Overall, very nice

Overall s very nice resort. Immaculate property, friendly people, . Stayed at luxury side. Worth the money. Higher end selection of alcohol at bars, better pool side service, and quiet. Wifi great throughout resort. Restocked minibar in room. No problem getting reservations at restaurants and no problem getting lounge chairs. Food quality was adequate but not Gourmet.i did have a problem with concierge . I paid for ocean view and 2 beds. I was given garden view with one bed. Told that rooms are based on availability and 2 beds are rare. No offer to accommodate my reservation. This is not "luxury service". This resort is nice, but not a great beach. . Make sure you visit the "village"on main side. Shops( be sure to bargain prices)entertainment, karaoke, disco, casino. The excursions from chukka are all good and safe. Zip, horseback in ocean are well supervised.

Nice but not LUXURY and forget the reservation system!

We stayed at this resort from February 11 through February 18, 2017. We had a group of 5 couples that travel together every February. a We use the travel site rating system as gospel in our selection criteria. What we found at this resort, billed as "LUXURY", "DON PABLO COLLECTION" was not horrid but came nowhere near the expectation of your rating and their claims. The GOOD: The resort and grounds are beautiful, the staff were generally quite friendly and I will even say the room and view were excellent. Our service people, Nikesha (lobby bar), David (lobby pr) and Raymond and Maureen at the beach bar were wonderful. The BAD: Night 1 the air conditioning system leaked all over our hallway floor. This being a polished stone floor was quite dangerous and both my wife and I nearly slipped and fell. We realize that this was a mechanical issue and reported it. It was fixed promptly. For 3 nights during our stay, only 1 towel was provided. No washcloths, no hand towels. We had to chase down the maid, who told us she had no more to give. The front desk was oblivious to this and after several complaints, we received an additional full set of towels. For 1 evening, our room was not serviced at all and another time they wanted to service is as we were getting ready for dinner (after 6:00 pm). We settled without. Ice at the bars was frequently an issue as there was none and the beach bar was out of ice and even beer DAILY! The UGLY: We tried and even tipped the concierge staff, quite well I might add, to get reservations at the specialty restaurants and were told they were full. After the bribe, we got a couple of basic reservations at the "lower end" specialties but none that we really wanted. We also were told they could not accommodate 10 but no matter, we agreed to split up. We did NOT get into the Don Pablo or the Garden Grill (steakhouse) at all. The Asian was okay, the Hibachi was quite nice and the Brazilian left a LOT to be desired. After 3 days of frustratingly trying to get into Dolce Vita, the Italian, we were told we could be seated at 9:00 p.m. but would have to split up. This was fine. Now, EACH restaurant was more than half empty for each seating that we did finally get. EACH restaurant was insufficiently staffed. EACH restaurant had table setups that could easily accommodate 10 or more and in-fact, we were seated together. Why such the issue? It was our persistence that finally got us into any, let alone, finally, the Italian restaurant. Such frustration is not what a vacation is supposed to be. Finally, we had learned from some of the staff that other staff wages were being withheld. We had no reasons to have this information but it was used as a reason why the service was not up to par. We left the resort billed as "LUXURY" without experiencing that at all. We have stayed at red apple and golden apple resorts in Mexico that have been phenomenal in comparison. Please note that all of this is in the resort control. Nothing about a rocky beach or okay entertainment. The entertainment was good and the beach beautiful but VERY rocky - but that was okay!! Snorkel along the rocks that are protection from the ocean wave - excellent! In my estimation, this resort is not a golden apple rating by ANY stretch of the imagination. Continued reviews on TripAdvisor, Oyster and other websites are indicative of the same issues.

Great holiday at Bahia

We felt that Bahia Principe Luxury (Adults only) was fabulous! The room was fantastic, the food was delicious and the staff were so friendly. The ocean view room had a very comfortable bed and the complimentary liquor and bar fridge were very nice. The a la carte restaurants were fabulous and the buffets were all very good. Jerk chicken was very good! We were disappointed with the lack of lobster which we were told would be served at one of the buffets. We were also disappointed with not being able to make reservations for the Japanese restaurant. The entertainment was great and the resort was so clean. The beach was also lovely. We all felt (group of 8) that Bahia was a resort that we would return to.

Beautiful Place to Relax with Nicest/Happiest Staff I have Ever Met Anywhere

Nothing bad to say at all. From the moment we stepped onto the property everyone just bent over backwards to make us happy. You will not be disappointed. Food was great. Jamaican food offered during every meal at the buffets. Beach was beautiful. Definitely do the Luxury side if you do not have kids. We ate at one of the buffets for lunch on the Grand side and it was a different world at no fault of the staff. Just the usual noise, chaos, and mess that goes with bringing young kids anywhere. In fact I felt sorry for the wait staff there. They looked pretty beat down but they always smiled and took care of everybody. But if you have kids, every parent there looked happy and the kids were having a blast! Neither side will disappoint....highly recommended. Beautiful/immaculate//friendly.

Stayed between January 23 and 30th, 2017. Great weather all week! Check in was fast and courteous and the 7th floor room in Building 26 was very nice with a large bathroom with double sinks. The balcony was large but very windy most afternoons. The beach portion that was the best for swimming was on the Gran Bahia side in the lagoon area. If I swam out parallel to the beach bar at the mid-point of the lagoon beach and then lined myself up with blue slide of the kid's splash area, then I was in the best part of the ocean for me- clear water, approx 6 feet deep, and sandy firm bottom. I could have stayed there forever! Super service from Chris Ann at the buffet for breakfast and lunch- she is the server with glasses. She truly made it feel like a luxury experience being served by her. Nothing was too much trouble. The coffee was always fresh, hot, and refills were fast. Miss Robinson at the buffet was also an asset to the resort- she made our last day great. Food was generally very good at the buffet. Some items could have been hotter such as the Eggs Benedict which were made in advance. The best bet is to get your food hot off the grills situated at the rear of the buffet area. The chefs are there to help- one heated up a grilled cheese for me and I saw another cook frying bread up for an English guest. Dinner at the Don Pablo was excellent- special thanks to Mr. Wilson for making our last night memorable. Frozen drinks were yummy- try the Jamaican Smile with extra rum cream and the Dirty Banana (best one was prepared by Ruth @ the Luxury pool bar). As for the entertainment, the Michael Jackson show was very well done with great costumes and dancing. Also, I enjoyed the Sax player in the Gran Bahia air-conditioned lounge on the family side of the resort. After staying four times at the Luxury Bahia Principe Sian Ka'an in the Mayan Riviera, I found the service from the staff and the quality of the experience to be comparable at this location. A bonus was not having to take a trolley to the beach which can eat up quite a bit of the vacation prime time.
