MISS IT ALREADY!!

We traveled with a group of 24 adults and 1 child. We all had an amazing time. We’ve stayed at Riu properties before so we were aware of the modern look of the hotel, which I prefer, and pretty much knew what to expect from this hotel. It did not disappoint! Check-in was smooth and most everyone in our group received a free upgrade to the VIP villas. Some were able to just get the VIP bracelet so that they could join us at the VIP pool, which we never did because the main pool was much more fun. If I had it to do over, we wouldn’t have taken the upgrade because the VIP villas are much farther from the restaurants and main pool. Other than the fact that you have access to the VIP pools and a Jacuzzi on your patio, there’s really no difference between the regular rooms and the VIP rooms. Richard at the front desk is the best!! We all thought the food was great, and mainly ate at the buffet. We did try the Steakhouse for my husband’s birthday celebration, which was very good. I thought the Italian was good but we didn’t order from the menu except dessert, just ate from the buffet and that was enough. We ate at Krystal but didn’t try the Japanese. The Riu Palace Peninsula has the same restaurants so we knew what the food was going to be like. Really, the buffet has so many choices that it would be hard not to find something you would like. The service in the buffet was exceptional! Thank you to Wellington, Mello, Juan and all the other servers who treated us to well! The room was very clean and our maid, AnnaMaria did a marvelous job with decorating it for my husband’s birthday and all the towel sculptures and flower petals! Gracias AnnaMaria! Our fridge was always stocked with what I requested! The air conditioner worked too well! LOL!! The service at the pool was wonderful!! The towel person, Anthony, put towels out for our group every morning in our favorite spot! We didn’t even have to ask! Nice surprise! The waiters around the pool were very attentive and we never went without full cups! We even brought our own travel mugs and they always got our orders correct! That’s something when there’s 24 of us wanting drinks!! I really can’t say a bad thing about this place! We would definitely go back! More>

Amazing two weeks with family

Just came back from this great place... can't wait to go back :) We spent there two fantastic weeks with our daughter (3yo), our total rating to this hotel is VERRY GOOD. We had a family room (two double rooms with internal doors) and this was a great option, giving us a little privacy when the kid was sleeping in it's own room. All place is clean and give a expression of 5* hotel. Food is excellent (fruits are fantastic) lots of varieties, from seafood to beef etc. Above all the beach is outstanding... like a postcard :) Our daughter gave it a best comment " it's so good that we need to stay here forever" :) Great thanks to Nelson from reception - You make this stay a lot better for us :) Also the animation team deserves a big tip - Aleksandra is the person putting heart into work for 100% our daughter loves her :) Room service, bar staff, waiters - all was great (just gave them a dollar on start to keep them happy). Definitely worth to go – no complaints from our side – highly recommended. Mike from Poland. More>

Really enjoyed my last minute trip.

I wanted something inexpensive and all inclusive. I was happy with what I got. Yes rooms are old but kept very clean. Lobby pretty, staff very nice . Buffet not great but lots of fresh fruit. Beach gorgeous. Make reservations for non motorized water sports. Can not go if windy plan ahead, kayaking wonderful. Steak Dinner and Krystal Resturant wonderful , skip the Japanese it was awful. We had a garden room on lobby floor. We were right next to where they are building the water park so could not sit outside they were working until late at night. More>

The Pending American election has the Latinos on edge about The US tourist relations. The climate of US politics has sent a reverberating division between Latino citizens and US citizens. With the 50% split between US candidates, their thought process is we probably all feel the same way about them. I notice that it's now reflected in the service, and attitude. If your not out of your room 2 hours before checkout, the housekeeping staff is rude and obnoxious. They bang on the door, and call your room and hang up! At the resort I noticed that there was a high incident of reported thefts during my stay. They highly emphasized using your room safes. Our group of 27 had Broken air conditioning and refrigerators, with peeling walls in our room. our repeated requests for replacement/repairs were deflected and unanswered. Two in our group had money and jewelry stolen. I would never stay there again, rule to watch when making a purchase,"when they take out a calculator, your about to get ripped off" my best stay in Punta Cana was at Club Med and I spent a lot less. Main Resort areas and rooms are very clean. Bars, restaurants, pool and beach are nearby. Can enter other resorts also with wrist band. Various "A La Carte" restaurants are avail but the food quality is mediocre. Also one needs to fight off all the flies sitting at the food stations and food at the table. No mosquitos but hundreds of flies. Another issue we ran into is that our room door card reader stopped working and we couldn't enter the room; this was late night and stranded outside with our kids that already fell asleep; not a good experience at all, the staff had climb over from next room balcony; they still couldn't fix it and we had to move to another room; what a hassle it was and staff/manager didn't give a hoot. In general, the staff didn't go out of their way to help when needed. Outside resort, places are safe to go to, taxi or private transport is safe; take local dollars with you to get better deals; if not careful you'll get ripped off due to being a tourist. If you book through the tour guide folks at the resort, make sure you get everything in writing since they promised us something but when it came to they day of the trip nothing was as promised; we paid for a private bus for our group of about 30 people, that didn't happen; we paid for a private boat, that didn't happen; we were promised a private section on beach, that didn't happen; we weary of the con artists at that desk More>
