Very impressive experience from the moment we landed and received direction from the airport staff (with Couples) to our check in, well, the entire week! We highly recommend this location for so many reasons. If you go away frequently or once a year, this is a guaranteed pleasure to visit. I normally do not go back to any resort, but I'm definitely going back. The staff are fantastic, anything you need they assist you and are super friendly. The choices for dinner are perfect, seafood, steak pasta or the buffet. The coffee of course if fantastic, the wine is very good as well. It's rare to have the best of it all on a destination vacation. The rooms are clean and bright and spacious, the shower is large and clean as well as great water pressure. Not one complaint at all, long beach to walk on, two pool areas adjacent to each other and a huge beach front area with security reducing the amount of vendors approaching you. News flash, do not sit on the beach at sunset by the trees, the sand bugs nail ya! Bring bug spray in your carry on.

Amazing Vacation!! Couple in late 20's

My boyfriend and I just returned from Couples on Thursday. We had the time of our lives. I have to admit I was a tad nervous going since I'm 29 and he's 32, that we would be surrounded by mostly stick in the mud's at a "couples" resort-we certainly were not. Everyone there was here to have a great time. From the workers to the guests, we found everyone to be friendly and carefree. The hotel offers a sunset catamaran booze cruise which was great! We dove off and went into a cavern and could slide down the boats water slide. The bartenders were cool and on the ride back pumped up the music to top 40 and it turned into a party. The food was much much better than I had expected especially for an all inclusive. Lychee was amazing, the sushi great and salmon awesome. The Beach Grill was also very good for both lunch and dinner. The fine dining restaurant was delicious and the service was great. Even the buffet was awesome. I actually hate buffets and was overwhelmed by the selection and flavors of all of the food. Others before said the nightlife isn't the best- totally depends on who you are with. We met about 3 other couples who closed the piano bar- which turns into a club- lights and techno, down with us every night. My bf and I actually felt bad because it was 3am and could tell the bartenders were tired but they were all so sweet and didn't complain! Note to all- there is a no tipping policy but do the workers and yourself a favor and throw them cash! They're not supposed to take tips but 5 bucks at the pool bar will ensure you're hooked up with cocktails speedy! As for alcohol app mid shelf- Smirnoff, absolute. At the fine dining you could buy bottles of nicer wines which we did. The resort was very very clean. Pool bar very fun! Beach, relaxing. Do yourself a favor and head off the resort to "the office" a little bar about 10 mins north for a cocktail and some lobsters which are caught and cooked right in front of you. Also, head to ricks- I didn't jump but my boyfriend did and he said it was a bit painful but awesome. We met people who had been to couples negril 5, 10, 15 times and while I can't say I can commit to going that often, I would love to return sometime in the future. Side note- remember YOU make the party- so don't sit there and expect people to make it fun- make your own fun. You'll never see most of these people again so love life and have fun!!

We can't wait to go back!

This was our first trip to Jamaica and Couples Negril. I don't think I've ever been so relaxed in my life! The staff makes the entire experience amazing. Everyone was friendly and willing to help. We took advantage of a few snorkeling trips and even got see a sea turtle! The catamaran was also a blast and swimming in the caves was beautiful. We met so many friendly people on the boat. As teachers, the most amazing trip we took was to a local school that Couples has a partnership with. We learned a lot about the Jamaican education system and had an unforgettable experience meeting so many students. I highly recommend this trip! The rooms were simple, clean, and cool. I do agree with all the reviews that say some remodeling needs to take place, but honestly I liked that the buildings really blend in with all of the beautiful, tropical plants and trees at this resort. The beach was like no other I have ever experienced. Every lounge chair had a float. There were so many gorgeous trees on the beach which provided shade. The local musicians that played along the beach were phenomenal. Donovan was one of the biggest highlights of staying at Couples! What a great performer! Unfortunately we got stuck trying to return to the U.S. during the Delta nightmare the first week of April. This was in no part due to Couples. A good thing that came out of this was that we experienced Montego Bay for a night at a really new, modern hotel. The hotel was very much like a loud, cramped night club. This experience quickly reassured us that Couples Negril was the place for us. We have already booked our next trip and have signed up for the payment plan Couples offers. A big thanks to the staff at Couples Negril for an amazing overall experience!

