We stayed for 5 nights and spent the money for the Sun Club upgrade. Check in: Very fast and pleasant as we went to the special check in area for the Sun Club. Room: We stayed in the "Royal Tower - Jr. Suite", 3rd floor. Very outdated. Looks like your walking into a room that has not been updated since 1970. It has a counter & kitchen sink but the plumbing is not hooked up to the sink so you cannot use it. Since we upgraded to the Sun Club we are supposed to have a in-room "premium" bar. I found the refrigerator behind a cupboard door but when I looked inside there was soda, 4 beers and juice. I called the front desk asking about the "premium" bar. I was told that is the premium bar! No liquor at all. With the "Sun Club" upgrade room service is included - good luck with that, there isn't even a room service menu anywhere. The room was very clean. The only issue was that they seem to skimp on the soap & towels. Food: The Italian restaurant was very nice - food was good & service was great. The buffet was not good at all. Even though there was 4 restaurants the menu was exactly the same every day - never changes! Pool area: Lots of children when we were there. There is a sign in the "pool" bar for adults only - well, no one paid any attention to that. Kids were in there splashing around. There was really no pool area that was for adults only - kids were allowed in all of them. There is a pool away from the others that is for "Sun Club" guests only but there is no security or anyone checking to see if you belong to the club so anyone can use it. The gentleman tending bar at the sun club pool was very nice. Bars: The bar near the pool was always busy - I also watched each time they made the drinks and they skimp on the liquor as well! Beach: Very clear water. The only complaint about the beach area is that going into the water is very rocky in most spots, hard on the feet. You have to get up at the crack of dawn if you want a beach chair with some shade or you are out of luck. Also, there was also a daily shortage of beach towels. Overall experience: Don't spend the money to go there. The island is very dense and nothing special. The main town is way overpriced - I'm assuming it is because of the cruise ships that come in. We have been to almost every island in the Caribbean and there are many more much nicer with a lot more to do & see.

I'm a review reader - read about the Sunscape in Curacao 100's of times before we left. Came up with the reasoning that you can't please everyone and it's the picky people writing these things. I've been to several Dreams properties - thoroughly enjoyed them. Sunscape however, is in a different class. Like someone mentioned before, it's in +the "infant stage". We arrived, no all over us treating us special; one of two rooms was not ready (it was after 3pm); we asked about upgrading to Sunclub - no one was available to do that on Sunday. Okay, so we went to our "King Size - Garden view" room.......true to form. King size bed, view of trees, a canal, a cargo box. I can live with that - we don't stay in our room the whole time. Hot water and cleanliness not a problem in our room either. Could have used a ceiling fan to accomodate the out dated air handling system. Our traveling companions paid the same as us - same view, but two full size beds. Seriously! Dinner that 1st night - Seafood Restaurant - definitely needs some type of management classes - two + hours, got up several time to get our own drinks and I got up and picked up our bread. Of course, they are out of snapper - (found out later, that's for the folks that pay extra to eat on beach if they want it), if not, then it's a choice for the rest of us. Food was okay if you like fish and rice. Breakfast - same thing everyday. Salt/Pepper was a scavenger hunt, which I set out to accomplish daily. Lunch on the beach was good - yes the birds are a problem, but you're eating on the beach! Dinner at the Italian (Iris) and Hibachi (Ellio) were great - good food and entertainment. Drinks were plentiful and loved, loved Norma and Latoya. They were the 1st ones to make us feel welcome and treated us special. All the others were not exactly happy to serve us, especially if you didn't have money out or someone a lot younger and cuter stepped up, then you became invisible. We saw that multiple times!!! We will pay for good service and a smile!!! Excursions - we loved the ATV ride - aloe plantation and ostrich farm. The Excursion in Willemstad on Thurs was long and exhausting. We wanted to visit the liquor factory and shopping which was showing on the brochure, but it was a holiday and it was closed. The Rep failed to tell us that, even though we plainly stressed these things to her. We did take the bus back to town the next day ($2) and did our shopping. The resort's snorkeling and beaches were great - we missed the beach locals trying to sell stuff (entertaining). It was well laid back - "island time" was the key to enjoying yourself. Can't say we would go back there right now. We were spoiled in Punta Cana's Dreams and this was a step down for us this year. We paid 1000's of dollars for this trip and added an extra night - but our expectations not being met threw a damper on the week. We were told that a new Sunscape is building on the old Power company spot and come back in 5 years to see it - very doubtful for us. Sorry! Oh and if you are thinking we are talking trash, all this was told to the General Manager one night, so he's fully aware.

