Timeshare sharks

Be cautious of the staff suckering you in to attend the meeting for the timeshare. The pester you so much that we gave in. Well huge mistake! I was so upset! The guy had a attitude with me when I told him no at the end. So just avoid this completely.

When the front desk was asked any question, a group huddle would occur with all the front desk staff in the back room and then told to come back the next day to see the supervisor at a specific time. When we reported near that time, the same process happened and when we identified that, a resolution to the inquiry was presented but it appeared as though the strategy was to avoid providing an initial response so that we would not return.

Poor management

The hotel needs a lot of TLC! The employees are not that friendly, if you don't speak Spanish you get waited on last. My sliding door wouldn't lock, they fix it but it was broke again the next day. The pools were dirty. Dirty dishes were around the pools constantly. Food in buffet was always just luke warm and had no flavor. I spoke to other people and they were very upset with the resort. Overall, not a very good experience for it being my first time to PVR. I would not recommend this resort to clients. I had issues with Alaska Airlines. I had a bag with 3 bottles of Tequila, all in bubble wrap and the bag had a very large label on it that said FRAGILE, but they broke my bottle and ruined my bag. Not very impressed with this trip!

The first room they gave us unacceptable. Move to a different room which was better but the beds were extremely hard! Very noisy in the hallways had to complain to the front desk on 3 different occasions. As for the food breakfast and lunch were pretty good and dinner buffet was a little below average. The pool deck, pools and beach front were excellent. The hotel location was no more than a 5 min. walk to the downtown area was an added bonus.

Poor rooms, good beach

The hotel has outdated poor quality rooms. Water pressure in the shower is very poor. Concierge was outstanding, front desk staff very good. Food quality was ok; nothing special. Many employees in the restaurant, but not all, just didn't seem like they were motivated or cared. Hotel location is good, and beach area is fine. Maid service was also very good. I will probably not stay at this hotel again

We were super impressed with the Buenaventura resort, excellent staff, delicious food, and location that boasted a great beach and a very close walk to town. Only downfall was there was no volleyball while we were there.....but all in all a great trip! Was our first all inclusive experience and it was a good one!

Terrific staff, great location but disappointed by internet and maintenance issues
Mar 15 2014
Very attentive staff in the restaurants. Good location near downtown and blocks from the Malacon. Wifi was advertised as included but rarely available. Maintenance issues included patio door that was very difficult to open, cracked vanity in bathroom, and mildew looking stiains on the floor. No hotel details provided at check in. They provide them in the 930 meeting the following am. Had to ask for a lock for the room safe two times. Food was ok but variety was lacking as was some quality (chicken was only thigh and legs). Only experienced one show as

Not Happy

The room was over the kitchen with a view of parked cars. It was noisy we slept with ear plugs. We were told the hotel was 100 % booked so we did not request another room. We are repeat guests but that did not mean anything.

We visited the Buenaventura Grand in mid-November and had a great time until we were forced to move. We did get a room with no balcony to begin with but they honored our request to move to a room with outdoor space. The rooms are small but large enough for our needs. The pools are great and the beach is beautiful. The waiters on the beach are amazing and the food was delicious. We did not spend any time hungry or thirsty!! However, due to some sort of electrical grid problem with just a couple of days left in our week's vacation, they moved everyone from the entire hotel to different places all over PV. We ended up wasting almost an entire day of our vacation packing up and moving and getting settled at a new place that was not nearly as nice or friendly as the Buenaventura. It was a case of bad timing and bad luck and, hopefully, will never happen again. We would love to return to this resort.

The staff at the Buenaventura are the finest that I have ever encountered on any of my trips. Your organization should be proud of how well they represent you. I just hope you finish all remodeling and improvements before I return in November of 2019.

Another amazing stay at the Buenaventura Grand

My partner and I stayed at the Buenaventura November of 2017 and had such a great experience that we booked again this November. We had upgraded to a honeymoon suite when we were at the hotel in 2017 and we were hoping to do the same this year. I contacted the reservations department via e-mail to try to arrange for the upgrade to a honeymoon suite and I received a prompt e-mail back from José Garcia. José was so great to work with. He made sure that we got a honeymoon suite and he even looked up our stay from the previous year and he made sure we got the exact room we had enjoyed the previous year! We had the pleasure of meeting José in person once we arrived to the hotel last month. He was such a gracious and lovely man - can't say enough about the excellent service he gave us. I have to say that all of the staff at the hotel are great. This hotel is smaller and has a wonderful location; very close to the Malecon and only a half hour walk into Old Town. We could hear the sound of the waves from our hotel room - so great! We would highly recommend this hotel!

We booked this hotel because it’s less than a ten minute walk to the malecon. We were not disappointed. They do try to book you into a time share presentation when you arrive, Just say no. Thank them and walk away. We booked a honeymoon suite to ensure we had a balcony overlooking the ocean. Not all rooms have balconies. The hotel is small and friendly with wonderful staff and excellent service. The pools are small and heated so you’re not freezing. There is pool and beach service. It’s informal and I loved that we could always eat outside. We didn’t try the restaurant that requires a reservation, preferring to eat where we could hear the ocean and enjoy the evening air. The food was surprisingly good but the food in the buffet needs to be kept hotter. I know it isn’t easy. They’re always refreshing it. The wifi worked great in the lobby and by the pool. It was frustratingly slow in our room but worked fairly well on the balcony. “Fair” being the key word; it needs to be better. Don’t call to say it isn’t working, they’ll tell you they’re working on it. But there’s a good barista at the lobby bar if you like specialty coffees (where the wifi works great) and quiet entertainment in the evening. We would have preferred quiet time by the pool but as someone wrote you can’t get away from the entertainment. Bingo when you’d prefer a quiet lunch by the pool, movie trivia... it’s so loud. Quiet Latino music would be so much nicer. We appreciated that we could walk downtown... no cabs needed... and went on just one tequila tasting tour which we’d done before. Our Air Canada rep assured us it wasn’t the same one even when I was showing him pictures but that’s the Air Canada Rep being dishonest and not the hotel’s fault. We’d stay there again. The hotel is spotless and they have great staff. 3 star hotel but 4 star service once you get past the desk clerk telling you your room will be ready in just ten minutes ... have a drink and let the staff tell you about the amenities. As someone wrote Just say no. That’s not his fault either, he’s just following orders. Go and enjoy. And don’t forget to tip. Their staff are great and work so hard. Enjoy the sunsets in the Bay of Banderas!

A couples vacation. We ended up in Puerto Vallarta we were originally scheduled to go to Cabo San Lucas the location and staff were great but our room was extremely moldy and it caused me nasal and breathing problems so I couldn't sleep at night.