First time to Jamaica

This was our first time to Jamaica. We usually take our annual trip to some part of Mexico. So I am trying not to compare but that is hard to do. This is a much farther trip for us so when we arrived in Montego Bay pretty early in the morning I was not anticipating waiting in looong lines. ugh. It was a good 2 1/2 hours! I think every plane arrived at the same time! So it would be wise to purchase the VIP package. They had minimal people working at the airport to shuffle people through. The bus ride to the Couples resort was dangerous to say the least. It was an awful experience. Upon arrival at the resort we were greeted quickly and effortlessly to our room. We were in building 5 which was close to the beach, farther from the restaurants. We never really understood the restaurants until the last 3 days. Which ones were reservations and which ones were not. It was hard to get a clear and concise answer from the staff. I don't think that I am a foodie, but the food to us was just o.k. The food in Otaheite was the best food we had the whole time we were there. The Cassava Terrace which is the buffet option was always a question of, do you get a plate and stand in line to be seated or do you stand in line to be seated then get a plate? We never felt greeted with smiles and happiness. The staff looked bored, tired and annoyed. Sometimes you waited a long time to get water and coffee. Knowing that we were going to a country that spoke English were were expecting more conversations. They made no effort to have a conversation. They don't speak English it is something altogether different. Walking through the resort I always felt that I was in the way of the staff. They were always in a hurry to get somewhere and never acknowledged you. I felt several times that I was always moving to get out of their way. They weren't rude just looked more annoyed and didn't really seem to care how you were getting along. The entertainment was nothing exciting and basically we heard the same 3 songs over and over just sung by different people every night. The movie night on the beach was a bust. The bon fire on the beach was ok. The Beach party might have been fun but was rained out. The beach was nice and fun to walk. The water was the best we have ever experienced in our travels. The temperature, the color and the calmness was incredible. We swam when it rained. We never once used the pool, because the beach was why we were there. I never heard any music during the day around the pool and the beach. I really missed that. The craft vendors was a fun option to do. The basket making with Joe was fun. The tye-dye shirt making ended up being fun after you stand around for a long time watching her make the shirts, I asked if I could please do it myself. The water activities were great. Lots of options. We had planned on going to Mayfield Falls but the bus trip to the resort ruined that for us. We had fun thanks to the Ocean. Would we return? No. Pros: The ocean water activities maid service check in check out service nude beach sunsets floaties porch swings cons: airport bus taxi Staff entertainment food no music bathrooms sucked. Shower was ridiculous design with water on the floor! No fan either! Photography. Amateurs. We set up some photo times, the pictures we paid for were out of focus and again wasn't getting the friendly vibe. After 15 years of all-inclusive in different parts of Mexico we tried Jamaica. We will stick to the Caribbean side of Mexico. Beaches are comparable, the people are way more friendly and want to talk and greet you every morning with a smile and a Buenos Dias! By the third morning here I wanted to cry, with the attitude of the workers just going through the motions. The food, music and entertainment in Mexico is hands down ten fold to what we experienced here. We never learned a thing about this country and its people. They literally had no desire to talk to you. We felt like cattle many times during our stay. Just going through the motions with the workers. The bus ride to the resort showed just how much garbage was in the oceans. That was sad to see. Neither one of our drivers gave any information along the way. If someone did ask a question it was never really answered. This was far to travel and expensive. We had a beautiful time but most definitely have had better. Ya mon!

Overall Great Place

I read over 100 reviews about couples before Me and my wife decided to go for our Honeymoon. We stayed from April 15-April 20th, 2017. I have traveled all over the world and last year visited Boracay Beach in the Philippines. Me and my wife have never been to Jamaica so we decided to go to Couples Negril. Upon arrival we were surprised that the Resort was very old and the Lobby is an Open atmosphere. Check in was very nice we were welcomed with cold towels and champagne. Check in was smooth and our 2 heavy luggages were brought to the room. Upon arrival in the room, once again the room looked nice but aged and looks like it needed some renovations. We expected a very new room given the amount we paid per nightly stay. Also the view was not beach front view. The View was obstructed . Also no bottle water we were told the water from the sink is purified and good for consumption. At first I was skeptical and upset but eventually decided to try the water form the sink. My wife said the water was great and so drank from the sink through our stay. The bathroom was like an open space and the shower stall open also, so when you shower water constantly drips all over the floor. It was always a mess but we git used to it and used up many towels each day. Room service was great they did a great job with cleaning the room. There was also evening touch for room service. After our first night we were feeling no so thrilled about coming here. However, after our first day we started getting adjusted to the place and began to really enjoy it. The Beach was perfect in the morning, blue and beautiful and no need to hustle to get beach chair in the morning there was plenty of room and chairs on the beach. The service on the beach was however hit or miss. By day 3 when we went on the beach then we started getting consistent service. The resort has many repeaters so I think sometimes the people that know the place well and are repeaters get better service than new people. It also rained everyday which was a damper on our trip. The food was on a scale of 1-10 about 7-8. We wanted more Jamaican food but the food was mostly catered to american audience. We ate at all the restaurants they were all very good. There was one restaurant where you have to make reservations and it was great. The workers there were very friendly and helpful. So overall after our trip I will recommend this place. If you are new it takes 1-2 days to get used to but after, you fall in love with the place. My wife began to really enjoy the stay after day number 3 and said she really likes it. My recommendations for this place. 1. The owner needs to renovate the rooms and the buildings. Am sure they making enough money to invest in renovating the place. I visited the Royalton next door and their rooms are beautiful, new nice and very pleasant also they have more beach front views. Couples Resort really has no beach front views. It will help if they cut down some of the trees. 2. Renovate the Lobby make it indoors with air-condition and glass windows so the outside light can shine in. The lobby needs major renovations , painting and upgrading. 3. Renovate all the rooms otherwise they will loose a lot of people to the next door Royalton. 4. Allow guests to TIP the workers, lower the nightly rate and allow guest to tip. It is ridiculous when you have a waitress that waits on you all night and she doesn't get a penny in tip. I noticed the waitress are nice but they didn't smile much and looked overworked. To make them cheerful and more eager to work let guest tip the waitress even several dollars will be nice. Tip the bartenders and tip, tip tip. Just reduce the nightly rate. 5. Have more Jamaican food at the place. 6. Have a nightclub their that runs every night with mix of hip hop, jamaican music etc. Will I visit again yes, I love this place now but it could even be better. But if they don't renovate the place and upgrade the building, I might find myself going next door to Royalton.
