Check in was addressed as a group. Not one on one. Room had an odor to it. The furniture in standard rooms smelled like sticky feet. Asked to upgrade to mini suite since that furniture smelled ok, but they wanted $60.00 more a night. Poor rating was not available for this survey. Dissapointed.

This is the third time staying at the Riu Naiboa since its remodeling . The rooms are clean and comfortable. The food has been upgraded with a good selection of different dishes. They have added a water park that both adults and children can enjoy. There is a walk to the beach down caribbean street that we enjoyed the beach is beautiful with a beach shack for lunch if you do not want to go back to the hotel . I recommend this hotel for the budget minded.

the Worst all inclusive EVER

I cannot believe how much I hated this hotel! We had to move because I got so violently ill- I would be embarrassed to represent this hotel- the Riu next door was so a great improvement but from this experience it will be a long time before I ever consider using apple vacations again- for $2000 it was a major let down

The price of $3885.00 compared to the rating this time was not worth it. The food was acceptable but nothing changed on a daily basis. You had to wake up before 7:00 am to see the mafia looking guy to make your dinner reservation at the one restaurant. they only accepted about 25 people a night for the 7:00 sitting. I am not eating at 9:00. That was awful. The beach was dirty and horrible. The plane was horrible.

The overall trip and stay was nice. The beds were excessively hard and uncomfortable. We have stayed at other Riu resorts before and found the food selection very limited this trip compared to others. The service was excellent from all of the staff. It just seems like this resort is the economy riu of the Dominican Republic.

Our room was very nice, clean and our maid kept our frig stocked with plenty of water and drinks. The food was mediocre, a lot of the food was the same day after day. The coffee was instant coffee, if you want the better stuff you need to go to the Buda Bar . there you will find cappuccino and espresso. very hard to get dinner reservation at restaurant,, we were told we had to see the manager of the buffet at 6:45 am to book time and then we were not going to be guaranteed a table.

We actually switch hotels to the RIU Macao as the room at Niaboa was really small and we were overlooking the parking lot. Also heavy sewage smell. The Macao was great!

The hotel staff didn't listen we told them everyday that the refrigerator was not stocked they said that happens sometimes and did nothing to fix the problem they also put us over the nightclub that stays open til six am food was awful the only thing nice was the weather was sick for three day's talked to front desk almost everyday about somethings and in one ear and out the other this hotel was by no means a four star would really have to look again before traveling with Apple you should sent someone down there without telling them who you are and see how they treat you....

The staff for the most part was very willing to help us with anything. I found a cockroach in our room the 1st night, but never again. The food was very bland. We were under the impression we could go to any of the pools, restaurants, and bars within Riu and that was not so, we could only those at Naiboa. The excursions were fantastic! Loved Omar from Amstar, he was very helpful. The beach was beautiful! The shops on the way to the beach we ok on prices, but the vendors were very pushy. We called for more soda on Tuesday and were never told that the staff that stocks this was not in and we had nothing to mix the drinks with until Thursday, even tho we called numerous times. The stay was ok only due to we didn't spend much time in our room.

A bit outdated, but nice hotel. Takes a few minutes to get to the beach as hotel located on the second line behind 5 stars, but never was a problem. It is a nice walk through the souvenirs stores. Rooms are nice typical to Caribbean resorts and 3-4 stars hotel. You also get bottles of hard liquor inside so you can pour yourself a drink whenever you wish to have a drink Food was pretty good in my opinion and I haven't heard any complaints from other guests either. There is also excellent small water park nearby and it is free for the hotel guests. Very important for people with kids who doesn't want to spend the whole day on the ocean. Overall: As I say in my other reviews the most important thing is the beautiful ocean and this is what we are coming for - sun, white sand and the ocean Positives: It is one building so could be good for a big company. The staff is great. Let me mention people who contributed to our good vibes: Shuleika Batista Gorgio Carlos Samy Vega Ramon Omar Osvaldo Cruscita Sorry if forgot someone. Negatives: Pool closes around 6 PM which is really not convenient.

Should have booked a camping trip in the Syrian desert.

