  Fantastic stay and beautiful resort!

  This resort is absolutely beautiful and the service was top notch. We were welcomed at check-in with leis, POG juice, and chocolate, and our luggage was immediately whisked away to our room. Though our room was classified as "garden view", all we had to do was step out onto our lanai for a breathtaking view of the ocean to the side. Our room in building 2 was beautiful and appeared recently renovated. Our lanai provided quick access to the path that leads down to Ulua Beach, and every morning at sunrise we would walk down to the beach to put our feet in the water and watch the beautiful colors of sunrise all around us. The decoration and landscaping of the resort is beautiful and I loved that I could always catch the delicate scent of tropical flowers on the breeze. The entire resort is made of picture-perfect postcard views, especially at sunset. After sunrise every day, we would wander up to the Humble Market Kitchin to start the day with a delicious breakfast buffet (included in the package we booked through American Express) and a POG-mosa. Kapa Bar and Grill had great food and cocktails. The Te Au Moana Luau was fantastic and I can definitely see why it is one of the most highly rated and recommended luaus on the island. We enjoyed all of the pools, except we did not go to Olakino (the one that requires a pricy daybed or cabana rental to access). My favorite was the adults-only infinity pool. Wailea Beach is a quick walk, and though the beach chairs with umbrellas had a wait list that filled up quickly, they also lend out folding chairs to use on the beach while you wait for your turn. The beach can be a bit crowded, and much livelier than Ulua Beach, as there are multiple resorts that have access, but it is still beautiful and fun for a refreshing swim. We even saw a sea turtle in the water that swam right up almost to the shore. (P.S. Don't touch the turtles - it's illegal!) My only very minor struggle was that the WiFi was very spotty and did not seem to work or stay connected most of the time, and our room also seemed like a dead zone for data. I was able to access 5G on my lanai, but that did not reach the inside of our room. Not a big deal when you are there to relax and unwind, but my husband needed to do some occasional work which required internet access and it was a bit of a struggle as the WiFi was constantly dropping. The Shops at Wailea are right behind the resort, a quick and easy walk. This was very convenient as we popped over to Island Gourmet Market multiple times for grab-and-go meals, snacks for the room, gifts, and other convenience items. Overall, we had a fantastic experience here and would definitely stay here again!

  Disappointing service and poor value overall

  Excellent breakfast servers, but disappointing service and poor value overall The breakfast servers were a highlight of our stay, and the proximity to the Shops at Wailea was convenient. Unfortunately, those positives were overshadowed by repeated service shortcomings, limited amenities, and a disappointing lack of follow-through. We booked through American Express Travel, yet staff did not discuss the upgrade benefit or confirm late checkout at check-in. Paid oceanfront villa upgrades were marketed to us separately, without any explanation of whether an upgrade was available under our booking. We understand availability restrictions; we expected clear communication. The handling of late checkout was particularly frustrating. We asked repeatedly over several days, were continually deferred, and were ultimately declined on departure day. Keeping guests waiting for an answer until they are preparing to leave is poor service. Beach access was more limited than expected, and chairs were unavailable when we wanted them. We counted nine beach umbrellas with two chairs each—18 chairs in total. These limitations were not disclosed beforehand. Staff justified the resort fees by citing beach-related amenities, making their limited availability especially difficult to accept. Vegan and vegetarian dining choices were limited. At the children’s pool, only two servers were taking orders and delivering food despite the extensive seating. Almost daily luaus added inconvenience and detracted from the relaxing atmosphere we expected. Staff attention also appeared to favor conference guests, with a noticeable decline in the service we received as vacationing guests. We also found water dripping from the air-conditioning vent in our room, with visible discoloration around the grille and adjacent wall. We documented this in photographs and video. What ultimately defined the stay was the lack of proactive service recovery. We had to keep pursuing assistance, and neither the hotel nor Amex took meaningful ownership of our concerns. As a Marriott Gold member, I found the experience particularly disappointing. The breakfast team deserves recognition, but their efforts could not compensate for the broader shortcomings. Our previous stay at the Andaz in Maui was considerably better. Based on this experience, I would not return to Wailea Beach Resort.

  Nice Resort

  This resort is in an fabulous location and is very nice. There are some beautiful trees on the property. I believe the rooms were recently renovated, but the room was showing some wear. The people are friendly and the food was pretty good. The Wailea shop are a short walk and you can buy food at the Island Gourmet Market that is affordable.

  The best location near the water in Wailea, but, experience not as good as usual

  I have stayed at this hotel for 10 years at least once per year, sometimes twice except 2020. The staff was all wonderful as always. We stayed in a different room than usual and it was in poor shape. It seemed like it was tucked in a far corner in Bldg 7 and no one stays there regularly or no one had done so in quite some time. When we arrived to our room we immediately noticed the safe was not working, the sheer curtains on the main sliding glass door were missing. Strangely enough, the heavier sheet of the shower curtain was also missing. The lanai was filthy. It was near the Luau Area and has the landscape cleaned with blowers. Well, the blowers blow all the dirt all over the lounge chairs and furniture. Most of the time, the grassy area outside our lanai was covered in leaves. I almost went to clean them up myself. I did clean the chairs and sofa and loungers myself and the towels came out absolutely filthy. I reported all this in my review post-stay, but, never received a response. I have usually had very good communication from surveys in the past, but, not this time. For the first time, I am hesitating to book my annual stay at the Wailea Beach Resort. It felt like something had changed at the hotel and not for the better.
