First impressions are everything

Check in very generic. Orientation really lacking, had to figure out how to maneuver restaurant reservations, main restaurant was buffet and not good at all..food cold. The better place, the pier, we could only get into one night. Many made large reservations which hurt couples getting in. The beach was small but pools.nice.

I have written a detailed letter in regards to my stay but the gist of it is that the resort did not come close in comparison to all inclusive resorts that I have stayed at in the past. On top of that it was also more expensive than the others. Brief list of issues: -first room had mold, leaking ceiling, no iron, no refrigerator -second room deadbolt didn't work, no alarm clock -room refrigerator were not stocked -service was poor at restaurants -took forever to get drinks -beach had brown murky water -not enough beach chairs -adult only pool had kids all over -entertainment was subpar

Overall rating very good. 400-block of rooms (deluxe ocean view} is very good. A problem one afternoon and evening when the music from the Palm Tree pool blasted full force from noon until 1 AM. The complaint was made and hopefully they will be more considerate in the future. Ortherwise a beautifull place to stay and relax.

Spent a week here with my thirteen year old daughter, sister, brother-in-law & nephew. My first impression wasn't great. Upon arrival I just had a feeling I had made the wrong choice in booking this place. The lobby and arrival area just seemed to be lacking. We were directed to eat at the buffet that night. The food selection was very limited (I am not a picky eater). That night I decided to just give the resort a chance. It had been a very long day of travel and the drive from the airport was brutal. Anyway, I am happy I gave the resort a chance. We had a very pleasant stay. The food was excellent at all of the restaurants. I am still amazed we were able to get reservations each night for our place of choice - this was March break!!! I have never been to a resort where I didn't have to get up early to save beach chairs - well we had no problem finding 5 beach chairs every day of our vacation. Some days we didn't get the chairs until 10 am. WOW!!! There were no line ups at the buffet. The breakfast buffet at Bambou was better in my opinion. You can sit beachside and the food appears fresher. I think the building looks cleaner and in better repair as well. For a nice lunch we would walk up to the grill by the kids pool. The food was fresh and yummy and the staff were very friendly up there. Speaking of staff - overall these were not some of the friendliest people I have ever come across. They were fine. The staff in the Cafe were not friendly at all. It was actually kind of strange. At times I felt like I was being a burden by ordering a coffee. Anyway.......other than that the Cafe was a favourite spot of mine. I loved the open air feeling, the furniture was comfy and the specialty coffees were perfect. All restaurants were open air here. Loved It! The pizza place was so cute! The Pier restaurant was lovely. What else??? At first I was disappointed with the beach but I grew to love it. It was completely free of see-weed. There were a few rocks when entering but nothing major. The free water sports is a bonus. We had no problem getting kayaks or banana boat rides. The drinks were plentiful. I wish the bubbly & wine was served in glass in the evening. The plastic allowed it to get warm quickly. Oh well. Don't worry about the lack of bottled water in the rooms. Take a refillable bottle and fill up in the sunset lounge everyday. I thought the water tasted fresh, clean and cold. No problems there. Our room was in front of the tennis courts on the third floor. I thought the room was very nice. The bed was amazing. So comfortable. I missed it when I got home to my own bed. I loved sitting out on the little balcony in the morning and while watching the sunset. The room was very clean! Excellent really. I didn't mind walking from our room to other areas of the resort. I liked the exercise. The resort is pretty compact anyway so unless you have mobility issues I wouldn't see a problem (unless you really don't like to walk). You could get a golf cart to drive you around if you wanted. The resort grounds were beautiful and well kept. The buildings could definitely use some touching up and refreshing. The furniture in the lobby could use an update. (All of these things would make the price go up). The kids pool area is a great place to relax and hang out. Nice bar up there. The adult pool looked gross all week. I saw them working on it but whatever they did didn't seem to clear it up. The other pool looked clean. I enjoyed the water aerobics everyday. Great job!!! The hilltop pool was a great place to have a drink and watch the sunset. Beautiful. The pool looked a little murky though. One thing I really loved about this place is the laid back, relaxed feel. There wasn't a person constantly yelling into a microphone trying to recruit people for games etc. If you wanted to be entertained there were activities but it wasn't in your face which is what I have experienced at a lot of resorts. I liked the entertainment. There was some good live music. The beach party on Wednesday was just awesome - great set up all along the beach, excellent food, fabulous entertainment. The staff really put a lot of effort into this each week. I would definitely go back to this resort for the right price. When I booked i got a really good deal. I highly recommend the Joy Cruise. What a great way to see the beautiful Island of St. Lucia. Joy's staff were very fun and very professional.

