Upon entering the lobby, the ambiance is grand and palatial. The room was clean and the view was SPECTACULAR! The towels were plush, the first couple days then the quality declined close to the end of our stay. The food was good, and as someone who is accustomed to authentic Jamaican food the quality was ok at the Main cafeteria. The food at the Grill was pretty good. I hear the other on site restaurants are very good. Book early since reservations go fast. The pool was a good size. The beach at the hotel is good, calm, serene. The staff is pretty friendly, except when you don't buy the timeshare then they can be not so friendly. Bartenders are VERY friendly and accommodating. Our bartender Princess was AWESOME! Her customer service was top notch! Kudos to her. Onsite karaoke was fun, the onsite club left much to be desired. Overall the grounds were very clean and well kept. More>

Destination Wedding
Bayman25, St. John's, Canada

My wife and I just recently spent 7 nights at this resort for our destination wedding and it was everything we could have hoped for. Along with 16 of our family and friends we had and amazing vacation and the dream wedding we had been hoping for. The only downfall of the entire trip was that it rained the two hours leading up to our wedding so it had to be pushed inside instead of at the beach gazebo where we had intended to get married. But all in all the indoor ceremony was fantastic and we were able to go out to the gazebo afterwards to take some pictures. So lets talk about the resort, it is absolutely beautiful. The pool is amazing and very clean (people were painting the side of the pool each morning we were there). The small beach that is close to the main hotel is not fantastic for walking on but very relaxing and quiet. The beach that is a little bit of a walk from the part of the hotel we stayed in was absolutely beautiful and the water was so warm and inviting. There were portions of the beach that were a little rocky but if you don't mind the walk then you will find a nice piece of smooth sand to lay down and relax on. The restaurants were all fantastic and given the fact we stayed in the Don Pablo section we had access to a couple of extra restaurants most guests did not have access to. The food was absolutely delicious in all of them. As an added bonus at the Makado restaurant (Japanese cuisine) the check put on a little show for our group while preparing the meal. I believe his name was Odane (this could be wrong as I have a VERY poor memory for these sort of things) but if that was his name then he was great. Also I would like to give a little shout out to Marvin, who was our server most days at the Orchid restaurant. He was very friendly and looked after us like we were part of his family. I would also like to send a little shout out to Jason Rodgers. I am not sure of his exact title but I believe he has something to do with the butler service for the Don Pablo guests. Once Jason found out we were getting married at the resort he took a little extra care of us and made sure everything was perfect. We had our room decorated 3 separate nights while we were staying at the hotel and each night it was a little better and more special than the last. I forget out Butler's name but she was great and made sure our last night at the resort was perfect so I would also like to thank her as well if I could only remember her name. Now for the wedding portion of our trip which was the main reason for the trip itself. Our wedding coordinator, Tasheka Bryan was great and was available whenever we had questions. The photography staff as well were fantastic and our only complaint was they took too many nice pictures and we were only able to pick 15 from the 51 they took. I would have loved to had them all but the extra cost was a little too steep for us at the time. Our photography team consisted of Ornella, Anika and Adrian and they were all supper friendly and very professional which we really appreciated. There was a bit of construction going on at the resort as they are expanding but I will honestly say that it did not both us in the least. I really can't think of a bad word to say about the resort and the staff so I will leave it at that. I highly recommend this report to anyone looking for a nice trip to this area in Jamaica and in fact we are already planning on coming back for our 5th anniversary in 2020 (if not before) More>

A five star building site

We are just back from a ten night stay at this hotel. Let me begin by saying that this is a nice hotel and will eventually be a huge nice hotel. It is very clean, the rooms are kept well, the gardens are well maintained, the food is good and the beach is ok. There is a great big but in this though - the hotel, especially the Don Pablo luxury area is a major construction site. They are currently adding a further 500 luxury rooms onto the existing luxury wing. Around half of these we were told have been allocated to guests from Dec 1. While we were there work was going on for at least 16 hours a day with all the noise you can imagine from jack hammers, drills, heavy machinery and the thunderous sound of boulders being dropped into bay to create a new jetty. Now the major building work affects the luxury area in the main - the building noise can be heard in all the luxury areas so much so that if you want a little bit of peace you need to spend your time in the standard area and forgo all the extra privileges you have paid for. There was no getting away from the noise either. They were working on a new restaurant beneath the luxury accommodation in block 21, knocking down and rebuilding bits of the restaurant on the beach and then rebuilding the outdoor stage for the evening entertainment. As i mentioned at the beginning I have no doubt that this will be a good hotel but not at the moment. Our advise to you if you are going in the next few weeks / month is to try and re-book somewhere else or change your booking to the standard rooms. It is not worth the extra money to spend your holiday in a building site unless of course that it what floats you boat. A word or warning to those travelling from the UK. We asked our tour company directly on three occasions about the building work and were led to believe that it did not exist and would be notified if there was a problem. Other from the UK we spoke to said they had been told minor work was going on that would have no affect on the stay. Please be assured that this is so wrong, the building works are major, noisy and due to last for several more weeks and into the new year - the final development is not due to be released for occupation on 1 Jan More>

"Stay-Away" Bay

Just returned from a repeat visit to the "not so luxurious" Don Pablo. Having been two years ago and enjoyed immensely, we were anxious to return. Very disappointed with our stay this time. No indication of the level of construction taking place provided on their website. Also no indication of what to expect provided by the Transat site or Trip Central for that matter. Had we known we would definitely have planned an alternative resort for this trip. Upgrading to the Don Pablo is a waste of money at this time as you are staying in regular rooms, with a view of massive construction that operates 24/7. If you like to listen to heavy equipment running from 7 am till 6 pm, then this is the place for you! Not to mention the construction floodlights that you will be staring at from your balcony all night long. We have been 7 time Bahia guests at several of their resorts, and unfortunately this experience has left us with enough regret that we will be no longer considering the Bahia brand for future holidays. Lots of wonderful staff, everyone smiling laughing and very helpful... such a happy group!!.The pools were great, lots of lounge chairs and shade available..and service with a capitol S... Wi fi down stairs in a lovely room that served coffee tea, drinks and cookies...very comfortable place.
