Stayed in the VIP area in Villa 4. Hotel gives a great first impression. Had some minor issues in the room which were fixed in a short time. Food presentation is excellent, also quality of food is good and definitely superior to other comparable all inclusive hotels in the country. The expresso in the Cappuccino bar is heavenly (my husband is Italian and he rates it 5 stars). Grounds are nice, nothing too fancy, the wood figures scattered around are fun to look at. VIP pools are nice and much quieter than the large pool where lots of animation makes for fun but also a lot of noise. Downside is that there are no designated smoke areas and we had to move places at pool, on the beach and in main restaurant several times. Rooms are nice and spacy. WiFi connection works poorly most of the time. We liked it best from the RIU hotels that are accessible and it gets a 4 stars rating from us. Still room for improvement however efforts from the hotel to seek feedback for improvement is noticeable and welcome. More>

We stayed at the Riu Palace Bavaro the first week of June. We were there to enjoy some down time and our anniversary. The Resort is beautiful, clean and modern. We were offered an upgrade to the Adult only villas but declined. I thought the extra money they asked for the upgrade was not worth it. We ate at the buffet every night. It was very good and if you could not find something that appealed to your taste buds then nothing would suit you. Lunch at the buffet was very good and our server OSVALDO made sure that my wine glass was never empty! We tipped, not sure if that made a difference or not but, a couple days he had our table ready for us and it was decorated with flowers. For breakfast we sat in the section that WELLINGTON served. He was very friendly and made sure we had our Mimosas and Hubby's hot tea at the end of the meal. The rooms were clean, we stayed in room 1129. The view was nice. Was not able to see the beach or ocean but not sure that any of the rooms would have an ocean view. Entertainment was not so good but, after spending all day in the sun, beach and pool it was not a big deal as we are early to bed. The beach is awesome!! Gorgeous white sand and beautiful blue water. There are waves as it is on the Atlantic side. But only about 20 minutes from the airport on the shuttle. We booked a non-stop shuttle because I did not want to go on the bus and take hours to gt to the hotel. Everyone we met was very friendly. We normally travel to Aruba but decided on something different this year. We would definitely go back again. This Resort is a wonderful place to relax and unwind. Any issue we had ( just a few, from the safe locking us out to the need for more towels) was taken care of almost immediately (remember you are on island time) Does not have WIFI everywhere (Lobby only) but, for us it was a welcome relief! For the money that we spent this place is wonderful.......if it works out we are planning to have all our kids and grand kids go with us next year! Don't hesitate.......BOOK IT!! More>

Just got back from Punta Cana yesterday. My friends and I stayed at RIU Palace Bavaro. We were extremely pleased with the resort. The rooms were nice and spacious. Housekeepers kept the room and resort as a whole very tidy. The staff there are extremely friendly and attentive. Wifi is not that great so you may want to consider adding an international plan to your service for the days you're there. The main restaurant has a good variety of food, so you're bound to find something you like to eat. We went to two of the al la cart restaurants - Krystal Fusion and Tanio (the steakhouse). Food was great at both, but we collectively agreed the steakhouse was the best!!!!! If you ask, you can choose 2 entrees instead of 1. There were lots of activities on the resort day and night. I'd highly recommend this resort and would definitely stay here again. More>

Great Hotel - Friendly Staff

The Staff is really friendly and helpful and the hotel really nice. Plenty of food choice (even though i preferred the buffet to the restaurants). Animation team is great and animations are offered every evenings. Compared to other all inclusive Riu I went, the food was slightly disappointing. We had one issue as we asked the hotel to book inbound and outbound taxi to the airport but in both cases it didn't show up so you should rather book your own taxi. The beach portion is quite small compared to other hotels in Bavaro but we really enjoyed our stay! More>

I normally never write reviews but before I booked this vacation I read the reviews on here and they seemed good so I booked. I will start with the good points. First off, the beach is beautiful and the property is very clean. We had a jacuzzi suite which was in a great location to the main pool, adult pool, beach, and restaurants. I'm sorry to say this is all the good I can say about this trip. For the negatives, as soon as we arrived to our room we opened the fridge to get some water and the fridge was hot. I called the customer service and they told me that they are not "cooling fridges" and only the light works. I went with 2 other couples and both of their fridges worked fine. They would not give us a working fridge. Another negative was the restaurants. First, you need a reservation for all the restaurants except for the buffet. One day we did an excursion and got to the restaurant 20 minutes late and they would not let us in. They were very rude about it. Through out our trip we tried all of the restaurants and all of the food was awful!! I am not a picking person by any means but this was bad. After every restaurant we ate in we couldn't even eat the food and had to go into the buffet after. The buffet was ok and had the best service by far! As far as the room service, there were 6 things on the menu, if you could even call that a menu. Most areas of the resort the service was really bad. We had to ask for things multiple times by multiple people just hoping to get what we needed. This was my first trip to Punta Cana and I will probably never return. We are from America and we do not speak Spanish. This was another issue I didn't like. It was very hard to communicate to anyone. We did an excursion and the tour guide didn't speak English. We didn't really know what was going on and felt it was a waste of money. Every country we had traveled to we were able to communicate because the hotel staff and tour guides spoke English and many other languages. Basically during this vacation we felt as a bother than welcome to the country. I have been on many many vacations and never wrote a review before but I felt this was necessary because I would want to read an experience like this. More>
