Great service at this resort. Fatima was amazing as our concierge and made our stay enjoyable. Lucy made us omelettes everyday and they were amazing! Ventura went above and beyond taking care of us at the pool and rarely did we have a glass empty - he always made sure we had a fresh drink in our hands!! Charley was always entertaining and energetic keeping everyone engaged and smiling. Great entertainment staff overall.

great June vacation

Came for vacation June 12-19th. Had a wonderful time even though tropical storm Bud stole a day or two of sunshine away. The hotel was very clean and welcoming. The food was not bad, between a vegan, a pescatarian and a meat eater we all were able to find something good to eat at each meal. We spent most of our time when not walking around town at the adult pool. Alfredo was our server most days and he is so kind and a very hard worker. Please give him a raise!!:) Also a server in the buffet restaurant Panchos whose name I believe is Palma was so nice, hard working and we had a great conversation. The Employees at this hotel did a wonderful job keeping us entertained during and after the storm, Kuddos to the staff!

Decent property

This property has decent rooms with free WiFi, nice bathrooms, tv, balcony, and mini fridge. We stayed as an all inclusive, and while the service staff were all excellent, food at the property is less than expected. Unless you pay up to $90/night on top of the base price, most steak and seafood dishes will be extra. My advise is that unless you are a huge drinker, you would probably be better off just paying for the room and pool privileges and pay for food and drinks as you go. There are lots of good places to eat and drink within a mile or so of the property. There is a newly built gym with good equipment, and six nights a week (excluding Mondays) there is some live entertainment in the evening.

We had a great time. This is our home time -share so we go every year. The staff is really nice. Love the food and the shows. We love Mario and Freddy as well as Caesar. It’s a real relaxing time for us and not too far from home in CA.

Nice setting, rooms & pools but...

First off, I'll say, you get what you pay for. The $1,400 for 4 days, for two people, all inclusive, was reasonable for what we got. The rooms were large, the grounds were well maintained, the structures were attractive and the pools were great. Not being able to swim in the ocean was a major drawback which I was not aware until just prior to departure (too late to cancel or change properties) The passive-aggressive spiel with the 'personal concierge' at check-in was a turn off, right off the bat (I don't blame the associate AT ALL-I know what it's like when your employer requires you to sell, sell, sell. But we were NOT persuaded by the pitch nor did we attend the 2 hour session entitling us to free beach dinner/entertainment-not what we came for) Next the food-we would have loved the buffet everyday, every night. Not for eating till we were stuffed but for a more casual, relaxed meal. THREE nights we HAD to eat at the two 'fancy' restaurants as the buffet was closed (the Marco Polo required long pants for the men, no flip flops for the ladies) WAYYYY too formal for a low-key beach vacation. Very uncomfortable for us, tbh. The first night at the buffet with handmade tortillas, al pastor tacos and flan, THAT'S my idea of a Mexican vacation. Drinks at the bar were good but the soda tasted like water-I'd suggest cans of soda for quality and food safety. We had to call the front desk a few times to get some housekeeping issues fixed (same request, not addressed was getting a bottle opener for the beer-note to hotel: attach a bottle opener to the wall so guests will have it handy in case previous guest took it home) Lastly, I can't be sure if it was the food at Royal Solaris but 3 hours after that last breakfast, I was violently vomiting ON THE PLANE. So disregarding the illness part, we enjoyed our stay. The staff were very pleasant and attentive with several repeat servers who seemed to remember us (Vanessa at check-in, Marvin especially, so gracious!! Josue at the morning buffet, thanks for the pan dulce!! And David Castillo in Panchos’s-muchas gracias!) My tips if you decide to go: Bring $100 in ones for tipping. Makes it much easier. We kept going to the ATM & trying to be fair with pesos but dollars are more than welcome. Make sure your patio sliding door is shut if you’re running the air conditioning. When we couldn’t figure out why the air stopped working, the thermostat says DR and it’s telling you the door to the balcony isn’t completely closed. If you want to go swimming in the ocean, stay somewhere else. There is a ‘clothes line’ for wet swim suits in the shower that I only discovered on the last day. Men: If you want to eat at Marco Polo, bring a pair of LONG pants-jeans are ok 🙄 Women: Bring a pair of closed toe shoes-no flip flops at the ‘Polo. Toiletries were minimal. Bar soap, body lotion and shampoo. No conditioner, shower caps or shower gel. Bring your own sunscreen. We forgot and paid $17 at the ‘pharmacy’ across the street. Bring your own bottle opener 😉
