Second time to the Sandos Finisterra within a year

We visited in September 2015 and the experience was good. We LOVE the location of the resort and the views are amazing. This time April 2016 the experience has been amazing. The food has gotten even better than before and the staff are wonderful. Jonathan the pool butler is every polite and such a hard worker. This is definitely the resort we will stay at every time we come to Cabo from now on. More>

Fantastic resort... even for families!

There are a LOT of wonderful places to stay in Cabo, but Sandos Finisterra is my family's #1 place to stay when we visit Cabo -- you literally walk out the resort and you're in the heart of downtown Cabo, shops, and activities. 1. Vacation club membership -- anyone can stay at Sandos, but you should be aware that they do have a "vacation club" and they may ask you if you would be willing to talk to a club recruiter. It's not a 90-minute presentation, but essentially a one-on-one conversation where they will ask if you'd like to become a member of the vacation club. You CAN say no and they are very respectful of this. You know who is a vacation club member because they are the ones wearing black wristbands. 2. Rooms -- my family and I were put into a super big room that had two doubles and a pull out couch. My kids tell me that the couch wasn't the most comfortable thing to sleep on. There are two room area to Sandos, the "member" area and the "non-member" area. The non-member rooms are pretty standard rooms but I saw the member rooms and they look modern and amazing. We did have some ants but it wasn't a big deal for us. 3. Dining -- Sandos has several dining options and I would say that our favorite place was the mega buffet at Don Diego restaurant. Our second favorite place is the italian restaurant. You can also order room service and food poolside. 4. Pool area -- My family and I absolutely LOVE the pool area at Sandos. You can lounge around all day long, order food and drinks poolside, and relax in one of the cabanas. Keep in mind that the cabanas are reserved on a daily basis. So, if you want one then you need to go to the Concierge area to reserve it -- and once you do it's yours for the day. I also like that they have activities around the pool and they even have grill outs -- hamburgers, hotdogs, etc. 5. Location -- Sandos Finisterra is in the lower part of the horseshoe and actually faces the Pacific Ocean. You get AMAZING views from both the East to West and you're located right in Cabo. The downside to its location is that the you cannot swim in the ocean because the tides are too strong. You can swim in the pools at Finisterra, which are beautiful. My family is more of the pool swimming type so we were perfectly fine with this. The other "downside" I would point out is that Sandos right by El Arco, so you can't actually see it from the resort. You have to think of the Cabo area as a kind of a semi-horseshoe. Most resorts are in the curve of the horseshoe, which is also where the better beaches and safer swimming can be found. The downfall to this is that you're also essentially committed to the resort area versus having the flexibility of easily exploring downtown Cabo. If you're someone who just wants to stay at the resort, lay on the beach, and take a taxi for any activity you want to do, then those resorts would be great for you.You also get a more panoramic view of the Gulf of California. 6. Wifi -- the wifi signal is strongest in the pool area and not that great in the rooms (at least it wasn't in our room). We feel the beautiful views, amazing pools, and access to the marina, downtown shops and local eating makes it a much better choice for us. More>

Amazing location and fabulous service!!

