Check in was addressed as a group. Not one on one. Room had an odor to it. The furniture in standard rooms smelled like sticky feet. Asked to upgrade to mini suite since that furniture smelled ok, but they wanted $60.00 more a night. Poor rating was not available for this survey. Dissapointed.

This is the third time staying at the Riu Naiboa since its remodeling . The rooms are clean and comfortable. The food has been upgraded with a good selection of different dishes. They have added a water park that both adults and children can enjoy. There is a walk to the beach down caribbean street that we enjoyed the beach is beautiful with a beach shack for lunch if you do not want to go back to the hotel . I recommend this hotel for the budget minded.

I cannot believe how much I hated this hotel! We had to move because I got so violently ill- I would be embarrassed to represent this hotel- the Riu next door was so a great improvement but from this experience it will be a long time before I ever consider using apple vacations again- for $2000 it was a major let down

The price of $3885.00 compared to the rating this time was not worth it. The food was acceptable but nothing changed on a daily basis. You had to wake up before 7:00 am to see the mafia looking guy to make your dinner reservation at the one restaurant. they only accepted about 25 people a night for the 7:00 sitting. I am not eating at 9:00. That was awful. The beach was dirty and horrible. The plane was horrible.

The overall trip and stay was nice. The beds were excessively hard and uncomfortable. We have stayed at other Riu resorts before and found the food selection very limited this trip compared to others. The service was excellent from all of the staff. It just seems like this resort is the economy riu of the Dominican Republic.

Our room was very nice, clean and our maid kept our frig stocked with plenty of water and drinks. The food was mediocre, a lot of the food was the same day after day. The coffee was instant coffee, if you want the better stuff you need to go to the Buda Bar . there you will find cappuccino and espresso. very hard to get dinner reservation at restaurant,, we were told we had to see the manager of the buffet at 6:45 am to book time and then we were not going to be guaranteed a table.

We actually switch hotels to the RIU Macao as the room at Niaboa was really small and we were overlooking the parking lot. Also heavy sewage smell. The Macao was great!

The hotel staff didn't listen we told them everyday that the refrigerator was not stocked they said that happens sometimes and did nothing to fix the problem they also put us over the nightclub that stays open til six am food was awful the only thing nice was the weather was sick for three day's talked to front desk almost everyday about somethings and in one ear and out the other this hotel was by no means a four star would really have to look again before traveling with Apple you should sent someone down there without telling them who you are and see how they treat you....

The staff for the most part was very willing to help us with anything. I found a cockroach in our room the 1st night, but never again. The food was very bland. We were under the impression we could go to any of the pools, restaurants, and bars within Riu and that was not so, we could only those at Naiboa. The excursions were fantastic! Loved Omar from Amstar, he was very helpful. The beach was beautiful! The shops on the way to the beach we ok on prices, but the vendors were very pushy. We called for more soda on Tuesday and were never told that the staff that stocks this was not in and we had nothing to mix the drinks with until Thursday, even tho we called numerous times. The stay was ok only due to we didn't spend much time in our room.

my family and arrived on the 27th July for 14 nights we have stayed at various RIU hotels and we have always had a good time firstly I would like to say this hotel was clean and during our stay I saw the gardener spraying all around the grounds with mosquito spray on numerous occasions this was early in the mornings the staff in the dining area were very helpful and tended to all our needs also bar staff and entertainment team were excellent with the children and adults the only thing I did not like was that drinking glasses could be taken round the pool area which is very dangerous where people are swimming and not wearing shoes alright the fridges are not perfect but you only need it for keeping your drinks cold I would come back to this hotel

