Lost Reservation
ROSEMARIE M.
Jan 17 2018
Great vacation. Had a problem when checking in, they did not have our reservation. The hotel staff said it fell out of their computer system. I was a little concerned but they did give us a room. The system to get a beach hut to stay out of the sun was crazy, you have to line up and get in a lottery to reserve a hut for the next day. Other than these 2 concerns the vacation was fantastic. Beds were comfortable, pillows were comfortable, room was clean.

Second and last visit
JOYCE P.

We visited this hotel in 2000, and had a lovely experience. We visited in October (17 years later) and nothing has changed, which isn't good. The hotel is very dated, the lobby is not inviting (very simple), the pools need to be cared for as they are looking very old. The casino is dated and smelled of cigarette smoke. We were originally given a room in the Sea Tower which was absolutely horrible and overlooked the parking lot. This tower is old and dated. We asked to be moved and were able to do so the next day. We were moved to the Ocean Tower, which had a better view and the rooms looked a bit more updated, but not to my standards. We loved the cheeseburgers and fries at the outdoor bar (near the pool and beach), delicious. We did not see any entertainment while we were at the hotel; the place was very dead at night. We booked this trip through Apple Vacations and we never saw a representative at the hotel, or anyone that we could talk with to book excursions. The beach is absolutely beautiful, the weather tranquil and beautiful. The best thing about this entire vacation was relaxing on the beach. The hotel really doesn't offer much, so if you're a beach lover, you will love this place because it is right on the beach. This was our second visit; and our last to this hotel.

TOO MUCH NOISE

I rate the hotel very good from top to bottom, except for one issue. The noise from the Moomba Bar next door was so loud, I lost two nights sleep. That would need to be fixed before I would give a better rating or recommend to anyone.

Our room faced the parking lot and dumpsters on the other side. Wish I was told where the room was located. Also

We were there with 6 other couples and were under the impression that we would have rooms together. A block of rooms. We did not and were placed on different floors and in different towers. This is not what we signed for. Our agent said that we would be together. Otherwise the staff and the hotel itself were very acceptable. We did have a problem with one dinner at the hotel dining room but the manager very kindly took care of this problem.

What a wonderful first impression. The lobby is very inviting and has a wonderful breeze. Check in went well. Major problem. We arranged for 12 people to stay at the Holiday Inn. We requested rooms to be near each other. The trip was to celebrate the Drenner's 50th wedding anniversary. They had the worst room of the lot. This was not acceptable. Our travel agent requested all the rooms near each other and Drenner's should of had the best room. Cleanliness and friendliness of the staff was great. Everyone went out of their way to be helpful. We did have a problem at the Seabreeze Restaurant, but it was taken care of with the help of Kevin Anderson, hotel manager. We would stay there again, but would not recommend the restaurants.

50th Wedding Anniversary

A group of 12 traveled to the HI in Aruba for one of the couples 50th anniversary. When the reservations were made by our travel agent it was requested that all parties be in the near proximity of one another. We also requested room accomodations: queen/king or double beds. Phone calls made to the hotel and to Apple answered our questions and again requests were made. Once we arrived in Aruba we found out that our rooms were not close to each other, in fact the anniversary couple were in a different building! What a disappointment. I can only assume that Apple does not have good communication with the HI. What is the use of making reservations ahead of time if the requests cannot be honored. I guess the old saying"you get what you pay for" is correct. If it had not been for the fact that we were a party of 12 I would not have booked through Apple

I have traveled with Apple for the last 15 years and this is the first time there was not an Apple Rep. to meet us at the airport, I was looking for the flowered shirts. I was really surprised that there wasn't an Apple Rep at the hotel, I guess everyone is cutting back on help, but that was always one of the reasons I traveled using Apple it made me feel safe when out of the country to know that I had a rep. in the hotel certain hours if I needed help.

Nice place but Lottery for Palapas was not for me.
lovetotravel4444, New York

My family and I just returned from the Holiday Inn. Aruba is beautiful and I would definitely return. However, I would not return to the Holiday Inn for one reason. They have this lottery system set up for picking your spot on the beach with a Palapa. Palapas are basically straw umbrellas that are set up all over the beach. The way it works is the day before you plan to go to the beach, at 3:45pm, you must stand on line and get a number. Once everyone gets a number you must gather around while they draw numbers. This drawing determines the order in which you get to pick your Palapa/spot on the beach for the following day. First person gets first choice, second person gets second choice and so on. Maybe it would not be so bad if you made your selection when they drew your number but it does not work that way. After they call your number you must get on another line and go into the towel hut where they have a map of the beach on the wall with the available Palapa/spots to pick from. It was horrible. People start lining up at 3:30 so you feel like you should also get on line. You stand there in the hot sun for about 15 minutes before they even start giving out the numbers. Once you get a number you must wait around until 4 PM for the drawing to begin then back on line again to let them know which Palapa you want. The whole process takes about an hour. An hour of standing around in the hot sun when you could be doing so many other things. If you don’t participate in the lottery you do not have a Palapa for the next day. Beach chairs are available but you will have to sit in the hot sun all day or spend some money to rent an umbrella. I’m not sure what the price is but I believe it is around $20 each day. This really bothered my family as we are beach people and love to get up early and get a spot right next to the water. Unfortunately for us our number was drew almost last each day and we didn’t get a chance to have a spot next to the water. I did complain to the front desk and the woman argued with me about how wonderful the system is. I have traveled all over the world and never experienced such a horrible system. Maybe it works for some people but it did not work for my family. Other than the issue with getting a spot on the beach the place was very nice. The grounds were beautiful, the location was excellent, and the service was good. The rooms were ok except the rugs were old and dirty. I can’t speak much about the restaurants as I did not eat in them.

Wonderful place. Great location

I went to Aruba with my family of six.. There was two kids and four adults. We stayed at the holiday Inn and was very please with the staff. I must say the staff members were amazing. Rosa our front desk lady that check us in was amazing. Words can't explain what a beautiful soul this lady is. Martin was awesome too. The staff kept our room very clean. The hotel is close to a lot of nice restaurants. I must say all the hotel staff and people in a Aruba are wonderful people! I enjoyed every minute of my stay and is looking forward to going back. I also had lunch at the Sea Breeze restaurant and it was great. Thanks to all the staff at the Holiday Inn! You all made us feel at home & we can't wait to see you all again!!!!!!

Beyond our expectations

To be honest, we booked our stay at the Holiday Inn because we waited too long to book at our first choice and got priced out. That said, everything about our stay exceeded our expectations. Yes, our room was pretty basic; but we had a great view, and the room was really clean. There were many restaurants, so we hardly left the resort. We didn't know that kids eat free at Holiday Inn, so we came in under budget! The restaurants are on the campus were very good, and there are lots of them to choose from. Additionally, the hotel has a taco night, a pasta night, and a lobster night. We did taco and pasta, and the food was particularly amazing on pasta night (my young son has three servings)! The beach is lovely, and the pool was great. I don't think it's possible to be anywhere in Aruba and not have a great view. That said, this hotel had everything we hoped for in terms of lovely Caribbean views. Lastly, the staff is wonderful and attentive. The pool security was strong, making sure that the kids playing were safe (did I mention there's kids room), and the wait staff -- specifically Monique, Diana, and Erwin -- helped make our stay just wonderful. We are already planning our next trip.

would suggest familes/couples stay at the Holiday Inn

I would recommend this hotel to everyone looking for beautiful comfortable place to stay. Plenty ocean, lots of water activities. children will love the pools. Hotel staff outstanding. Plenty activities for adults and children.