Myself and my Wife spent our together time summer holiday there in Sept for 2 weeks. On first appearances this was going to be a break in paradise however as the days went on this became apparent to us and many of the other guests that this was not to be the case, I will try and create a list of the discrepancies that myself and my wife had but before I do I want to explain that I’m not one of these complaining people that just like to complain, I served in the Parachute Regiment of the British Army for 14 Years serving in many interesting and hostile environment’s the world has to offer followed by 13 Years as a Maximum risk Close Protection Officer in the Middle East, I think you can imagine that I’m quite used to living without any form of basic needs, however I shall now try to explain what we are not happy with, to say the least. On the first night of arrival we tried to visit the other RIU Hotels within the complex but as soon as we asked for a drink from the bar we were told that this was not allowed as we had booked into a different hotel i.e. the Naiboa, I then proceeded to speak to the Manager and was told that we had booked a CHEAP HOLIDAY HOTEL hence we were not allowed to drink in the other hotels of the complex, I then asked if I could pay to use the facilities and was told I can only do this if I upgrade for my whole holiday? Tho the food was plentiful it was constantly the same, every meal time was the same as the previous day, yes, we were allowed to use the themed Restaurant (Italian and Steak night) we were told we were only allowed to use each theme night once throughout our stay so for 12 nights we had to eat the same meal as the previous evening’s meal. (I’ve been in the mountains of Afghanistan and other countries and had a wider variety of meals within a 14-day period) The daytime entertainment was ok however again it was all the same, same time, same act, same games. We then started to have power outages in the second week, yes, I understand there was a Hurricane within 200-300 miles, however, we were in Hurricane Irma last year in Cube so I fully understand how powerful a Hurricane is, however, Bavaro experienced no strong winds what so ever during our stay. The power cuts would start at 5-10 minutes long to start with but day by day these increased to 1hour (the longest we experienced). We then started to experience tap/shower water shortages to no water at all in the mornings and early evenings, this then excelled into no hot water, the pinnacle to this was on the second night running my wife was in the shower and all hot water ceased leaving her stomping off down to the reception wearing a nightgown with a soaking towel on her head to make another complaint. The bedding always smelt and felt dam, even after I asked the maids to change them for the second time in one day this remained a problem throughout the holiday. There was an electrical plug socket loose in the shower/bathroom,There was an electrical cable hanging loose in the bedroom As I stated earlier I’m not the type of person to complain about a little hardship however in over 14 years of long-haul travelling I’ve never once wanted to come home, that being said I’ve stayed in many RIU before and have never had any concerns what so ever but I feel that the Hotel RIU Naiboa has seriously let RIU down as a company. If the Hotel RIU Naiboa was anything I would have to say “REPETITIVE”

If you want Salmonella go here

The standard of this hotel is certainly not a 4 star as rated. We and everyone we spoke to within the hotel had things go missing from their rooms. Luckily we only had some of the children’s clothes and a pair of earrings go missing, but others had money, head phones and more valuable things missing. Our room as located on top of the entertainment room so at night it was extremely loud making it difficult to get our children to sleep. The entertainment team (although was very nice people) need to find more things to keep the guests entertained. It’s the same routine everyday and the same 2 loooooonnnnnngggggg song. ‘One love’. Over and over again. At night times we usually like to go a walk out but as the hotel is situated alongside 6 (I think) other hotels there is no where to walk. I would recommend going on trips to break your weeks up. We went on the pirates ship and buggy trip which was both really good. The beach is a short walk from the hotel and is pretty but has a lot of seaweed and the sea is very choppy. My children didn’t want to go in the sea as it was to rough. There is a beach bar on the beach that you can use. In the hotel there is a very small selection of badly cooked food with no labels of what it is. I’m not sure what they clean the floors with near to the buffet area or in the public toilets but it’s like an ice ring. My 6 year old son became ill at the start of our second week and on our return home it was confirmed it was salmonella poisoning. He had severe diarrhoea for 14 days. He was so weak and lost so much weight. On our last night of our holiday my husband had a piece of chicken. The outside skin looked crispy but inside it was nearly raw. After contacting Rui’s aftercare team I got a automated reply basically saying I need to contact my booking agent. 29 days later I’m still awaiting a response from Tui. This was our yearly family holiday that cost a lot of money and it was completely ruined. I don’t think I’ve ever been on holiday and counted the hours to come home.

I got back to Canada and came back with shingella that I caught in this resort.

Hi, Everyone who is planning to go to this resort be carful with what you eat. DO NOT EAT VEGGIES OR MEAT NOT WELL DONE. I Got back a week ago I was sick for most of the trip. I went to the doctors right away because I still wasn’t feeling well they did a few test and got my results back. I have shingella which is a bacteria contracted from stool who is infected with this. Someone in that resort making my drinks or food did not wash her/his hands after going to the bathroom. While I was there I spoke to a couple of people and they had the same symptoms as me. I was not the only one feeling this way. Be very careful

Nice & Cozy

This is a smaller hotel, connected to the larger Riu Hotels. The rooms were clean and the service was average. The food selection was okay, as this is the smaller hotel there were not many choices, so after 3 or 4 days it was kinda repetitive. The beach is nice and we enjoyed walking down Carribean Street every day to get there, no hassles from the store employees. Overall, it was a nice and relaxing vacation.
