Nice trip...could use some intervention
CYNTHIA B.

Apple made sure that our transfers were timely and very professional. However we had upgraded so that we would have private check in...we were met with people saying that they would take care of everything and then we found out they were only trying to get us to sign up for a time share or as they put it a vacation packaging. We did not get to eat at all the dining options due to thinking that the "circleone " people were taking care of us. By the time we got reservations most of the options were full for the whole week. I would recommend this resort, but would advise to go directly to the concierge upon arrival to arrange your dining. Other than that our week was filled with lots of fun and relaxation (which is what we were looking for).

Nice Christmas holiday!

We are a couple in our late 50's travelling to DR for our 3rd Xmas week holiday-first time to this resort. We both had a great time, and were impressed with the food/drinks, staff, and especially the dinner/live music/entertainment for Christmas. We "upgraded" when purchasing our Transat trip online to the best level offered (gold). The benefit was to have unlimited specialty restaurants ...which we took advantage of and thouroughly enjoyed every night for dinner (except Xmas eve gala) and 15% off spa (we had a couples massage which was excellent) and "preferred deck" with Bali beds at beach which was nice (although there were plenty of options for everyone at beach. Other "extra" details-we had to ask for...and never got turn-down. The room was not well located (ground level, back of building #1)...but was a quiet so we decided to stay. Small awkward bathroom, large room--but seriously lacking in storage (no dresser...& tiny closet has safe so you have no full length hanging space-we could not unpack our suitcases. Comfy king bed..ok linens...AC great (could have used a blanket on the bed). Bleach smell in room after being cleaned daily. This resort is small so walking distance to everything is not an issue. I loved the beach (very clean) because the water is calm...easy flat entry and no large waves rolling in...so you can swim/float. Property needs a little updating (tiles in and around pools, for instance) but was was tidy and attractive. Very friendly staff and other vacationers. We both agreed that our experience was very positive and we would consider returning next year.

Very friendly staff

The staff is really doing everything to making you feel comfortable, always attentive and helpful. The food in the main restaurant is very good compared to most all-inclusive resorts. You don't find the same variety as in the larger hotels, f ex in the RUI-chain, but everyting is well cooked, Never-the-less, I experienced severe problem with diarheea (my wife didn't). I didn't eat anything outside the hotel so the reason must be found in the hotel. The refrigerator is only filled up with water. You also get two bottles of bear and two bottles of soda, but only once. The room, especially the bath room, was somewhat dated but fully functional. Also the floor tiling in the pool area could need some renovation. If you are aiming for 5 stars maybe you should choose another hotel. The wifi is quite expensive: 60 USD per week, or 25 USD for 25 hours. The price is per device (!). We had free wifi in the lobby through our travel agency (Apollo in Sweden), which sometimes worked perfect and sometimes not at all... We didn't think too much of the fact that the hotel is for adults only - until we got to the airport and notice all the noicy children who was screaming and running about. For people without children an adults only hotel is definitely a treat...

My spouse and I have come back for the third time to this adults only resort - so I guess we must like it! Pro’s: small but has good amenities. Rooms recently updated and even though we wanted a Villa we are happy with our room. Large comfy bed with lots of pillows and mini fridge to keep some 🥂! Con’s: we got suckered into a membership 8 years ago and have trouble booking unless we try a year in advance! And even then it is not easy as they often drop your call and do not reply to voicemail - another RCI company fail. We do like the staff and the food here is pretty good for all inclusive fare! Even our Low Carb Hi fat way of eating is possible though cheating is very easy particularly when it comes to the ice cream! Yummy! Seafood restaurant is pretty amazing, and tomorrow Lobster Festival is sounding pretty awesome! Do try the resort, but avoid the timeshare sharks - not worth it IMO!

Resort was nice, food was not good.

A large group of us stayed at the resort from December 29th to January 5th. We had rooms in block 2, 3, 5 & 6. Overall, all the rooms were comfortable. Showers lacked pressure and often hot water. AC worked well. Some rooms it didn't turn off. Everything was close by... Rooms, restaurants, beach, etc. It was nice to be within walking distance for everything. Staff were friendly and attentive. Entertainment was ok most nights. New Year's as a great party. Food, however, was not good. Of the 10 people in our group, 9 of us got gastro issues at some point on the trip. Another group of 9 that we met on the trip had similar experiences with food. Everything was bland. New Year's buffet looked great, but wasn't too good. Lobster was mushy. Food at Beach Bar seemed to be sitting for long periods of time. Even the french fries were difficult to get down. Two days after getting home, some of us are still feeling it. House wine was not good either. Tasted like rubbing alcohol. Asian Fusion a la carte was quite good... BBQ not so much. Wifi was very expensive. However, I did love the pool and the swim up bar. There was always beds at the beach and poolside and always seats at the restaurant. New years was definitely amazing.

Staff with a great attitude

The genuine friendliness, happy smiles and a desire to be helpful from staff members across the board was the first thing that impressed me. The leadership shown by the resident manager, a lovely lady named Inés Pichardo, works wonders and obviously motivates the team to an excellent level of performance. I do, however, have two little disappointments to mention. The first is about how rain penetrates into some accommodation during particularly heavy rainfall; a lot of my clothing was soaked in the wardrobe/closet when water seeped from above. It would appear not the first time in this unit because the paintwork was blistered from earlier soakings. Guest services offered to put my wet clothes in the laundry drier and place a bottle of rum and basket of fruit in the room by way of apology. Strange these events seem to be regular occurrences, and no indication of any maintenance work to prevent them. The second disappointment has been mentioned in countless reviews, not surprisingly; the ridiculously expensive Wi-Fi. In the 21st century in a quality hotel it should be free! I refused to pay and just walked to the shopping plaza a few minutes away and used free WI-Fi available in a couple of businesses there.
