Don't listen to the bad reviews

Me and my girlfriend spent 10 days here and I haven't got a bad word to say about the place. We stayed in room 3215 on lady Hamilton side great room and a even better view. Room was always spotless after the cleaner had been in, mini bar stocked everyday apart from 1 day but rang reception and somebody came and filled within 30mins. Loved all the restaurants including the buffet restaurant, the man who cooks the omelettes at breakfast deserves a medal great omelettes every time under pressure (legend). The pool area in the day is brilliant hats off to the entertainment crew...bars are good at night usually ended up in the infinity bar after dinner for a few beers and a Bob Marley shot. Over all if your looking through the reviews and see a few bad ones and thinking of not staying here I would say give it a shot and you won't be disappointed. More>

Let me first start this off on a positive note: Our trip was truly INCREDIBLE!!! I feel soooo blessed to have been able to go! And regardless of what negative connotations you may get when I describe something, I assure you we didn't have an actual bad experience there, most of what I describe will be in a "chalked up to inexperience type of way." So let's get the review going. I'll try to keep it in order. Keep in mind neither my husband nor I have really traveled out of the country. The plane ride to and from Jamaica: We flew Southwest Airlines and it was super easy. As someone with anxiety and my first time flying since I was 11yo, it was terrifying to think of! However, going through bag check, security, and on to boarding was a breeze! The U.S. really has done a SUPERB job at making this process quick and efficient. And I worked myself up more over-thinking it and didn't even have a single problem. Southwest airlines has great security measures in place to make you feel genuinely safe giving them your information and traveling with them. The ride both ways was pretty smooth! Except landing back in Chicago, but hey, it's the windy city... You have to expect some turbulence coming in. Note: While flying, wear earplugs or listen to music with ear buds both ascending and descending, chew gum or similar substance (like skittles), and swallow often. This will help with ear popping. Customs: While traveling to or from Jamaica, if you have your own medical prescriptions with original bottles and labeled, yes, put it on the customs forms, but you can go through the regular check lanes. Otherwise you will spend A LOT of time waiting for nothing. DO NOT CONVERT YOUR MONEY TO JAMAICAN AT THE AIRPORT!!!! Driving in Jamaica: While staying at the Grand Palladium Resort and Spa booked through RCI, we were assigned Caribic Vacations for our transfers to and from the hotel. While there were a few mixups here, we ended up with a private transfer to /from the hotel by the driver Spence. He did an AMAZING job!!! He took the time to answer all of our goofy and detailed questions, he gave us valuable and insightful tourist tips about our stay, and much more! We were pretty dead set on keeping him as our private driver for the duration of our stay but the drivers through Caribic rotate their driving schedules so they aren't always available. However, we got Keith (who owns his own private car and *IS* available as long as he isn't scheduled previously- I'll submit his information below) for our shopping trip and he is totally AWESOME too! He took us to see the different ways in which people live in the area. He took the time to explain in extreme detail the ins and outs of daily life and their culture. All our drivers were a wealth of information, history, and definitely worth the extra money for private tours! I really felt "Jamerican." And I'm sure private tours are far more comfortable than the crowded buses too! Our driver back to the airport from the resort was Miguel and again, these guides know what's up!!! They have exactly the answers to any question we had and gave us TONS of tips to make our vacation memorable. While the resort offers plenty to do for your typical vacation, if you are wanting to immerse yourself in Jamaican culture like we did, take the private excursions! It's more than worth it. They'll take you to their own favorite beaches, local cuisine, night clubs, etc. They'll go anywhere you ask! All three were FANTASTIC!!! Thanks again guys! The Grand Palladium Resort and Spa: The Palladium is overwhelmingly GIGANTIC, BEAUTIFUL, AND WONDERFUL!!! To name some of the activities we did- *Had a blast at the infinity pool & swim up bar. One day I played water polo there too. *I did stretching one morning (which was lovely) and I felt very limber and it still worked me out! *After stretching, they do Zumba, which I opted to do on my own in the water. I was still easily able to listen and view the instructions from the pool. * I played beach volleyball one afternoon. *My husband and I spent a couple days at the beach. One day we went on the snorkeling excursion (which was quite a new experience since we had never traveled outside the U.S.) As much of the area close to the shores are overfished, I recommend scuba diving so you can get closer to the reef and have the "swim with the fishes" experience. You are still able to see the reef clearly while snorkeling, you just won't get close to the fish. *Another day we went paddle boating, kayaking, and swimming in Sunset Cove. That was a BLAST and we had the pleasure of meeting a cute stingray (no- we didn't get stung!) We did however get a killer video and pictures of him swimming! I also recommend getting the (....) underwater camera. It's totally built for vacations and excursions just like this. *Another day I did trivia. *A different day I did bartending. Which was SUPER FUN!!! We made our own concoctions and got judged on the taste by the group. Shout out to the groundskeepers and our room staff (Simone). You guys did a fantastic job! Every day we had fresh new room supplies and the groundskeepers also were friendly and asked if we needed anything. Even if we wanted fresh coconut water. The Drinks: If you traditionally like Malibu, then give it to someone else because after you drink Appleton which is what nearly every drink on the resort is made with, you'll not go back! Appleton Rum is AMAZEBALLS!!! My three favorite and recommended drinks are "Bob Marley," a completely frozen drink, "Rum Punch," and "Blue Hawaiian." In the morning I drank mimosas. Their Rum cream is also DELICIOUS but not something I was able to drink a lot. My husband on the other hand now swears by it and even brought some home to try in his coffee (which everyone told us to try. And it is DELICIOUS.) The drinks are not made consistently, as they don't really measure anything which was fine by me! But I pretty much always said "not so strong," and they remained perfect (for me). But they'll make them however and whatever you want! The food: Yes, like many other reviews say, the 3 buffets basically have the same thing every day...HOWEVER... There is a big enough variety on the buffet lines that you don't have to eat the same foods every day. And overall, the food is ...OK... At best. It's not spectacular, but what do you really expect from buffet food? Fine Dining: *The Jamaican Restaurant was hands down the best!!! Everything just tasted fabulous. *Asian was gross to me because I love sushi and it wasn't prepared the way I typically get it, but that's a personal preference. They don't do hibachi, so there was a limited selection for me. What I chose was not very good. The Miso soup was spot on though! My husband liked his meal though! *The sports bar was our favorite and "Go to" food destination. Sadly they had better Mexican food then the Mexican restaurant. My husband compared his burrito from the Restaurant to what he would get out of a Hormel can. *The Italian was a little disappointing simply because they didn't even have manicotti. And they over-sold their dishes with fancy Italian names and descriptions for what you got...what we got...was something you would expect from an Applebee's or equivalent. Our Olive Garden's sell more intricate dishes. *Poseidon...for a restaurant near the beach, I expected a larger seafood selection. As an all inclusive resort, this was fantastic for the price! I HIGHLY recommend this resort to ANYONE and everyone. We will be returning in 2018 with our kid this time and my husband's relatives. We are sooooo excited. We didn't have our son with us on this trip, but we were amazed at how many things we thought he'd enjoy there! And something I should note: The Travel Club is totally worth it if you travel yearly. We got a deal that we pay $600 for two years and get two weeks to use. You can either use one week a year, 2 weeks a year either apart or together, or if you want to use more than one room you can use both weeks for 2 rooms (one room=one week). They have a TON of participating hotels if you don't want to go to their 7 sister hotels. Plus just going on the tour and listening to their speil we got a couples massage even if we hadn't bought the time share. More>