Good hotel nice staff but perverted animation team

We had our honeymoon here, on arrival we was greeted by a friendly man at reception who explained the rules at of the hotel. We had no welcome drink as advertised. After a brief welcome to the hotel we went to our room which was a decent size and well air conditioned. (there is no bath) not a problem for me but maybe for some. We was told at reception that we could not use other rui hotels on the complex as these were 5* but they could use ours, which was something we wasn't told when booking through Thomas Cook. But non the less the hotel does have the biggest pool out of the hotels which is good and more family friendly. You get free safe which is battery operated and room staff seem to clean the room and not steal as we have seen on other reviews. Our safe was untouched the whole holiday. We swam with dolphins we booked through TUI but if you walk to the beach which is 4 minutes away and very scenic you will find a scuba centre which also offer all excursions and a much more lower price and all English speaking staff. The TUI rep wasnt very good and wasn't interested in you unless your flashing cash. Around the pool it is very loud music and the animation team pestering you to join in there games yoga bingo water polo etc, most leave u alone if u say no but one In particular who I have Included a picture of will pester the women and young girls throughout your 2 week stay, please be aware if your travelling with your partner or daughters aged between 12 and 20 this guy will pester them for there Facebook Instagram accounts and Is very touchy feely made my partner sick seeing him strut round like his gods gift. The food is what I expect of an all inclusive cheap and edible (sometimes) I've found this every where I go, kids are limited to burgers hotdogs and pasta etc but there is loads of food on offer if your prepared to splash it out your back passage at least once during your stay. They have 2 themed restaurant where they offer a steak night and Italian, I must say the steak was very nice both times I used it, but the menu don't change at all, your greeted with mozzarella stick and ceaser salad on arrival, which if untouched will be passed to the next customer and the restaurant is an open one during the day you see birds picking at the fruit etc and staff don't move these on, we also witnessed one member of staff drink from a wine bottle them pass it to an customer which didn't see this. Beach is lovely but does have a problem with seaweed, but sea is warm and calm most of the time. TV in the room is OK there is about 107 channels where about 12 show American news and films these are channels 40 to 60 not all are great quality there are a few in the 80s to. There is a good but small water park on site which has about 7 slides and a kids play part which is included and very good for the size. Overall we had a great holiday but can't wait to get back to some normal English food. Also there is a little shopping outlet on site on the way to the beach which is very expensive for British food like Pringles at $7 a time which is about £5.50 😑. Also $10 to hire an iron which is obsurb. You get free mini bar which is restocked every 2 days consists of Pepsi water fizzy water and beer usually 2 of each depending on your party. Plus optics which Incluse vodka White and brown rum and brandy.

wouldn't go back if it was for free,,, stay away

Arrived in the late afternoon. the greeting at reception was fine and we had welcome drinks. we were given just one KEY (not a secure key card)We were taken to our rooms. The hotel is in need of modernization throughout. The rooms were big enough in size in the bedroom area , but the bathrooms were falling apart. The glass brick which enclosed the shower had cement falling off it onto the floor. There was a horrible smell also coming from the drains. I was ask to move rooms a day before going home as the wall as unsafe in the bathroom, but i was so ill after contracting Campylobacter food poisoning from the terrible food. (Fact from test from hospital) The main restaurant was like a .grease skating ring. I fell over once from the floor being so slippery. The la a carte restaurant was all open therefore my family were feasted on by the mosquitos. Rude staff that didnt give any good customer service. (oh unless you are tipping them of course. Not all the staff were rude , some of them were really friendly and helpfull but few and far between. I would trust the house maids as 2 my family had money stolen out of the room. And a GO PRO camera. The beach was lovely but the seeweed was obviously a eye sore, but this did not bother me too much. The daily entertainment was more catered for the the spanish speaking counties. Too loud most of the time. the staff were very nice and friendly so have not complaints about them. Night time entertainment was ok , but i would rather go to the room and watch telly as i was being bitten alive by mosquitos. Obviously no repellent control like the other Riu Hotels. The 2 week holiday was anything but relaxing, in fact after becoming ill , i felt more stressed and tired than before i went. This hotel should not be advertised as 4 * More like a 2* and if you gave me a free trip i would refused to return. please don't waste your cash on this Hotel. RUI needs to close this hotel.

