We just returned from our wedding at Dreams Punta Cana! I thought it might be useful to provide a candid review of our experience. Check-in was fine, room wasn't ready, but we only waited about forty minutes. We met up with our WC Deyanira (who is AMAZING btw), while we were waiting, she saw us and gave us a letter with an itinerary of the week (when to meet up with her, DJ, etc). I believe usually the letter is placed in your room upon your arrival. Room was very nice. We had the honeymoon suite, which we booked initially (we did not want to risk not having it). We inquired about an upgrade to any other better rooms when we arrived, but were told that there were no others available (only to find out later there is a VIP section with crazy nice rooms, but hey, its only a room!). The room was a little humid/moist at times for lack of better term, but it is Punta Cana! The AC worked very well. The fridge was always well stocked, and they cleaned usually twice a day. We had a lot of issues with our keycards not working. We wound up getting a total of four different ones. The rooms could use more outlets too (they were all US compatible). But honestly, we loved our room, and like I said, we werent there for the rooms. We booked a beach bonfire months ago, for a welcome party the first night everyone arrived, which wasn't in Dreams schedule, leading to many frantic attempts at explaining we booked it (it was to start at 7pm, and it was 730 without any sign of it on the beach). The language barrier was very evident here. No one knew what we were taking about, and we spent about 45 minutes on hold waiting for someone to help us. It was not until we demanded to speak with Deyanira, (this was no fault of hers), that we were able to work things out. The beach bonfire was fun! They kept it going even a little past the two hours we booked. We just used our beats pill for music, and people got drinks from the bar nearby. We didn't pay for anything extra. In the future, I would just make sure to confirm this with the resort/your WC when you first get to the resort. The second we spoke to Deyanira, the issue was swiftly fixed. The spa is beautiful. I would highly recommend a massage, and also spending time in the pool/swim/jacuzzi area, gorgeous!! The wedding itself went off without a hitch. We got married on the beach, which was great. As I said earlier, Deyanira is awesome! she really worked with us and has a wonderful demeanor. We had our reception in the Bordeux terrace which was very nice, but very HOT! I had to change out of my dress pretty soon and a few guests left because of the heat, but, its the Dominican and we had a great time anyway! We hired a DJ, plus, the extra hour, and he was excellent. We did the dominican buffet which was very good (even though we only had 38 guests, they let us book it- at a price of course). Deyanira checked on us multiple times, and was just wonderful to work with. We had Michael from Caribbean emotions, he was excellent. We would highly recommend him. Can't speak highly enough about Michael, worth every penny! Even the photos included in our package from Adventure photos were nice (50 color photos), but we had to pay $300 to get them digitally (which we thought was a little ridiculous). We had a private dinner on the beach which was lovely. The food in general was decent, and we tend to be foodies. The buffet was good, lots of options and I loooove rice and beans, which they had. Breakfast at Oceana was good, but dinner and lunch, not so much. The Italian restaurant was not good at all. The hot dogs and burgers on the beach were scrumptious. The Seaside bar and grill was excellent! From my Husband: I would like to again emphasize how amazing Deyanira is. She is there almost every single day for 14+ hours, got back to us within 10-15 minutes every time we needed her, never once seemed bothered with our numerous questions/requests, and is simply a pleasure to have been involved with during this process. We brought down a suitcase packed full of things for the reception (center pieces and things for the sweetheart table) and gave it to her with minimal instruction. She took this and turned it into a beautiful reception without asking us for any further guidance. She truly is the reason that this wedding came together so smoothly and beautifully (that and of course many hours of planning by my beautiful wife :-D). I hope that you all get to have the same amazing experience that the two of us and our family/friends did!! More>

