Peace, Love, and an Unforgettable Stay at Sonesta Maho Beach!
Our trip to St. Martin and stay at Sonesta Maho Beach All-Inclusive Resort & Casino was nothing short of amazing! From the beautiful beaches to the warm island culture, this was truly one of the best vacations we’ve ever had. Resort & Staff: The people on the island — especially at the resort — were some of the friendliest and most genuine we’ve ever met. Everyone was polite, helpful, and treated us like family. I wish I could remember everyone’s name to give proper credit, but a few truly stood out and deserve special mention. George (forgive me if I spelled it wrong!) was our personal trolley guide — he gave us a quick tour, shared tips on where to explore, and even made sure we got back to the front gate when it was time to leave. What a guy! Then there was Jenneal – my wife’s “sister from another mister!” She absolutely made our dining experience unforgettable. Her warmth and energy were infectious, and we looked forward to seeing her every day! There was also a bartender at the Point Pool with short brown hair – she made the BEST Long Island Iced Tea I’ve ever had (her own twist – legendary!). The Azul Restaurant staff was incredible too — funny, friendly, and full of personality. One even had me try his own creation: coconut bread with vanilla ice cream — trust me, don’t knock it ‘til you try it! And let’s not forget the woman who seemed to be everywhere working – full of hustle and great vibes! Keep getting that exercise, you’re amazing! At the Sunset Rooftop Lounge, a bartender made us custom shots and kept us laughing all night. The whole team made our stay feel special. Dining & Favorites: We found ourselves constantly drawn to Azul Restaurant, Sunset Rooftop Lounge and Bar (unbeatable ocean and sunset views), Pizzeria Napoli for casual bites, and Cloud 9 — which had the most breathtaking island view. These spots became our go-to hangouts! Activities & Exploring: We did a sunset jet ski adventure with champagne — watching the sun dip into the ocean from the water was a moment we’ll never forget. We visited Maho Beach to feel the thrill of jets flying overhead, explored Marigot and climbed to the top for panoramic island views and historic cannons, and wandered the beachside market in Philipsburg to soak in the local culture. Final Thoughts: This trip was filled with laughter, love, beauty, and connection. To the entire Sonesta Maho team — THANK YOU. I wish I could name you all, because you truly made our stay unforgettable. We left with full hearts, big smiles, and memories that will last a lifetime. If you're thinking of coming to St. Martin — do it! Come with peace and love, and you’ll leave with a piece of the island in your heart.

Terrible and amazing all rolled into one resort
We chose to stay at the Ocean Point because we love plane spotting and this is the ultimate plane spotting location in the world. I really don’t quite understand the reviews where people complain about the airplane noise - first of all the planes land and take off only between around 8am to 8 pm and secondly even the most basic research would have revealed that the hotel is right next to the airport and it could be noisy - it should be no surprise. Our check in was quite pleasant, it was fast and we were offered a nice cocktail while we waited for our butler to arrive and show us around. We waited for about 15 minutes until he arrived and then he took us to our Swim out Butler Sunset suite. The room itself was not too bad. The bathroom was large, with a great tub and large shower , and a double sided closet which could be accessed from the bathroom or the hallway. The access to the pool was fantastic and the view of the water and the planes landing were unbeatable. The bed was a little hard and the pillows were lumpy. The electrical outlets were behind the bedside tables so you had to pull them out to plug in your devices which was terrible. The tv kept cutting in and out the entire stat, so only a few channels worked well. The internet only allowed two devices at a time which was very annoying as we had to log in and out of our iPads, iphones, etc constantly. Although the website said the butler would contact us prior to arrival, we had not heard anything even 1 day before arrival so we had to send an email to Sonesta and only then the butler contacted us to ask about our choice of hard liquor and wine that were included in our room. It was convenient to have a glass of wine or cocktail in the room whenever you wanted. The AC had absolutely no problems while we were there , unlike some of the reviews I read here. However, the room smelled very musty and we had to get our butler to refill the diffuser several times. The only time the room smelled good was right after being cleaned - whatever cleaning solutions they used smelled great and really helped with the mustiness of the room ( for a short little while anyways ). The bracelet keycard was fantastic , I wish ALL resorts had this - no