Lost Reservation
ROSEMARIE M.
Jan 17 2018
Great vacation. Had a problem when checking in, they did not have our reservation. The hotel staff said it fell out of their computer system. I was a little concerned but they did give us a room. The system to get a beach hut to stay out of the sun was crazy, you have to line up and get in a lottery to reserve a hut for the next day. Other than these 2 concerns the vacation was fantastic. Beds were comfortable, pillows were comfortable, room was clean.

Second and last visit

We visited this hotel in 2000, and had a lovely experience. We visited in October (17 years later) and nothing has changed, which isn't good. The hotel is very dated, the lobby is not inviting (very simple), the pools need to be cared for as they are looking very old. The casino is dated and smelled of cigarette smoke. We were originally given a room in the Sea Tower which was absolutely horrible and overlooked the parking lot. This tower is old and dated. We asked to be moved and were able to do so the next day. We were moved to the Ocean Tower, which had a better view and the rooms looked a bit more updated, but not to my standards. We loved the cheeseburgers and fries at the outdoor bar (near the pool and beach), delicious. We did not see any entertainment while we were at the hotel; the place was very dead at night. We booked this trip through Apple Vacations and we never saw a representative at the hotel, or anyone that we could talk with to book excursions. The beach is absolutely beautiful, the weather tranquil and beautiful. The best thing about this entire vacation was relaxing on the beach. The hotel really doesn't offer much, so if you're a beach lover, you will love this place because it is right on the beach. This was our second visit; and our last to this hotel.

TOO MUCH NOISE

I rate the hotel very good from top to bottom, except for one issue. The noise from the Moomba Bar next door was so loud, I lost two nights sleep. That would need to be fixed before I would give a better rating or recommend to anyone.

Our room faced the parking lot and dumpsters on the other side. Wish I was told where the room was located. Also

We were there with 6 other couples and were under the impression that we would have rooms together. A block of rooms. We did not and were placed on different floors and in different towers. This is not what we signed for. Our agent said that we would be together. Otherwise the staff and the hotel itself were very acceptable. We did have a problem with one dinner at the hotel dining room but the manager very kindly took care of this problem.

What a wonderful first impression. The lobby is very inviting and has a wonderful breeze. Check in went well. Major problem. We arranged for 12 people to stay at the Holiday Inn. We requested rooms to be near each other. The trip was to celebrate the Drenner's 50th wedding anniversary. They had the worst room of the lot. This was not acceptable. Our travel agent requested all the rooms near each other and Drenner's should of had the best room. Cleanliness and friendliness of the staff was great. Everyone went out of their way to be helpful. We did have a problem at the Seabreeze Restaurant, but it was taken care of with the help of Kevin Anderson, hotel manager. We would stay there again, but would not recommend the restaurants.

50th Wedding Anniversary

A group of 12 traveled to the HI in Aruba for one of the couples 50th anniversary. When the reservations were made by our travel agent it was requested that all parties be in the near proximity of one another. We also requested room accomodations: queen/king or double beds. Phone calls made to the hotel and to Apple answered our questions and again requests were made. Once we arrived in Aruba we found out that our rooms were not close to each other, in fact the anniversary couple were in a different building! What a disappointment. I can only assume that Apple does not have good communication with the HI. What is the use of making reservations ahead of time if the requests cannot be honored. I guess the old saying"you get what you pay for" is correct. If it had not been for the fact that we were a party of 12 I would not have booked through Apple

I have traveled with Apple for the last 15 years and this is the first time there was not an Apple Rep. to meet us at the airport, I was looking for the flowered shirts. I was really surprised that there wasn't an Apple Rep at the hotel, I guess everyone is cutting back on help, but that was always one of the reasons I traveled using Apple it made me feel safe when out of the country to know that I had a rep. in the hotel certain hours if I needed help.

Another Fantastic Stay!
Cy2015, Iowa

My fifth consecutive stay for one week. I cannot say enough about the entire staff and how they go out of their way to make your stay the most enjoyable possible. It starts at the top with Kevin the Gen. Mgr. He interacts with the guests on a daily basis and asks if eveything is going well. I had a light out in the bathroom. I called the front desk. Within two hours the new light was installed. I had a message of when they were in my room and if I needed anything else. I had met Martin the past couple of years at the beach house. He was recently promoted to a management position and he made sure to touch base with me two or three times including as I was leaving. I know I will miss some names but Margot checked me in again. I believe she has checked me in four of the five visits. The first guy I see when I arrive is John one of the valet guys. He has been here since the hotel was built. John is always a welcome face and personality. Last year I was having WIFI problems. Kevin had Daphne address it and she ended up installing a model in my room. When I got to my Ocean Front room this year there was already a modem in the room. I saw Daphne in the lobby I thanked her and she said to let her know if I had any problems with the WIFI. Roy at the Beach House does a great job in his quiet manor. I missed seeing Alturo who was on vacation. I could go on and on but this is a great resort for a couple's get away or for the family including small children. The staff is constantly sweeping, mopping and cleaing to make the resort as clean as possible. I can't wait to reserve my week for next year!

