Great spring break vacation

This was our first time to the Dominican Republic- Punta Cana as a family of 3. Best things- waitstaff- we were extremely lucky to have two waiters that were amazing Mello (main buffet dining) and Joandri (snack bar/Steakhouse). These two gents were so friendly and welcoming. They knew our drinks without asking. Always greeting us with a high five. We actually went to Steakhouse 3 times just to see Joandri. The food was good. Ample choices for anyone. Desserts were ok - seemed to have a lot of coffee based so not my favorite. Soft serve ice cream available at coffee bar in lobby is yummy!!! Beach/pool areas are great. Plenty of choices for sun lovers and shade seekers. Only a few people selling stuff along beach but a simple no they go away. The water park even though small was really nice break to hanging out by the pool/beach. The funnel slide is AWESOME. Our daughter did that one at least 10 times. Ok the not bad but not great stuff - Rooms - pillows were not the best had to combine two to actually have the feeling like I had a pillow. Beds were ok good news we were so tired that slept great. Ample hot water for showers and loved our balcony however was unable to enjoy as we had smokers on both sides of us and it smelled awful. That brings me to my only and biggest complaint- I have no issue with smokers however separate rooming, eating and seating for shows would be great. While trying to enjoy our meals at the snack bar and main dining area we had smokers around us. For those with families and who don't smoke kinda ruins the meals. Think I should be able to enjoy my balcony as much as the next person and wasn't able to. Also we were surrounded just about every evening at the shows (moved our seats just about every evening to get away from it). All in all was a great vacation and would consider another vacation here.

The resort is perfect inside and out. Upon arrival, our party of 8 was welcomed and informed that it was our lucky day as we had been upgraded (all 4 rooms) to the adult only section for free. (Yes I did tip the receptionist! :D) Our rooms were not ready, but it was only noon, so we changed and went to the activity pool. The pool area is very nice. The area with the pool bar was never very crowded, although almost all the loungers were accounted for by that time. Once in our room, they looked exactly as in the photos provided. Very nice and spacious. We didn't mind the open concept, and we were first floor so our balcony/porch area overlooked the quiet pool. We had maid service each day, and our fridge was restocked on the 2nd day. There were extra large bottles of water in the room. The shower area is very large and the Mrs. loved that she wasn't cramped when showering. The restaurants that we tried were all very good. The buffet happened to have crab legs the evening we went. There is such a large selection of food and the quality is very good. There was no way to sample every dish. The steakhouse was not crowded when we arrived near 7 pm. As a matter of fact there were only 3 tables that were occupied. The steak was very good and cooked to order. Most others got the lobster and were happy with the selection. The next evening we chose the Japanese restaurant and again there were very few people in the room. The food is a bit different but each of us found something that we liked. The sushi was good to start! The service in this restaurant was much better only because the host and the server had such great personalities. It made our experience very pleasurable. And, although I brought a pair of pants, we were able to enter with shorts no problem. The casino is much nicer than at the GP. More machines, and more tables. The beach is very nice, and the loungers were never completely full. Our weather was awesome. Full sunshine and no rain. The Riu Palace Bavaro was one of the best resorts that we have ever been. This was our 2nd trip to PC, and we have been to Cancun 10 times.

It's a beautiful resort , better than the rest of the surrounding RIU Hotels. I was not aware that they were all literally next to each other. Gave it a 3 because we were very pleased with this resort but reading the "1"rating It is unacceptable to a hotel staff to not do anything about the scenerio regarding the 15 year old left in the room by herself and one of the staff members attempting to kiss her. I will be back to Dominican Republic but at the Hard Rock. Which is a true 5 star resort after visiting numerous times while on our stay. The beach is beautiful and walking distance . The staff was great with us being Spanish speakers. Do not know how it is when tourist only speak English. The sports bar is ok, The pool bar area is really fun just which they played music thorough out the whole time, we had to take our personal speaker. The room is nice has a hot tub and alot of beer soda and alcohol. The staff is great I have no complains about them. Do not recommend the clinic next to the hotel they will rack up your bill. If you are having trouble or an accident with anything go straight to the emergency at Hospiten. Clinic is $150 US for a visit that basically ships you to the hospital. Pay the $30 for the Hospiten taxi cab where visit is $250.

I stayed in the VIP area. The room was very clean and well equipped with everything you need. We had access to the VIP swimming pools which was very relaxing when you just want some quiet time. The food in the buffet was very good. The only specialty restaurant the we ate in was the steak house. The food there is very good. I ordered the filet and the lobster tail. The employees were very respectful and friendly. Leaury was our bar tender at the VIP pool bar. He is very friendly and a fun time. The weather was fantastic all week. Overall this is a very nice resort.

Wedding at riu palace bavaro

We have just returned from this hotel being there for my daughter's wedding. This is the first time at this hotel having spent four holidays at the riu palace Macao but we had children in our party so went to the bavaro. The hotel is clean, rooms comfortable and we found the staff very helpful although near to the end of restaurant service, the staff were looking tired and did not give a good service. Unfortunately we were there during the US spring break and the number of children, who were largely left to do their own thing by parents who had their noses glued to their phones, were very unruly and made the holiday unbearable. The staff did little to curtail their poor behaviour in the restaurants and lobby area where a couple of children used scooters which was totally unacceptable. The food was reasonable and my steak and lobster in speciality restaurant was good - also the Italian restaurant was good. Some of our party also had diarrhoea and I would ask the management to look at food hygiene as diarrhoea seems to be quite prevalent We were in the Vip area and this took us away from the very noisey main pool - which really is not big enough when the hotel is fully booked. The vip area was great and the staff excellent. However we noted during our second week that children as young as 13 were given vip access which was totally unacceptable as we had two children of 15 and 16 and they were not given access. Was this because other hotels had been overbooked and they used our area to take the excess? The wedding was wonderful and the planner very efficient. The beach is beautiful but Riu you need to take heed of the comments - I love the Macao but would not stay at the bavaro again. There appeared to be management staff all around the complex and they need to be more pro active in ensuring that families take control of their children and notices issued by the hotel are adhered to. For example - no inflatables - you could not move for them! We had a brilliant wedding but expected more from the hotel.
