I would like to agree with AshleaM & others who thought this hotel was rubbish. stealing money, clothes, (anything that wasn't nailed down) sunglasses etc., The rep Frey didn't want to know . BUT in the welcome meeting the first thing he said, " any trouble with your safe", please see me immediately. 1 week before travelling to this hotel, (after reading the bad reviews) I tried to change hotels, but Tui insisted no bad reports, and I shouldn't listen to rumours. I could cancel my holiday & loose all my money & rebook. For 2 weeks we carried our money around with us, not wanting to take the chance of being robbed. But still had clothes, suncream, sunglasses taken. It could have been worse most of the poor people we met with families were robbed. No water & electric constantly. I too stayed in a Rui hotel in Mexico. (only 2 star) but it was fab! we could use the other Rui hotels around us, and to be honest our 2 star hotel had exactly the same food, drinks, entertaiment etc., Thinking rui group in punta cana would be the same. NOT. The Naiboa, can't be doing Tui or the Rui group any favours. Most stressful, upsetting, holiday ever. I feel cheated, what should have been a carribean dream turned into a nightmare! The only good thing about the Hotel was the Fab! people we met,

Stayed here with my boyfriend for a 2week holiday. First thing got to reception, the staff were rude not welcoming got a welcome drink that was watered down and warm so don't know how long they'd been left in reception for. Got in the lift and got speaking to a couple warning us theft has happened in there room and safe! Obviously we were shocked but got in room, was decent enough and the maids come in everyday to clean which was good. The pool was okay and also beach but same music every single day! The animation team are constant pests luckily I was with my boyfriend as they are very Pervy with young girls on there own. Food okay but same thing everyday... the restaurant staff in the main one are very good and friendly always ready to help drinks etc.... but 'snack bar and day time' bar staff are a disgrace! I've never felt so uncomfortable at the way they serve you look at you like rubbish and treat you like rubbish! The woman who's usually in the bhuda bar serving on is a joke she doesn't like women that's for sure! Even worse... Literally sat down at the snack bar for a burger (not that it's ever open!) and nobody came over to us just stood and spoke to there colleagues and Spanish family's not interested in coming over to ask us what we wanted! we waited and looked at them for a good 15mins before getting up and walking off! We made a mistake tipping on the first five days as they don't deserve it at all. I don't mean the waiters that come round on a night they are very nice it's the ones behind the bar horrible rude arrogant as*holes! The entertainment on a night is diabolical! We like a drink and a party but we ended up going to bed early every night at 10.30! We looked around at young couples they were the same position as us looking bored as hell! The shows were okay pretty basic. We went next door to the RIU Palace and omg we were so gutted as it looked perfect! Fun!!! We have paid for this holiday so we expect at least some good service and we didn't get it! So disappointed in the money we have spent! We have stayed at RIU in mexico and that was amazing staff service was perfect this is definitely a downgrade from anywhere we've stayed before! If you are a young... British couple don't book here book any other RIU near just not Naiboa! It's a 2* if you ask me!! If you paid me I'd not come back here to this hotel!!!!! We are gutted

Boring

Boring, nothing really to do, staff barley speak English, rooms are two double beds even if you requested a king, can’t use other riu facilities, drinks are disgusting, food is horrific and poorly stored, al a carte was same standard as buffet. Would never go back

Believe the reviews!!

