First time at Krystal and Ixtapa
Apr 18 2018
Service at Krystal was excellent. Food was excellent if you like Mexican food. Only complain was few varieties on desserts and no ice cream to cool off. Loved the long sandy beach. We had to get up early to reserve the palapas on the beach; however, the morning walks were wonderful. Not many vendors on beach-pro&con. We stayed during Mexico's spring break and the pools were very busy-lots of kids. The hotel is located in a very nice area very safe to walk at night. Food outside hotel was abundant. Lots of restaurants. We ate at Reuben's-best charbroiled burgers. Also food at Chili Beans was great both for breakfast and dinner. We also took bus to town(20 min ride) and we felt safe. Only disappointment is that buses don't stop close to the town's main pier-we walked 15-20 mins. This was our first time to Ixtapa and we want to go back again.

Not what we were looking forward to....

Staff was very friendly, facilities were fair, the food was horrible. Buffet looked like recreations of the previous nights leftovers.

Few amenities, poor service for non-inclusive guests
Mar 09 2017
We like the Krystal because it's one of the few Ixtapa hotels that offer a non-inclusive option. There have been many changes, though, that cater to inclusive customers and affect the enjoyment of everyone else -- no pool bar, no waiters on the beach, poor service at the poolside grill and bar, lower quality of food and drinks. The hotel and its staff have no incentive to offer good food or good service because so many guests aren't paying separately for it.

Updating needed
Mar 13 2014
The hotel is very clean but needs some updating. While sitting with Elias, your rep on Sunday morning in the lounge area near the elevators, a shower of pebble sized pieces of plaster fell on my head. It did not hurt me in any way, just a weird surprise. But why was it falling?? The tile top of a table in our room was all stained and should have something to clean the "marble" or possibly replace it. You had to ask constantly to obtain a face cloth. Jose, one of the servers for the bar area, was outstanding. He is outgoing, friendly, good English and a very hard worker. He deserves an A+ for service. Overall, it was a great stay. Thank you so much.

Krystal slipping

We have stayed at the Ixpapa Krystal many times over the past 30 years. The pool and beach are wonderful. Furniture in the palapa area is old and not enough of it . Management has reduced the number of English channels to save money. No ESPN in the rooms, only in the bar. They do take advantage of the great ambience. of being able to dine along the beach. This is now available only some night and is a buffet. We go for the pool and beach and it is first class.

We have been going to Ixtapa for 30 years. We go because of the spectacular beach. What Ixtapa is lacking is a luxury hotel on the beach. The Krystal has fallen into disrepair over the years.

If you get a a good price, go for it. Location is perfect. Rooms have stunning views. Could use more variety of food in the buffets and in the snack bar. Tip and you’ll get bacon. Italian ala carte is very good as is bogarts. Would also encourage you to visit restaurants in the townsite. We loved the Smoke House. Service staff at hotel are very friendly. Resort needs some tic. Pool tables are an embarrassment. Chairs in buffet often have slop or bird poop on their backs which inspired me to not lean back. Music around pool is unbearable - loud and mostly techno. Very slippery treacherous pool deck and walkways. Not enough loungers by pool or by ocean palapas. Up at 6 am to stake out a spot on the beach or pool. Very popular with locals, day passes and families with lots of kids running around and floating with inflatables in the adult pool. Wifi works very well in the room and lobby. We wouldn’t rush back but if you get a good deal you’d be just fine there.

Hotel Krystal is 3 star for sure. Rooms VERY basic, No Bar Fridge, 2 small bottles of water per day (if previous days gone). 11 Floors center is open noise carries. We had pool/ocean view very nice. Nightly show is outside we found it very noisy in our room. Aquamarina Restaurant (Buffet) or Velas Restaurant had mostly local cuisine more some days than others. I overheard some travelers saying they've been eating salad only. The Ala Carts: Cirque Terre (Italian) which you can go numerous times (reservation required) or Bogart's depending on your length of stay you'll get the reservation Tickets both all 6 of us enjoyed. Staff very friendly not too much in the way of activities. Aqua Fitness + Pool or Beach Volleyball that was it. We saw no "Beach" service for drinks etc. "Pool" service very limited some days None. 2 Bars @ Pool also snack bar + pizza shack. Venture out of Hotel quite a few Canadian owned restaurants etc. Deborah's was very good had Canadian Hockey Playing :)

Spent 2 weeks at Krystal and it was not the right place for us. Many, many families and small children. Our own fault as others had commented on this but it did start to bother us after a while. Also a ton of locals which was fine but again mostly large families. So a great choice if you are taking your younger children with you. The good: The staff - worked hard and cared but there were not enough of them which led to poor service. From getting drinks to having room cleaned some days neither happened. Location- excellent. Great beach and pool area and close to restaurants. Price- if you are looking to save money the price is right. The bad: Food- same almost every day. Lack of service due to low staff levels.

Hi. We were disappointed as soon as we entered our room. We were on our honeymoon and expected a king bed. It was on the itinerary as king ocean view. immediately went back to the front desk. They said there was nothing they could do for us. we had to deal with westjet travel rep. Martin. So we had to meet up with him in the am to correct it. He is a good guy. Problem was that they "KRYSTAL" over book with no regard to weather you get the room you want or not, We had to wait two days before a king room was available. so that day we had to wait around until they were able to assist with the room transfer. Basically we had to waste our time between 2pm and 4pm to make it work. Rooms are nothing special Below average In my opinion. Beds not very comfortable. Great view out balcony though. Both rooms had issues to flush toilets. 5 times or more to have a clean bowl. time consuming yikes. So the first night we went down to the supper buffet. We soon realized The Very Poor quality food. Last thing I grabbed was some desert . I sat the plate down at the table and tiny little bug just started to go into a frenzy. Disgusting! Im really not fussy but this was the worst I have seen and had. Ive been to Mazatlan PV. Huatulco Plus many other all inclusive resorts outside Mexico. This was by far the worst. So next day down at the pool which was very nice. We talked to other Peoples to find out there thoughts. Everyone agreed that the food was very poor. This is when we found out that there was a issue with bugs infested. The restaurant closest to the ocean has a natural fibre roof and bugs tiny little one would fall from roof and look like pepper on tables and napkins. A coulple asked a server what it was and was told the honest truth, BUGS! So ya we did not eat there. AS well as anyone that new about it. Going off resort was the only options in this all inclusive trip. So we felt very ripped off! The only cheese was no name singles cut diagonally in wrapper and placed on a plate.. Believe it or not but the best for at this resort was a cheese burger beyond the pool beside the main out door bar. Drink were good At the bars. The rest of the Ixtapa resort area town and restaurant's seemed very good. beautiful beaches with big waves crashing in. Pretty cool. Silver on beach is fake. I would advise anyone to go here and explore but don't do the all inclusive at Krysal. or eat there. You will be disappointed.
