, Melia etc. When I booked this trip, I was looking for a smoke free resort where I could spend a week eating healthy, getting fit and truly relaxing. The trip was exactly that! The weather was perfect, you could sit by the pool listening to the sounds of the waves, the gym was well maintained and the food exquisite. The property is extremely clean. The food is healthy and fresh. The staff are kind and attentive. They even have these great flags on the side of the pool chairs that indicate you would like to order food or beverages. The staff go above and beyond the call of duty to ensure their guests have a luxurious vacation! I've never been treated better by a hotel in all of my years. I do wish they had higher quality tea and sold Evian. Here is the one BUT.... On the 4th day, a family with 10 kids arrived at the pool. Within minutes they overrun the pool. Running between lounge chairs, jumping off the edge, screaming, throwing balls. Multiple couples got up and moved .... the kids followed. Had this family been here for the duration of my trip it certainly would have ruined the tranquility I came for. The Westin could certainly benefit from having someone monitor the pool activity consistently to ensure children are being mindful and respectful of those around them and the property. At one point a family with children even brought out sidewalk chalk. There was a security person, but unfortunately just the one to cover the entire property. Later on it was discovered that they were actually staying at a motel down the road and paid $25 to use the pool. This is insulting considering guests here pay $400 a night. ------- TWIST After checking out, getting to the airport and boarding the plane, the cargo loader drove into the plane creating a hole ..... Air Canada responded quickly and set us all up at the Westin for a night with food vouchers. A big Thank You to Air Canada for setting us up in a nice hotel and not a dodgy all inclusive. Here's what I observed once getting back to the hotel: - the Westin was organized and prepared for the 255 guests arriving all at one time on buses - The line moved quickly - The restaurants filled quickly and the time to eat was extended but by a reasonable amount of time. - I was provided a room without a view, which was fine for the night but I will say it is certainly worth paying more for the ocean view. The room faced a parking lot Great job by both Air Canada and Westin! -------- Notes: The weather forecast for the week indicated sun with rain every day. Initially I was very sad that it could potentially rain every day I was here. Other than one day where it was overcast and some light drizzle, the weather was perfect. The hotel is very well maintained! They have workers who are like chameleons working behind the scenes to ensure the property maintains its standard. The only reason I saw them was because I woke up at 5:30am every day and would see them on my morning run. If you find your room has a musty smell, it is most likely because the people before you left the balcony doors open. The hotel does take action quickly when this occurs and has blowers to get rid of the smell quickly.

We purchased 49 vacation weeks with a one week bonus week at the Dawn Beach Hotel. We are required to use that bonus week during 2019. The problem is the Hotel has not been rebuilt and may not be reopened until 2021, maybe even later. My wife and I were planning on using one of our vacation weeks at a Dawn Beach condo back to back with the bonus week in 2019. Obviously, that is impossible because of the damage caused by Hurricane Irma and delays in reconstruction of the resort. We understand that. So, we started negotiating with representatives of Dawn Beach to see what they could offer to compensate us for having to cancel and delay our plans. Basically, Dawn Beach is not able to perform its obligations under the contract that we entered with that company. We informed each Dawn Beach representative that we were passed around to that we just wanted what we were paying for, that we were not interested in purchasing any additional weeks or paying for fixed weeks or upgrading what we already have. We just wanted to know how they intended to compensate us for not being able to deliver under the contract. Instead, we got a high pressure sales pitch. The compensation "offer" consisted of each representative trying to sell us something that we didn't want, upgrades that would cost us over ten thousand dollars. Dawn Beach cannot deliver under our current contract and will not compensate us for inconvenience, delays in our vacation plans and and related problems. But they have no problem with taking our money. Their answer to our situation: "Just give us more money ". NOT GOING TO HAPPEN! V. McClain, Colorado

Time Share Trap

This hotel is on the Dutch side of the island on Dawn Beach. It is approximately 30 minutes from Princess Juliana International Airport. Our room was a simple yet modern with a side view of the beach. The hotel offers basic Wi-Fi for free on the property if you want the higher speed connection you will have to pay an extra fee to access it. The beach is clean with plenty of lounge chairs. The staff was attentive, offered personalized service, and they were always friendly. The food served at the restaurants offers an excellent variety, and it was tasty. We suggest you rent a car so that you can venture out onto the French side of the island. We found that side to be livelier. The biggest con of this property was the Time Share trap, although we said “no” several times they refused to accept that answer and we found ourselves dodging them constantly.

One of the best resorts on the island

The resort is a little difficult to get to the airport ( the roads are bad) , but once you are there, I found little reason to leave. The restaurant is good bars are excellent, including a swim-in pool bar. The staff is very friendly and the views are excellent, although water is rougher than some other resort. I found the views of the outstanding and very relaxing. There are several other outstanding restaurants in Oyster Pond that you can actually walk to along the beach. If you don't mind stepping out of the water as some segments are still undeveloped.
