Upon coming up the hill (for arrival) I immediately noticed the beautiful desert and the amazing waterfall outside the resort. As soon as our driver stopped, the bell hops helped him and we're quiet friendly. Unlike outside, the lobby could use a facelift. The furniture was dated and the check in counter was small with on two clerks. Making check in take longer than it should. Although I will say the the women working in the lobby who made sure we received drinks immediately while waiting in the check in line did help the experience (they were friendly and the drink helped to take edge off of us having to wait). Once at check in, we where informed our room wasn't ready and that we had to wait so we decided to go to the beach. The beach was breathtaking. Although it isn't swimmable, it is private and peaceful. We sat under a palapa and enjoyed the sea breeze. About an hour later we went back up and our room was ready. Our room was an ocean view junior suite. I had requested a king bed and higher floor, and the resort managed to get both things right for us. Our fridge had soda (orange soda, 7-up, Pepsi, Diet Pepsi) and beers stocked, that room service replaced everyday. We also had a water filter/cooler on top of the fridge. The king bed (mattress, sheets, and pillows) was very comfortable. The room had a ac unit that we were able to set the temperature to our liking and the balcony was a good size. The bathroom didn't have a fan and some recent updates (paint and calking) were evident. The room had a safe and the entire room was very clean. They also gave us a complementary bottle of red wine! This resort has beautiful views. We where so impressed at the different views of the marina, town, the Sea of Cortez and the Pacific all from above. Even our view from our room was perfect. The pool bar was so much fun! The first day Hector was on top of everything, he was fast and efficient. The second day (at the pool) we where introduced to Imber (by another guest) and to the 'Imber margarita'. Imber was so nice to us and made us the special margarita every time we asked. The restaurants where amazing. Our first night we went to the Italian restaurant and Alexis waited on us. Alexis was the best server we had the entire time we where in Cabo. He was friendly, funny, attentive, and fast. For breakfast everyday we went to Don Diego. The breakfast buffet was enormous and had plenty of fresh options. I loved all the cheeses and breads, along with the fresh fruit. The juice options were also a nice touch. We also dined at Tortuga one evening. The scenery at Tortuga was beautiful (being on the beach) and I loved the salmon. The only food option we found disappointing was the lunch at Agave. We didn't like that we didn't have options (for more than one place) and that we had to do lunch outside where it was primarily buffet. It was very hot to be outside eating lunch. We watched a few of the shows while at Sandos and found the Michael Jackson show to be our favorite. All of the entertainers did a phenomenal job! We enjoyed seeing the shows and the passion of the performers. Overall we found Sandos to surpass our expectations. The views are amazing, the staff is friendly and efficient, and the entertainment is plentiful. We most certainly will return to a Sandos and will recommend them to our family and friends! More>

Sandos staff are #1!!!

This was our 6th visit, this time with our family, to the Sandos since becoming members 3 years ago.The location, food, Jr. suites, entertainment and beauty of the resort are consistently great, but the STAFF is what makes this resort top notch! (I'll review food etc. later) Jorge and Alvaro always there to greet with a hug! Carlos gave us fabulous adjoining rooms in the RE section that we requested (although we knew we weren't guaranteed this section for this year)But- he made it happen for us! Glenda was also very friendly at the front desk. Our concierge, Cesar was awesome. He is always most helpful and great to chat with. He would always check in with us to see if we needed anything.(although we're pretty easy-going people). I also need to give a big thank you to a couple of very special friends that have been with the Sandos since we joined. Ismael ("Ish"), the VIP pool bar manager, once again, took great care of us! Not only does he make great drinks, but very personable to talk to . He told us he had a b-day surprise for my daughter's boyfriend and boy did he! Ish and Cesar decorated the bar with balloons , signs , b-day cake and music too! Over the top! Our other special friend is the always smiling, Jannys, floor manager for Don Diego and Emilliano's in the mornings.(We've also seen her working Agave and the Cupcake cafe!) She takes great pride in her job and genuinely cares for her guests. When we have come for breakfast, she has a table ready for us complete with mimosas! Jannys started out as a hostess and we can see why she is moving up with her career. She is such an asset to the Sandos! There's so many other staff we need to mention and I apologize if I miss someone! Oswalso, Alberto, Maro who are always walking about greeting us, ensuring everything is going well. A big thank you to the restaurant , bar ,nightclub. and spa staff: Amazing Gaylord!, Diego, Joel, Javier (great new addition- he used to be our favorite waiter at another establishment in town!), Gaby, Karla, Coco, Alexandria, Abel, Ricardo, Levi, Eduardo(great conversations with him!) and Enrique. Thanks to Francisco at the 3rd pool and Jaimie in Tortuga. Amazing Norma and Fernando, great to see you both again! Also thank you, Magda and the other maids who do an awesome job! Now for the food etc: Cupcake Cafe: continues to have a great selection of Starbuck's type coffees and teas. The fresh chocolate donuts were a hit with my family! (The cupcakes and cakes are very fresh too, except the icing is out of a can?) Don Diego's buffet: great breakfasts -lots of choices and beautiful views too! Dinners are usually good too, except Asian is not a favorite. We only ate there once this trip on "French" night and it was very good. Lots of meat choices. (we're not big fish people) Therefore, I can't comment much on the seafood tho' I hear great things from others. My daughter had sea bass one night and loved it! Emilliano's: gets better every time! The lasagne is so much better this time and the other pastas are great! Other favorites from my family were the veal, scampi and amazing daily soups! Breakfast is also wonderful, with my favourite eggs benedict( or Waldorf) and pretty much anything else you want. Agave: has great fish tacos at lunch and very good steaks and ribs at dinner. Tortuga: Also great for breakfast (eggs benny there too) Lunch is very good also.( The chef sent a complimentary wood-fired pizza over- nice!) This was the first trip we had dinner there and the presentation was lovely! Our steaks had crispy onions on top and were cooked perfectly. The entertainment continues to be very good. The 'White Party' on the beach is great with good food, live music and dancers, complete with a fire show. The Michael Jackson show continues to be my favourite! Fredrico at the spa is very personable and continues to host good pilates classes and workouts. The ladies in the spa gave my girls great facials too. I do have one request for management from some of us at the VIP pool. It would be awesome to get a TV screen at the pool bar (no volume necessary), just to keep tabs on the sports i.e., soccer, hockey, basketball etc. I know this review was lengthy, but it is so important to recognize some of the people who help make the Sandos such an inviting place to be. Because of them, The Sandos continues to be #1 with us and should be closer to #1 on Tripadvisor! Kudos to you all! Cheers, Shannon (&Pat) More>

