I would like to see bar service on the beach and also doing lunch on the beach so people don’t have to worry about wearing their bathing suits in the restaurants. Also appreciated the gluten free options at breakfast but really need to add som gf desserts at the restaurants, like creme brűlée or flourless chocolate cake!

we had to get up very early to RESERVE a our palapas and chairs. there has to be a better system! And I think they should have reservations for the restaurants rather than have to stand around and wait 1 - 1 1/2 hrs for a table. over all things were great.

We loved staying at the Riu Palace. It was very clean and comfortable. The only complaint we had was that the beds were hard, but usually we were so tired it didn't affect our sleep. The nightly entertainment was great, especially the Mr. Riu show! I wish that they had the entertainment information posted somewhere so you knew what time and what show was going to happen. We missed majority of the show on our last night in Aruba, which was disappointing because it was the acrobatic show. From what we saw of it at the end it would have been amazing to see the whole show. The beach and pool area are very clean. If you want one of the huts on the beach you need to get up early and put your stuff out on it to save it. We never had a problem getting one though. We aren't very big drinkers but what drinks we had they were good, they put enough alcohol in them but not too much. The food was good, lots of variety at the buffet. Each night they had a different theme for dinner. The other restaurants were ok, a little confusing how they worked. This was our first time at an all inclusive resort and they didn't really explain how things worked in the restaurants, they just assumed everyone knew. We ended up mostly eating in the buffet restaurant. Overall we really enjoyed our stay and would definitely consider going back.

I was very disappointed in the fact there was mold in our room. When I asked to change ,as I have asthma, was told no other rooms available. I took pics if you would like. 2nd, the DePalma rep for Apple knew nothing about the extrasame we were suppose to recv. L I keep some type of credit?would still like to know about this. Also, we were suppose to be able to eat at riu AND Riu Palce. Riu would only let us try buffet, n I think restaurants. theservice and the food , the beach and rest of the ho

The RIU Palace resort was just as beautiful as it looked on-line. Check-in went very smoothly and we were directed quickly to our room. Our Junior Suite with ocean view did not disappoint! It was on the top floor with a big walk-out balcony that had stunning views of the beach and ocean. The sunset each night was breathtaking! Our room was fine for the three of us, our son slept on the foldout coach. The bathroom was spacious enough to easily change in, and the double sinks were a nice touch. The restaurants and bars were easy to find. The food was typical of all-inclusive resorts, but we felt it was the best of the other resorts we have visited. The lobby bar served the best drinks, the pool bar the worst. They seemed too busy to really pay attention to what they were making. I swear my dirty monkey cocktail was just chocolate milk, you couldn't taste any alcohol. The strawberry margaritas were awful too, just sugar water and tequila. Our son really liked the coffee shop and pastries. The beach was clean and great to spend the afternoon. We always found a lounger and never felt crowded. The night entertainment needed some work, lots of bad acting and singing. The poolside entertainment was much better and fun to watch. Overall a great family vacation!

My wife and I went here in January 2019. I had watched many YouTube videos and read many reviews. I was expecting luxury. I did get that! The hotel itself is beautiful and majestic looking. There is a slight smell of smoke in the lobby since the casino entrance is there. The decor is cool. Lots of pink and I'm a little confused by the zebra stripes LOL....but it was clean and beautiful. The staff is very nice an accommodating. The other guests however seemed a bit rude. Quite rude actually. Not sure if we were there on a bad week for attitude but some of the other guests were nasty. Weird. Our Junior Suite on the 7th floor facing the ocean was all I could have imagined! What a view! The main pool is massive and well kept. The beach is ok. I like Cuba's beaches WAY better. I saw Baby Beach, Eagle Beach and Palm Beach and many little beaches up the coast. For real.....Cuba's beaches beat Aruba's by far. But that's just my opinion. We rented a jeep from the lobby area and toured the entire island. We went to the typical attractions, The California Lighthouse and such. We went to Zeerovers restaurant and it was amazing!!! But that's another review. :) The island is very small. You can easily drive it all in one day. We also did the UTV 4 hour tour. It was worth every penny!! What a great time we had. It's very bumpy and very rocky terrain but it's so much fun. DO IT!!! The food was very good. This is where Aruba beats Cuba. The steak at the Steakhouse was great. The saviche was yummy. Crystal was ok I guess. Wasn't all that some people said it was. The buffet is plentiful and delicious. There are many vids on YouTube showing it. With access to the resort next door (RIU Palace Antillas) we went for a visit and to have lunch there. This is where the staff and the other guests were quite rude and offputting. It was so weird! Anyway....I'd go again if it was a great deal but not really a place I'd go a second time really.

