Worst All inclusive resort I ever visited.

Rooms are outdated, Small space and horrible layout. The bathroom was so small you touched the walls trying to go. You could see in the shower from the bedroom. The room we were in wasn't family friendly if you ask me. I stayed at the Doubletree the night before because of a delayed flight. The room was way bigger. And cost the same we paid to stay there. Food reservations was ridiculous and you could barely find one. Then the buffet options were not good the food was not good nor were the options. Ended up walking down the street or taking Uber to get good food and service. If you want a pleasant vacation thats memorable dont stay here.

Beach and drinks bad, shows and pool great.

The bad: 1. The beach looks nothing like the pics because it is basically washed away. It is neglected with few chairs and tge seaweed has covered it. 2. The drinks taste terrible and do not give you a buzz unless you just drink beer. Good: 1. The shows were fantastic! The singers were as good as any famous ones we know. The acrobatics were amazing. 2. Tatish, the basic buffet restaurant had a good variety of food and the service workers were very good bringing coffee and fruit smoothies. 3. Main pool very beautiful and clean and huge so there was no crowding.

We thought the resort beautiful but we won’t return there

The property is beautifully landscaped and has a large, beautiful meandering pool. All of the large staff were pleasant and helpful. Cleanliness was quite good. Our room was roomy and basic. We were picked up at the airport gratis. The resort itself was very confusing due to its layout and unsuitable for handicapped guests. The hallways were extremely long. It isn’t laid out on a grid, there are many bridges to cross the pool, and the Cantina breakfast place is far from the resort center, which was difficult. Navigating the resort was difficult and the map provided was too small to be useful. Signage helped somewhat.

Cartel drug activity heavy on resort property

During my time at the Grand Oasis the rooms were subpar- if you have a first floor balcony be prepared for huge Peacock birds to poop everywhere on your balcony. The food and has no seasoning whatsoever nor is it of quality. The worse of my experience is the heavy activity of drug traffickers who are on the property daily trying to sell drugs to patrons. They identify themselves as cartel, I mean I was so scared I wouldn’t allow my family to leave the room after dark under no circumstances. During checkout my daughters flight was scheduled to leave ahead of mines and when she tried to leave to head to airport they accused my black child and even assaulted her making her pay money to leave the property before our designated check out time. This is my 8th time in Cancun, first at Grand Oasis. Never stay here there are many other properties and I have never seen adult or cartel activity at any other Cancun resort I’ve stayed. Please put your safety and family first choose a new resort to stay.

    Quite pleased with our stay

I'm actually shocked at the bad reviews this resort is receiving. Does peak/off-peak travel affect the stay/experience? We stayed the first week of August and had a great time, had no issues with cleanliness, staff hospitality, etc. All the bartenders across their many bars are great, very friendly. We drank mostly at the indoor bars, not the pool bars. The selection of food was excellent. I'll have to say the food is mainly 4 stars with the exception of breakfast at Maki Taco, the taco stand next to Cocoa, and Black Sens; those three are 5 star. The buffets are 4 star and Sarape is 2 star. Some of the other high end restaurants we didn't try, so I can't rate White Box, Careyes, Petit Chef, gastro... something. Didn't try those. Almost forgot! The coffee shop in the atrium/main bldg is top notch! Excellent coffees and service. The girls literally start to remember all your order particulars after the first few visits. Our hotel shuttle took us to and from the airport without incident. Our housekeeper was excellent and cleaned with zeal! We couldn't stop her from cleaning. The casino was a blast; I've never gambled before (nor had interest to) and this casino was great! We won a little bit of money on slots. The beach can be a little off putting to those who don't like seaweed but I grew up in a beach city. Seaweed doesn't bother me - I mean it's natural. Does everyone think all beaches naturally come like South Beach? The beach at this resort is small but I didn't really spend time at the beach so it didn't bother me any. It's a nice offering to have the weekly shows at the resort. Some of the shows in the atrium were very entertaining. For the record, we wore the black wrist bands. Does that matter?
