Absolutely heartless and uncompassionate people
We had to cancel entire trip due to 2 emergencies - family member urgent cancer surgery + dog in critical care fighting for his life. I asked if we could get full refund, they said no, not without medical certificate. They didn't care about my dog, who is like my cild, and I can get medical certicafe for im now, but they wouldn't allow refund without med certificate for my sis . I understand but t is highly insensitive time to be asking for this when the she is grieving and in shock about the diagnosis, preparing for surgery. I asked if they could instead allow us to use payment as credit to rebook later. They kept repeating "our policy is very strict" over and over again. I also got palmed off from the person I was initially dealing with. They said ok we'll extend by 3 weeks. It felt like a slap in the face, they are essentially saying you have 3 weeks to recover, we don't care. They said they can only extend 3 weeks due to renovations in Jan, so i asked what is stopping them from offering extension after the resort reopens. They said because the accounting must be reconciled at the end of year. We are suffering and potentially going to lose our loved ones and the reason they can't help is because it's too hard for their accounting. Their only job is to say "our policy is very strict" and want a confirm that we will cancel. We had no choice and within seconds the charge came through. For such a big brand resort, they have the smallest of hearts, absolutely no compassion and only care about money. BTW Westin Bora Bora, on the other hand, offered to reschedule for 1 year without asking anything else or putting extra stress on us. The Westin has been incredibly compassionate and kind and I'll never forget it. I'll also NEVER forget the way Sofitel has handled us.

Thank you to all that looked after us.
Beautiful location, beautiful people. Had breakfast included buffet lots to choose from. Over the water bungalows are good size, best beds, mini bar restocked daily part of the package, soft drinks, water and beer. Definitely worth staying there. Food and drinks available through out the day.

To be avoided
This hotel is to be avoided. For the price, this hotel has nothing luxurious to offer. The rooms are getting very old and you can see it. The housekeeping doesn’t come everyday even with the sign on the door and when they come they take the dirty towels and don’t even replace them with new ones. Tried calling the reception for more than 30 minutes - nothing. And when you go see them there are not more helpful. The breakfast and the food is really really basic/ not good. The grounds are dirty with towels, trash etc The location is good but that’s about it. Please save your money and go somewhere else.

Beautiful lagoon setting and lovely gardens, pale sandy beach.
The hotel is set in gardens on the edge of a perfect lagoon. Our overwater bungalow (superior) was spacious, comfortable and like all had its own steps into the sea. Powerful shower. Focus on green, eco products and recycling. Huge breakfast buffet array with the restaurants looking out over the lagoon plus an adjacent bar which does snacks and small meals as an alternative to the main restaurant. Helpful staff, pearl shop and boutique. Some water activities available. Small issues e.g. wear and tear in some areas, broken toilet lock and our luggage was not delivered to the room as promised until we walked down and asked.

Luxurious Resort on the Beach
My hotel in Mo'orea was the 5-star luxury brand of a French hotel chain. The Sofitel Kia Ora Mo'orea Beach Resort is a sprawling resort right on one of the nicest beaches in Mo'orea. My room cost an astronomical sum per night! I stayed in a "Luxury Bungalow Garden with Beach View". I had a terrace with a nice view of the beach. You can see Tahiti in the background. My room was very spacious and comfortable. My bathroom had a separate room for the toilet, a huge walk-in shower, and two sinks. I even had a FREE minibar. The overwater bungalows are even more expensive. My only complaint was the poor lighting at the desk in the room. I complained about this and soon maintenance stopped by with a lamp for the desk. On Wednesdays, they have a Polynesian Evening at their main restaurant. It began with a Polynesian buffet. First I helped myself to some of the various salads. My main course consisted of cucumbers, roasted vegetables, pickles, chicken, tuna, grilled lagoon fish, braised lamb, and rice with pickled ginger. Of course, I had to save room for desserts. I choose lemon sorbet, vanilla ice cream, rice pudding, lemon tart, and chocolate tart. Soon it was showtime. The Hirinaki group performed a variety of Polynesian dances. I enjoyed the show. Rise and shine! You can watch the sun rise over Tahiti from the restaurant. Then enjoy the breakfast buffet. They had a nice variety of items, including eggs/omelettes cooked to order.
