    Some positives, some misses

Location overlooking park is beautiful and building has plenty of charm. Biggest miss is lack of functioning air conditioning. No effort to improve situation, no willingness to move us to another room. Engineering essentially turned thermostat off and back on and walked away. My general vide was that they could not be bothered. Overall, within the Hilton landscape, this might be a better Curio Collection hotel as just not quite same experiences that I have had from other Waldorf Astoria properties. Serve failures are part of any business, but so is service recovery and they failed in service recovery.

Nicely situated, charmingly decorated, and perfectly maintained

Great hotel. A few things to note when it comes to selecting your room in the Hilton app during online check-in: 1. As a Diamond member, I was upgraded from the Pavilion side (which is much less impressive) to the Palace side. 2. Apparently in traditional French palaces, the lower the floor, the higher the ceilings, as the upper floors were usually for servants of the aristocrats, making floor 2 probably the best balance between the gorgeous floor height and view. 3. Speaking of view, sadly there were no sheep in the park during winter months. 4. I'm a big fan of corner rooms in general and it's no different here. The Versailles side corner rooms with windows on two sides are absolutely beautiful. 202 (garden view - same for other floors) have bigger bathrooms than 201 (park view) and feature separate bath and shower areas. For that reason and given #3, I'd probably recommend 01 rooms slightly more than 02 which I asked for (still appreciate the upgrade though). It's up to personal preference and both will be nice. The service felt very personal and luxury. We had a nice chat with the front desk receptionist and he walked us to our room. The concierge got us 2-day passes for the Versailles Palace and you can bypass the timed entry appointment, which was super convenient especially when your desired slot is sold out. It was quite a pleasant stay!

    What a SHAM!

What a shell shock! I cancelled my reservation due to false advertising and a very eager to fleece you off all excess cash approach. I booked the accommodation way in advance for a special occasion and promise of a luxurious stay - as we are accustomed to. What a disappointment!!! Firstly they could not give us an early check in (we flew in earlier) the charges on the chauffeur pick up from the airport was over double the rates - almost half the charge of a nights stay. As we arrived and entered the Reception area it was run down, I was surprised as to this indicating what awaits us in this over priced establishment. We went and took lunch in town as the Gordon Ramsay restaurant seemed packed with a random tour group desperately eating off a buffet (some sitting on the floor) and there not being adequate seating. Extremely déclassé. When we returned they said that they had our room ready, in another building altogether… I was shocked, I mentioned that this was not what I had booked - only to be told that if I wanted to stay in the main building there would be extra charges. They showed us the other building and a sub standard room in what seemed to be a conferencing facility - this could possibly explain the people from the lunch hunger bustle at Gordon Ramsays’ place… Not exactly what we envisioned! The view was a wall, they showed me the room in the actual building I was advertised when booking - which I would need to pay the higher rate for… It stank of plumbing issues and we would not have been comfortable spending a moment there let alone a few nights. I asked for an immediate cancellation. Thank goodness I found a truly luxurious option that was better suited to our needs and facilitations - this really could have turned out to be an absolute disaster, Shame on you Waldorf Astoria Versailles!!! We were treated well and had all our needs met at our new Hotel and the building much better and the service was five stars. I wanted to try the spa facilities at the Waldorf Astoria as we have a place in one of the best Spa Estates in the world, unfortunately this was not on par, very fake and the staff do not know the first thing about hospitality. Don’t be fooled or mislead, choose better options in Versailles.

    Best place in Versailles!

I cannot imagine a better location to stay at in Versailles. It is literally adjacent to the massive Palace of Versailles estate. The walk to the Palace entry is 10 minutes, but the walk into the large garden area is one minute. The entry gate is literally in front of the hotel. This gives you access into the Grand and Petit Trianon buildings, and the Hamlet. If you plan on seeing all that there is to see on this grand and massive property you really need to stay overnight. We stayed two nights at this hotel and that gave us all the time we needed and the perfect home base to explore all there is to see at Versailles. Even the town of Versailles has interesting sites and great restaurants. In addition to the great location, the accommodations are amazing as you would expect for a Waldrof Astoria. Elegant luxurious rooms. The bathrooms are spacious with heated floors. You almost feel like you were an aristocrat in French society under Louis XV. We only ate breakfast at the restaurant on site. Truly outstanding. So much to choose from. Excellent quality and variety. Service is also exceptional. It really is the best place to stay in Versailles!

    Needs to up its game

While being a wonderfully looking Hotel I feel the Waldorf really needs to up its game at nearly £300 per night I have stayed In equivalent or if not better 3* establishments. We were in the pavilion which you would expect to also have a good view but sadly this was two broken trampolines and a dilapidated children’s swing. In 2024 all hotels should have USB ports in the room or plugs at the side of the bed to enable charging. The hotel offer breakfast in you room yet there is only one chair and desk space. A better use of the sofa space would be a small table and two chairs. Tea, coffee and water were not replenished daily and for the price you would assume this as standard. Lamp was broken at the side of the TV and the bathroom was purely functional but would have expected better for a hotel of this stature. The access to the palace gardens is what you really pay for with this hotel and I what I believe it is surviving on. If you are booking here try to get a palace room rather than a pavilion as it is a glorified conference facility not the hotel as seen in the photos.