I stayed there 4/20 to 4/26 with a friend. We are both females in our early forties. This is my 7th stay in an all inclusive resort. This is one of the best I have been to. We were both very impressed by the service. When we arrived, our check in was quick and efficient. They ordered us a drink and the concierge quickly went over a map of the resort and the times of all the restaurants, which was immensely helpful. (We thought they were going to try selling us, but that is all it was). Then they took our bags to our room and showed us how the air worked, remote, shower etc. The rooms either face the ocean or the marina. I don't think there is a bad view in any room??? And I didn't read this in the other reviews, but the restaurants, cafes, bars, etc are on the side of a cliff overlooking the city/marina and the ocean. It is one of the most amazing views I have seen since Capri, Italy!! Absolulely amazing!!! We saw 3 weddings there and everyone we talked to had a great time and were pleased with everything. That says a lot about the resort as well!! The only CONS I can think of: -The room was slightly dated and minimal looking, but very clean. -I didn't realize you can't swim in the ocean on this side, too dangerous. That was a bit of a bummer. Don't stay on the Pacific side of Cabo if you want to swim in the ocean. -This is a very mellow resort. Great if you just want to relax. My friend LOVED that, I wish it were a tad more happening with more energetic pool activities/night life. PROS The service is impeccable!!! Everyone is very friendly/polite and very customer service focused. No matter where you are in the resort. Again, the breathtaking view in all of the restaurants, bars. café, etc The location is great. Right next to downtown Cabo. It is a 2 minute walk. Though I was super annoyed at how pushy and aggressive the retailers downtown were... Last thought, I know they say you don't have to tip at these resorts, but after talking to experienced travelers and learning how low the wages are for these employees in these countries, I decided I would tip anyway and am happy to do so. I can't say enough good things about this resort, especially the staff. Everyone we came in contact with was always smiling and gracious. Our Junior Ocean View room was spacious and spotless. We had ample towels and Sonia, our housekeeper, folded them into different shapes. She replaced shampoo other amenities regularly. There was an in room safe, iron and ironing board, and even a pull out drying rack on the balcony for wet bathing suits. I did miss having an alarm clock in the room, and an outlet close to the bed for charging my phone. The food was really good. The menus were very varied. I regret not being able to sample everything. I especially appreciated all the fresh fruit, available at every meal. The papaya, pineapple and melons were delicious. Don Diegos had a great buffet selection, and a view of the beautiful marina. Our waiter Jorge was so nice, and helpful. We had a lobster omelette at the Tortuga that was outstanding. The fish tacos and nachos at Agave were so tender, tasty and non greasy. Yum. We ate at Emilianos one evening. The bruschetta, eggplant, misto and ravioli were very good. The bartenders would make any drink requested. Try a Dirty Monkey. It tastes like a banana/coconut smoothie with kahlua. We had a couples massage at the Spa. It is a beautiful facility, very calming and soothing. Magda and Vichy gave us very relaxing massages. The hubby wanted to bring Magda home :) . The Wednesday nite beach party was the most fun. The buffet was delicious, and the entertainment was awesome.Drums and twirling batons of fire by the whole group, along with the dancing. There was even fireworks. It was our last night at the resort and it was a great evening on the beach. I would like to single out one hostess, Gaby. She had the most welcoming smile and made us feel very special. Whoever does the team building for the Sandos staff does an excellent job. This resort is located across from the Marina. We did walk through there one afternoon. The problem is all the hucksters trying to get you to go to a timeshare presentation or book an activity. They are relentless, and take away from the ambiance of the area. The beach is beautiful and there are ample umbrellas/seating to enjoy the ocean breeze. However, you can not swim here because of the rough water and undertow. The pools are very clean and there was never any problem getting a deck chair. There are also several jacuzzi to relax in. We were guests in room 1301 April 16 to 21, and we miss you all! More>

We have so many positive things to say about our stay at Sandos! We stayed April 8th to the 13th coming into Cabo to celebrate my birthday. We were greeted in the lobby and offered drinks then Claudia met with us to tell us about the resort and we were escorted to our room. The resort is beautiful, very clean, and fun but not overly crowded. I believe our room version was called Casita Finisterra. The room was large, bed was very comfortable, and the bathroom was beautifully updated. We had a balcony overlooking the marina. I love that Sandos does not require reservations for dinner! You could eat at any of the restaurants without having to worry about planning three days in advance like some of the other resorts. There are several food choices and I found the restaurants on site to be very good. Even the buffet had fresh options for breakfast and dinner. We were pleases with Chef Amador and Florencio at Don Diego Buffet. They were always going out of their way to offer fresh food choices or alternative options. The pools are excellent, there are three options so you can always find what your looking for whether that's music, activities, or just relaxing. There is a space for everyone. Visit the adult pool bar and Inber will take excellent care of you! Jonathan and Fernando in the pool area were also great. They work hard to make sure everyone is enjoying themselves. We did a few extras at the resort. My boyfriend planned a private dinner on the beach which was beautiful. We also used the spa/massage services. Spa Sandos is a relaxing retreat. I highly recommend exploring the services they offer. The service level at Sandos Finisterra is far above average. You will not be disappointed. More>
