Disappointing stay- would not recommend
A last-minute stay at Secrets Moxché from December 26, 2025 through January 2, 2026 left mixed — and ultimately disappointing — impressions. The resort itself is undeniably beautiful, and the rooms are impressive. Unfortunately, that’s where the luxury experience largely ends. For a 5-diamond/5-star property with a five-figure weekly price tag, expectations around food and beverage quality were not met. Cocktails were consistently watered down, with frequent substitutions of well liquor unless guests explicitly monitored their orders. Bar service was extremely slow, often limited to one bartender serving dozens of guests, resulting in waits of close to an hour between drinks. Dining was another major issue. Restaurant wait times routinely exceeded two hours, only to be followed by underwhelming, flavorless meals. A tasting-menu dinner at Tedoro consisted of six small bites that were well below expectations and would have been frustrating had it required an additional upcharge. Throughout the stay, there were repeated upsells: $800–$1,000 per couple for a New Year’s Eve event, pressure to purchase add-ons during spa services, and limited eligibility for credits such as Amex FHR. Overall, the experience felt nickel-and-dimed rather than inclusive. At this price point, guests are paying for an elevated luxury experience, yet service levels — from bars to restaurants to room service and elevators — were consistently slow. Compared to other high-end trips taken multiple times per year, this was the weakest experience encountered at this level of cost. This resort may appeal to travelers who prioritize atmosphere, social activities, and unlimited access regardless of quality. However, for those seeking a true luxury all-inclusive experience with exceptional food, craft cocktails, and attentive service, this property is unlikely to meet expectations.

Secrets Moxché - Food and Service kill the luxury experience
We booked a last minute trip to Secrets Moxche Impressions from 26 December 2025 - 2 January 2026. The resort is absolutely beautiful and the rooms are phenomenal but that is where the luxury ends. With it being a 5 diamond / 5 star resort with a massive 5 figure price tag for a week, you would expect craft cocktails and high quality food. Literally every single drink is watered down so much it’s hard to get a buzz, they will sub wells alcohol if you aren’t specifically asking for something and you have to watch to make sure you’re getting what you’re asking for. We experienced two hour waits at the restaurants for flavorless food. Our stay included dinner at Tedoro which included six bites of food which was so ridiculously below average I would have lost my mind if I paid extra for it. They try to grift money for everything….they were charging $800-$1000 per couple for a New Year’s party, they tried to upsell oils at the massage, we tried using our Amex FHR credit for a food item and of course it’s not eligible. We are paying more on the impression side for a higher level of luxury and I kid you not that they have one bartender per 80 guests so you get served once per hour. The level of food and drink here was so insanely low we were shocked. Luckily, we go on these level of trips 3-4 times a year and this was by far the worst thing we’ve ever experienced at this price point. We felt so bad for folks who came here for a once in a lifetime trip for a honeymoon because this is definitely not the place for that level of experience. If you want to get hammered all day playing pool volleyball and don’t care what the food or drinks tastes like, this is a great place for you. If you’re expecting a luxury all inclusive with amazing drinks and food, you will absolutely get nothing close to that. I think this sealed the deal for my wife and I to never do an all inclusive again. You will literally wait for every drink, elevator, restaurant, and room service excessively.

4/5
The most amazing grounds of an all-inclusive that I’ve ever seen the lush cream, palm trees are scattered all throughout the resort. The architect of each of the restaurant and bars are very modern and clearly thought out. Be sure to know when booking that the beach is not great however, they have an enormous amount of pools to compensate. Which I knew prior to booking. The food is pretty good from all inclusive. I’ve tried all the restaurants there and we give the overall food rating an 8/10 compared to the other places that I have been. Me and my partner visited this resort and it exceeded our expectations. However, there is no kind of nightlife whatsoever. Spa music is continually played throughout of Resort 24/7. we were kind of going crazy by day 4, we wish they would play more authentic Mexican music even at the pool bars we were surprised that they were playing the spa like music. It’s good to relax, but I would leave that for the lagoon pool and maybe the cenote pools other than that everything was great. All in all I would recommend this Resort however being that me and my partner are 26 and 27 the only thing that it was missing was just a little bit more of a party vibe and we don’t really party too hard, but there was no aspect of that vibe. It was mainly wellness which is OK too, but I would just keep that in mind other than that like I mentioned before very luxurious resort.

