Let me start off by saying that I read many reviews of this resort on different sites but still made the choice to go. I had done the same 5 years ago on another resort and if I let the bad ones deter me then, I would have missed out on a great vacation. But, this one was bad that we cut our trip short by 3 days and returned home last night. 1. Paid for the honeymoon villa, outside shower was not working even after 2 visits from maintenance. Had to wash hair in the tub. Finally after 2 days moved to new room. 2. Buffet horrible! Expect to get an upset stomach, constantly!! Upon entering we were greeted by the hostess pulling out a hand sanitizer bottle to have squirted onto our hands. Food was below mediocre except the muffins and monotonous. 3. We only managed to make it to 2 al la carte restaurants, Italian and Mexican. Italian was good food, Mexican, horrible. Both these nights, a gentleman interrupted what was a relaxing, romantic dinner with my husband so that he could shove his ipad at us to take a 20 page survey on the restaurant. I did it the first night but when approached again at the Mexican restaurant I declined. How wrong is this during a vacation!! 4. Do not get sick or stung while here. The nurse knows nothing other than how to collect money. No doctors on staff, only on call and they can take hours to get there. That's when they will tell you that you need to be taken to the hospital. All this because my husband got stung by a stingray and she didn't know what to do. A shuttle driver who picked us up had more knowledge of the injury than she did and the injury has been better since we did what he recommended. This was the last straw. We booked another flight and were gone. There was more but honestly it is too much to go into. We just didn't feel comfortable there. For us too save and get to finally get away and then return before our trip was over says something big, bigger than I can explain in this review. Lost money on hotel and airfare, but my piece of mind is more important. More>

My wife and I spent a week at this resort, lots for everyone to do. Staff where friendly and treated us fantastic, not one person was unhappy to get us something. The entertainment night was fantastic, we watched it every night. The resort had three beaches to choose from. Bars located through out resort never a problem to get food or drinks.Pools very large, never had any problems getting chairs to sun tan in. More>

Amazing Staff, Average Resort

Honestly, Grand Palladium is not a resort that everybody will love. In total, I've stayed 6 nights in a room on the Jamaica side of the resort and thought it was a pretty average resort experience. I first want to state that this resort is not in Montego Bay like they advertise on their website. Montego Bay is a tourist hot spot, and the owners know this which is why it is mentioned on the website. It's about a 45 minute drive from the airport in a town named Lucea. It's a lot less busier than Montego Bay, however the location was not an issue for me. If you would like to stay closer to the airport, I would advise you avoid this resort. Now before I get into a thorough review of the Grand Palladium I want to highlight how wonderful the staff is. Almost each and every staff member I've encountered have been phenomenal and have gone above and beyond to ensure that we were happy. They work extremely hard and you can tell that they really value the guest experience and enjoy their jobs. Talawah and Tyson in entertainment were extremely friendly and really made Grand Palladium lively. Look out for them at Sunset Cove Beach, the nighttime shows and at the Infinity Bar after the shows. Maximo in entertainment was also great. Dwayne the bellman and Javid, the shuttle driver were always helpful. Shana-Kay & Nickeshia in the restaurants, Rohmaine in Travel Club, Nixon at the beer hut were also all wonderful. If you decide to visit this resort, please be prepared to wait for a substantial amount of time on check in day. We were told that our rooms would be ready by 3pm, however, we didn't actually receive room keys until around 4:15. Also, when we booked the rooms we requested two rooms with two queen sized beds. But when we arrived we were told that they had none of those rooms available and would be staying in rooms with one king sized bed and a pullout couch. Several other guests were also told the same thing. This was an issue and we were not able to switch our rooms until two days into our stay. The rooms were average at best. For a 4 star resort, I feel that the rooms could've been much better. I was especially grossed out by the bathroom. There was a drain issue in both the shower and the sink and the water would not drain efficiently. I'd recommend to bring shower shoes. Also, we lost power two nights for a significant amount of time each time. Management disregarded this inconvenience and lied and said that power was out on the whole west end of Jamaica, however relatives informed us that this was not true. A 4 star resort should at the very least have a functioning generator. There was also a period when the TV and phones did not work and this issue was also disregarded. Overall the rooms were very disappointing. The food was fine. There's a restaurant for everyone's preference. I didn't have any complaints about the food. I want to emphasize that the travel club presentation was a complete waste of time and it seems like a scam. Do not sign up for it. The travel club staff that works near the front desk were very friendly, so we decided to go see what the presentation was about. We were told that the presentation would be 90 minutes, however it ended up being closer to 3 hours. I was really turned off by the travel club presenter, Fernando. In fact, he was the only staff member that I really did not like. He made several inappropriate jokes and even comments about his sex life. I personally wouldn't take anything from him for free much less buy anything from him. He was very unprofessional and lacked decorum and 10 minutes into the presentation I already had my mind made up that I would not purchase this membership. He kept reminding us about the "ridiculous amount of money he makes," and from thereon I was completely disinterested. Steer clear of the travel club, don't waste your time. Overall I would say that the Grand Palladium was only alright. The only reason that I would come back to the Grand Palladium would be for the warm and welcoming staff that I encountered. They really do enhance the experience, but if not for them I'd definitely find somewhere else to stay. More>