We loved our experience at the Holiday inn as it is ideally located on a beautiful beach offering lots of activities for the whole family and behind it you can walk to several restaurants, shops and even a Starbucks is only a 5 minute walk. Next door iare several good restaurants offering lovely beach vies and great food at a much more affordable price than the Holiday Inn. We are platinium with Holiday Inn so our expererience was amazing as we did not have to fight for a palapa, and had a goregous view from our room. I do not know that I would stay here without those priveleges as they have a daily lottery at 3:45 for the rest of the guest to try to get a palapa for the next day which is not only inconveneint if you are not there at that time but also very stressful as without the shade of a palapa your expreinece will not be so enjoyable. Next to the resort are several beach front restaurants offering great food beachside at a much more affordable price than the holiday inn. Our favorite was Moomba Beach

While we might often stay at Holiday Inn Express with a quick overnight road trip, it is not a chain we ever really consider "resort" for an Caribbean vacation. Aruba was a last minute decision for our family right after New Year's, and with limited hotel availability, we thought for a quick trip, we would give the Holiday Inn Resort a try - and we were definitely happy with our choice. The hotel is older, but seems to be well maintained for the most part. The hallway to our room smelled a little musty, but our room did not. We booked a beachfront room, which did have a very nice view, ample space, clean, updated, had a mini-refrigerator, and the beds were comfortable. The only 2 negatives in the room were 2 double beds (we prefer at least queens, especially with our kids age difference, but knew this when we booked) and the bathroom was rather small for 4 people- however, the shower was spacious. Just a note - the rooms are large enough if you wanted to bring a twin air mattress with you. The staff at the resort were all very friendly and accommodating. There are 3 pool areas, and they are right by the ocean, which is especially nice when you have kids. Even though we visited during a peak season, we never felt crowded and always had a chair at the beach - which is where we mostly stayed. Based off our previous visits, we brought a couple of $4 pool floats, and left them deflated until we arrived. These were great to use in the ocean, and kept us from spending $5/float at the resort. We ate on the resort for lunch everyday and one dinner, and all meals were very good. The lunch cheeseburger was a huge hit! :) Kids under 12 eat free, which was really nice. The resort sits right across the street from a major shopping area with many restaurants, which was nice for evening dinners or strolls. We have visited Aruba two other times, staying at other resorts, and we all agreed that we would definitely come back to this resort - although we might book 2 adjoining rooms for a little more bed space for the kids :) We have already been looking at booking for spring break or early summer. It was very relaxing and comfortable vacation and look forward to returning!

Truly a HOLIDAY at the Holiday Inn Aruba!

Location Location Location. You could walk everywhere via the beach or the avenue in front of the hotel. The Holiday inn was clean and had all the amenities one can expect from a resort. The best part of the Holiday Inn are the people whom work there. Also the cost - it was more than half per room versus what other hotels on the same beach offered. Holiday Inn also had great lobby shops - best souvenir shopping in the area. All restaurant and great restaurants within walking distance of the Holiday Inn. We loved happy hours (buy 1 get 2 4:30-6:00pm every day), Jullieth was so wonderful to us during our stay and even got my Mom to join in a salsa lesson. Rosa at guest check-in went out of her way to accommodate us and help us through out our stay. We were equally impressed and I have to say a first - the manager of the hotel was in the lobby everyday greeting and helping people. He helped us hire a taxi that would drive all 8 of us to various restaurants during our stay (note by law Aruba taxi's can only carry 4 passengers). For New Year's Eve there is no better place to be than on Eagle/Palm Beach. We have seen NYE firework displays all over the world and by far Aruba's were the best. Up and down the beach and the inner island had displays beyond description. The only New Years tradition a little jarring is the tradition of setting off hundreds of firecrackers randomly through out the week around the island - sounds like gun fire - need I say more. What kept me from giving the Holiday Inn 5 stars (Beach Palapas, New Years Eve hotel party, housekeeping) The system for a beach palapa is ridiculous, during our 8 day stay we did not once get one. My husband would get up early and get an umbrella by the pool for my 76 year old mother. The manager - I was so impressed with - explained the palapa shortage is an Aruban government issue and the Holiday Inn is only allowed to incorporate so many each year however each year they add 20. My suggestion is maybe in the meantime have umbrellas available (especially for the elderly and young children). New Years Eve party? We decided to stay at the holiday inn and enjoy one of the two NYE party's at the holiday inn. We chose the beach party however December rains prompted the event to move inside (such a shame because the outside setup looked lovely). We quickly discovered the NYE party was a dinner and that was all. The dinner was wonderful however we were expecting a little more. So we bought a few bottles of wine and sat with our family under one of the courtyard palapas and waited for the countdown to midnight. Housekeeping was not consistent at night. We had three evenings - housekeeping did not stop by and collect towels, etc. All in all I highly recommend the Holiday Inn in Aruba. Their location and the people whom work there make your vacation truly special.

It serves it purpose ..

If you are a traveler that doesn’t care about the hotel because you never use the amenities, you are never there, and all is needs .. is to be clean, have a bed and have a shower. Then this is the place for you! You get what you pay for... although it’s more of an upgrade then most holiday inn’s. Pros: great location, affordable and right on the beach! Like I said it served its purpose for a couple in their 30’s. We never stayed on the grounds! Cons: families and children everywhere! I did not like the breakfast buffet- cafeteria quality! And the walls are very thin. We had a screaming infant next doors to us that cried for 5 days on end. If I could make one suggestion to the hotel it would be. You have 3 towers PLEASE MAKE ONE ADULTS ONLY!! I was in the sea tower and if you get a room with no view you face a beach club next door that blasts music to 2am.. have fun sleeping! Would I stay here again .. only if every hotel on the island was a fortune! Hyatt is the place to be! But I thank holiday inn for their hospitality - we really had no other issues otherwise!
