My spouse and I spent a week at VIM in early July,2016. We have visited several all-inclusive resorts throughout the Caribbean. VIM is the best value in our experience. Our standard room was clean, modern, and more than adequate. Third floor in building 5 is a great location. The beach is long, sand is fine, water is clear, and there are a sufficient number of palapas. The party pool is large but we preferred the lazy river pool. The restaurants offer consistently good food and service always was attentive. The evening entertainment options were the best that we have experienced. The staff was friendly and professional. A few of our favorites were Daniel, Bryan, and Cuielo. Don't forget to tip generously! The only downside to our experience (and this is the same at every all-inclusive) is that a small portion of the clientele are determined to drink excessively and act boorishly. This is not a criticism of VIM because it happens everywhere. Please remember that being drunk, loud, and obnoxious is NEVER cool. We will return to VIM and recommend it without reservation. More>

Absolutely amazing! Perfect distance from both Cancun and Playa del Carmen. Incredible rooms, superb food and beach. The staff was amazing, especially the guys from the activity team who made our stay at the hotel fun at all times! Please do come here, you won't regret it! More>

A true luxury experience

My beautiful wife and I along with our very close friends decided to book for a 40th birthday vaca and it was an amazing experience. I will start off with the the resort itself which is largely spread out across beautifully landscaped grounds which are maintained flawlessly daily. As you walk through the grand entrance of the lobby a beautiful smell and breeze of flowers will hit your senses and relax you right away. The staff here is a true 5 star experience and will greet you right away with a drink and a towel to cool off with and book you in as fast as they can. They have many types of rooms to accommodate your taste and style with a choice of either a more active side of the resort or the quieter side with the lazy river style pool. Our rooms were ready upon arrival and they were cleaned with no complaints of bugs or and weird stains or smells or anything to alarm us. Not all rooms have the best view which is understandable considering the size of the resort and the lay out. That being said not all balconies are as private as one may like. They lack a floor to ceiling divider. Which I dont want to raise any alarms about security in this resort as we had no issues what so ever or have ever heard of anyone having anything to them. As im sure there will always be some in large resorts over time I myself know of none here. The ac in the buildings work amazing and can be controlled right beside the bed which was so convenient when your in a lazy mood and make sure you get a hang of the light switches you can turn off the ac with one button marked by a green sticker of thats off everything is lol. Took awhile to figure that one out. There are large pools which have swim up bars in the main pools and there are other slightly more private and quieter if your looking to nap or get away from the crouds. if you get a chance Ishmael at the main swim up bar makes the best PURPLE RAIN you gotta try it we had a few drunken days with that drink lol. the hotel has many excursions to book from there which are safe and priced to match. We went on the atv, cenote, turtle swim and it was well worth the money. our tour guide with adventurasmayas.com Alehandro or Alex was the best guide I have had on any trip anywhere to this day. Hes funny as hell if you have any questions or things you need ask him he is a very resourceful man and totally trust worthy. he made the trip more fun for us. If you feel like having some fun go and sign up for the riffle shoot with Hunter Daniel hes a great guy and you will have lots of laughs with him in the resort shooting the air riffle for a prize. All of the staff is super friendly and you can them more then do thier jobs to make you enjoy your stay here. they have nightly shows which are great and in different eating areas which breaks things up a bit. My only complaint is the night entertainment we were here for a week and the two biggest complaints were the nightly DJ who played the worst croud killing music full of old crappy rock and horrible slow songs its hard to describe but i watched him kill the croud every single night he plays the same old white crappy music and it gives us white people a bad name its that bad. and the second was the Jamaican band that played horrible sounding Bob Marley with remixed beats which again im so serious sound so white and horrible and im a white guy haha if your gonna play the same old crap at least leave the original beat and not make that even more lame. other then that the place is amazing you can get room service almost anytime which we did and the food is great in every single restaurant in the place with more of the same impeccable service and smiles. if you want an experience you wont forget and one you will suggest to your friends family and loved ones this is the place people this is it. A 5 star worth revisiting. More>

