Few amenities, poor service for non-inclusive guests
Mar 09 2017
We like the Krystal because it's one of the few Ixtapa hotels that offer a non-inclusive option. There have been many changes, though, that cater to inclusive customers and affect the enjoyment of everyone else -- no pool bar, no waiters on the beach, poor service at the poolside grill and bar, lower quality of food and drinks. The hotel and its staff have no incentive to offer good food or good service because so many guests aren't paying separately for it.

Updating needed
Mar 13 2014
The hotel is very clean but needs some updating. While sitting with Elias, your rep on Sunday morning in the lounge area near the elevators, a shower of pebble sized pieces of plaster fell on my head. It did not hurt me in any way, just a weird surprise. But why was it falling?? The tile top of a table in our room was all stained and should have something to clean the "marble" or possibly replace it. You had to ask constantly to obtain a face cloth. Jose, one of the servers for the bar area, was outstanding. He is outgoing, friendly, good English and a very hard worker. He deserves an A+ for service. Overall, it was a great stay. Thank you so much.

Krystal slipping
Jan 28 2014
We have stayed at the Ixpapa Krystal many times over the past 30 years. The pool and beach are wonderful. Furniture in the palapa area is old and not enough of it . Management has reduced the number of English channels to save money. No ESPN in the rooms, only in the bar. They do take advantage of the great ambience. of being able to dine along the beach. This is now available only some night and is a buffet. We go for the pool and beach and it is first class.

This is the third time I have stayed at the Krystal. The employees were very accommodating, friendly, and helpful! The rooms are very nice and the view from the rooms are all wonderful! I can't wait to come back next year!

We have been going to Ixtapa for 30 years. We go because of the spectacular beach. What Ixtapa is lacking is a luxury hotel on the beach. The Krystal has fallen into disrepair over the years.

Hotel Krystal and Ixtapa in general

I live in Vancouver Canada; I spent one week with my daughter in Hotel Krystal. I was favourably surprised by the attention and effort from the staff to make us feel comfortable. In particular Estela, the cook in Restaurant Chinque Terre; Azucena the massage therapist in the Spa and Nayeli, hostess in one of the restaurants; their attention and professionalism was superb. I extensively cycled in the several trails built for that purpose and visited various sites nearby Ixtapa, including Zihuatanejo, and I felt safe all the time. It had overall a great experience. Kids loved the water slide!

Just spent a week at the Krystal and had a great time. Kids loved the water slide, the beach was great. The food was ok. Definitely check out the Italian restaurant. All of the staff were great. This place is basic but it does the trick for a great family friendly vacation that is all inclusive.

My wife and I stayed at The Krystal for our anniversary and had a tremendously nice experience. Pablo who checked us in, made great efforts every day to ensure our stay was excellent. He helped us with the WiFi, laundry, spa amenities, and got us checked in and out very easily. We enjoyed every day in this hotel and looked forward to returning!

Some good...some not so good

First the good. Great location right on the beach. Super service from the entire staff. Food was good but pretty typical resort-buffet kind of fare. The rooms were ok...seen worse. Now the not so good. While there, the clientele was entirely Mexican families with kids...as in lots of kids and lots of noise. It's a really nice property but if you want any kind of peace and quiet this is probably not for you.

Good value

Stayed at this hotel from February 24 to March 3 2017. My room was on the third floor overlooking the garden and beach. I think you have an ocean view from all off the rooms in this hotel. My room was very satisfying and properly cleaned everyday. During my stay they had a Mexican theme night for dinner which was fun and entertaining. The service at the restaurant was very good with a great staff. Many of the workers have been there many years and serve you with a smile. My three restaurant a la carte reservation were done for the Boggart"s which is very beautifully decorated. We enjoyed the food at all three diners. The hotel is across a small shopping mall which is fun for a walk in the evening after dinner. Twice we went to a small restaurant across the street for breakfast. On two occasion we went to a city called Zihua which is about 15 minutes by local bus or ten minutes by taxi. On one occasion we had a drink in this city bye the beach and were lucky to meet a group of Mexican that had just returned from fishing. They caught a very large fish that the restaurant owners cook for them. We were invited to eat with the group and it turn out to be a fantastic afternoon and evening. Will not forget this dinner with pure strangers. The beach was very nice but do not expect to see the beautiful colors of the Caribbean side. During my stay not once were we able to go into the ocean because the waves were to big. It is normal for that area I was told. During my stay there was a group of Mexican which were loud during the night and when I called the lobby to complain I was told there was nothing they could do because they were afraid of the repercussion of these people.
