Oct 21, 2026A list of Pro's and Con's
The positives: - super close to the airport. - wasn't too busy, so getting a beach chair at 11am wasn't a problem. - front desk staff were very helpful. - no lineups. - restaurant food was better than expected. - room a/c worked very very well. - for the price, ($6000 for 5 people for 1 week) it was pretty good. The bad: - My biggest disappointment was by far the evening entertainment. It was unbearable. Very very amateur vibe. I didn't stay for more than 15 minutes the first 3 nights and then stopped going. Evening entertainment is something I look forward to at other resorts but this felt like a silly kids talent show. English was barely a part of it too, its very spanish based, so that may be a negative depending on who you are. - more dated rooms than we expected. - our shower leaked water out onto the bathroom floor (a lot) and it took 3-4 days for them to properly fix it. - room towels were never exchanged properly. Always some missing, bathmat missing, etc. Had to ask for more regularly. - Bit of a sewage smell in the bathroom now and then. Maybe a bad drainage trap. - beach waves were pretty big every day, its not a place where you can relax much in the water. Its just a spot to cool off. Not for actual swimming or snorkeling. - some staff members were way too loud and overbearing on the beach. They need to remember that people want to relax too. - beach vendors were everywhere all the time. Eventually they get to know you and realize if you're not there to spend money with them. But initially you'll be constantly offered massages and excursions and hair braiding and jewelry and sunglasses and beach hats and beach towels and beach wraps and pedicures and pictures with parrots and pictures with monkeys and..... you get my point. - its a 10 minute walk to the beach, but its the trail is a bit nice. Overall its pretty good honestly, but nothing is going to really wow you. Not sure i'd consider going back. The price would have to be really good.

The resort is small, we had an amnesia room which was beautiful and lots of space. A shout out to housekeeping who kept it clean and well stocked with towels & pop. There was only one pool which was ok because it is the slower season right now. There was also really only one bar at the resort by the pool, but the bartenders were great. There was a bar at the beach , the bartenders were miserable and unkind, so we spent most of our time at the pool.The food was ok, not great but pasta station was good, Michael is such a sweet young man who always looked after us. and a special mention Juan who was “jaun in a million” he went above and beyond to cut us up a mango for dessert in the Mexican restaurant because we were craving some fruit. The beach is about a 5 minute walk…very windy all the time but beautiful. The strength of this resort is its animation team. We made an effort to get to know them and once we did, they treated us family. We will always remember Speedy, Esther, Thomas, Marissa, and Ramirez you all are such special people who helped us make wonderful memories. You hold a special place in our hearts.❤️

The best entertainment team!
I had such a beautiful trip with my family at viva heavens puerto plata! The resort itself is quite small and underwhelming, with only one small pool, bar, and buffet. The walk to the beach was also a bit longer than I would have preferred (about 5-10 minutes), and the beach itself was too windy to relax on. Aside from the property/amenities, the staff (and especially the entertainment team) made it such a great experience. Big shoutout to Esther, Monica, Timeo, Tomas, Marissa, Aguja, Luna, and Speedy for making us feel at home during our stay. They are so kind, great at dancing, and facilitating activities! It truly made our experience unforgettable.

Super vacation
We spent a wonderful week at this resort ⛵. A beautiful beach ⛱️, cozy and clean room with comfortable beds, delicious food - everything you need for a great vacation!!! At the reception desk you will be met by attentive and professional Jennifer, Angel and JhoeneyCruz,who will solve your problems and questions in a matter of minutes. It's a nice start the day with a cup of coffee ☕ and smile from Luz Maria and Winston at the pool bar. Thanks for cocktails Aurilio and Jose. Very good impression from the Mexican 🌮 and Dominican restaurant. Thanks 👍 Francisco Captain!! A huge thank you to the entertainment team!!! Beautiful and wonderful show every night. Especially Libertango!!!! Bravo 👏!!! We can confidently recommend this resort to our friends and will definitely be back.
