After coming back from our 2nd trip to the Luxury Bahia Principe Runaway Bay i am not sure if i would go back for a 3rd time. When we were there in 2014 we had an amazing time and couldn't wait to go back. We returned in Oct 2016 after waiting for the expansion to be completed and hoped that any 'bugs' would get worked out when a hotel expands. We travelled again with a group of 12 similar size to last time. Upon our arrival we were given 6 rooms in a row on the ground floor facing the pool which was nice keeping everyone together. 3 of the rooms the phones didn't work and well there have been lots of comments about that. The new pool looks great but already tiles are falling off . New Don Pablo beach was alright it wasnt hard to get chairs as long as you were down on the beach before 10. The biggest change that we found was the restaurants. 2 years ago the service in the dining rooms were amazing not so this time. If the servers had to serve 4 tables at a time they now have to serve 12. The food wasn't as good this time. overall I feel the hotel expanded but didn't keep the same ratio of staff to guests and because of that the service has dropped drastically

Beautiful destination wedding.

The staff members that we encountered were great. Thank you Carlyle, Gay-Ann, Raymond and Ruth the mixologists at the pool bar and beach bar, each of of you made our pool/beach experience so much fun. We also enjoyed the entertainment staff. We played sand volleyball and several adult/couples games each day. We feel the lobby bar staff needs to be re-trained on mixology and customer service. The mixologists were asking one another how to make many drinks and were not very friendly. We were also disappointed that we paid for the luxury resort adult experience, but did not receive the top shelf grade alcohol unless we paid extra for each drink. Joseph a waiter in the Jasmine dining room where we ate each day for breakfast, was so upbeat and accommodating. He and the rest of the morning staff made each day an awesome breakfast experience. Our room (Junior Suite Deluxe Seaview) had a beautiful view of the beach and ocean. We were on the 5th floor which we also found had fewer mosquitoes. Several members of our group had to be moved from 1st floor do to excessive mosquitoes (they were sleeping with sheets over their heads). However, we figured out that housekeeping is divided into two parts, housekeeping and mini bar, and we had to make numerous calls each day even after leaving notes in the room, to remind them that they missed replacing/restocking towels and beverages. We had also been leaving tips each day before leaving the room, but we were never sure who was picking the tips up, due to housekeeping and mini bar upkeep were done at different times. Now lets talk food /dining experience. When we arrived on Saturday,1/14, all early evening reservations to the ala carte restaurants were booked for the week. After talking to staff and guests, we found the family side took priority in these restaurants which left the adult side (which pay a higher price) the remainder. So most quests ate at the buffets or ate very late in the evening ( 8-9 pm), if you were able to get a reservation. The check in and check out process was very easy. The lobby desk staff were fast and friendly. Overall rating of this resort is a 6 out of 10. The other adult only resorts we have used are All Jamaica Couples resorts and The Riu Palace in Montego Bay and we feel these resorts blow this resort out to sea.

Definitely NOT luxury

Stayed Dec 31 - Jan 12 The first week was great. We quickly figured out why. The General Manager was there everyday looking after things and making sure guests needs were met. We spoke with him several times telling him how pleased we were with the resort. Unfortunately he went to another hotel in Mexico on the Sunday and immediately we noticed the change. Restaurants were closed the buffet was closed everyday for lunch. When I asked at the front desk to speak to the manager I was told that I would have to speak to his assistant When I finally got to speak with her she told me the reason they have to close restaurants and the buffet was because there were not enough guests. So because of not having enough guests they closed? One of the reasons we chose this resort was for the number of restaurants and buffets. I read in several other reviews about how difficult it was to make reservations at the restaurants and how when you go up to the front desk to make them they were told there were no reservations without them even looking. They didn't have to look because they were closed. They don't tell you that they just say none available. We paid for a full service resort. We did not get it. The service went downhill too. Lack of staff. Management has a lot to learn in how to keep guests happy and returning. We love Jamaica and most of the staff at this resort were great the problem is with how management handles things. Would I recommend this hotel? No. Save your money. If you are expecting luxury you won't get it. We will return to Jamaica but we won't stay there again

A little customer service goes a long way

Been to several other all inclusive, mostly in Mexico. This is was the worse by far. The property is gorgeous, they just don't have enough staff to accommodate all the guests and that makes for a very frustrating trip. Our room was never serviced with any regularity. We were without coffee and wash clothes for most of the trip, even after asking several times. Not all restaurants were open every night, which made it hard to get in to several, we were there 6 nights and trying to reserve spots immediately upon check in, we only got into 3. Food was just mediocre. didn't have one knock my socks off fabulous meal like I've usually had at a resort like this. Wait times at bar for drinks were extremely long and for waitress to come around as well. Passing by staff, they were very friendly, but it seemed that food, room and desk staff just couldn't go out of their way to help you. That was my opinion anyway.

Amazing Stay!!!

Serene magical and just down right Beautiful. I would recommend the hotel to anyone who just wants a quiet Luxurious vacation. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Over looking the Caribbean seas turquoise waters adds that extra sugar....
