To start this was the 6th time that my wife and I have been to Jamaica, and 12th time we've traveled the Caribbean in as many years. This is what we base our perspective from. If you've been to another resort such as Sandals, Beaches, or Iberostar (and liked it) you, like us, won't enjoy your stay here. If you thought any of those were bad, you definitely won't like this place. First, the airport transfer took way to long to leave the airport. We were on the ground at Montego Bay Airport standing outside at the bus terminal waiting for 45 minutes before we were even shown the correct bus to ride. From there we were another 30 minutes sitting on the bus waiting to leave. Second, upon arrival to the hotel, NO ONE seemed to know what was going on. The check in process was horrible. It wasn't slow. Slow would imply someone was doing something to get you checked. At times 3 or 4 people were behind the counter to check one person in. We didn't even arrive in one of those huge buses, it was 12 people tops. Third, it didn't take long for the hotel staff to offer us something to "feel alright". I get it, I'm in Jamaica, but I was also standing next to my children. I wish it happened just once. On the contrary it happened multiple times a day. The staff at the hotel also won't do anything to stop people from blazing up on the beach right next to kids under 10. Even if you say something to the staff you get a generic no worries youre in jamaica answer. I'm not naive to think people don't smoke pot at other places I've been in Jamaica, but when you have idiots who should but don't know better you expect the hotel to do something to curb it when its done next to kids. Forth, "complementary refrigerator" that gets restocked daily was pitiful. Even when you asked for more bottles of water they wouldn't send them. On the one occasion that they actually did deliver the water, it took 90 (not a typo) 90 minutes for them to deliver the water. We had all fallen asleep by the time they showed up. The refrigerator didn't even get cold. Fifth, the room had a layer of film all over it. Dingy and dirty is the only way to describe the room. Sixth, the gigantic pool was just as dirty as the room. First there are broken tiles everywhere. Especially in the places where your kids will swim. It is so bad that one of the kids in our group of friends cut their toe. If it wasn't the tile, it was the black mold or the green algae that was growing on the tiles in certain spots. Seventh, the food was decent but not great. At one of the restaurants we sat down only to find that they didn't have about half the things on the menu. It was literally easier for the waitress to explain what they had. The childrens menu is the same at every restaurant, and only after pressing the issue at times did the waiters and waitresses accept the kids ordering of the adult menu. Staying on the restaurants, one of the points that got upset was the fact that at our 60 minute check in we were told that there weren't any reservations possible at the restaurants. The night we wanted to go to Hibatchi however, we learned that it was the only exception to the rule. The staff at check in didn't even know the policy. Come to find out that the next night at a "no reservations" restaurant they couldn't seat us when dinner first opened because they had too many reservations. Go figure. Eighth, the sports complex was more like an archaeological ruin. The soccer field was a mess, and the miniature golf that they advertise was horrible. I probably should have known better consider the travel company i booked through doesn't even offer an email address that doesn't bounce back when you try to email them. When we booked, they said they had an exclusive concierge on site to take care of us before we left however if you weren't booking an excursion you were just directed to the front desk to get someone else to tell you that you're out of luck. I'm waiting to speak with someone before I publish their name.

