Casa Dorada is perfect for couples/families

Casa Dorada is great. Upon arrival, they didn't have a room for our first night, so they put us next door at ME Cabo. beautiful rooms, but wrong atmosphere for us (loud electronic music). When we returned on the second night, we reafirmed that Casa Dorada was the perfect choice: great pool service, lovely rooms and amazing staff. To make up for our troubles, the staff gave us some complimentary items and we left happy. Granted, having had the purchased room (and hotel) from day 1 would be ideal, but they made up for it. Would stay there again if returning to Cabo.

The Casa Dorada is a beautiful hotel and the rooms are spacious with wonderful views. The location is prime to everything!! Just a few things really rubbed us the wrong way. Upon arrival we were briskly handed off to a guy who presented himself as hospitality/activities person which quickly turned into a timeshare push and pressured us to come to a "special complimentary breakfast" to see what all of the resort and ownership had to offer. He said it was going to be $20 to pay for the breakfast and hold our spot. We quickly told him we weren't interested and he said "well is it because you don't have $20?" RUDE!! Another incident was on the beach and the manager came up to us and said "our security camera's saw you go to your room and return with a bucket a beer, you have to buy beer from the beach staff, that's our policy! I quickly told him that we did purchase our beer from the pool bar and showed him our receipt and stated what he SAW was my husband filling up our beer bucket with more ice from the first floor ice machine. It was very rude and he was VERY mistaken on what was supposedly "security cameras"! Didn't happen. Anyway besides those two incidents, we had a wonderful time and all the staff besides those 2 people were absolutely charming, sweet and eager to please.

Very cold in the room. Should have portable heaters when needed. Bathtub shower very dangerous, no grab bar and can slip on bathtub floor.

Rooms were really really nice and kept up perfectly! Resort was a bit noisy due to Mango Deck bar.

Was told at check in that the hotel was intentionally overbooked. Although we were offered a room at another hotel (penthouse) we were not happy that after we had paid for our room months in advance that this could happen. We stayed at this hotel in October 2013 and loved it so much we booked it again within a week for March 2014.

The hotel, staff, food, bar, spa, etc. were excellent. I highly recommend this hotel but caution you going during Spring break unless you like teenie boopers as they crowd the restaraunt on the beach which is located directly next door to the hotel. This has no bearing on the hotel, just the time of year. As a matter of fact the Mango Deck, next door, is also excellent for their quacamole, staff, and entertainment.

Another great time at Casa Dorada

We stayed two weeks this year. We have always had a great time at Casa Dorada! What makes it a great place are the people from the time you walk in. Everyone is looking to help. Service is prompt and friendly. There were a few people this trip we really enjoyed. Silvia on the beach was always great! Melissa in the Bar was friendly and did a great job. Our housekeeper, Evi, was friendly and took great care of us. Things we like best about this place... - The location can't be beat. Lots of restaurants and bars in neighborhood with many new choices this year, almost don't need to walk into town. But town is a short 10 minute walk away. - The rooms are fantastic. Large with plenty of kitchen and communal space. Almost a perfect combo of condo and resort. This year we were upgraded to a 1 Bedroom plus. But we have stayed in 1 bedrooms and Executive Suites in the past. 1 Bedroom plus is nice as you get a second bathroom. - Service! Everyone is great. Fast, attentive service. Good specials at the pool. - Location on Medano Beach - in the middle of it all. That can be a minus if you want something more relaxing or chill, but I like being able to walk down a busy beach, hop into a beach bar or restaurant, and watch it all happen in front of you. The roped off beach area keeps the vendors from bothering you. Mango Deck can be loud and crazy during the day, but really quiets at night and by 10:00 is not even noticeable. - Food - other than 12 Tribes, the main restaurant which is average, the food is very good. The shrimp Caesar salad was one of the best things I had all two weeks. The Sushi is GREAT. Overall, very impressed with food options. Would ask that they make it easier to order from the Bar. There should be a menu for the Bar. Quesadillas also very good. Bar has a nice selection of craft beers and large selection of tequila. - Nice to have the renovated workout room. Nice for a hotel exercise room with plenty of options. Some things that could improve... 1. Wifi - this should be free or at least less expensive. Also, improve the quality of the wifi and bandwidth. We often lost internet connectivity. Would really like this improved. 2. I don't like the fact that some days groups of cruise ship passengers were allowed in with day passes. Maybe something that lets the guests know what is going on each day would allow us to plan. For example, what days have weddings, cruise ship passengers, different events, specials, etc. We will be back! Love this place.

