New Year 2018 and my 40th Birthday Celebration!

We were there for New Year’s Eve and my 40th Birthday on January 02. Beautiful resort and great customer service. My partner arranged with them(surprise) for my birthday and the did a great job decorating our room when I came back to room from the Sky Light Restaurant..very romantic and beautiful. Weather is little chilly but overall experience was great. I will visit that resort again someday. Only bad thing about the resort is...not much of a beach left or beautiful, I found Grand Velas has the best beach but not the Princess Yucatan. We still had the great time hanging out at the beach. The Las day of checkout our flight got delayed and we have to check out at noon, our flight was delayed 7 hours plus, so they extended our room till next day noon at no cost. I never had that experience before with other resort and that by itself impressed me and thought great customer accommodation. Thank you!!

We visited the Yucatan Princess for a week starting Boxing Day. What a beautiful resort!!! My husband and I arrived with a small group from the airport - trip on the bus took approx 40 minutes to reach our hotel. Check-in was quick and painless. We were greeted with a cold drink and taken to our room. We were assigned to the 3000 block which is located right at the main pool. Perfect location for us as we had sun from 9am to 3:30pm everyday. We had reserved a swim-out room which I highly recommend.....out the sliding doors right to the pool. The loungers outside the room were fairly uncomfortable, but 20 steps further were the main pool chairs and they were fine. We are early risers so we would have breakfast each morning between 8 and 9 and left our towels on a chair. If you came to the pool any later than noon you'd be lucky to find an empty chair. Room was immaculate. King size bed, large jacuzzi tub, two sinks, and a shower large enough to fit four people comfortably. Room was cold enough to offset the outside temperatures of 28 degrees. Sliding door had to be completely closed for the a/c to work. Our room was cleaned consistently everyday prior to 1pm. The maid always left us a new creature made out of towels. Found it strange that we had a fellow knock on our door every evening anywhere between 8 and 10pm asking if we needed new towels. Fridge was rationed to 3 beer, four water and 4 pop. Worked well as the main pool bar was a 30 second walk away. If you wanted any extra beer, you would be charged $6 per can. Our pool "waitress" was phenominal - we rarely had to ask for another drink as she stopped by less than every 20 minutes to see if we needed a refresh. But will also mention that we tip well. (usually every drink, if not every second) Therewere pool activities every day - from water volleyball, dance exercises, they had twerking contests, drinking contests, foam parties - you name it. Age range at was anywhere from 18-70 so a nice mix. We could hear the music while in our room - but it wasn't excessive. Food was great - We tried a few restaurants - The Rodeo Grill, and Tao - but stuck mainly to the buffet which had a wide variety of food to choose from. We had lunch on the beach, which consisted of burger and hot dogs, fries and chips/salsa - all great. Waiters and waitresses were fantastic - hats off to "Bryan Adams" who remembered us each and every time we had a meal. Weather was usually anywhere from 28-30 degrees. We had sun the first four days but our last three days were overcast and rainy. But I'd spend rainy overcast days in Mexico over -30 degree temperatures in Alberta anyday! Staff at the resport were very friendly and happy to help in anyway they could. Some spoke very little english but the majority spoke enough english to get your message across. I had a massage at their spa - which I highly recommend. Karen was my therapist - it was one of the better massages I've had. I'd come back in a heartbeat.. It was our first "all" adult resort and I'd do it again.

Pros and Cons

Pros: Staff at the restaurants and beach were great! Rooms were clean, didn’t see any bugs in the room or balcony. Bright and large rooms, with decent room service food. Adults only. Restaurants had amazing food! Loved the modern architecture. NYE party was fun and entertaining. Cons: If you like beer, this place had the worse beer on tap. They provide you with 2 canned beers per day in your room but that’s all you get. They won’t supply you with more than 2 a day. We asked for a king bed and they gave us 2 double beds. The resort wasn’t packed or busy at all, so that was kind of unfortunate. They said they are putting us in a nice quiet room but that wasn’t true, we had to hear the trucks drive by and workers talking all night long into the early morning each night. They really pressure you with the spa services. Everywhere you go they are getting you to get a massage, while laying on the beach they approach you, walking around the resort, they were everywhere. We finally got a couples massage and it was not anywhere close to what she signed us up for. Our 80 mins was actually 60 mins and our “bonus facials” we were promised, we never got during our appt. I brought it up after and they denied ever mentioning a facial as part of the couples romantic massage. $300 I’ll never get back.

Love the Adult only!

Left hubby home and went on a girls trip to this resort, we had a blast! Great resort, just a perfect size, not to big or to small, easy to get around to everything, great pools, great staff, lots of shade at the beach and no problem getting loungers, beach is not the best, to many rocks, can walk down to sister resort, and it is better, I would recommend beach shoes. Large pool is lots of fun , but not enough shade, the best thing about the adult only is no children at the swim-up-bar. Rooms are nice! Lots to do day or night, great evening entertainment. Plenty of food choices, Don't miss the Foam Party, so much fun!!!

There is so much better resorts in Mexico

I'm going to Mexico 4 times a year and been to many 5 stars hotel in the area, some amazing some of them not, and this one from the second category. So the internet connection is not good, the food is terrible, the service was not great, no nightlife, the alcohol very watered, the pool have to be fixed because part of the tile is missing and a lot of people getting cut. The room was very nice. There is way better option in the area
