A wonderful honeymoon
,

We have just returned from the most wonderful honeymoon at the beautiful Riu Palace. There is nothing we can say that is negative. Having read the reviews before we went and read some since returning, the negative ones seem to be from people who are nit picking and looking for fault. The flight out was fantastic. On time and very comfortable. The staff worked incredibly hard ensuring a clean, confortable cabin with efficient service. Meet and greet at the airport was efficient and quick as was check in at the hotel. Our room was beautiful with dual aspect sea views and we had a bottle of fizz delivered to our room to celebrate our honeymoon. The room was spotless and towels changed twice a day. Food was incredible! There's something for everyone all day and the drinks were free flowing.... The beach is totally beautiful and we never had a problem finding an umbrella or shade. Even at 10 or 11am or later in the day. We didn't go to the pool but saw it being scrubbed by a man in a snorkel mask and a tiny brush early in morning! Jessie the rep was helpful and knowledgeable and went out of her way to sort a problem out that had occured with a trip (nobody's fault-just one of those things). The UTV trip was INCREDIBLE and an experience of a lifetime. The catamaran snorkelling trip was great for both of us-one to snorkle and one to observe and drink cocktails! All in all a wonderful honeymoon and Aruba, we loved you. You're a wonderful, clean, happy, beautiful island surrounded by gorgeous clean, sparkling, azure sea. Thank you. We will be back.

We have just returned from a 2 week all inclusive trip to this hotel in Aruba and had such a wonderful time that I wish I was back there. We had junior suites with sea view and we were not disappointed! The rooms were very clean and topped up with endless supplies of drinks in the mini bar and optics Towels were replenished twice a day. You don't need to take towels as the hotel pool/beach towels are great and can be changed daily, or as often as you wish. Food and drink is plentiful and really excellent quality. Either in the main buffet restaurant or the speciality restaurants you won't be disappointed Plenty of choice and quantity at any time of day (the Sports bar is open 24 hours a day with drinks and snacks) Around the pool the bar staff will come and take your order and then go and mix the most exquisite cocktails. A special mention about "Marly" a pool bar attendant who was friendly, polite, attentive and looked after us so well she is a credit to the hotel. In fact all of the staff, whether the entertainment team, the room cleaning team, waiting on staff in the restaurants were very friendly and efficient. I have only one problem which is not yet fully resolved and that related to my wedding flowers which were delivered to the hotel reception on my wedding day didn't get delivered to my room leaving me to get married, and have my wedding photos without my flowers. I had assumed I would get them from my planner at the venue but they had been delivered to the hotel an hour and a half before I left to go to the ceremony, and just left at the hotel reception desk! This was the only problem on what was an amazing stay in the Riu Palace and I would definitely return again.

Completely changed my POV about Riu resorts!

We stayed at the riu from July 14-18th. We won a trip to Aruba and we chose to pay extra to stay here instead of the holiday inn (so happy we did, the other resort looked horrible). I was very nervous about staying at a resort that was not adults only, since the Riu Caribe in Cancun was not a great experience and the Riu Republica in the DR had out of control drunken adults, I was not sure what to expect. Check in was super easy, and we had our room ready by 2:30. We had a fully stocked mini bar at all times, fresh towels and linens everyday too. The bathroom had a fantastic shower, and the maid left the room spotless each day. Our only complaints are that the pillows are so small I'm not sure a child would find them comfortable, and the balcony is super tiny, ours offered a nice view of the beach but also a not so nice view of the dumpsters from the resort next door (we stayed in room 539). The resort is easy to get around, no long walks or odd layouts. The beach is beautiful, but yes, if you are not out there at dawn you will not get an umbrella. Watch out however, because our one towel and my towel clips were stolen one morning. Keep in mind the beach is public, as we realized this when some locals tried to sell us drugs one night on the beach path near the Hilton. Bring a floatie too, the water is perfect for lounging in! The pool worried me at first, on day one there were a bunch of people taking shots from a bottle they got at duty free and rocking out to gangster rap while little kids swam around them. However, that was the only time anyone was inappropriate. All of the children we encountered were cute and well behaved. The adults acted like adults (see my review on the Riu Republica if you need a further explanation), and it was a nice time by the pool. We did not interact with the entertainment crew at all,but they seemed to do a nice job during the day keeping the activities going. The staff here are the best, Felix at the pool bar made amazing drinks with a smile, Robert took great care of us by the pool, making sure we had extra drinks and water. Ana at the upstairs outdoor bar is a sweetie, I needed ice from a small injury and she not only gave me the ice but made me an ice pack. These are hard working people, so please do not be like some of the guests and talk to them like they are nothing. All of the areas of this resort were spotless thanks to them! Try the blue coral and the rum runners, so great! The food is hard to review, as we took advantage of being so close to town that we ate dinner out four out of five nights. We did have dinner at the Japanese restaurant, no reservation needed. However, there was one waiter for so many tables, service was very slow. The sushi was delicious, as was the mahi mahi and the steak. The spring rolls and tuna tartar had no taste. We only ate breakfast one morning, and it was good. They have an entire area for gluten free items, and everything else you can imagine. We ate lunch at the restaurant next to the pool, and again, vast variety of items, but not everyone wants a heavy meal for lunch. They have a great salad bar, and if you are lucky, good sushi too. Better than most resorts we have visited when it came to food, but not the best ever. Overall we had a great stay and would gladly return, and I do not regret for one second not staying on the adults side. We went over there one night and it was like sitting at a funeral. If you don't nit pick and can enjoy the big picture you will have a great time here!