St. James Club Morgan Bay in St. Lucia is wonderful. It is a nice resort, smaller than thought, but very well done. The rooms are excellent and comfortable with amazing views. There are a lot of amenities all of which are easily accessible and fun. The staff and other guests are all great. The food is good, but a couple of the restaurants could put more into it. They have a wonderful kids pool near the fitness center (great classes), a set of pools central in resort (hot sun) and an adult hilltop pool (highly suggest). Tours that I would suggest while there; inflatable water park, snubaing and definitely Joy's all day Cruise (excellent). In April we did not experience many if any bugs. Thank You St. Jame's Club, hoping we can come back again.

Incredible Caribbean Island Vacation

My boyfriend and I (mid-20s, Americans) were looking for an all-inclusive Caribbean getaway, and the St. James's Club Morgan Bay St. Lucia resort met all our expectations. Overall the food is very good. The food at the dinner restaurants (where you make reservations) is incredible, and the lunch/breakfast options (The Palm) was average. We enjoyed the water sports that are included in the package, specifically kayaking and paddle boarding. The staff is very kind, helpful and friendly. The bartenders make great drinks, and the service in the restaurants is very high quality. A few suggestions: The hotel does a great job at organizing activities throughout the day and we highly recommend participating in these, they're a blast! The Morgan Pier was a great restaurant and it's right on the water. Try to make your reservation at that restaurant to be around sunset so you can get a great view. For anyone concerned about other reviews regarding stray cats and dogs wandering around the resort: This is nothing to worry about. We saw 3 cats around the resort, and they don't bother anyone, they mostly just lay around and sleep. Overall, an incredible vacation and we would absolutely recommend it!

Amazing two weeks with wedding

We have just returned from a two week holiday here which included our wedding. The resort is quite large and you do need to climb some hills to get to some of the blocks. We didn't mind as the exercise was good and you can call a buggy if you are struggling. I won't spend time talking about things already covered in previous reviews - yes the wi-fi drops in and out sometimes and you can only use it in the lobby and at the sunset lounge. This was not a major issue for us, I quickly checked the news and emails and that was all I needed to do. The staff were friendly and I generally found St Lucia people happy and friendly, even outside of the resort. We are really grateful to the wedding and photography staff that coordinated our day and made sure everything went smoothly and was everything that we wanted. We had a barbeque on the beach which was amazing. We really enjoyed the hilltop pool which had amazing views and our highlight was La Jardin which we think was worth the money. Also, the beach barbeque on Wednesday is not to be missed with local entertainment and music. The staff at this resort work thoroughly hard and go the extra mile to accommodate additional requests. During our time in St Lucia, I visited a smaller luxury hotel but St James's was perfect for what we wanted and for our wedding guests who were never bored.

Good first experience at an all inclusive

Our stay at St. James was pleasant. We enjoyed freely dining at the Palms restaurant, buffet style with a different theme each day. The staff was always pleasant. We loved dining outdoors near the ocean. The one reservation we made for our last evening at Morgan's Pier was a disappointment; the service was extremely slow and the menu items were sub par. It was nice to have the option for using the SUP and Hobi Cat sail boat on site. You have to arrive at the water sports desk before they open at 8am to reserve them for the same day; they only reserve same day. They offered a 20 minute lesson for the boat, which was a nice refresher. Our room was 1046 in a building on the hill. It had a beautiful view of the ocean and sunset, but it was hard to hear the waves over the ventilation in one of the buildings below (maybe the Palms Restaurant). The nightly entertainment went to 11 pm, so don't plan on going to bed early if your room is on the hillside. Talking with others who have stayed at other all inclusives said St. James was nicer with the 4 restaurants and the watersports included in the fees. I would stay again, but maybe in a location further away from the restaurants.
