Beware, not for all people

Just got back from a wonderful trip to Cozumel, it truly is paradise on earth. The purpose of my trip was the open triathlon race and wanted to have a few days off after to relax and enjoy the beach. I did some investigating (I admit that I could of done better) but after some time we decided to stay at the Sabor Cozumel. Several of the travel websites put this as a 4-5 star hotel and one of the better ones on the island. The resort is on the southern area and right next to the Secrets Resort, at the check-in we found out that they are part of the same chain and we could go to one of their restaurants. After reading several comments on the hotel was one of the main reason we choose this hotel. Later we found out that this hotel is classified as a 3 star hotel, nothing wrong with that but we were looking for a 5 star experience for our vacation days which made some things an inconvenience. First wrong thing that happened was the water leakage from the A/C unit just about 20 minutes in. I get it, things get old and they need repair, good thing is that the maintenance guy came right up to fix it. Next thing that broke down was the mini fridge, got it replaced next morning. When it started getting annoying was when you needed to open the closet a certain way for it to open, or when the shower lamp came loose or finally when the when the drawers couldn't close. It was a 3 star standard hotel with some maintenance problems. Also its worth mentioning that their is no room service. After a long day its nice to stay in the room and get pampered. Again, that's me not doing enough research. As an all inclusive hotel they have several restaurantes and snacks available, but the thing that mostly made me regret our decision of staying here was its family concept. Its very loud, and lots of activities of the family, with the food not bad but very kid orientated. The two best things about our stay were the water amenities, small sail catamaran, snorkel, paddle boards and the Secrets restaurant available to the adults of the Sabor Cozumel. The service at this restaurant was in general better with better quality food. My next trip to Cozumel I'm staying at the Secrets hotel for a more pampering trip with out the loud and vibe of the Sabor Cozumel. More>

Perfect Diving Week!

This was our fifth time to stay at Sunscape Sabor, our second time this year! Juan Carlos welcomed us home upon arrival – always nice to hear that! Sandy was quick to get us checked in and on our way to Unlimited Fun! We had a wonderful Ocean view suite on the second floor. Breakfast service at the Portofino Restaurant was superb – thanks to Marlon, Adrian, & Jorge. We were scuba diving most of the week, but still enjoyed afternoon and evening drinks --- great service from Wilberth at the Tortugas Bar along with Christian & Angel at the Seaside Bar! Suggestion on the Seaside Bar: add some ceiling fans to move the air, it gets really hot there in the afternoon. Our favorite restaurant was the Seaside Grill! We were at the resort Sept 3-10 --- really nice part was there were very few people at the resort so we didn’t really wait for dinner any night. Love that there is no reservation required and no wristbands required! Da Mario’s was closed most of the week for renovations, but we did get to enjoy it one evening and the pasta & seafood was very good. The pizzeria was still closed when we left. Do not miss the nachos at the snack bar. The entertainment staffed (Brandon, Maru, & Anani) worked very hard to provide outside activities during the day and we enjoyed the evening entertainment also. There were two evening of dinner & a show, we attended the Mexican night – dinner was really good and so was the entertainment. The questions always comes up, would I go back to this resort --- Yep, we will see everyone in November, this time we will be taking our son and daughter in law with us to enjoy the holiday! Thanks to everyone at Sunscape Sabor for making our holiday a trip to remember!! More>

This place is amazing, the rooms are big with large closet, nice deck to set on and watch the sunset, which were beautiful. The food was pretty good for all inclusive. Drink were great and the service was fast. The beach was cleaned every day, nice sand warm water, and amazing snorkeling, no really amazing snorkeling. Can't wait to go back. More>

Feels like home!

We go to Cozumel 2-3 times a year. We LOVE the island! We have been going there for 25 years. We have stayed at several places over the years...even rented houses a few times. By far the best bang for our money has been Sunscape Sabor! They make you feel like you are at home. As soon as we pull up Juan Carlos gives us a hug and gets busy getting us checked in. He makes you feel like family. In fact he always says welcome home first thing!..lol. Ramon Baeza has worked there several years and moved up within the company and has become a very good friend to us. Anything we need or want he is very helpful! I love his attitude! Always upbeat and so fun to be around! Sandy Baeza was awesome this last trip! We had a large group of friends and family. She worked with us all in upgrading our rooms and getting checked in. I cant thank her enough for her patience. Mario (runs Marathons) (forget his last name) works in the breakfast area. He is the kindest man I know. I look forward to seeing him every morning! Eugina works in the breakfast area too but recently moved over to the secrets area. She has the very best attitude and is so sweet! She always runs up for a hug every time we show up. Moses is my newest friend. He works in the breakfast area as well. So funny and always smiling! He loves to joke around and have fun. I enjoy Sunscape Sabor because of the people that work there more than anything! The rooms are great! The view is awesome! Right on the water! Lots of pools...food ,,,drinks,,,everything you would want in paradise, But the people there make all the difference to me! I feel like its my home away from home. What more could you want? More>
