    Lovely hotel , lovely staff

Lovely hotel, room was spacious and clean, cleaners were exceptional. Plenty of places to eat and drink, had to queue for some of the restaurant but a good system of allocating buzzers so you go and have a drink whilst waiting. Lovely coffee bars where you get a proper latte. Location spectacular, right on the beach. We struggled to get money out but went to the on site casino and they helped us with this. Lovely attentive staff, the server in the sports bar and Jimena in Coca 2 coffee bar we our favourites

    Great service

Food was meh, but Olga, our server, was amazing. Attentive, unobtrusive, and there when we wanted her.

A great one week getaway in Punta Canada.

Loved it. We had two different rooms in two areas as we had an issue with the A/C in our first room so the where quick to get us a new room within a day after we place our complaint. This new room was in the upgraded side of the resort which was a nice touch on the hotels part. The food was good at the A la Carte restaurants and we went for breakfast everyday at the Bluewater which I don’t believe is advertised as even being open at that time of day. It was very nice compared to the buffets. One thing I did not like was having to get up early to place a towel so you could have a seat at the beach or pool as people where leaving towels on the chairs but not even at them the whole day. And yes they did have a little seaweed but there isn’t much you can do about Mother Nature. Loved the small coffee shops and higher end drinks available as well. Don’t let the bad reviews get to ya. We have travelled in the DR for years now and this resort is a good value.

    Sensational but needs some upgrades

Overview The resort attracts people of all ages. If you’re looking for a resort that has a great entertainment package then this is the hotel for you. When we arrived it was late evening. After going to our room we wanted to shower and change into fresh clothes. We waited hours for our suitcases to arrive. When I went down to the room where our suitcases was taken I saw our suitcases were outside a nearly empty room and the staff had no idea where to take them. Had I not gone down and told the staff where to take our suitcases who knows when we would have received them. Overall poor communication between staff, namely the person who checked us in and the staff who take suitcases to customers rooms. Also, there is a lot of mixed communication from supervisors and staff. For example, a member of staff at the front desk and a restaurant supervisor told us that at 9:00 everyday we can book the Al a carte restaurants via the app, whilst other staff told us that the app does not work and we have to turn up to restaurants at 18:00 to make a reservation. I can confirm the app does not work for free Al a carte restaurants but does work for the ones you pay for and one free restaurant. Positives Generally staff were friendly, warm, fun and attentive The poolside activities namely water aerobics was 10/10 The hired dancers/singers for the evening entertainment was 8/10 A good amount of pools, bars and restaurants are dotted around the resort A good selection of restaurants mainly à la carte Loved the freshly made crepes for breakfast Oatmilk was available in the buffet restaurant for those who don’t drink dairy milk They have a kids club for 3-11 year olds There is a dedicated kids zone for older children Loved the weekly outdoor film club for kids that had tents, popcorn and drinks - this was led by the amazing explorer club (staff are lovely) The hired saxophonist was brilliant There are a lot of activities at the resort mainly for children aged 3+ and adults The beach parties were good Generally there are a lot of activities to keep guests busy and entertained The poolside activities were fun and the staff were sensational The lobby area is cosy and has a well staffed bar The drinks and snacks in the hotel lobby was a good touch and made it welcoming Great to see that they recycle food waste and plastics The food truck serving burgers and chips was great when you didn’t want to go to the buffet for lunch They have a barbecue on the beach which guests seemed to love The Al a carte restaurant Tierra served nice food and delicious meat Freshly made pizzas at the buffet restaurant was great The ice cream bar in the buffet restaurant was very popular (more spoons please) Loved that they gave out fresh coconuts with the option of adding alcohol A huge shout out to these lovely and hard working members of staff who were extremely professional and delivered a high level of customer service: Zoila Editorma Anleni Negatives No lifts in buildings 4 and 5 No dedicated area for buggies in buildings There was no lift in our building and we were on the first floor so we placed our buggy under the stairs, but it kept getting moved around the ground floor and on our last night we found it soaked in alcohol, we then had to lug it up two flights of stairs to our room to clean it Poor communication between supervisors and general staff (team huddles throughout the day are desperately needed) Staff often go rogue doing their own thing - I think this was down to poor management (team briefs at every opportunity so all staff are up to date and feel confident in communicating with guests) Food was ok The buffet restaurant is big but only had 3 high chairs and there were a lot of babies, so expect to feed your baby in their pram most days and deep clean your pram when you get home “No” was the word I often encountered from staff without them problem solving Hard sell for a timeshare opportunity at the neighbouring hotel was draining (research timeshares as it is a huge scam) The app to book the no extra cost A la carte restaurants doesn’t work so expect long queues from 17:30-18:15 to book a table and possibly an hour to two hour wait for a meal (depends on the length of the queue and how busy the hotel is) Luggage can take hours to arrive at your room Upon arrival, if you request a cot at the hotel it can take two days to arrive (request a cot when booking) the cots are dirty and look like they are from a horror movie. They are in desperate need of a deep clean and a new lick of paint The lady that cleaned our room, loved bleach and got it on two of my clothes (hotel managment asked for receipts and compensated me) Lack of drawers in bedrooms, so expect to live out of your suitcase If you don’t drink dairy milk expect a draining and unnecessary daily back and forth with the coffee shop staff about a non dairy option, they rarely have a cartoon of oat milk and often don’t accommodate by simply getting a carton of oat milk The swimming pools are well used but not well cleaned If you have a small issue and need to talk to a member of staff at reception the queues are really long due to check in and checking out - please have two roaming members of staff walking around reception who can answer basic queries (here to help t-shirt would make them easy for people to spot) There are too many staff in the reception area dedicated to promoting the timeshare opportunity and other paid activities - what about supporting customers with basic queries In the buffet restaurant spoons were hard to find and and went very quickly The air con vents desperately needs cleaning The main light in our room didn’t work - hotel Managment need to check that all the electrics in the rooms are working before booking people into them Poor hygiene at the restaurant - one example is a member of staff used a spoon and her hands to pick up spaghetti and place it in a saucepan, another member of staff took her aside and told her it was wrong but she just shrugged her shoulders Considering there are a lot of children under 3 it would have been nice to have a soft play room for babies with Montessori toys (ball pit, soft play foam climbing toys, wooden activity cube, busy box etc) they are not expensive especially if you buy them second hand and give them a deep clean. Toys would need to be cleaned with non toxic cleaners at the end of each day.
