Wonderful Carribean experience!

From the moment we walked in the door, the staff at Iberostar Hacienda Dominicus treated us wonderfully. We had requested a king room and had to change rooms after one night because they were full and we wanted to be in the same building as our friends. The food was generous and our Apple contact gave us practical advice and recommended 2 really fun excursions based on our interests.

Beautiful Beach, Gardens and Wildlife.

We've stayed in numerous Iberostar's. This resort is older, maintained well except for the pool area. Pool was clean just old and need of updates. Maid/room service was poor at best. Upon arrival we had a dirty sheet on our bed and used water bottle in our room, hard to feel comfortable after that experience. Restaurant service was wonderful, food good!

I like the colonial feeling of this hotel. When I go to the Caribbean, I want to see the warm colors and fabrics this hotel does so well. Very friendly and hard working staff-one of the beast things here. Beautiful beach/pool. Specialty restaurants were very good-enjoyed El Colonial and La Geisha the most. The food selection and quality at the buffets was only fair. Pasta sauces all need a new recipe! That should be easy to fix. The food should be presented more attractively, especially the salads and hot food. The concierge idea didn't work well for us. The man was very pleasant but he continually hounded us to attend a "presentation" for a timeshare/discount plan that would give him points to make more money. Please! Just pay him more money to leave us alone!

Not what I expected from Iberostar

I booked this stay in the DR after a positive experience at another Iberostar in Riviera Maya, Mexico. Some positives: gorgeous beach, great housekeeping, friendly reception and concierge, and comfortable accomodations. Some negatives: Kid's program did not appear to have a set schedule of operations the week we were there, to the point where we had to complain to reception; lack of variety of food at the dinner buffet service: thank goodness for reservations at the restaurants on premise; and lack of bar and pool service especially since at the Iberostar in Riviera Maya-wait staff at pool/beach was very attentive.

Nice Hotel but no plan to return

The room definitely did not feel like the rating it was given on the website. Our room was fairly small and the air conditioner leaked every day. We had to lay down towels on the floor to keep from falling on the slippery floor. Our room service though was wonderful and we looked forward to the customized "animal" towels. The hotel staff was nice but we did experience some bad moments where we were made fun of at the beach bar for not speaking their language and a general haughty attitude towards Americans. The other foreigners vacationing there were also exceptionally rude. They have no concept of taking turns or how to say "Excuse me". I thought the food in the restaurants was much better than the buffet. The best part of the trip was Dressel Divers. They were wonderful people, friendly and we had an excellent time on the excursions they provided. Overall, the hotel grounds are very pretty, nice pool, great beach, and good location. I just have no desire to return here.

Overall we enjoyed this hotel a great deal. The grounds and pool and Beach for beautiful and very clean and well-maintained. We were surprised by the fact that the majority of the guests were from Europe or South America but we all enjoyed the cultural experience we had because of that. We were a little disappointed in the buffet Foods but overall it was okay. We especially enjoyed the food at the Japanese restaurant and Mexican restaurant. The activities were fun and we had a nice mixture of relaxing and doing fun things. Are children parasail with a partner company on the beach and there were equipment issues that led to dangerous situations resulted in us getting our kids out of the boat and our money back. Overall it was a great experience and we would not hesitate in recommending it to our friends.

Loved this resort. Staff was wonderful, room was perfectly located. We requested rooms close to the pool and beach because one of my fellow travelers has a prosthetic leg. We were given rooms close to everything. The gardens and all the birds were fantastic. No complaints at all. The only negative for me was that there were a lot of very young children in strollers and crying. Not the resorts fault.

We loved the hotel, the staff overall were not friendly or helpful at all. We had to get our own drinks at the lunch facility and flag down staff for anything we needed. The specialty restaurants were 2 hour minimum and the food was mediocre at best. Our apple rep was non existent and never where he was supposed to be. We finally got him two days before we left. The hotel itself is fine, just need to update the attitude of the staff and increase the food quality.

The resort is completely run down. Showerhead falls down, toilet does not flush. It took us two days to get showerhead changed, and toilet was not fixed. Restaurant staff does not speak or understand English, so it is very hard to order or ask for something. As a result you get red wine instead of white, etc. The same with cleaning staff - they are very friendly but do not understand when you ask for a bar of soap. My German speaking friends experienced the same thing. Very few people who can understand what you need - mostly front desk staff. Concierges are also not helpful, they keep sending you from one to another.

This was my tenth visit with Apple Vacations to the Dominican Republic (6 Punta Cana, 4 La Romana) and, as always, it was fantastic. The people, food, resort/beach, atmosphere, and available activities were top-notch. Needless to say, I'll be returning again through Apple Vacations! Thank you.