Amazing Resort

This was our 5th trip to Punta Cana and 1st at this resort. Honest and detailed review: The resort grounds are second to none. They are simply amazing, well kept, lucious, spacious. Very clean. Lots of peacocks everywhere, and feisty males that like to show off their plumage. One of the trees near the lobby houses a gorgeous parrot that you can get very close to for a picture. There's also a duck pond out in front of the resort and flamingos about halfway down toward the beach. The pool makes this resort. It is never ending and the seating is plentiful and spacious. The chairs are very comfortable and of a great quality. No towel cards required at this resort, its a bonus. The rooms were a little small compared to what we are used to, and could use a little more storage. A shelf under the sink would be a great bonus....keep that hairdryer there as it takes us precious counter space. I also could have put my personal kit under there, which took up another chunk of the already small counter. A chest of drawers under the TV would be helpful too. The bed was sooo comfortable, I had no issues sleeping. We were in a group of 14, so housekeeping varied from room to room. We had great service for the most part, but others had no towels/facecloths. We got a small bottle of rum and snacks in our room and others didn't. Their maid service didn't show up until 5 pm, right when they were getting ready for dinner....which was a bit inconvenient. Overall, our whole group was pleased with the resort, as the rooms are a minor part of it. The lower main lobby has a coffee shop called the Coco Cafe, which was amazing. Open 24 hours, it always had snacks on hand and the cappucinos were great. We used to sum up our day there after dinner. The shows that we did see were ok. The hypnotist was terrible...no theme. Was quite boring. The circus was really good. I heard the Western show was really good. We were there for the Super Bowl and the production they put on there was amazing. They went above and beyond as far as I am concerned. Staff there was very upbeat and friendly....happy all the time! The restaurants, including buffet, were excellent and no reservations required. What a bonus. There is no issues getting a table at all. Food was fantastic in the whole resort. The air conditioning in the Bordeaux restaurant was way too cold and it caused me to have cramps in my back. Seating at the beach was ample, but the chairs weren't the most comfortable as they sagged a bit, but they were tolerable. The beds were a nice touch, but you have to get up early to get one, and they weren't very well shaded. The stone fired pizza at the beach restaurant was excellent, highly recommended. The bars were plenty and they do have beach/pool side service, which is a bonus. The only complaint about the bars is they water down the premium booze/liquors, which does not go hand in hand with a 5 star resort. We could really tell with the Kahlua and the Baileys....the Amaretto was totally clear without a hint of tint to it....either don't water them down, or offer them at a price. The added touches of an ice cream cart (with a bicycle, like the dickie dee guy), a fruit stand that daily made fresh fruit kabobs, racks at your table to hang hats and purses on, the Coco Cafe, really made the resort special. Friends of ours had a facial and the fish therapy at the spa and highly recommend it. You can get a massage at the beach for $30 vice what the spa is asking. Be careful of the rocky bottom in the water...for best results swim over by the big donut on the left side. I would go back to this resort in a heart beat...the pool made it for me...it was simply awesome. More>

We had a Deluxe Swim out room in block 4 which was perfect. Not too close to the entertainment and with a little terrace and grass leading to the pool. The bed was huge and the room well appointed with aircon and a ceiling fan, a DVD player and an ipod dock (fits iphone 5). The bathroom quite functional but ok. Minibar restocked every day with water and soft drinks. By eating late (breakfast before 11am) we missed the rush and still had loads of choice in the restaurants. The buffet was amazing - loads of healthy options amongst the usual suspects. Only wine (not prosecco) and beer served with dinner, but cocktails and cava were available at all the bars around the hotel. Good coffee shop in reception that served proper decaff coffee, not instant. All in all there didn't seem any reason to upgrade to the Preferred Club. The all-inclusive amenities were great. Speaking of which, the best part of the holiday for us was the tennis. Leonel, the resident tennis pro, was always upbeat and we played every day at no extra cost. The gym was really well equipped with 4 treadmills, steppers and weights. The beach was lovely with a breeze to keep the temperature down, whereas the pool had floating mats and was great to relax in. There were just about enough beds although people did get there early and reserve them. Overall a great holiday and well worth the money. More>