Don't Hesitate To Visit

My husband, I and another couple stayed at the Valentin June 18 - 25. All I can say is that if you have any concerns about this place, forget them and book it! I’ll try to cover common concerns we read about and skip the basics. For reference, we have stayed at Iberostar Grand in both Riviera Maya and Punta Cana as well as the Excellence in Punta Cana. I knew it would be a great trip before it even began. We contacted the customer care department before our departure in order to upgrade our room. Fernando Can responded quickly and assisted us with everything we needed. Not only did he get back to us promptly on emails, he also introduced himself during check in, set us up with a wonderful dining experience, and checked up on us and the couple we were traveling with throughout our stay. This level of care simply wowed us, and the Valentin needs to do whatever it takes to keep this guy! Food - It was actually above our expectations based on some of the things we read in other reviews. I know this is subjective, but we believed it was on par with the Grand and Excellence. I actually don’t recall having a bad meal, and thought most were excellent. Lobster and premium wine costing extra didn’t bother us. There was a wide variety of top quality food and house wine in all the restaurants. No reservations was also nice and one of the reasons we booked the Valentin. Most restaurants are indoor as well and great for AC lovers. Beach - Stunning as others have said. I wanted a beautiful beach on this vacation and it delivered. It was huge with a great swimming area. We opted out of the privilege package (most of amenities were not important to us, but may be to you), but rented beach beds each day instead. Andres and Jonathan are two other folks we want to express our appreciation for. They set up our beds each day, chatted with us, and made sure we were well taken care of. Simply great people. Grounds - Also beautiful. The jungle setting provided a private feel and we didn’t find the size of the resort grounds to be a problem once you get your bearings. Lots of local vegitation and wildlife to appreciate on your strolls. Rooms - We upgraded to a swim up suite and enjoyed it. The other couple had the standard room and it was great too. Some have expressed concerns about the rooms being dated and I expected worse than I found. We thought the rooms were very nice, clean and serviced regularly. They missed replacing the potato chips once and we laughed all day about how it ruined our vacation as some reviewers may write! The air conditioning worked great and there was plenty of hot water once we figured it out. Service - Outstanding with minor exceptions. I’m a little embarrased that I can’t remember more names, because everyone was so great. It’s truly hard to find anything wrong with this resort, but I’ll make a couple of comments in an effort to provide a balanced review. The first is the drink consistency. Alcohol content is not the problem, but if you order the same drink twice, don’t expect it to taste the same. One in our group likes vodka tonics and it was amazing how many different ways you can make one taste! It was no big deal to us as you could simply order another. If you want a great drink, go to Don Miguel. The bartenders and wait staff are great. The other minor issue was with the dress policy and specifically at the Italian resturant. When we entered, the hostess informed the group that closed toe shoes were required for the men. My husband looked down at his shoes and said okay and was a little confused. He was wearing brand new black leather closed toe dress sandals. He has worn essentially the same shoes to the other resorts listed above and we never thought it would be an issue at the Valentin. He was also wearing dress slacks and a button down shirt...quite handsome and better dressed than most in the restaurant in my biased opinion! The hostess sat us, but then said sandals were not permitted for men and she would make an exception due to the rain. We spent the rest of our dinner experience looking at everyones shoes as they walked by and had a good laugh when the hostess had a fit over a guy in his bare feet (he kicked his shoes off under the table). Maybe we broke the spirit of the dress policy, but we had absolutely no issue at the other resturaunts (we ate at them all). I’m guessing it was simply a hostess that took the dress policy very seriously, but wanted to throw it out there. Bottom line is consdering the price difference between the Grand, Excellence and Valentin, the Valentin wins easily. We will definitely be going back! More>

Stayed for 3 days and 3 nights this past weekend with a few couple friends. I stayed in the Junior Suite which was very spacious with a kind size bed, couch, 2 small tables with chairs, big restroom with stand up shower, jet tub, and semi separate toilet (glass door). The bed was comfortable and I wish I would take home the pillows and duvet cover! The surroundings were beautiful filled with trees, iguanas, ran into a tree filled with butterflies, and came across a family of lemurs at 5am once. The beach was clean and very nice.. There was even a fenced in section where they were protecting buried turtle eggs! Main pool was huge and one day there was a foam party right in the pool. The entertainment staff were very fun. Waitstaff and bartenders were great. Take your own bubba to fill up! Buffets were really good.. Lots of choices. Also tried the French restaurant which was superb (highly recommend the filet mignon) and the hibachi restaurant was super fun and delicious. Must stand in line at the concierge 15 mins before hey open (so 8:35am) to make a reservation at the hibachi restaurant before its all booked! Really felt pampered from the moment we arrived. It can be really confusing getting around to the different buildings but there are maps and eventually you find the short cuts. We don't usually go to the same destination twice but I really think we will be going back again next year and staying longer! More>