When we arrived at the hotel our room was available right away and took only few minutes to check in with complimentary drink. Room was perfect- very clean (cleaning team every day made interesting towel animals with flowers). Buffet and restaurant stuff was very polite and always greeted you with smile on the face. Entertaining team was the best - I never experienced anything like I did this time- Erik, Samy, Tsunamy, Fresita, Leny, Mariela (everyone!) - amazing dancers and singers- had a blast dancing, playing crazy games, doing water aerobics and learning different dance moves. Hope to come back next year to see them all again. Thank you for making my vacation magical and thank you for everything, including the the great weather! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ

We spent a vacation in this resort the forth time. This time everything was on the highest level. I'd say, that the level of service on this resort is close to "Sandals" chain, but certainly much cheaper. The food was excellent everywhere, but especially in main buffet. The TV in rooms has plenty programs on different languages. The rooms equipped by the ports for charging different electronic equipment (I-phones, I-pads, kindles etc). Also you use the safe in room for free. On the beach and in the pools area the servicemen offer you any drinks. We highly recommend this resort.

We have spent a great week in this hotel. The beach of white sand was idyllic and 2mn walking distance from our room. We had 2 rooms for the children and us with a connecting door. The rooms were very comfortable and large. The breakfast, lunch and dinner buffets were delicious and very varied. The staff was nice, smiling and always ready to help. Bayahibe was a great choice away from the crowdy Punta Cana. The garden was paradise on earth with the pink flamingos and peacocks. We all want to go back there.

Always the Best!

I am writing this review as an โ€œIberostar The Clubโ€ Member. It is our\my 6th visit. This resort has the beach and calmest Caribbean Sea which is why we keep returning. All you would expect from an All Inclusive resort including lobster! Iโ€™ve had the same waiter Alberto from the beginning. The best! A special mention to Katiuska at the Star Prestige lounge. She is the sweetest! Coming back again and again. Although we do try other resorts we canโ€™t find one as good as this.

Well worth booking...

We had a great stay at this hotel for 11 nights over October half term with our 11 year old daughter. There was nothing to fault with this hotel and it met our already high expectations. Obviously as can be seen from guest photos the beach and pool environs were fantastic. There was a sufficiently large sandy beach and although the sea was rougher than usual for a couple of days swimming was suitable for all age and ability groups. This hotel appears to have one of the better beachfront locations on DR. The hotel grounds were the star of the show and were always well maintained with an abundance of wildlife in the grounds. Contrary to some reviews we found sunbeds readily available both on the beach and around the pool area. On some occasions the front row of sunbeds on the beach were occupied by 7.30am but I don't think this is unreasonable. Food in general was of a good standard with sufficient variety to meet most of our tastes. A reasonable selection was available throughout the day and the paella they prepare by the beach snack bar weekly is certainly worth queuing for! We managed to book all the al-a-carte restaurants once or twice during our stay which were booked through our concierge Yaris (the hotel appears to allocate a concierge to all guests and she provided a fantastic service)- our personal favourite was the Colonial restaurant. Although there is supposed to be age restrictions for this it doesn't appear to operate. It was a pleasant surprise that branded spirits (including jack daniels, Bombay sapphire and tankersley gin) were available in all bars, even the pool and beach bars throughout the day which is rarely the case in all the AIs we've visited. Possibly my main criticism would be the quality of wine available. Although bottles can be purchased these are expensive. The hotel room (we were in Block 1) was kept clean and again was perfectly adequate for our purposes. The mini bar was replenished with a selection of beer water and soft drinks every day which was a nice touch. Although our room overlooked the theatre the noise wasn't an issue. All the staff work hard and generally appear more cheerful than I have experienced in some other hotels. We did tip towards end of the holiday based on the quality of the service we had received but never felt that there was an expectation that we needed to tip in order to receive a decent service. There was a large group of entertainment staff who work hard all day to keep the guests entertained. Amongst the team are some real characters such as Joel, Banana and Sexy. They certainly kept Jasmine our daughter entertained which helped as there no other English children to make friends with (not that this seemed to bother her!). Although we got a taxi to Bayahibe on one occasion ($10 each way) and did a Saona Island trip it is largely a resort based holiday. One pleasant aspect of the hotel was that there were almost no English guests at the hotel and a majority of the staff speak little English. This meant that we had to communicate with basic Spanish which I had no problem with. During our stay there were a good mix of guests with lot of Argentinian, German & French guests. There were a couple of large French family groups staying during the last few days and they were rather noisy and inconsiderate around the pool which proved this is not a preserve of English holidaymakers. We read reviews regarding pressures of listening to sales pitches. We easily declined these approaches and weren't bothered after that. Also in our view the Prestige package wasn't worth the extra cost given the service received as a 'standard' guest. In summary this hotel in our view is one of the best we have stayed in to date in terms the whole package it offers and if we return to DR we would have no hesitation in booking this hotel again.
