Nice trip...could use some intervention

Apple made sure that our transfers were timely and very professional. However we had upgraded so that we would have private check in...we were met with people saying that they would take care of everything and then we found out they were only trying to get us to sign up for a time share or as they put it a vacation packaging. We did not get to eat at all the dining options due to thinking that the "circleone " people were taking care of us. By the time we got reservations most of the options were full for the whole week. I would recommend this resort, but would advise to go directly to the concierge upon arrival to arrange your dining. Other than that our week was filled with lots of fun and relaxation (which is what we were looking for).

Well this was our 3rd year in a row at the resort and by far our worst!! Arrival was fine and got our rooms pretty quick although our friends changed theirs from 3rd floor to ground floor just because of stairs, the rooms are basic only change from previous years was a throw over the bed (rooms need updating). Pool area needs a major refit, tiles both in pool and surrounding area need replaced!! Restaurant was a hit and miss..choice was not as good as previous years. Had issues at the Animation bar when they ran out of vodka and sprite/7up for 4 days not good at all!! this was resolved by the TUI rep and we were given a refund on using our own duty free. The beach still needs work by giving it a good clean!! A shout out to some staff who really helped in making our holiday... Maria, Lorrelie and the guy training ( sorry didnt get name) Antonio and Elwin in the restaurant and Santos. Dont think we will be going back even if it got renovated as TUI are only flying to Punta Cana as of next season.

Not all that it's cracked up to be!!!

The food was very hit or miss and at times, HORRIBLE. The drinks were beyond weak. I never felt tipsy. There was also no variety in drink offers. The only frozen drinks were pina coladas. They could try to blend something with ice in the blender but only if they miraculously understood you. The only staff that spoke decent English was the front desk staff that took care of your intake. Everyone else on the grounds or in the dining areas or at the bars had little to no English and it made it hard to request anything so you just went without sometimes. Initially, the service was great and staff were friendly (as we were coming into the resort and before the time share pitch, which was totally unexpected. We were approached about the possibility of booking "a tour" as soon as we walked in and we agreed to check it out the next day in case we wanted to do a catamaran cruise or something which was what they mentioned at that time so we thought it was great that we can arrange an excursions directly with the hotel. It turns out that they wanted us to join their time share program called "circle one" which may be a great option for some people but not us,). They (the staff person who was on a mission to get us to visit their time share office, which again I originally thought was gonna be a stand to book excursions on the beach) stalked us before and after we came out from eating breakfast at the buffet and wasted over an hour of our time trying to woo us with this discussion until we cut it short so we could hurry to the beach. After we turned this offer down, the staff weren't nearly as friendly. Now the grounds were mostly nice with the exception of dirty linen on the cabanas, patchy paint in the rooms, cracked tiles on the pool deck, and counters in the buffet hall and tiles falling off the wall and you stepping on them actually in the pool. They didn't readily have anyone to deal with any cleanups in the pool either so 2 days in a row, we had to avoid certain sections because "someone spilled a drink inside" as a large thick white bubbly film that actually looked like vomit, swam around the pool surrounding people and gathering onto everyone's swimsuits. When assistance was requested, the response was that the pool cleaner wasn't there anymore. Back to food and drinks. Don't expect any authentic Dominican food. It seems they were focused on "American-izing" the menu and they offered items that they didn't do/prepare well. Everyone complained about the food. The bottom shelf liquor that was all that was available in the all inclusive bars, were way worse than normal bottom shelf. There is a premium/for pay bar that is overpriced (20$ for a shot of a black label scotch). You have to pay a 3$ nightly fee to use the safe in your room. They also only give you one room key which they admit is so you can't run the AC while you are gone to cool your room down ahead of time. The air conditioner is very very very VERY weak. The wifi isn't free and is very expensive in fact. It was 60$ per day and like a dollar per minute at lesser time frames. I wouldn't return. Another common complaint was the harrassment on the beach by solicitors. It's extreme and you can't relax. Expect 10 or more approaches per hour. We counted 12. They also allow some of them to set up on the grounds of the hotel on some nights to sell stuff to the guests. I heard people say how disgusted they were with this given how much we pay to be secluded in an adults only resort. It's not 4 stars to me and it needs to be touched up here and there. I know its expensive to up keep a resort like this but they could touch up some of the smaller things on a more consistent basis.

Good for a first all inclusive experiwnce

So this would be my first time both in the Caribbean and to an all inclusive. I had a great experience for the most part. The resort was nice and well kept, our rooms were clean and the staff were very friendly. We took advantage of the buffet dining on several occasions and would always manage to find something we liked to eat or something new to try. The a la carte were good large Portions, but the food was similar enough to the buffet that you could (if you wanted) just continue to eat at the buffet and be fine. We ended up going on a few day trips with various organizations that were a lot of fun and if possible I will review them separately. There are a few negatives to the trip, 1. The pressure sales tactics for time shares were a bit much i think. And secondly beach security did nothing to stop sales vendor people from hounding you all day long while down there. Definitely gets obnoxious having to tell the same person 50 times you don’t want the (junk item of choice). Beyond that the beaches were very nice, long walks with gorgeous sunrises. We have discussed returning here and May after we try some other resorts
