Nice place to getaway!
Wonderful time! Customer Service very good, buffet iffy... Standout workers included CHRISTIAN, ROBERTO, ALFREDO NORDY, ALBERT, MARCIEL, ESTEFANY, OSCAR, WISBERT MONICA, all were very nice, outgoing and professional. Shows were incredible, the entertainment crew works very hard to engage guests and they are talented and friendly.. ELECTRIC, CANDY, LA SOMBRA

OK hotel, great location
We stayed at the Viva Tangerine November 13 - 23, 2025. We were assigned room 3314 in the main building by the pool. This main building held the main buffet, bar, spa, customer service area, disco and theatre. The theatre was on the third floor, same as our room, so we heard people at night going to the theatre and leaving. Anyone with mobility issues would not be able to go to the theatre or the disco. We have never seen a layout like this, although it was noisy, it was convenient when the rain poured down. Pros - check in was quick and we were helped to our room - the location was walking distance to shops and restaurants - the beach and grounds were kept very clean - the AC in our room worked for the entire trip - the animation team stayed busy and involved interested individuals in daily activities - lots of chairs by the pool - there was a nutritionist on site that was available to talk to daily about healthy choices (this was a new program and a great addition - we have never seen this at a hotel before) - service at the bar was quick, even when there was a line up - fresh egg and omelette station for breakfast - cappuccinos - there were signs for the door to indicate if you wanted maid service or not - Mexican a la carte was great Cons We know we were there during a slower season so some of these cons may be due to that - repetitive menu at the buffets - quality of the food was also poor, you can find something to eat but it might be the same all the time - smoke from the kitchen blew up to our room every night, we often couldn't sit on the balcony due to the smell - alcohol was low quality, it made my husband sick even after 1 or two, so he stuck to beer the remainder of the trip - I broke a tooth on a piece of cheese pizza - we couldn't figure out what was in the pizza but it was something rock hard - there were renovations happening while we were there so the buffet was moved and much smaller than normal as well as the bar being moved for a few days. This also meant more noise at the pool area from power tools - it was difficult to book the a la cartes, because of the Reno's they were used as the buffet at night - "membership" sales people are always hanging around to chat and give you "deals" if you talk to them about membership, we didn't go to a presentation but saw people there for hours - our building was the only one with an elevator and it was out of service our whole trip Overall the resort was ok, we got what we paid for, which was not a lot. We ate off resort many times due to the poor quality of the food at the resort, the restaurants all had great food for a good price. The locals on the weekend livened up the place and meant the main buffet was open. We enjoyed the ocean view from our room and walking along the beach.

Great spot! Beautiful location
Viva Tangerine is a nice, intimate resort. Staff is friendly and the entertainment staff is tireless. We stayed in 2400 block on the first floor. Room was clean and water pressure and temperature was perfect. Buffet was more than adequate. Creativity is good for blending there. All items were hot. We thought there was a decent variety. Italian a la carte was our favourite. Our lower ratings go to bed quality. Older firm mattresses. Meh pillows. Bar alcohol. Only fabricated and flavoured options (tequila, rum, kaluha etc. No option to upgrade or purchase better. Have to be a club member. We got an amazing deal so took our own tequila. Bought some good rum and beer at the local store without much of a care. All in all, we plan to return next fall. Big pluses: gorgeous expansive beach with cool kite activity. Amazing, friendly staff. Great location to explore more of the area by foot.

Not a 4 star hotel. More like a 2.5 stars
The Beach was gorgeous, the pool was great, the staff is amazing and they even have a lovely dietician who goes around to talk to people. The food was good and varied. We had fun, but we are disappointed for being misled. We could have payed less for a 3 star hotel, but we took the decision to invest a bit more to have better conditions. Unfortunately that was not true. The infrastructure was not well maintained, the ceiling leaked into our room and we had rain on the floor and our beds. The staff was helpful and they found another room for us. For that we are thankful. The ceiling collapsed in several places on the third floor in the main building, particularly in front of our room and the balcony of the neighbouring room. The first room also didn't have hot water. The towels in the room had holes in them and some had dirty spots. The Beach towels also were worn out, some having holes. The main bar was closed for 4 out of our 7 day stay and our days were filled with dust and noise. We managed to have fun despite all of these issues, but we will not return.
