Perfect location!
Jan 27 2019
This was our 3rd time visiting PV in January and of the resorts we’ve been to, this was by far our favorite location. Loved looking out the front door of the lobby and seeing “real” town. So easy to walk to the Malecon and all over town. Hard to pry yourself off the beautiful beach chairs at the hotel, but was great to be able to walk offsite if you wanted to. Wonderful staff. Nelson was such a great bartender. Buffet had all you could hold want. When can I go back?

Timeshare sharks

Be cautious of the staff suckering you in to attend the meeting for the timeshare. The pester you so much that we gave in. Well huge mistake! I was so upset! The guy had a attitude with me when I told him no at the end. So just avoid this completely.

When the front desk was asked any question, a group huddle would occur with all the front desk staff in the back room and then told to come back the next day to see the supervisor at a specific time. When we reported near that time, the same process happened and when we identified that, a resolution to the inquiry was presented but it appeared as though the strategy was to avoid providing an initial response so that we would not return.

Poor management
Jul 13 2016
The hotel needs a lot of TLC! The employees are not that friendly, if you don't speak Spanish you get waited on last. My sliding door wouldn't lock, they fix it but it was broke again the next day. The pools were dirty. Dirty dishes were around the pools constantly. Food in buffet was always just luke warm and had no flavor. I spoke to other people and they were very upset with the resort. Overall, not a very good experience for it being my first time to PVR. I would not recommend this resort to clients. I had issues with Alaska Airlines. I had a bag with 3 bottles of Tequila, all in bubble wrap and the bag had a very large label on it that said FRAGILE, but they broke my bottle and ruined my bag. Not very impressed with this trip!

The first room they gave us unacceptable. Move to a different room which was better but the beds were extremely hard! Very noisy in the hallways had to complain to the front desk on 3 different occasions. As for the food breakfast and lunch were pretty good and dinner buffet was a little below average. The pool deck, pools and beach front were excellent. The hotel location was no more than a 5 min. walk to the downtown area was an added bonus.

Poor rooms, good beach
Feb 12 2016
The hotel has outdated poor quality rooms. Water pressure in the shower is very poor. Concierge was outstanding, front desk staff very good. Food quality was ok; nothing special. Many employees in the restaurant, but not all, just didn't seem like they were motivated or cared. Hotel location is good, and beach area is fine. Maid service was also very good. I will probably not stay at this hotel again

We were super impressed with the Buenaventura resort, excellent staff, delicious food, and location that boasted a great beach and a very close walk to town. Only downfall was there was no volleyball while we were there.....but all in all a great trip! Was our first all inclusive experience and it was a good one!

Terrific staff, great location but disappointed by internet and maintenance issues
Mar 15 2014
Very attentive staff in the restaurants. Good location near downtown and blocks from the Malacon. Wifi was advertised as included but rarely available. Maintenance issues included patio door that was very difficult to open, cracked vanity in bathroom, and mildew looking stiains on the floor. No hotel details provided at check in. They provide them in the 930 meeting the following am. Had to ask for a lock for the room safe two times. Food was ok but variety was lacking as was some quality (chicken was only thigh and legs). Only experienced one show as

It was our fifth and worst stay. Their membership signup staff said new management. Is that the reason that best staff from previous trips are now gone? Too loud of music until 1 am for a resort wedding but in general good staff

We booked with westjet vacations. Good stuff: staff are friendly and kind, rooms are ok, stocked with water beer and pop each day. Clean rooms and we were able to get an extra cot in the room. We were very close to the pool which was very convenient, but loud in the evenings. There are only 2 main restaurants, and we didn’t eat in the 3rd fancy one. Our kids loved the options at the buffet and surprisingly wanted to eat there every night. The breakfast options were excellent with lots of fresh fruit and an egg/omelette station. The location, close the malecon is really handy so we walked there almost every day. The beach and pools were not overly busy and we could usually find a seat if we wanted one. Activity staff were great and not pushy. The poolside and beachside service was really appreciated and the service was quick and friendly. We rented bikes one day (provided for free from the hotel). We had two dinners outside the restaurant in old town to mix it up a bit. We felt very safe in the hotel and in the part of town that the hotel is located. Stuff not as great: the rooms were musty smelling but we are used to this and know that many tropical hotels have this odour. We chose a room that had an inside view thinking that the street would be noisier but we were wrong. The inside rooms meant that we had to hear the bar patrons and evening entertainment every night, and sometimes this went past midnight (especially the yelly/hollering drunk tourists staying at the hotel). The pool has several hundreds of cracked or broken small tiles, this wouldn’t normally matter to me but my daughter cut her foot twice on the tiles and one cut was quite deep. Others experienced this as well. Interestingly, the beach is an ever changing landscape and for many of the days the beach was very rocky and not walkable. There wasn’t a single day that the surf was safe, so the red flags meant no ocean swimming whatsoever. We went in to old PV to swim in the ocean. The beds were small but more comfortable than other Mexican hotels that we have stayed at. We would probably come again as the price and location made it reasonable.

Great location. Great Staff.

We liked that we could walk to the Malecon and enjoy all the little shops along the way.. It was just a short taxi ride back to the hotel when we were too tired to walk back. I enjoyed the food and especially the omelettes made to order while you waited. I wished that our room had a balcony so that we could sit and read a bit. There did not seem to be many quiet places to sit outside and read. The pools were nice but too deep for an older short non swimmer like me. A shallower place for older folks to sit in and enjoy your lovely pool would be great. The staff is friendly and helpful and worked hard to make our vacation an enjoyable experience. Thank you to great folks at Buenaventura Grand Hotel.

Week 1 of 2
Tue Apr 09 10:24:32 EDT 2019
Week 1 of 2 over, was here last year and are back. Some changes of note, they have "membership" now, not a timeshare, not sure what the difference really is. The wifi is off the chart bad this week so far. Food is ok for an all inclusive, where this resort shines is location, a short walk to the Malecon and lots of options for food etc. Staff also has some real jams here, great service and smiles from 90%, and the pool is good. Had a wow moment when a turtle laid her eggs on the beach close to us, the staff protected the area while she was there and did not allow pictures, then called a reserve nearby that came and moved the eggs to a safe place, very cool

Surprise trip booked by my husband and he did gets A++. 12 days in a king room overlooking the beach and small park to the north! Quiet, clean, and friendly. The staff was absolutely a bonus. They went out of their way to greet you and make your stay a pleasure. We met the General Manager(Elda) and Operation Manager (Christina), as they worked side by side with the staff. I watched a gentleman (supervisor?) greet each employee as they entered a side door one morning for work! They employee seem happy to be there. The pool, beach, dinning room, lobby, and guest rooms were not fancy, but clean and very comfortable. The other guest were fun and respectful. We will be back next year! We can't say enough good things about this property! We came to run the marathon and would recommend this property for other runners. Great selection of healthy food, 5 min taxi, 10 min bus ride, 3 km warm up run to the marina, spa for massage and Jacuzzi recovery. Guests: Do the Savia dinner boat trip! Outstanding! Walk the streets and see the malecon' is a must. 2 things for thought for hotel.... Concierge could have events of area listed and know more about area for first timers. example... post office, and bus depot ... we saw lots of area looking. Hotel should have stamps and post box. The "black band" membership people are NOT needed at this resort... your actions sell your property. No perks needed. Thank you!
