Great family vacation
We stayed for one week from nov 29- Dec 6, with my husband and 2 children (4/10) We were nervous booking here with so many negative reviews but overall it was a great trip- people have to remember you get what you pay for! This is not a 5 star hotel and they don't claim to be. Check in can be a nightmare, as there is only 2-3 people working for a whole plane full of people. They stagger the guests by buses, so if you dont get on the first bus it would be over an hour wait. They have the buffet ready so you can eat and get a drink before getting checked in. If you can take a cab youd be first in line, if we went again we would take a cab. Just be sure to tell your rep as theyre not looking for you. The room was very run down- but I guess you get what you pay for. Please remember this is a 3 star resort so go in with lower expectations. The rooms were as clean as they could be, but definitely needs some upgrading. There was rusty hinges, cracked tiles and grout joint broken along the wall which leaves space for bugs to get in. The food was alright- nothing special but we never went hungry. There is hamburgers, hotdogs, fries and pizza at the pool bar which were great to eat by the beach. We went to all 3 a la carts, as soon as you get your room number log in on the app to book. They book up fast! The entertainment was great!! They had activities all throughout the day my kids loves playing bocce and cornhole. The nightly shows were also great! All the younger kids were able to participate in the lion king show which was very cute. I would suggest that they started the show earlier-9:30pm start time is late for young kids. Or have a mini show/dance party for smaller kids/families. The beach is beautiful! There is so much wild life around- little fish come swim up beside you, and we saw a stingray. If you like to snorkel bring your gear!! The water activities are great as well, free catamaran boat ride, kayaks, paddle boards and boogie boards available at the resort for free! We did the swimming with the pigs at Cleavlands bar- much more affordable than with the resort directly and only a 5 min walk up the beach. That experience was amazing!! My kids loved it, adults are $70 and kids 5+ are 50, so my 4 year old went for free. The resort wanted $110 per person. We also rented a jet ski which was super fun!! Over all I would recommend this resort but again you need to lower expectations. Some tips that made our stay, we brought reusable water bottles as water bottles were not provided, you must pay for them. There is water fountains to fill up. We brought snacks like chips, candy and nuts from home as its very expensive to purchase there. We also brought cat treats! There are so many cats/kittens my kids loves feeding them.

Basic resort, good experience
The property and amenities overall were decent, fairly clean and well laid out. Rooms were quite dingy, moldy curtains, moldy grout in the shower, used a black light in the room and the pillow cases were a horror scene. Thank God the rest of the sheets and comforter were clean, and I always bring a pillow of my own. The staff are very friendly and helpful, all the bartenders seem to love their job they’re happy and very interactive, just a shame the alcohol the hotel provides is the cheapest possible and only Viva Club members get basic brands like Bacardi and Jose Quervo, no premium drinks at all!! The entertainment team was undoubtedly one of the best I’ve ever seen in 20+ resorts I’ve been to. Every night they put on an excellent show, and then they’re working all day with various activities too. Each of them are hard working, happy and talented. 5 stars for entertainment! The food was better than I expected based on other reviews here. Mexican restaurant was only available twice a week so was not able to book that. The Italian restaurant has amazing stone oven pizza at dinner and late at night. Viva cafe was pretty good, had a decent steak, and I could hear the neighbouring table all talk about their different dishes they all enjoyed including the chicken and fish. The buffet did a very good job having a theme every night so there was always something different. Breakfast has everything you could want. Omelettes were very good, however watch out if asking for fried eggs that they’re actually cooked how you want, I got some undercooked over-easy eggs that the whites were still raw, so went back asked for over-well and they were just over-easy. Get your coffee at the bar, the coffee in the buffet was God awful. The bar makes nice cappuccino, latte and espresso. Don't book excursions with Nexus, they’re over priced, the cheapest was the city tour and absolutely not worth it. I have to say the driver did as good a job as possible, however you’re not seeing anything interesting at all, and then they bring you to a market and a liquor store. Speaking to other guests, it’s recommended to cab to Pier 1 and see sharks get fed, or take the banana boat which takes you along the coast for only $30 Overall it was well worth the price, there’s many return guests. Go there expecting the basics and you’ll be happy. Oh and bring your own snorkel gear, lots to see, maybe some water shoes as well. Also walk east down the beach to Banana bay between 10-2, you can walk way out on the water on sand bars during low tide.

Birthday trip
We spent a wonderful week at the Viva Fortuna Beach from November 15th to November 22nd. This hotel excels in personalized service and hospitality, making our stay truly memorable. 💖 The staff here truly goes above and beyond. We were generously given a free upgrade to an Ocean View Room, which was a fantastic surprise and instantly elevated our entire week. The view from our balcony was stunning! They also recognized my birthday with a thoughtful, personalized gesture. Upon arriving, we found a complimentary bottle of chilled champagne and a delicious fruit basket waiting for us. This attention to detail from the team was excellent and deeply appreciated. While the service was five-star, the rooms themselves are slightly older. We found our room to be very clean and well-maintained by the housekeeping staff every day, but the decor and furnishings were a little outdated. Despite this, the bed was comfortable, and having that beautiful ocean view made up for any minor aesthetic issues. Amenities: We especially enjoyed the beautiful, well-kept beach and the lively, yet relaxing pool area. Staff: Every staff member we encountered was friendly and helpful, from the front desk to the restaurant servers. Check-in and check-out were fast and efficient.

Worst Resort I Have Ever Been To
⭐ 1-Star Review Unfortunately, this was one of the worst resort experiences we’ve ever had. We stayed a week at Viva Wyndham Fortuna Beach, and it was far too long. Arrival: Airport transportation isn’t included and cost us $32 per person for a 15-minute ride. Our room wasn’t ready, and the “VIP” option we paid for seemed to mean nothing beyond skipping a line. Room: Outdated and poorly maintained — broken fixtures, dirty grout, thin walls, and a shower that swung between freezing and scalding. The room needed a deep clean. Service: Many staff members seemed irritated or uninterested in helping, even with simple questions. Activities: Most activities must be booked through an app that doesn’t work. Snorkeling gear was just masks, paddle-boarding was highly restricted, and bees were everywhere. Poolside activities were the only thing we enjoyed. Food & Drinks: Some of the worst we’ve had at a resort. The buffet was low-quality, the specialty restaurants were disappointing, drinks were watered down, and bottled water wasn’t always restocked. Feral cats wandered around inside the buffet. Cleanliness: Dirty hot tub, hard-to-get beach towels, and overpriced excursions. Safety Concerns: Safety was a huge concern for us. During our stay, other guests shared with us that there had been a serious incident involving someone being harmed just off the resort. While we didn’t witness this firsthand, hearing about it — combined with the overall lack of security presence — made us feel extremely uneasy and much less safe than we should at an all-inclusive resort. Overall, this resort was incredibly disappointing. We were told renovations are planned, but until they’re complete and safety and service clearly improve, I strongly recommend staying elsewhere.