The Best!!!

Recently returned from my twelfth stay at Casa Dorada at Medano Beach. The dates of my stay were 9/22-9/29. This is without a doubt my favorite resort in Cabo! The location is superb--Close to everything! On the best swimmable beach in Cabo. The rooms and views from all the rooms are terrific although the higher the better. Twice a day maid service. They REALLY spoil you!! But best of all is the service. They have always made me feel welcome, special and part of their family. I would like to recognize a number of people. Sr Perli and Oziel, Juan the Concierge, Emilio and Bismark at the pool, Sylvia at the beach and Luis the lifeguard. Everyone at the resort is terrific. I can not wait for my next visit in May. Give this resort a try. You won’t be disappointed!!!

Hey all ! Can hardly wait to see everyone this weekend. It’s Cabo Barbie’s home away from home ........ Casa Dorada is such a beautiful resort on a wonderful beach and has the best staff ever!!!! If anyone wants an exceptional vacation, you must come here.....so many restaurants on-site and others so close to walk to. No rental car required as you can walk to Cabo San Lucas town easy within 10 minutes, and lots of taxi’s around if you want to go up to San Jose Del Cabo town. I love swimming right in front of the hotel and hanging at the beach club. We have vacationed at this resort for many many years at least twice a year. Saludos!

Private event played loud music until 2am

My husband and I stayed here for 4 nights in January. We chose this hotel because it was supposed to be new (built in 2008), small (only 150 rooms), quiet and romantic. Unfortunately, the beautiful property is greedily managed. Since there are so many similarly priced beachfront properties in Cabos (that don't host events with loud music way into the night), we will not return and would not recommend. The hotel is located at the party central of Playa Medano – Mango Deck – so there are always tons of locals trying to sell things on the beach around the hotel. It’s much less annoying on either end of the beach. Mango Deck, however, is only rowdy in the afternoon and quiets down around dinnertime. Although the hotel claims to be beachfront, there is no direct access, unlike the other hotels on Playa Medano. To access the beach, you have to go down the stairs to the street level, exit the hotel, and walk through the hotel restaurant where people could be dining. If you want a hotel that is directly on the beach, look elsewhere. The facilities are nice and well-laid out. There are 2 swimming pools (saltwater I believe since I’m allergic to chlorine), a hot tub big enough to fit 15 people, 4 restaurants, 2 hammocks, several swings, 2 fire pits, a spa, and a fitness centre. We didn’t eat at the restaurants or use the spa, but we used the fitness centre, which is decent for a hotel gym. It has 8 cardio machines, several cable machines, and some free weights. There are many lounge chairs and beds by the pool, as well as chairs on the beach. However, many guests reserve chairs by 8am. Although the hotel says that it forbids reserving chairs, no staff member took any action. Our one-bedroom junior suite (#419) was very spacious, modern, clean and comfortable. There is a well-stocked kitchen, an 8-person dining table, a sitting area big enough for 6 people, 2 TV’s, 2 balconies, and a Jacuzzi. Our balcony had a terrific view of Land’s End. We enjoyed breakfast on the balcony every morning. It really felt like living at home instead of a hotel. Housekeeping does an amazing job at keeping the rooms clean and spends about 1 hour cleaning each room. When the cheapest room is $325 per night (times 150 rooms = $50k per night), management should focus on providing excellent service to the hotel guests instead of attracting more customers. The timeshare talks didn't bother us, as my husband is very adept at handling these situations. However, management not only allow cruise ship passengers (with Cabo Expeditions) to use the facilities during the day, but also sell day-use bracelets to anyone who can afford it. The worst part is that they host weddings and allow them to play loud music in the lobby until 2am. Our room was right above the lobby, and I called 3 times to complain about the noise. Every time they would turn the music down but slowly back up again. If we wanted loud music, we would have stayed at ME instead. I sure hope they received $50k from the wedding because they pissed off $50k worth of hotel guests.

Excellent service

The hotel has great view of “los cabos” but what really is outstanding is the service. Silvia and Lalo at the beach club made our day! Luis the lifeguard was always helpful and aided an elderly guest that felt unwell. An excellent recommendation with a great location and outstanding service!