I have just returned home after 2 weeks (14th September-28th September 2018) having stayed at the Riu Niaboa punta cana. I don't really know where to start... the holiday its self was lovely but its ashame we choose to stay where we did and this effected our holiday greatly. Ill start with the fact we had our money robbed from the safe a week into our holiday i was extermely gutted! We had returned from our day trip from saona island to find our safe was open and our money had been taken from our cash packet and to find that the $20 we put away in both our passports had also been taken along with english money... Tui rep was not on site at this time so we waited for the following day and reported it straight away, he spoke with management but management were complete waste of time, Saying we would have to pay a total of $50 for a round trip to the police station and back! We sacked it off and did not bother reporting it to the police i just accepted that i couldn't book the trip i was looking forward to. The Tui rep (fray) did sub us $40 for us for the exit tax which was helpful. This wasn't just the problems we encountered. One night the power went off a total of 5 times through the evening sure things like that happen but not every other night this was a common accurance. Now... No hot water! 5 days straight i was unable to have a hot shower and rang up reception to be told the problem would be sorted in a couple of hours. I also just gave up chasing them up on that, cold showers it was! Now we will talk about maid service that did not exist after we was robbed oddly enough the day after our money had been stolen we had no maid service we rang and a women came about 6pm, the following day the same thing happened so i mentioned it to the tui rep he said they clean the rooms every other day well im sorry but at this point before our money had been taken we had already been in the hotel 7 days and our room was done everyday without fail... so that was a lie! This was the norm for the rest of the holiday everyday we would see the maids down the corridor even outside our room at 8am we would return and they hadn't bothered... either they where tip chasing and not bothered or they knew the money had gone missing. We rang up downstairs most nights and same maid would come up between 6pm-7pm well im sorry but having the cleaning service at that time is unacceptable and i should not have to ring up every evening to find my room hasn't been done! 2nd to last night we returned to find the room not done again but this one time i really couldnt be bothered to ring up, i got dressed and ready for my evening i left my room around 7.30pm i noticed my friend had left only $5 on the side thought nothing of it as didn't expect anyone to be coming in our room as it was late and hadn't mentioned anything but i made the effort to just place them out of slight, at some point between 7.30-9pm when we returned the maid had been in and we couldn't find those dollars (our mistake) but to be honest do you really expect someone to be coming in your room at that time? we expected some level of trust. Having stayed in a 4* in Dominican before i know the kind of service and experience of what to expect and this was nothing of that standard i honestly believe this is more of a 2* shabby hotel. The plugs where hanging off the wall, the bathroom was moudly and damp. Our toilet was blocked most days from the lack of water pressure. The staff came across really rude the staff did not make this experience any better. They we not over friendly they didn't go out of there way to make your stay pleasant was a bit of a downer in all honestly. Would i stay at this hotel again? No never. The food same everyday sure you wont starve or go hungry but i am a vegetarian and i ate pizza and chips everyday it wasn't brilliant. Nothing in the buffet area was ever labelled so i really really struggled knowing what the food was! That to me was not professional. While we where on holiday there was a women with her 2 children who also had a large amount of money stolen from her room from her suitcase that was pad locked! So please keep your stuff safe i have read reviews and heard stories and ive even experienced been robbed myself from this hotel so be aware. Bar our experience the hotel grounds generally looked nice. A short walk down caribbean street to the beach with the beach bar looks lovely and is a nice vibe. The beach is nice a lot of seaweed is a eye sore. The Saona superme was the highlight of the holiday. I do recommend getting out of the hotel if you can and do trips. Whatever they mop the floor with is like a ice rink i fell over twice, its a wonder no ones seriously injuried themselves. Dominican Republic is beautiful this hotel is not. Find better. Shop around it will be so worth the experience. Don't put yourself through the stress. Also can't use any of the other hotel facilities but they can come over to our hotel.

Me and my partner have just returned home from 2 weeks at the Riu Naiboa hotel. We never really had a problem with the hotel ourselves apart from the food not being too good. We overheard a woman with her two children complaining at the desk that all of her money had been taken out of her case, showing the receptionists the broken lock and saying that it must be one of their staff as they’re the only ones who have access to her room. The receptionists response was they will get the woman done for slander for blaming their staff. They wasn’t helpful at all! Anyway back to our reviews. The staff varied, some were nice, some were rude. We went into the steak house for dinner one evening, I asked for some mayonnaise, in which they brought over tomato ketchup, replying “no mayonnaise, so have ketchup”. I wasn’t best pleased, to then feel like I’m being rushed to eat my food as they came over to take my partners plate away. We often ate at the buffet which was very repetitive and the food wasn’t always cooked properly. The staff in the buffet were excellent, there was one called Juan, he was welcoming and very kind. The animacion team were brilliant, constantly on the go, trying to get everyone involved in activities. There was three member that stood out, Papa John, Tequila and Amara.
