Poor rating not available?

Check in was addressed as a group. Not one on one. Room had an odor to it. The furniture in standard rooms smelled like sticky feet. Asked to upgrade to mini suite since that furniture smelled ok, but they wanted $60.00 more a night. Poor rating was not available for this survey. Dissapointed.

This is the third time staying at the Riu Naiboa since its remodeling . The rooms are clean and comfortable. The food has been upgraded with a good selection of different dishes. They have added a water park that both adults and children can enjoy. There is a walk to the beach down caribbean street that we enjoyed the beach is beautiful with a beach shack for lunch if you do not want to go back to the hotel . I recommend this hotel for the budget minded.

I cannot believe how much I hated this hotel! We had to move because I got so violently ill- I would be embarrassed to represent this hotel- the Riu next door was so a great improvement but from this experience it will be a long time before I ever consider using apple vacations again- for $2000 it was a major let down

The price of $3885.00 compared to the rating this time was not worth it. The food was acceptable but nothing changed on a daily basis. You had to wake up before 7:00 am to see the mafia looking guy to make your dinner reservation at the one restaurant. they only accepted about 25 people a night for the 7:00 sitting. I am not eating at 9:00. That was awful. The beach was dirty and horrible. The plane was horrible.

The overall trip and stay was nice. The beds were excessively hard and uncomfortable. We have stayed at other Riu resorts before and found the food selection very limited this trip compared to others. The service was excellent from all of the staff. It just seems like this resort is the economy riu of the Dominican Republic.

Okay Hotel

Our room was very nice, clean and our maid kept our frig stocked with plenty of water and drinks. The food was mediocre, a lot of the food was the same day after day. The coffee was instant coffee, if you want the better stuff you need to go to the Buda Bar . there you will find cappuccino and espresso. very hard to get dinner reservation at restaurant,, we were told we had to see the manager of the buffet at 6:45 am to book time and then we were not going to be guaranteed a table.

We actually switch hotels to the RIU Macao as the room at Niaboa was really small and we were overlooking the parking lot. Also heavy sewage smell. The Macao was great!

The hotel staff didn't listen we told them everyday that the refrigerator was not stocked they said that happens sometimes and did nothing to fix the problem they also put us over the nightclub that stays open til six am food was awful the only thing nice was the weather was sick for three day's talked to front desk almost everyday about somethings and in one ear and out the other this hotel was by no means a four star would really have to look again before traveling with Apple you should sent someone down there without telling them who you are and see how they treat you....

The staff for the most part was very willing to help us with anything. I found a cockroach in our room the 1st night, but never again. The food was very bland. We were under the impression we could go to any of the pools, restaurants, and bars within Riu and that was not so, we could only those at Naiboa. The excursions were fantastic! Loved Omar from Amstar, he was very helpful. The beach was beautiful! The shops on the way to the beach we ok on prices, but the vendors were very pushy. We called for more soda on Tuesday and were never told that the staff that stocks this was not in and we had nothing to mix the drinks with until Thursday, even tho we called numerous times. The stay was ok only due to we didn't spend much time in our room.

Amazing time

So, I booked this hotel and then read the reviews and started to dread going on my holiday I was thinking of ways o could get moved to a different hotel. Well let me tell you they are wrong it’s a fantastic hotel. Yes a little run down in places but wouldn’t you be if you had been hit by hurricanes. The staff were so friendly, there was always staff around, the rooms were bright and fairly large I was on the top floor and it was brilliant to watch the small storm we had while I was there. Fairly large balcony with a small table and 2 chairs. There is a free safe in the rooms which I’ve never had with any other hotel chain, large walk in shower with a shelf for your toiletries, one down side might just be me but I found the toilet rather low. Bars there is the buda bar which is the pool bar staff very friendly and there is a bar menu but they will mix you pretty much what ever you want that’s open 10-6 then you have the main bar that’s open 6-6 they do the same drinks. But all the staff are brilliant there my favourite cocktail was the Lumumba it’s basically a chocolate milkshake with brandy sooooooo tasty. Food was a little disappointed with the food I was expecting more Caribbean flavours jerk that sort of thing but it was ok there was always something I liked loads of fish. You also get this little card and by the pool is a little hut and you get free pool/beach towels again something I’ve never had with any other hotel chain. Saves on luggage space. The WiFi is also free through the whole hotel. On the whole I really enjoyed my stay here and would definitely come back the only thing that I think would make this hotel better is maybe themed food nights and a swim up bar that would just be the icing on the cake.

Firstly I cannot believe some of the bad reviews I have seen for this hotel. It is 4 star not 5 and all the staff are amazing!! The rooms & bathrooms etc. are all really clean. The animation team put on a great show day and night, but I would advise walking the few minutes to the beach for a bit of a breeze. The beach bar is brilliant a really good relaxed holiday vibe, and the beach bathrooms are really clean (unheard of normally). The food is varied and fine, you will never go hungry at any of the restaurants. I would like to point out some of the staff that went above and beyond, firstly Jorge at the main restaurant, it was a delight to see his lovely smile each day, he was great. Second & Third are Wander & Tasiana at the Beach bar, once again their welcoming nature & smiles were great. Lastly I would like to say thanks to Indira who kept our room spotless each day.

Just returned from a 2week family holiday here. Lovely hotel with a decent size pool that’s not to deep so perfect for children, plenty of sun lounges around all day. Good choice of food everyday and staff very helpful always asking if you need drinks when seated. Rooms decent size and clean with a good shower and made up everyday. Entertainment team we’re amazing work very hard and are all very good at there jobs especially papa john and there are activities going on through out the day that you can get involved with. Evening shows good again. My only down side was my son hurt himself and there was not much medical help from the hotel or a first aid box to help but the doctors on the Caribbean street were really good.

Please do not stay here

I wish I read the reviews before booking because they are right. The rooms are gross. They smell and the glass showers have mold in them. The food is disgusting and we got food poisoning from it. There are birds everywhere when you are trying to eat at the restaurant. The pool closes at 6pm and it’s a walk to the beach. We chalked up the trip to now we know and won’t stay there again. That was till I got home and discover that I brought bed bugs from the hotel back with me. It has been a nightmare. I booked through Vacation Express and been trying to get hold of them so no one else books this hotel. Save your money and yourself . Don’t not stay at this hotel .

Nice 3-star Hotel with very limited space you can stand on your balcony and pretty much see the entire Resort. Great deal for the price as you get what you pay for. The activity and Recreation staff was very nice and pleasant throughout my stay whereas the waiters, room service and bartenders at the facility we're not too friendly or pleasant. When I complained I was told they don't understand English you don't need to know English to have common manners. The waiter staff often stood around conversing with the other staff members without asking you what you would like to drink with your meal. One night while at the steak restaurant the staff spent more time playing with each other than serving the guest. The food was very repetitive and boring after the second day. No room service! We were told we would have use of the other adjoining hotel which is run by the company but when we went to the other hotels we were told we cannot have use of the facilities and were asked to leave, upset and embarrassed. The towels smelt of mildew I was very happy that we had brand new wash clothes. I also noticed when getting a soda at the snack area the plastic cups were dirty. When looking through the other cups it was noticed that the plastic cups had been rinsed out to be reused, not sanitary. If you want to be able to just relax and rest keep to yourself and have no problem eating the same food everyday, this is the place for you. This is not a great place for a girls trip. It didn't help much either that some of the russian female guest went topless at the pool with children there and the staff said nothing. Also why does the pool close so early at 6pm. I'm pretty sure I won't visit this facility again. The RIU does have some great properties this one is just on the very low budget end.