This place SUCKS! Money stolen from safe, and there's more.......

Arrived a touch early, we then went to buffet for lunch until room was ready. Meh..food wasn't labeled, not one server came around to our table for drinks. First impression not too good. No welcome drink (as it was brought to our attn at the pool bar that we should've received one)There was several guests checking in and I never saw anyone handed a drink . To start, we were given keys to a dirty room. Returned to front desk for new room assignment. Room fairly clean with no washcloths only medium and large towels. Beach area full of seaweed, no attempt made by the property to upkeep and minimize. Beach chairs just thrown about. Resort entertainment team was soooo weak, boring. Pool closes way too early at 6pm. Money was stolen from safe, no brand liquors(which is ok but..) and minibar fridge was rusty/dingy looked like it had been purchased off the side of the road. The mosquitoes on the property were out of control, it's apparent that the resort places no effort into outdoor repellent control at the least to minimize for the guests comfort. My friend and I used skin repellent spray daily and still got eaten alive. Repetitive unappealing buffet food with rude cooks. Finding a good server to assist at any time was few and far between. Our best meal of the day was dinner at the one specialty restaurant on site. We were able to get a decent steak, salmon fillet, etc from there. My friend developed food poisoning and was ill for 24hrs solid. This resort was all in all one big flop, their quality and service standards are very low here and it definitely shows! I will not be returning and I do not recommend. Way too many cons, spend your money elsewhere. The one thing that brought me enjoyment the entire stay was the Mai Tai cocktail. I know RIU has some nice properties all around but this place was awful. Don't waste your time. Their bold brand is "24hr all-inclusive" Nothing at this resort was 24hrs. No bar servers at the pool/beach or anywhere. The only way to get a cocktail is to make those multiple trips to the bar yourself. If you've ever experienced an all-inclusive who does it right, doesn't even have to be 5*... you would know that Naiboa is a total let down. SN:Email going out to corporate to file claim for stolen money next! STAY AWAY PPL. BELIEVE THE BAD REVIEWS

First let me start off with the good thing. The bartenders at Buda bar, Osvaldo and naty made my stay great. They were very entertaining and kept me on high spirits. The only downfall was there was no music at the bar. This is not a 24hr anything. No room service as far as food and you cannot make local calls. You have to go the front desk and they will allow you to use the phone. Also no business center so If you need to print boarding passes or any documents you have to ask the front desk to do it for you. Now let me start from the day I arrived. My travel was from July 26-29 2018. We arrived at 2:30p, no welcome drink, which we was told later by the bartender that we should of got. We went to get something to eat at the buffet and came back to the front desk at 3 to obtain our room key. The room wasn't even clean. So back to the front desk to tell them and they looking at us like we're crazy asking what's wrong. Ok, we get another room which was fine but it had no washcloths, only large and oversized hand towels that I had to shower with since no small ones were available, Fast forward to the dining. I was not happy at all with the food at the buffet. None of the food was labeled. Of course you could tell what certain things were but I was more concerned with what was in the food. I don't eat just anything, which I dearly paid for the next day with horrible diarrhea. The language barrier is very poor so trying to ask a question about food was very difficult. I was sick Friday into Saturday evening. At some point Friday my friend and myself had 120.00 stolen out the room. I didn't care for the pool or the activities, It was so generic, I get there are families with kids but nothing really entertaining for the adults except the Disco, which the other 2 resorts shared and opened at 11p. They have a casino at the other Riu resort but it didn't open until 7pm. I felt it was boring for adults. They did have an overnight bar that opened from 6p-6a which was a plus. Important FYI-take plenty of mosquito spray. My friend and myself sprayed all day and still end up looking like we had chicken pox. The last day I was too scared to eat so I lived on green tea and bread until I left Sunday. I tried to make the best out of a bad situation but sad to say I will not be back.