"Amazing Staff"

I recently vacationed at the grand palladium in Lucea and left with mixed emotions. First of all, the staff is truly amazing and put forth tremendous effort on a daily basis. Notable mentions, Tallawah and Tyson in entertainment, Dwaine and Javid in concierge, Shawna Kay and Nikeisha servers in the restaurants and Rohmaine in travel club to mention a few. Honestly for a 4 star hotel the rooms were not spectacular. We stayed on the Jamaica side of the resort and had several negative experiences. The bathroom was not constructed properly so the water in the shower would not drain out after taking a shower, please bring shower slippers. The tub looked dirty and the sink stopper didn't work. The paint job was also horrible . We lost power 4 times within two nights for significant periods and after the power was restored the tv had no service for hours. There were no managers around to offer reassurance to the guests or any explanations as to why the generators did not work. For 2 days we had no working telephone and after it was reported no apologies were given. Also, the putrid smell of raw sewage was present especially at night. What left the worst taste in my mouth was the travel club. We were told that the presentation would last 60 mins or 90 mins with lunch, this ended up being over 2 hrs long on the last full day of our vacation. We first met with Fernando who took us on a tour and started the presentation. The first thing out of his mouth was, "They pay me ridiculous money to do this, and I get whatever I want around here." That immediately had my guard up. Next he proceeded to tell us intimate details of his love life, which was so inappropriate. He then took us on a tour of an extravagant villa costing $9,000 weekly but said they currently have no members at the level to afford it. The lunch we were promised ended up being at the same restaurant we would have eaten anyway and during lunch Fernando kept laughing out loudly and at times when there was no joke. At the end of the presentation he took us back to the office and when I told them I was not interested he said he had to use the bathroom and sent in another man who said he could give us a better deal. During this time both men just scribbled numbers on a yellow note pad and we were told we had to make a decision immediately, once we walk out the door the deal was gone. We decided not to partake because of several red flags. Overall, I enjoyed my stay only because of the staff who went above and beyond to make the guests feel welcome. More>

This wasn't our first time visiting; so we decided to go again with another group of family and friends which totaled (12). Our rooms were not stocked (continuously asking for towels), there was No proper working phones throughout the entire stay, the Airports had No Internet Connections so you couldn't reach out for Help from anyone in that country. The reservations that was made...at a set time Was Not reservations when you was given a 8:30 time and not seated until 10:00 on various occasions which was very unacceptable! Food orders taken not given right meal, nor appetizers! Was promised one thing and received different and NO BODY Knows Anything...THERE WAS JUST TOO MUCH LYING GOING ON WITH THE STAFF AND NEXXUS (THE TRANSPORTATION) TO AND FROM THE AIRPORT TO THE RESORT WHICH WAS PROVIDED BY GOZENGO! THIS WAS JUST POOR AND HORRIBLE SERVICE FOR A RESORT!! VERY UNACCEPTABLE! Our Party will not continue to patronize establishments here nor mentioned them to ANYONE!! More>
