Timeshare sharks

Be cautious of the staff suckering you in to attend the meeting for the timeshare. The pester you so much that we gave in. Well huge mistake! I was so upset! The guy had a attitude with me when I told him no at the end. So just avoid this completely.

When the front desk was asked any question, a group huddle would occur with all the front desk staff in the back room and then told to come back the next day to see the supervisor at a specific time. When we reported near that time, the same process happened and when we identified that, a resolution to the inquiry was presented but it appeared as though the strategy was to avoid providing an initial response so that we would not return.

Poor management
Jul 13 2016
The hotel needs a lot of TLC! The employees are not that friendly, if you don't speak Spanish you get waited on last. My sliding door wouldn't lock, they fix it but it was broke again the next day. The pools were dirty. Dirty dishes were around the pools constantly. Food in buffet was always just luke warm and had no flavor. I spoke to other people and they were very upset with the resort. Overall, not a very good experience for it being my first time to PVR. I would not recommend this resort to clients. I had issues with Alaska Airlines. I had a bag with 3 bottles of Tequila, all in bubble wrap and the bag had a very large label on it that said FRAGILE, but they broke my bottle and ruined my bag. Not very impressed with this trip!

The first room they gave us unacceptable. Move to a different room which was better but the beds were extremely hard! Very noisy in the hallways had to complain to the front desk on 3 different occasions. As for the food breakfast and lunch were pretty good and dinner buffet was a little below average. The pool deck, pools and beach front were excellent. The hotel location was no more than a 5 min. walk to the downtown area was an added bonus.

Poor rooms, good beach

The hotel has outdated poor quality rooms. Water pressure in the shower is very poor. Concierge was outstanding, front desk staff very good. Food quality was ok; nothing special. Many employees in the restaurant, but not all, just didn't seem like they were motivated or cared. Hotel location is good, and beach area is fine. Maid service was also very good. I will probably not stay at this hotel again

We were super impressed with the Buenaventura resort, excellent staff, delicious food, and location that boasted a great beach and a very close walk to town. Only downfall was there was no volleyball while we were there.....but all in all a great trip! Was our first all inclusive experience and it was a good one!

Terrific staff, great location but disappointed by internet and maintenance issues
Mar 15 2014
Very attentive staff in the restaurants. Good location near downtown and blocks from the Malacon. Wifi was advertised as included but rarely available. Maintenance issues included patio door that was very difficult to open, cracked vanity in bathroom, and mildew looking stiains on the floor. No hotel details provided at check in. They provide them in the 930 meeting the following am. Had to ask for a lock for the room safe two times. Food was ok but variety was lacking as was some quality (chicken was only thigh and legs). Only experienced one show as

Not Happy

The room was over the kitchen with a view of parked cars. It was noisy we slept with ear plugs. We were told the hotel was 100 % booked so we did not request another room. We are repeat guests but that did not mean anything.

We have traveled to the East coast of Mexico over 10 times and decided to check out the Pacific side for a change. Big disappointment! Our arrival in Puerta Vallarta was actually a pleasant surprise and very quick and efficient in comparison to Cancun. We knew enough not to get suckered into stopping inside the airport by any of the hawkers. Our transportation was on site as soon as we exited, but they wanted to put us in a "van" with other tourists even though we had paid for private. Nevertheless, that was quickly sorted out and our driver "Juan" was very polite and informative about the city. Our check-in was easy, but we were then escorted to another desk and provided with info about the restaurants, tours and finally "the hook" trying to get us to sign up for a presentation about the next door adults only resort. Since we expressed our disinterest and the fact we just wanted to get on with our vacation we were turned over to Coco, the "closer" who we found to be extremely rude when we kept saying "NO"! We finally just walked away. Lunch in the buffet was only fair, but Ricardo and Claudia were polite and engaging. Finally arriving at our room was more of a let-down. Even though the room was clean, it wasn't what we are used to. To say it was adequate, with its very dated bathroom is putting it mildly. The view was better than expected and we did well to secure a room on the fourth floor since the pools were directly below us and the noise level could be heard with the balcony door closed. Having said all that, we found the staff to be very friendly and more than anxious to make sure we were well taken care of (tipping is appreciated and we were aware that many of the local "families" did not tip). The food was so-so, but well presented and plated. The entertainment was poor, the adult pool was non-existent, the beach, with it's continuing flow of venders and rocky entrance were a big disappointment. One thing to beware of, the plastic cups used at the pool bars are "washed" and I use the term skeptically, without soap or hot water. All the people we encountered had a dose of "Montezuma's revenge, that lasted throughout the trip! In all of the 10+ times we've been to Mexico, this was the first time, so beware! All-in-all very disappointing.

An amazing place to vacation!

Our trip to Buenaventura Grand Hotel was everything we imagined and more! The food was excellent, the staff was very friendly, the activities offered were great fun, and the facility was perfect! I will miss the adult pool lounge...until my next visit anyway. Maybe it was the time we visited (July), but we really felt like we were able to experience the real Mexico. We have been to Cancun many times and were always surrounded by other Americans, Canadians, etc... In Puerto Vallarta, we met so many different people from all over, but especially Mexicans enjoying their summer vacations. There was no doubt we were in Mexico. I wished I could speak Spanish. We loved how safe we felt here. It was so nice to be able to explore old town Puerto Vallarta by taking a quick walk from the resort. I look forward to returning!

It's going down, too bad, but noticeably

Third year there, and besides the pool area staff, this hotel is declining. Rooms extremely dated, zero accountability for over serving obviously drunk young adults as they need to be carried away while security laughs. Breakfast is always good, dinner is awful, wait let me say it again awful, but don't worry it won't stay in you long. Adults pool always have kids. Check out is a joke, if you can get a late check out it doesn't include your room, but front desk doesn't care, no thank you for stay with us, or wishes for you to come back. Hallways are dirty, and screaming kids/babies are constant. Location is good, but eventually that wears out, and then you will realize that Buenaventura is old worn out and the employees are just going thru the motions.

This experience was way below our expectations. We became bored with the “fixed menu”each night at the restaurant overlooking the ocean. The buffet was good for breakfast but not any other meals. There was not enough dining variety for an all-inclusive resort. There were not enough adult swimming areas. All in all - was disappointed. The one highlight was the staff. Everyone we encountered were friendly and efficient with no exceptions.