more stress about forgetting or losing your room key. The food was also not as expected. Some reviews said that the Ocean Point restaurants (Azul, etc) were amazing and that the buffet was ok, but I found the opposite. While the service at Azul was great , I really didn’t think the food was that great. The salads were the same everyday, they just threw in a different ingredient each day, like some quinoa one day, or some beats, etc - but it all tasted the same. One day I wanted to order the sablefish and they said they had tuna instead that day, which was exactly the same tuna steak as the buffet had the previous night. The desserts were also identical to the ones in the buffet , and also less choice than at the buffet. One day I had the scallops dish, and there was only 1 scallop - rubbery and tough. The Ocean Point restaurants were never crowded, but on several occasions the lineup for the buffet was so long that we gave up and went to one of the ocean point a la carte restaurants. One thing that we liked is that the breakfast was open until later than many resorts - 11 am - which was great. Although the resort guide said no reservations were required for the a la carte restaurants, one day they asked us if we had made reservations . Another day the buffet closed an hour early without any explanation. The Sonesta website also had conflicting information with the hotel guide they gave us when we arrived, such as the very confusing dress code, which nobody seemed to follow. I also had stomach issues on several days, which had never happened to me at any all inclusive resorts anywhere ( not Mexico , not Cuba, etc) . The service was very spotty , either fantastic or horrendous. Our main butler was great, but the backup butlers were terrible, it took them forever to get the most basic requests done. Some bartenders and other staff were downright rude while others were very friendly. The ocean point adults area never felt crowded which was great and we could always get a chair at any of the great pools they had. The gazebo massage was also a disaster. We had such high hopes for it since the setting was spectacular but the massage itself was subpar. The worst part was that they told us to come in our bathing suits which we did, but little did we know that we would have to keep them on during the oily massage. Both of our suits are now permanently oil stained - you owe us nearly $200 Sonesta! The entertainment is also pretty bad compared to other resorts. The rooftop lounges were decent, but again the service was either great or terrible - nothing in between. Our last impression was probably the worst one. We requested later check out if possible due to our late flight. The butler said that we could have an hour extension but that he wouldn’t know for sure until the day of checkout. So on the morning of departure we went to talk to the front desk and we were pleasantly surprised to find out from one of the agents there that nobody was checking in that day and for $100 which was a little steep, we could check out 2 hours later. We said we would go to our room and call them promptly with our decision, however when we called down right away we talked to a different agent who said it was impossible to get late check out even for $100 . When we asked why , she said that the butler had already told us the day before we could only get 1 hour later checkout and that they would accommodate us . We told her that her coworker said nobody was checking in, and for $100 we could stay 2 hours more , but she flat out refused and said WE were mistaken which was a complete lie . She was extremely rude and when we pushed and said someone is lying she warned us that everyone signed an agreement at check in to be respectful, etc and that we were in breach of contract for standing up to ourselves and accusing them of lying. What a way to end a great trip to St Maarten - shame on you Sonesta.

Much needed getaway
A little getaway was much needed. I researched and came upon Sonesta Ocean Point. I was excited to see it was adults only. However, this resort did have a family side as well. Where do I begin....I booked a rooftop butler suite. My butler was Ranjeet and Alex. I had many more dealings with Ranjeet, but Alex was pleasent too. He made sure we were good and always checked on us. Additionally, Ranjeet arranged our transportation back to the airport. Ranjeet made suggestions for dinner at Azul. When I tell you the service, food and view were simply amazing. We ate at this restaurant for dinner and lunch. The staff was very accommodating and friendly knowing us by name. The room was very clean and watching the planes take off and land, from the balcony, was exciting. The pools were very nice and obtaining loungers was not a problem. Nightly entertainment was fun and interactive. This resort and my butler did not disappoint. Sint Marteen and Sonesta Ocean Point is a vibe. Five minutes from the airport makes it even better. We will return to Sonesta Ocean Point.