Third times a charm! We visited Aruba for the 4th time for a week, the end of March to early April. This was our 3rd stay at Riu Palace Palm Beach. We were not disappointed! Beach is awesome (even if you must rise early, 5-6 a.m., to claim a hut with good location), buffet had a large selection including very good seafood, with good food and a Mexican band for Mexican night. Rooms are cleaned and checked daily. Left smelling fresh with everything very clean. You are at the beach, so expect a mustiness to appear as the day goes on. Air conditioning was adequate, ceiling fan helped a lot, as humidity can be high. Expect sand on the floor as you come in and out during the day, take your shoes off when entering if it bothers you. This is an older hotel with only 2 elevators that seem to run on Aruba time, which is slow paced. We got free snorkeling equipment at hotel stand and had an awesome time checking out a multitude of fish just off jetty. You can get free scuba diving lessons at the pool as well, if that's your thing. Never very stormy there. If it rained, it was a quick sprinkle and then over. Never had to leave the beach! Lots of fun activities, daily stretching, pool aerobics, bingo, group dancing at the beach bar etc. Bar tenders are great! Try their brown lady, just like a dessert! You can ask for better alcohol instead of the organic type normally used if that's your thing. Beds were comfortable for us, firm mattresses. Nice walkway, about a mile all down the beach to other hotels with casinos (try the Hyatt, and Hilton - better assortment of machines,) beach bars and little shops. Across the street lots of restaurants and shops. A little street bazaar in afternoon there as well. Over all, we love Aruba and the Riu on Palm Beach. Can't wait to go again for more fun in the sun!

Great all-inclusive resort in an awesome location

This was our second trip to Aruba. We only stayed 5 nights which was not nearly long enough. We chose the Riu Palace for a couple of reasons. First, my boyfriend prefers all-inclusives on every island we visit. Second, we wanted to stay on Palm Beach as it is close to all the action with beach bars, restaurants, shopping and entertainment all within walking distance. Third, we got a really good deal Amoma.com. We took the Depalm Tours private transportation from the airport and the hotel and it was only a 15-20 minute ride. It was only slightly more money than taking a taxi and we had someone greet us at the airport with a sign with our names on it and picking us up at the resort at a time you specify to go back to the airport. Everyone said to get to the airport 3 hours before you flight was due to depart so that is what we did. We left on a Monday and we were through check-in, security and customs in less than an hour. But we heard if you leave on the weekend you will need 3 hours. BTW, if you are traveling back to the US you go through customs in Aruba before you leave and don’t have to go through customs when you arrive at the airport in the US. It was great. I wish all the islands would do this. Arriving at the Riu we were greeted with champagne. Our room was not ready as we arrived around 1:30. Reception gave us our wristbands and so we decided to go to lunch at the restaurant by the beach and then take a little stroll down the beach boardwalk to check out what has changed since we were last here 13 years ago. We booked a basic suite. Our room was large, very spacious bathroom with a rainfall shower and 2 small balconies (one with chairs). In our opinion the bed was quite hard and pillows were horrible! Didn’t make for a good night sleep but we managed. I guess some people like a very firm mattress so this will be fine for them. We had a view of the Antillas resort next door and a side view of the ocean. Our maid was wonderful. Our room was spotlessly cleaned everyday by the time we got back from the pool/beach, plenty of towels, turn down service and towel art most days. Mini bar and liquor dispenser was fully stocked. The Riu is a good size resort but not too large. We utilized the Adult Only Antilles quite frequently during our stay. The pools at both resorts were great but a little chilly. It was windier than we remembered. The lobby is big with a nice indoor and outdoor bar, sports bar and casino. The beach was as beautiful and calm as we remembered. Our last visit we had the most beautiful sunsets and this time the clouds didn’t cooperate, so the sunsets weren’t as spectacular. No beach bar here or beach service which was a little disappointing, but it wasn’t a long walk up the pool bar for a drink. Bring your thermal mugs as the drinks a served in small plastic cups. The bartenders cannot fill your mug, but you can order a couple of drinks and pour them in yourself. We went to Bugaloe bar on the pier, a short 1 minute walk down the beach from the Riu, a couple of nights to watch the Travel Session band. So much fun and a great band! The hotel had a Steakhouse, Italian, Arubian and Fusion ala carte restaurants. There is no reservations so you just have to go in a get a buzzer and wait for your table. Many people said the wait was going to be way longer than the hostess stated. We tried to wait for the Steakhouse and Italian buzzer to go off but ended up eating at the buffet every night instead. The buffet at this resort is amazing. Endless choices that changed every night. All kinds of meats, seafood, fish, a pasta station, salads, side dishes and desserts. Everything I tried was delicious. Breakfast and lunch buffet were enormous and delicious as well. You are welcome to use the buffets, bars and pools at the Antilles also as long as you are over 18. Both resorts had different bands each night for some great entertainment or you could go outside the front of the hotel for many other dining and entertainment options. That is one nice thing about Aruba as opposed to other Caribbean islands we have been to, is the ability to safely walk out of your hotel and in minutes have many entertainment choices at your fingertips. The entertainment staff was wonderful. Actually, the entire staff at the Riu were great. Everyone was so friendly. There was always something going on and so much fun to be had. Or you could just chill in a quiet spot away from the craziness. We also did the Palm Pleasure Snorkel Catamaran and the Arubiana UTV excursions, which I will write a separate review for these. They were both awesome! We had an amazing time in Aruba, with perfect weather every day, great food and endless entertainment. We will definitely be back to Aruba, One Happy Island, one day and would highly recommend the Riu for a great all-inclusive vacation!

