Needs upgrades, too many kids, mediocre food, HVAC issues, moldy smell in room... shall I continue?
We're a pair of friends who travel together at least annually. This resort is in need of maintenance/updates and especially better food. Every restaurant on property was mediocre and it's not in an area where you're going to leave to go to the next town over for more upscale options. We'd see the previous night's leftovers from dinner on the breakfast buffet, the 'sushi' restaurant is NOT a sushi restaurant, and nobody on the property seems to be able to cook beef. We went with much higher expectations of a Hyatt property and were disappointed - and in conversations with other guests, found many having the same experience. Also (our bad) this is a very family-friendly resort. If you want constant music at the pool and shrieking kids in the hallways and at restaurants, this is for you, but we've learned our lesson (and we both LOVE kids) - next time it'll be an adult-only resort. If you go, do NOT accept the offer to go to their 'sister' property (Secrets) for the (excellent) breakfast and "90-minute" walk around that resort. We were attacked by 4 different used car salesmen (in temperment) who tried to sell us the 2026 version of a time share (their 'vacation club' or whatever it's called. It wasn't until we stopped being polite and told them we wanted to get back to our resort to start our vacation that they finally let us go - and we still had to 'chat' with 2 other salesmen before they called our cab. TERRIBLE experience and not worth the $ they offered towards an excursion later in the week. There's so much more but I'm not sure it's worth repeating it here as there will be a canned reply - just know it's not all as advertised. We were definitely disappointed.

Nice hotel
Room was very nice, employees were friendly and helpful, the hotel was very clean, service was fantastic, the trip was a good value, the beach is a man made lagoon but it is better the the rocky areas around the hotel.

A wonderful place to chill and be pampered for a week
The hotel is about 1.5 hours from the Cancun airport and situated within a gated community - Puerta Aventuras, not the real Mexico. The hotel beach is OK as it is protected by breakwaters and the sand is a bit coarse. There is a nicer, but still protected, public beach within a 10 minute walk. The hotel is not too big and the rooms are clean, spacious and nicely decorated. The food offerings are astonishingly good and the hotel offers Mexican, Asian, Grill (Steakhouse), snack (beach), thematic buffet and Seafood restaurants. The latter is only accessible to the "Preferred" guests for an upgrade. The latter is worth it as you get customized check-in, access to a quiet pool, better quality drinks, a marina-view/quiet room and a private lounge. The staff is amazing and responsive to your every needs. Kudos to Itzayana who made my visit particularly pleasant with her good humor and helping me improve my Spanish. Unfortunately, the pickleball court was under repair and we only got to play 3 out of 6 days. On the other, we found out, too late, that there are 4 nice pickleball courts at the public park within Puerta Aventuras.

Fabulous stay!
I chose this hotel because I had been to other Dreams resorts in Europe. We stayed in a Preferred Club room facing the marina. Our room was modern, bright and clean. We tried all the restaurants in the resort several times, including the buffet, and found the food to be good. The service was excellent especially Ella in the Oceana restaurant at breakfast. She got to know us and really anticipated our needs. We used the Preferred pool which was excellent. Erick the pool concierge was amazing! The beach area was also fab, and had a small area for Preferred guests only. Bar and food service at both pool and beach area was great. The Preferred club room was located on the ground floor and was a little disappointing. At previous Dreams resorts in Europe it was on a high floor with spectacular views and was a lovely sociable space to relax with other guests. However, here it was always cool and an alternative for food and drink. Armado the barman is a character! He makes the best Paloma! For us it was the staff who make this hotel stand out. Henry, Natali, Erick, Ella and Paulina especially. If I had one small issue it would be that I wished there was a corner of the hotel that was child free. One bar or restaurant without children would have been the icing on the cake! However, I could have chosen an adult only hotel. This one seems very family orientated. Another small issue during our stay was that the resort hosts a lot of weddings. We used the Barracuda bar in the early evening and several times we were told we had to leave as it was only open for the wedding party! I felt this was unreasonable and an area exclusively for wedding parties would be better rather than upsetting the 'Preferred' guests. The situation was brought to the attention of Henry the head concierge who assured us the bar was a shared space. Overall the resort is a little tired round the edges but has a great atmosphere, fantastic staff and represents good value for money.