My husband, our 4 year old daughter and myself stayed at the resort from May 10th-May 14th. Sunscape Curacao has the best beach we have ever been too. I have to agree with the other reviews, the service and friendliness from most of the staff at the bars and dinning areas. I would suggest hospitality classes for all staff upon hire. The entertainment team was very engaging (Choco & Candyman). Best food on the resort was the food from our private dinner on the beach (Lobster for my husband & Veggie Lasagna for myself). Otherwise we ventured off the resort and had red snapper and shrimp at the Seaside Terrace, 5 minutes from the resort walking. Curacao is beautiful! We enjoyed our stay.

Wonderful time!

My husband and I just returned from this resort. It was our first time in Curacao and would definitely return. We paid extra for Sun Club and had a room in the Flamingo Tower. The room was outdated but we weren’t there to hang out in our room so that’s not important to us. AC worked great, had hot water in the shower and room was cleaned well daily. We had no issues with noise and our area was quiet which we liked. As part of Sun Club perks we were also able to have room service so we took advantage of that and ordered breakfast everyday. It was nice to be able to have it and just walk down to the beach right after. The fact that our room was in a quiet area and the room service made the extra Sun Club fees worth it for us. Food was good and for us there was enough variety. The Italian restaurant was my favourite (loved the caprese salad and the grilled chicken with mushroom risotto). My husband enjoyed the grill restaurant (chicken wings, steak and potatoes with veggies). We also really enjoyed the poolside bbq lunch that they had on our 2nd last day - had beef, ribs, sausages and chicken along with a variety of sides - this was our favourite meal of the week. There is not a big selection as far as fruit goes. The resort is clean and the beach is beautiful! We loved the palapa and were able to get one everyday. We liked the free shuttle to downtown Willemstad and spent a morning there. That was the only time we went into town and we found that was enough time for us to check out the shops, the colourful buildings and structures and also watch the bridge in action Overall, although slow at times, we had no other issues with service. We found the staff very friendly and welcoming - special mention goes out to Natalia at Sun Club, Kenneth at the Sun Club bar, Wyatt at the buffet and Sue Ann at the Italian restaurant. All very friendly, helpful and professional people who always helped us with a smile! We had a great time and would definitely return!

The few good things about this place are 1. They make their cocktails very well and very spiked. Loved them 2.Nice beach which is visited by iguanas off and on 3.Nice beach to snorkel and have a good view of the fishes 4. The staff make an attempt to please but not many options to entertain 5. The Himitsu restaurant is good but they only offer one kind of food every night of the week, so you cannot eat there for more than 2 days and needs reservation The resort can really improve on its service, entertainment and especially food. The buffet options were the same every day and by the third day we found that we could not stand the food there. As a vegetarian I was given a sheet printed out certifying me to be "vegetarian" which I hoped would mean that I would get some alternative food. But the two days that I took the sheet with me the servers merely pointed me to the two options I had which were vegetarian and no other alternatives were given. The Oceana restaurant we went to kept us for over 2 hrs to just bring the menu and finally when we got the food it was not even cooked properly. For the first time in our life we walked out of a place in rage being hangry as by then it was 9pm. The Italian restaurant offered me pasta cold and dry and when I told the lovely waitress that the food was terrible she warmed it up and brought it back to me. The dining room tables( world café) had not even salt and pepper and the guests were fighting for the few bottles that were floating around. When we asked for tabasco sauce to somehow stomach the terrible food, at times they said they had no sauce. We started going to Mambo beach area to feed ourselves and paid for overpriced food even though we had already paid the resort( all inclusive-remember) There are no real quiet rooms in this resort. We got the room right beside the entertainment area which meant that we could not sleep until the so called entertainment was over as it was very loud. We had to ask several times for soap when we ran out of soap. The AC in our room was not working and we complained on day 1 but the technician came to fix it on the day we were leaving. There is no real follow up from anyone for any complaints raised. We had raised the issue with sunwing representative as well but no answer. it was really nice to leave the resort at the end of the week