Love Aruba... Last time at Riu Palace
Alanna I,
Mon Apr 08 06:37:34 EDT 2019
This was my 6th time in Aruba, 4th time staying at Riu Palace. Aruba is a beautiful island, weather is always amazing and people are very kind. It's a safe island where you can rent a car and drive around with no issues, you can go out at night and walk the town and feel comfortable. I would love to visit Aruba again one day but this will be the last time staying at Riu Palace for a while. Let me first say that overall this hotel is ok and you will enjoy your stay, IF you are paying a decent price there is value. Reception: We arrived at Riu palace with a few requests: Partial ocean view room, 2 rooms one with king size bed, one with 2 separate beds, and rooms close by. This is our 4th time staying at this hotel (4 years in a row) and every year we had a partial ocean view room overlooking the main pool area. This time however our view was partial ocean view but directly below us was a parking garage. Not very nice. Also we did not get the 2 double beds we requested so we returned to reception. We told them this is our 4th time here so we expected them to be helpful and kind. They started off with an apology that sounded like a routine and not genuine or caring at all. They said that if it was our 4th time here we should know that the standard rooms only had king size beds. She told us the pull out bed is all they could do and that the hotel was full. I know for a fact the hotel was not full upon our arrival, (the following days, I could tell because i've been to the hotel many times). But thats fine, maybe i'm wrong. She also gave us the option to move the next day, but honestly that is not the hospitality i was expecting after giving this hotel tens of thousands of dollars after 4 visits. Riu, no one wants to move their items once they have already settled in! We went back to our room and took a look at the couch. It stunk. It was permanently wet. It must have been filled with mold. I didn't even feel comfortable putting my carryon on it. So we made do with what we had unwillingly. Room: The shower and washroom area was fine, everything worked well. The rooms are a little boring and outdated but thats fine and not that important to me. Overall rooms are good except the couch. The pillows are terrible so bring your own if you can. The set of drawers to store your clothes had disgusting smell to them, very strong. I tried spraying them with perfume but it over powered my perfume. But theres space to hang your nicer clothes up so that was fine. Cleaning: The cleaning staff was amazing, great job! they change the sheets everyday. Room smells very clean when you return from the beach. Thank you!! Entertainment: This was the worst part of the trip. Over the 4 years the entertainment team has changed quite a bit. The karaoke show was supposed to start at 9 and didn't start until 9:45, the team was so unorganized, the main guy would get up on stage and say the same thing every night, same jokes over and over. He would always want the music to be louder, he would tell the other girls to raise the volume and it was painfully loud and made us want to leave. Also they would play gangnam style and baby shark every singe day multiple times. It was brutal. I would have loved to hear spanish music, bob marley or something that puts you in an "island" mood. Literally anything else would have been ok. He would also sing every morning and a few nights, sad slow love songs songs like ed sheeran perfect, or love on the brain- rihanna. It just made you feel so sad and bored!!! Same songs everyday and night got old really quick. It was either baby shark or slow love songs. What a weird mix. This was new, and unlike other years where music made you want to dance and have a good time. Food: Food was good overall. Their veggies could be seasoned better. There was a lot of variety but the quality was just ok. Overall you will be able to eat there and not get sick but its still just a buffet. There's a good salad bar, one night they were making spaghetti and twirled it in a parmagiano (parmasean) cheese wheel. It was amazing, as an Italian i approve! We did not try the a la cartes. I found a few pieces of fruit with mold so that wasn't fun. Service: Service was great at all the buffets, they were kind and helpful. No complaints here overall really good. I would say try to sit in the open not around the corners because sometimes they cant see you and dont come to pick up your plates. Bar service is good, they switched over to paper straws which is fantastic!!!! Hopefully they find a paper cup alternative too. ALSO - visitors, this isn't your island. Pick up your garbage!!! I couldn't believe how many people left their plastic cups in the sand. Barbaric. You wouldn't want someone to trash your home country. The ocean is metres away, common... Beach: One of the most beautiful beaches you'll see. Its huge and the water is gorgeous. The hut situations is rough, you need to get up early (6:30) and put your towels down to reserve a hut. The first few days weren't too bad (hotel definitely was not full) but later in the week it got a lot worse. This is pretty common in Aruba, i know at the Hyatt you need to pay 50-60 USD to reserve a hut everyday. So it could be worse. Hotel: They updated the hotel lobby 3-4 years ago. Unfortunately i'm not sure who advised them to make it pink and zebra print because its pretty tacky. But the rooms, hallways, balcony, pool, etc are due for an update with the price they are charging. Im 25 and the crowed is a lot older. Definitely not a party place if you're looking for that. Good for older couples or young families. Overall Aruba is one of the best places to vacation, maybe live/retire one day. I had a good vacation because of the country, weather, and kind people. I recommend renting a car and driving to some of the key places. Quadikiri caves were fantastic, butterfly farm was really nice, natural bridge is cool. Lots of things to see.