Idyllic visit to Cabo

I recently went on a solo trip to Cabo San Lucas and stayed at the Sandos Finisterra Los Cabos. It is an all inclusive hotel and I was totally satisfied with all the restaurants and the quality of the food. The breakfast at Don Diego was exceptionally good. From the moment I arrived until the moment I left, all the staff were very courteous, extremely helpful and went out of their way to accommodate any request to make me feel welcome. My room on the 6th floor had a lovely sea and swimming pool view and was very comfortable and spacious. The facilities were well maintained and I never had to wait in lines for food or drinks. In fact I never got the impression of being overcrowded in any way. The hotel is within easy walking distance to the town and the harbour. Overall, a lovely experience and one I hope to repeat with my husband and son. Well done Sandos Finisterra Los Cabos! More>

Sandol's has done a wonderful job of keeping the Finisterra Contemporary. No place in Cabo has a better view but unfortunately that view does not have a swimmable beach. Staff is courteous and helpful. Multiple pools, restaurants adorn the cliff side that this property sits upon. Most rooms have spectacular views of the Pacific or the Marina. Beautiful. Food is just Ok. All inclusive is the big push in properties of this ilk but would recommend a la carte that way you can sample some of the spectacular eating establishment within walking distance of your hotel. Excellent staff, nice property

The resort is just as it appears in pictures, no surprises! We were very pleased (overall) with our choice. As many others have said, the staff is who makes your stay enjoyable. Everyone goes out of their way to ensure you enjoy yourself to the fullest. Special thanks to those that make this resort standout: Inber (pool bar), Javier (lobby bar), Diego, Joel, and Pedro (Emiliano’s), David, Jorge, and Jay (Agave). These gentlemen were responsible for us thoroughly enjoying our stay. Pedro was particularly helpful in recommending a dish that provided the perfect blend I desired, thus creating the “Pedro Especial” (shrimp, garlic, tomato, olive oil, and linguini)! Please ask for it, you will not regret it. Summary of our pros: -As Expedia +VIP, we did receive a room upgrade, which we really appreciated. -Large water dispenser in rooms minimizes stocking up on bottled water for taking meds and brushing teeth, etc. -Very reliable mini bar service, restocked daily at the same time. -Excellent service in all the restaurants and bars. Not a great deal of options but the food was good, and the wait and kitchen staff accommodates special requests. -All employees (except “Concierge”….more later) were always friendly, made eye contact and greeted you with a smile and a delightful greeting. -Location…..well, it could not be beat, period. Summary of cons: -Concierge service is not that! Rather sales staff whose primary focus is to sell timeshares, plain and simple. We were prepared for it, and prepared to say no, which we did. However, we got hounded not once, not twice, but three times. Day one before we could even see our room, and awoken during the 8:00 hour on the mornings of day 2 (phone) and day 3 (door). After going through the routine on day one, please make sure they note in your portfolio not to bother you again (unless you wish to spend three hours of your first full day in a sales presentation). We went down to advise them of our preference after being awoken early on our first two days. A note was made to our portfolio and we were left alone thereafter. However, the woman who is titled “concierge” was as rude and unfriendly as a person could be. Concierge staff were the only employees in Sandos attire that were not pleasant and friendly wherever you ran into them. We also made the mistake of seeking assistance from Concierge with minor problems in our room. Never any follow-up. Always go to front desk, Concierge is a farce at this property. Not our first time in Cabo, not our first time dealing with the timeshare pitch, but this was completely over-the-top! Fortunately the level of service we received elsewhere on the property allowed us to still enjoy ourselves, but as you can tell it did leave a bad taste in our mouths. -Plastic cups: Recycling is great, but the same plastic cups are used for everything….then “washed” and reused over and over again. We received fresh drinks in cups that had lipstick on them, beer with strawberry residue, etc. Due to the high volume, particularly at the pool bar, cups are washed in a mad rush to continue serving. We did not find sanitation to be consistent with the cups. The use of the same recycled plastic cups for coffee drinks at the Cupcake Café was particularly senseless too. Two plastic cups and a thick napkin as opposed to a single insulated recyclable paper cup, just not ideal. -No bottled water: Works well with dispenser in room, but water is served in plastic cups just like all other drinks. Never had a cup of water that did not taste like something else This prohibits you from being able to grab water to take with you for a stroll on the beach or into town as well. Take a water bottle with you, as you will find it to be very useful. We would recommend this property to anyone, as long as the expectation is consistent with the information provided above. It is certainly representative of a 4 star property, not 5, but the value is very good considering the price is closer to that of 3 star properties in the area. Thanks Sandos, we will likely see you again in the future, but please refine the Concierge service protocol to be respectful of your guests privacy and preferences. More>