Best All Inclusive I've Been To

We checked into this resort on Feb 2nd. Check in was super quick and easy, we got our room keys and headed straight to the room which was ready. Rooms were extremely clean, everything in good working condition. Just the right size for two people. Way more tv channels than at most all inclusives. We used their room service every day, it was quick, the servers were all super friendly, and they catered to any special requests. You could even order up full bottles of wine to your room at no extra charge. The food was always hot and yummy. The grounds of the resort are breathtaking and immaculately maintained. Tons of great places for photo ops, peacocks walking around, and a flamingo hub. They're completely spotless too, you won't find any litter or debris anywhere. It's amazing how hard working the staff were in this department. Beach was just perfect. White sand, next to no seaweed, no rocks. Again there is no litter or debris on the beach as they're constantly walking around to make sure everything is to their standards. They have tons of water sports and equipment available, with many group activities like beach volleyball or flag football going on. Pool was also spotless, and a great size. You are within steps of reaching the pool from any of the hotel rooms. There are tons of floating rafts to use, and plenty of loungers. Our whole trip it was easy for us to find loungers or beach chairs for the whole family. The pool bar was amazing, great daily drink specials and fun staff. Canadians should take note that you can order real ceasars with clamato juice. The buffet was the best at any resort I have been to. Tons of options, and everything prepared to perfection. The omelette station was a breakfast favourite, as was the pasta/risotto station for lunches or dinners. There are so many options for everyone regardless of your eating habits or dietary needs. We never got sick of it. Table service was fast and efficient. We tried Oceana the seafood restaurant and it was definitely our favourite. Was the same quality of food you would get at a high end restaurant back home but with way fresher seafood. Bordeaux was also very good, we enjoyed the appetizers, the beef wasn't what we're used to but it was still tasty. The Italian restaurant was also amazing, the shrimp risotto is a must try. Service in all restaurants was fantastic. They're all very well trained and go out of their way to make sure you have a great experience with them. We did not have one bad meal the entire week we were there, the food is one of the main reasons we would return to this resort, it's truly amazing. We were there for a wedding which was absolutely beautiful. It was in the palladium and the set up was lovely. Dinner was outside on the huge patio of the Japanese restaurant. The set up was beautiful, staff were so great. and the food was amazing. We all had a blast celebrating there. There was lots of entertainment, always something to do. We had one incident with the man who ran the karaoke calling out some of our group, but other than that the singing was a riot. There were dance lessons my grandparents really enjoyed, a show every night in their huge theater area, a 5D ride with mini movies one night we all used quite a bit, a riding bull, games area, and live music every night at one of the outdoor bars. We were never bored! The disco was also super fun and the DJ played great music for dancing. The kids in our group seemed to have a blast. They tried out the kids club and their parents said they really enjoyed it. We did the hydrotherapy circuit one morning at the spa. It was super relaxing. Spa is beautiful, extremely clean, and the staff were great. The gym is smaller than it looks in the pictures but has everything you need for a workout. The resort also put on an amazing superbowl event. Tailgate party with tons of great finger foods and wings. Screen was huge, staff worked really hard to keep everyone's glass full; it was a great experience. There's free wifi throughout the whole resort. Overall my fiance and I absolutely loved this place and will be returning in the future. I highly recommend this resort to anyone travelling to Punta Cana. More>

4 Star Property; staff were the highlight for me

My rating of 5 reflects a 4 Star Resort. This was the first All-Inclusive Resort I have ever visited; it reminded me of a Princess Cruise I also took with family... to be up front; such is not my preference but I get the practicality of All-Inclusives when travelling with family. If you are looking for a bespoke, luxury experience - this is not it. The closest I got to such in Punta Cana was spending a day at Little John Restaurant at Juanillo Beach. Beautiful beach, great clear water, white powder sand, really good food and drinks - amazing service at an auto 30% above USD menu price. Dreams to me was a machine that delivered a good family experience. It is most def not a 5 star resort if to be scored with the expectations of staying at a Four Seasons or St Regis. The rooms are dated; they are clean (not spotless). A/C is ho hum but any issues shared will be promptly remedied. I thank Jorge the Rooms Manager for making us comfortable during our 9 day stay. The highlight of our trip were the team at the Premium Lounge. Isamar Mercedes and Juan at the Premium Bar really cared about our experience and to me had all the traits of exceptional NON-TIP driven hospitality. These two people always wore a smile and conveyed a sense of genuine care which resulted in some of the best service I had this trip. Thank you Isamar and Juan :-) Ambar at the Premium Desk also way out of her way to ensure we were having a great time! We all appreciated her checking in from time to time to see if she can make our trip any better. Jesusa at the Teppanyaki Restaurant was the star of the trip. She is very sharp, personable and knows how to deliver service that rival what I have experienced with the Six Senses and Aman resorts. I would be surprised if the soon to be open Four Seasons did not steal her away to lead their F&B Outlets. Do make a point of seeking her out on your first day and introducing your family :-) Food was best when cooked in front of you was sought out. There are some stations at the Buffet, Teppanyaki, fresh requested pizza from Tratoria (Thank you Salvador) and the steaks and fish from Oceana. More>
