Check in was addressed as a group. Not one on one. Room had an odor to it. The furniture in standard rooms smelled like sticky feet. Asked to upgrade to mini suite since that furniture smelled ok, but they wanted $60.00 more a night. Poor rating was not available for this survey. Dissapointed.

This is the third time staying at the Riu Naiboa since its remodeling . The rooms are clean and comfortable. The food has been upgraded with a good selection of different dishes. They have added a water park that both adults and children can enjoy. There is a walk to the beach down caribbean street that we enjoyed the beach is beautiful with a beach shack for lunch if you do not want to go back to the hotel . I recommend this hotel for the budget minded.

I cannot believe how much I hated this hotel! We had to move because I got so violently ill- I would be embarrassed to represent this hotel- the Riu next door was so a great improvement but from this experience it will be a long time before I ever consider using apple vacations again- for $2000 it was a major let down

The price of $3885.00 compared to the rating this time was not worth it. The food was acceptable but nothing changed on a daily basis. You had to wake up before 7:00 am to see the mafia looking guy to make your dinner reservation at the one restaurant. they only accepted about 25 people a night for the 7:00 sitting. I am not eating at 9:00. That was awful. The beach was dirty and horrible. The plane was horrible.

The overall trip and stay was nice. The beds were excessively hard and uncomfortable. We have stayed at other Riu resorts before and found the food selection very limited this trip compared to others. The service was excellent from all of the staff. It just seems like this resort is the economy riu of the Dominican Republic.

Our room was very nice, clean and our maid kept our frig stocked with plenty of water and drinks. The food was mediocre, a lot of the food was the same day after day. The coffee was instant coffee, if you want the better stuff you need to go to the Buda Bar . there you will find cappuccino and espresso. very hard to get dinner reservation at restaurant,, we were told we had to see the manager of the buffet at 6:45 am to book time and then we were not going to be guaranteed a table.

We actually switch hotels to the RIU Macao as the room at Niaboa was really small and we were overlooking the parking lot. Also heavy sewage smell. The Macao was great!

The hotel staff didn't listen we told them everyday that the refrigerator was not stocked they said that happens sometimes and did nothing to fix the problem they also put us over the nightclub that stays open til six am food was awful the only thing nice was the weather was sick for three day's talked to front desk almost everyday about somethings and in one ear and out the other this hotel was by no means a four star would really have to look again before traveling with Apple you should sent someone down there without telling them who you are and see how they treat you....

The staff for the most part was very willing to help us with anything. I found a cockroach in our room the 1st night, but never again. The food was very bland. We were under the impression we could go to any of the pools, restaurants, and bars within Riu and that was not so, we could only those at Naiboa. The excursions were fantastic! Loved Omar from Amstar, he was very helpful. The beach was beautiful! The shops on the way to the beach we ok on prices, but the vendors were very pushy. We called for more soda on Tuesday and were never told that the staff that stocks this was not in and we had nothing to mix the drinks with until Thursday, even tho we called numerous times. The stay was ok only due to we didn't spend much time in our room.

Terrible rooms

When we got there we had to wait until the rooms were "ready" about 3 pm. when we finally got the room, it was a 2 single beds, we requested a king bed. the room stink like mild dew and it was the last room on the 4th floor. we had to walk quite a bit to get to the room. we complained about the smell so they gave us another room on the first floor, facing the swimming pool (the best they said). the room smelled like mild dew and the phone didn't work, the tv didn't work either. they said they would send someone to fix it but they never did. there were no face towels to use, no complementary soup, shampoo, NOTHING. The servers were great but they don't smile too often even when you say thank you or tip them. the air conditioning didn't work and it was unbearable. I WOULD NEVER GO BACK THERE AND WILL NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE EITHER.

A group of 20 friends visited this resort Feb 2019, the resort was just average to begin with, and I noticied false statements from the ad for the resort, such as a meal exchange with other Riu resorts in the same area, no such plan. Also the ad stated the resort was up-dated, not likely. During the one week we were there, we had no water, on and off for about 8 hours, and the next day and 1/2 we had air conditioning. I spoke to the Manager of the resort and expressed our concern, and disappointment Alejandro (Manager) said we should have gone to another resort in the area if we wanted ammenities. I was not aware water and air conditioning at a resort were considered ammentities. I have reached out to the Riu Resort headquarters, but, no surprised no response.

The first night we arrived at the Riu Naiboa we got to our room an their was a guy outside our balcony master bating. Went downstairs to the front deak to report it they said it would be taken care of. Nothing was done. A few days later we went to the enterainment show once it was over we returned to our room to yet another person outside master basting. I once again went to the front desk where the person working came with me to my room an also witnessed this. We also had pictures. They said someone would send security there right away again no one went back there. The next morning I went to the front desk again to find out whats being done about this as i booked this vacation the notion that it was a childrens resort. I was told by the assisant manager ( Alex) that I was lying even with the pictures an that what if its someone having a piss. they were not having a piss. an that doesnt make it any better. They offered to move us only if I signed a paper when i refused to sign the paper in spanish they moved us to another resort for our last day. The hotel bathrooms are disgusting. The water smells horrible. Someone also walked into our room while my son was sleeping on the bed. We never asked for anyone to come to our room. The manager at the hotel was extremely rude an didnt care about the customer. We had a cell phone stolen. We will never ever travel threw sunwing again or book at any Riu resorts again. Thousands of dollars wasted.

This hotel was very good. The rooms were a bot dated but very clean and quite comfortable really how much time do you spend in the room. It was great being so close to the waterpark a quick 5 min walk. We spent most of our time at the pool and the waterslide. It was never busy and we were always able to get a place to sit and it was March break. The food was very good I would have liked to see a bit more local fare but everything was very good. We spent most of our time at the buffet it was perfect everyone got to choose what they liked best. I also have to give a shout out to the front desk staff we requested a new room after our first night as we were travelling with a small child and our room was located right behind the lobby bar and show which was very noisy. They moved us to a room at the other end of the hotel that day and we were able to enjoy a great peaceful, restful holiday!!

Hotel looked lovely on arrival. We paid extra to stay in the junior suite (£360) which was nice however the bed was so uncomfortable and being a 23 and 24 year old couple our backs were in a total mess. So we asked reception if there was anything they could do and they moved us to another room to find out it was a downgrade and to be told the bed was a lot better, to find it was just as bad. So we wasted £360. Food is very very poor no variety the same stuff every night, you would be in your element if you were a rabbit as the only thing that was ok was the salad. The only thing we can give credit to is the entertainment team round the pool if you don’t want to join in the actvities they ask you once and that is it. However if you do join in they are very friendly and welcoming. The TUI rep couldn’t be bothered talking to us the day after we arrived as we had never been here before so there was a lot to learn about the country. He shut us down and said if I sit here and tell you everything I’ll be here all day. He wasn’t interested at all. He couldn’t be bothered explaining anything. Also we booked this hotel as we were told we can go in all of the riu resorts to then find out we can only look around them. Very poor advertisement and not worth the money whatsoever won’t be coming back and won’t be recommending it to friends and family.