Located 45 mins west of Montego Bay the Grand Palladium Jamaica is a visual delight. With its soaring white domes, colonnades, and massive pediments you get the feeling that you’re strolling through Jamaica’s plantations of old. It’s quite a large resort but easily walked end-end, in about 15 mins. Tram service is available throughout the resort if mobility is an issue. The landscaping is stunning. Countless varieties of palms, flowering shrubs and hedges line the resort walkways and grounds. (interesting touch is they have labelled most the greenery with their common species name) We arrived just as everything was coming into bloom. What a treat for the eyes. The Large Infinity pool, I’m told it’s the largest in Jamaica, is very nice and sports a swim up bar. It’s surrounded by several lounging areas which all have ample cover with Palms and cabanas throughout. It’s here the beach volleyball is located. As well the resort has 2 smaller adult only pools each equipped with its own bar. We enjoyed the one near building, several times, after off-site excursions and was pleasantly surprised when live entertainment showed up in the late afternoon. There are several man-made beaches that front of the resort, Las Brias beach, with a protective breakwater, provides a calm, shallow swimming areas (waist to chest deep) and has a small reef where countless colourful fish hide between the cracks and crevices. Further around the point is a lovely, smaller and more private Coral beach. Nice swimming area and quite intimate. The larger, and deeper, Sunset cove is located at the western end of the resort and is where the water sports complex can be located. Sailing, paddle-boats, stand-up surf boards and windsurfers are available Our room was a very large suite in the main Jamaica complex. Equipped with a king-size comfortable bed, a lovely sitting area, nice balcony, bar, safe, large walk-in shower, and huge jacuzzi tub. It’s all you need for relaxing comfortable stay. I can’t say enough about the staff at the resort. From the gardening staffing, who are more than happy to answer questions about the flora and fauna; to the housekeeping staff, who kept our room spotless and greeted us with smiles; to the service staff, who constantly inquired if there was anything we needed as we explored the resort; and all the waiters and bar personnel who strive to ensure your glass was never empty I give a hearty thank-you for making us feel special. I enjoyed the breakfast and lunch buffets. Service was prompt and the staff were constantly refilling the countless selections that were available. The variety of foods was quite staggering. Lunch at the Poseiden restaurant, located a Sunset cove, shouldn’t be missed. Try the whole snapper & chips or the fish tacos. Truly delicious. It’s the a la carte I have some issues with. There a seven different restaurants at the resort. A nice feature is that you don’t have to go through the silly reservation line-ups like some other resorts. Only the Asian restaurant requires reservations, and only if you want to sit at the live cooking table. The chefs put on quite a show, while they prepare your meal right in front of you so I would recommend you do it once. I’ll do a quick rundown of the restaurants Poseidon ( seafood) located at secret cove. Very good. Try to get there for sunset. Amazing view. Bhogali ( Indian) very good.. nice and spicy. Great selections Lotus House ( Asian) good/very good.. good food. Excellent show by the chefs. Xaymaica ( Jamaican ) good.. the goat was unbelievable. However had the toughest New York steak in my life the second time Bubba steak house good. standard steak house fair. Nothing bad but nothing really stood out Arte E Cuccina ( Italian) fair .basic Italian menu. Again nothing outstanding. El Agave (Mexican) (adequate) big disappointment. Bland, toned-down Mexican. More like a lunch menu than true Mexican dinner. Only the snapper entre really hit the mark Desert menu seemed to be restricted to a 2-by-3 inch rectangle of whatever (key lime pie, tiramisu, cheesecake, etc) surrounded by drizzle. Almost seemed like it came out of a factory tray. Only the lotus House had something unique; deep fried ice cream . Another aspect that disappointed us was the wine selection. All the restaurants served the same bland, pedestrian cabernet. (both white and red). Would have much preferred a decent merlot, sheraz, malbec or for the Asian how about saki. The nightly entertainment, with a different theme every night, quickly became repetitive as only the backdrop and music changed. The moves, mostly out of sync, didn’t seem choreographed any differently show to show. This was really brought home one night when a guest troupe from Cuba put on an absolutely fabulous show. I will say the local troupe do work very hard and do try to be entertaining; however I expected a little higher quality from a 4 star. We did enjoy our 2 weeks at the Grand Palladium. As I said the resort is lovely, it’s setting unbelievably beautiful. I have heard Jamaicans are the friendliest people in the Caribbean; well every one of the staff at the Palladium have taken that adage to heart.

We stayed here with 2 boys, 5 & 8. It was great and beautiful property. The kids had so much fun between the kids pool and the kids club. My husband and I actually got some alone time as the kids wanted to go to the kids club everyday. Food was great and room beautiful. Activities, 2 beaches and night shows. We only had 1 mishap with house keeping but, I don't lefty it thing our trip.

Great vacation

After reading all the reviews about this resort I was a bit hesitant even after booking it. I heard the food was bad, people were rude, and it was a long walk to everything. We stayed in villa 11 which is located next to the kids pool. The rooms decor was a bit dated but still very nice. Bed was a bit uncomfortable but other than that it was good. I personally loved the food. They had many different options. The buffet for breakfast was great but for lunch not my favorite. I would prefer the jerk chicken on the beach for lunch. They had some great music at night at the infinity bar. The workers were all so friendly. Almost every day we took a walk to the beach to either get lunch or watch the sunset it was great. Don't let the reviews scare you. I had a great time.

Resort is nice, clean, one room suite is nice size for adults with one child. Housekeeping is prompt, room service reliable and timely given size of resort. Pool is great, bars good and several if them. We tried majority of the restaurants:- buffet for breakfast, good burgers by the pool & several nicer dinner places. Lines get long so for steak house, Italian go early. Mexican was good, Italian ok, steak good- the bar there the best. Spa OMG- even if not going for treatments do day pass it is amazing. Why not excellent:1- the constant selling by staff gets old literally wanted to start avoiding them. Understand commission but there is a limit. 2- beaches not the best. Expected to snorkel daily- didn't not what I expected. Overall amazing and highly recommend it. Can't go wrong here at all.
