Nice on a limited budget

Our stay was actually a few years ago, but I think this is a great choice for couples or singles that want a nice stay with a nice beach on a limited budget. Not sure what the prices are today, but we thought the rooms were adequate (although a little tired). The bathrooms were nicely appointed. Several pool options. This is a large resort, so you can expect noise and a few vacationers that, how shall I say it...don't get out much. We did have to leave a few 'dance' nights in the courtyard when a few of the guests acted like spring breakers in Daytona, but no biggie. Food was average, but something for everyone. If you want upscale and pampering, then choose Zoetry, Excellence, Secrets or the like. More>

Perfect resort - no complaints!!

The room was the biggest/nicest we've seen out of about 10 all-inclusives we've been to around the Caribbean. We had the Silver Jr Suite which meant we got the Jacuzzi tub in the room. We had a giant balcony and room service. It was located near the pools so it was somewhat close to everything, as it was in the middle of the beach and the restaurants. The drinks were delicious, we stuck with blender drinks most of the time... mudslides, pina coladas, etc. Also had good mojitos, margaritas, etc. The beach was huge with about 4 different areas you could use, because of this I can't envision you ever having trouble getting a chair like you do at some other resorts. Same for the pool area - it was huge, clean, & had a ton of chairs. The food was great at the seafood/steakhouse, the Mexican restaurant, the hibachi restaurant, and the Italian restaurant. Free WiFi all around the resort. Also one of the closest resorts in Riviera Maya to the airport, about 30 mins. More>

Anniversary & Birthday celebration

3rd visit since August 2014, still a great resort. We absolutely have no complaints, the staff is still what makes this place special!! My husband is a creature of habit if he likes something and he's not changing. Case in point the restaurant/buffet close to the beach, breakfast-lunch every day, 10 days straight yes it may be the same food but they have so many choices everyday was something new. Ms. Melina works here and she will take care of you as if you owned the place!! (So if you go ask for her when your at the hostess desk) she's wonderful. Also a big thank you to Cindy who is the hostess there she takes such pride in greeting you each time with a big smile and remembering your name and being so sweet/pleasant. Also can't forget Louis he just as friendly and will remember all your needs. Beach is long beautiful and our favorite place to be all day long!! Who needs a pool when you have beach/water so gorgeous. Food in the evening is a treat, you will find they serve you to much, but you will Enjoy it! Entertainment awesome the Imperial Band are very professional, they can sing/play any song and perform it flawless. Grounds/buildings are beautiful, but I must say ROOMS--it is TIME TO REPLACE FURNISHING/BEDDING they are truly showing wear and tear. Our first visit 2014 I noticed rooms needed to be updated, but I over looked it but since that visit the price of the resort has increased quite a bit, so hopefully they can spend it on the rooms?? They made my Anniversary & Birthday two very special days! Thank you! We will be back. More>

3rd time around & I will go back

Well this was our 3 rd time to this resort on April 23rd and we loved it. The rooms are great, the food is above par ( in general ), the beach is great ( not excellent ) the pools are amazing, a little too warm but life is not easy having to enter a warm pool LOL. Took the privileged package. Requested building 5 and a beach bed #18 and up with a Chivas, Martel, Bombay, and Bacardi as my special in room bar and sent the request 1 week prior to arrival to the special privileged email address !!!! That email address is a joke and should be taken out if not taken seriously. Did not get building 5 ... got building 3, got to the beach bed # 11 and they had no Chivas left ! I still enjoyed every minute of my vacation but as I said do not offer this special privileged email address when you do not even bother to accommodate. I honestly did not meet anyone in Building 5 that was part of the privileged package therefore if you know that then respond by advising that I cannot be in building 5. The bed request on the Beach ..... the beach concierge was not even aware of my request but I got what I wanted when I asked Jonathan ( who is the best ) . As for the Chivas request you kind of knew a week ahead of time so I don t quite understand why I did not get ! I must also advise that I got the paper only 2 days in a row , I advised on the 5th day that I was not getting it and still did not get it on day 6 or day 7 !!! To conclude I have to say it , I enjoyed every minute of it and will return next year. Thank you Valentin for a terrific vacation once again I we will see you next year More>

Almost as good as last year

My Mother and I returned to the Valentin the last week of April 2016. We had booked a Deluxe suite requesting building 5 which we received but chose to upgrade to a Golden for a discounted price. Last year we stayed in building 6 and loved the location so we chose this building again. The grounds are still beautiful and well taken care of and the food is still great. This time we made it to the Hibachi which was fun and very tasty. We also did the Italian twice, the French once and the Mexican once. The French was good (loved the french onion soup and cannolis) but I found the options limited if you don't like much meat or seafood. There is one chicken dish which is ok but a little odd. The main difference this year as compared to last year was the service. Most was good - Luis at the Beach buffet was awesome and the service at the golden pool was great - but the room service was lacking. Our room was always cleaned daily although sometimes a little later than we would have preferred but you can request a certain time for service which we did not do so that's on us. For us it was the nightly turn down service. Its not a necessity but we loved to receive the daily journal to see the activities for the following day and we only received the turn down service twice. Once I even called to get a journal slipped under the door and they said it would be sent down but we never got it. The only reason we had it the second time was because I went to the concierge and booked it for a specific time. I think it's the extras that make Valentin the great resort it is so it was a little disappointing. We did receive a plate with some goodies on it for being repeat guests which was a nice touch. The foam party on sunday was a lot of fun! It was a first for us and we really enjoyed it. We also watched the belly dancing and aquatics shows at the main pool which were entertaining. Loved having the free wifi! Despite the glitch in turn down service, we had a great time and would definitely return again. More>