Pros and Cons

Pros- the staff at the hotel bars, restaurants, theater and grounds could not have been nicer. They smiled all the time and had a can-do attitude. The pools were huge. Buffets offered a wide selection of food and my date and I enjoyed the meals at the steakhouse and Italian restaurant. The grounds of the hotel were kept in excellent shape. Cant recommend for these reasons. AC in the room was spotty. Hotel is an hour from the airport. Whirlpools didn't work at any of the pools. Front desk was crazy understaffed when we arrived at 1:00. A room was ready for us but we were offered an upgrade to a ocean view for $20 a night. Great! Went to lunch and upon return it was not ready at 1:45. Many times we checked back and the room wasn't ready until 4:15. Would never have agreed as the first day at the hotel was shot to hell. When I asked for a room credit for all of the inconvenience they only offered a $20 credit, which is a joke. More>

My husband and I spent 7 nights at this resort. We had a wonderful time! We stayed in building 12 which was a short walk to the lobby and restaurants as well as to the infinity pool. There was an adult only quiet pool with bar directly across from our building. Our room was made up each day no later than 9am and our fridge was kept well stocked. We enjoyed the buffets, Miss Lou's coffee bar, jerk chicken and paella on the beach, and a few of the a la carte restaurants. We had no trouble finding something good to eat. We also ordered room service a few times and the food was delivered quickly and was very good. The bars were all fun and had quick service. I had a spa service and while the girl who did my individual service was friendly, the employees at the reception area of the spa were not too friendly, in fact they were the only employees whom I found to be stand offish. The only complaint I have about the resort, and it's a small one, is the fact that the Las Vegas bar where the casino is located was not air conditioned. It was extremely hot in there, to the point where it was unpleasant. Many other patrons felt the same and so very few people spent any amount of time there. Overall, we had a very fun and relaxing vacation. We would good back for sure ! More>

The staff was absolutely amazing! The entertainment crew was awesome especially Travis and chocolate. They were super friendly and great dancers. They were also super sweet and I'm so glad I got to meet them and play fun games with them. They made the pool enjoyable with fun games to play like water polo and beach volleyball. Travis's dance moves were so cool and he showed me some awesome new dance moves! More>