Yes to Aruba!

Ok.. booked a junior suite frontal sea view.. so our room ended up being in the main building facing the ocean which was a plus. It was room 617 so on the left hand side which was also fine. The room was very spacious.. bathroom was nice loved the shower but no tub. The balcony was perfect.. plenty of room. Most of the rooms in the building on our right did not have a sitting area on the balcony. The only disappointment with the room.. the bed was terrible. It was two full size beds pushed together (not even locked together so they didn’t push apart).. so here we are trying to sleep beside each other on a full size bed.. and it also wasn’t very comfortable as far as the mattress itself. The beach here is amazing. We walked around the area by several other hotels and the beach at Riu is by far the best as far as space. The water is amazing everywhere obviously but there’s plenty of room at Riu. Usually around 11am everyday we were able to get a hut and lounge chairs without a problem. One morning I got up at 7:30a to get a great spot in the front and every hut had already been claimed.. ended up going to the pool until around noon. It was always easy to find a spot by the pool though. The towels were actually nice.. pool bar service was good. There was no beach drink service. Walking around.. right by the Riu there is a beach bar called bugaloe where we had lunch one day. The food was great.. service a little slow. Great view. You can walk the side walk on the beach for several blocks then cross the street and walk back by many shops and restaurants. Ok. Food. The buffet is pretty good especially breakfast (pancakes!) The dinner buffet changes a lot.. the tacos were amazing. There’s something for everyone. Good service. The Japanese place.. the spring rolls I ordered were terrible and neither of us were impressed with our entrees. The Italian was good.. the appetizers were wonderful (salads and antipasta). The actual entrees were ok.. We didn’t try the Krystal restaurant or ever eat dinner at Nautilus (steakhouse) which also serves lunch (buffet same as the other for lunch). The lobby level bar was nice as well as the sports bar beside it (which has snacks). My room was always cleaned very well and the fridge had cokes, water, and beer at all times. Compared to other all inclusives I have been to.. they didn’t give you a daily newsletter in the room with the activities and entertainment for the day. I never did figure out where it was posted. My other complaint is the room service menu has about 5 things on it. Everyone I interacted with was friendly and helpful. I would recommend this resort overall.. the room was nice and spacious. The beach is gorgeous. The food is mediocre all inclusive style food where I’m sure you can find something.
