Really great holiday

Loads of really friendly staff (Vanessa, Craig, Vince, Daniel etc etc) make this holiday brilliant. Beach is lovely and the watersports great, especially the Hobie Cats, the watersports guys are really helpful and friendly too. Book a Joys Cruise with JJ while you're there - you won't regret it! We went in the off season so the Bambou was closed for a refurb but it didn't matter as the food everywhere was excellent and varied. Tree Tops Pizza and Pasta was especially great although we had most breakfasts and lunch at The Palms. Morgans Bay restaurant also really good. Housekeeping staff did a fantastic job with the rooms spotless every day and the beds were unbelievably comfortable. Swim up bar brilliant and the best place to make friends, the Hilltop Pool Bar the best place to watch the great sunsets. It was only when we were here that we realised it's owned by the same company who have The Verandah on Antigua which was equally brilliant. Already checking the prices for next year!

Lovely staff and food; not for peace and quiet

Never been AI before and probably won't again. Island and people are great. Food and services including Joy's boat trip really good but check when the cruise ships are in as Joy does not go early enough to avoid them and going to the mud baths and the waterfall was like being on a conveyor belt. Not sure about Morgan Pier - they had been closed for 3 nights and still managed to run out of sweet fries and desserts. Our main problem was the continual thumping of music and the apparent need of many adults to consume a steady stream of alcohol from around 10.30 am. The only good thing is that everything closes down by 11.00 pm. As we were out of season we didn't have any problems booking meals or finding sunbeds but I would hate to be there in high season. We did have a good time but don't think this style of holiday is really for us.

Best Holiday Ever!

We have just returned from our best ever holiday! The service from the staff was good, the bed was so comfy. amenities were excellent,we had a beach party night that was unbelievable, the two singers Rob Zii & phyness were excellent, the other entertainment was not so good but there was always the coffee bar to have a chat. The Adult pool and bar at the top was a great atmosphere to meet. We loved the water sports, the staff were lovely and we always felt that safety was important, Gavin (Bob) and Elton were brilliant. We went on a boat trip with Joy Excursions and had the best time ever, if you go to St. James you must go, you wont be disappointed, JJ is the one you need to see, they will really look after you!The best restaurant in our opinion was Morgan's Pier, the food in Palms could be better. Kim was so helpful informing on what I could eat and not as I had an allergy , treetops Pizza & Pasta was good food, staff there were attentive..Daina the deputy manager was a star as I had an incident that needed sorting out and sort it out she did.with professionalism but with a personal touch! Loved it!.

Inconsistent Rules

We have a teenager with us and when we arrived we were told he was not allowed in the over 18 pool. Fair enough! However I was asked to exit the pool with the swim up bar with him as “minors not allowed “which was a bit embarrassing as I was not told that on arrival. This was apparently due to safety concerns with people getting drunk at the bar. I was with him and ordering two non alcoholic drinks. However, adults are allowed to drink alcohol in the pool right next door which we were told was for us to use with our son. Basically it’s okay for adults to drink alcohol and get rowdy in every pool, but he is not allowed into the pool with the bar in it. The family pool is more for small children, so they are not catering for teenagers. My son is pretty mature as he has much older siblings and we think this hotel is inconsistent in its approach. I would be happier if there was a no alcohol rule in the second pool that does not have a bar if they are truly worried about safety. That would make more sense to me as an observer. We had picked a quiet time to go into the swim up bar as we are not crazy!! Not sure we would have come if we had known in advance. We have been to other countries and resorts where he has been able to sit at a swim up bar and we have never had a problem as we stay with him or he’s had his older siblings with him. We raised it as an issue with management but were told that they are not going to change the rule which is their perogative. My husband remarked yesterday to a member of staff that it was a wonderful day and he got the response that “it would be in 20 minutes when I am off shift” , which was slightly shocking as in front of other guests. Not very appropriate even if it was meant as a joke. We have spent quite a lot of money to stay here. I’m not a serial complainer, as try to see things from other viewpoints, but feel that the hotel needs to be more consistent in its approach if it is truly worried about pool safety and alcohol. Better signs might help rather than just written on the blackboard in the pool which you can only read once you are in the bar area and a “no alcohol” sign in the second pool to keep things safer and less inconsistent. Good luck with policing the adults! Otherwise the resort is very nice and plenty of things to do and room is very comfortable.

Omg I went there 15 years and as a fine wine it got better with age. The staff are so friendly and only want to help there are lots of restaurants all brilliant we tried them all apart from the posh one. And sharon the boss what a pleasure to deal with even if there was a problem it was fixed straight away. The pizza restaurant was brilliant for the kids and plenty of room around the pool no need for the uk early morning towel reserve. Lunch was excellent with loads of choice and all you had to do was book a meal at the restaurant you wanted with valerie(did I get it right). My kids loved it and didn’t want to talk so used the golf carts all the time and the water sports we so good and the staff so helpful well worth the 10hour flight