Disappointing! Not worth the cost.
My adult kids and I, along with my daughter's boyfriend, spent our Christmas vacation here--4 guests in 3 rooms!--arriving later in the day on Christmas Eve. Upon our check-in as "preferred" guests (save your hard-earned money; the upgraded status was NOT worth it, as there were few tangible benefits), we were escorted to 3 rooms with the worst views on the property, despite paying extra for "Preferred Club." See the photo--our "ocean view" rooms looked out on this ugly, empty lot, and the "ocean view" was only achieved by craning your neck left. I immediately found the room unacceptable and let the bellman know (apparently this is not an uncommon occurrence with guests balking at these rooms). Went back down to the Preferred Club lounge, where they told me they could relocate us the next day, which they did, except for my son's room; he didn't want to pack up and move. First, I was paying for this vacation as a gift to my family and was so disappointed that these were the 3 rooms they initially gave us, especially as "preferred" guests. This immediately got things off on a bad note on Christmas Eve. We did move the next day to much better inward-looking rooms with a view of the resort and a slightly better "ocean view." As for those rooms facing the empty lot, which other travelers have complained about here, the resort should offer a significantly discounted rate if they expect guests to accept those rooms, which are laughably bad and frankly insulting to guests at an upscale resort. We tried to shake it off and headed to Seasoul for Christmas Eve dinner--what we hoped would be an elegant, oceanside dining experience as described. We tried to get dinner reservations before even arriving, wanting to have a special Christmas Eve and Christmas Day dinner, but were told we could not make a reservation (again, so much for "preferred" status). So we went to Seasoul, where they had an outdoor buffet set up instead, and we went around and gathered our food, the ladies in high heels and all of us nicely dressed. Not the elegant, sit-down experience I envisioned in light of their many restaurants. The restaurant experience didn't get any better after that. As mentioned, you cannot get a guaranteed reservation here, and it was so crowded that guests roamed around to the different restaurants, putting their name on a waiting list before the restaurants even opened. By opening time, every restaurant had 25-30 parties on the list already, with no real idea whether these guests were returning, etc. Several had empty tables, but noted they were being held for returning guests, which were apparently nowhere to be found. In short, their restaurant system was completely broken and frustrating for everyone--I heard many guests complaining that they also couldn't get into the restaurants. No wonder they have a taco truck in the middle of the resort; otherwise, guests would go hungry despite the 7-plus restaurants! On the final night, we made a reservation outside the resort, which we paid $$$ extra for, of course, but wanted to finally be assured of a nice, sit-down experience. The initial rooms, restaurant experience and food quality in general were my main complaints. The food we were able to access simply wasn't up to the caliber we expected, and 2 of the 4 of us were severely sick with what seemed to be food poisoning by the end of the trip. Speaking of, my daughter went to the lobby at 630 a.m. on the final day to get her sick boyfriend more water. Rather than just finding a couple of bottles to give her, they told her room service would have to bring it, which they did 2 hours later ... ridiculous!! The final blow to this expensive, underwhelming experience was that I could not get Hyatt points for this stay because I booked through a travel agent, one who assured me that she had been to the resort and that I would love it. Not the case! On the positive side, the grounds themselves (other than those rooms) are lovely, and the pools were not packed like the restaurants. Unfortunately, all these other factors outweighed the beauty of the resort. For me, the ability to have a nice, sit-down dinner every night was important, especially at Christmas time, and they completely undelivered in that regard. As far as the overall value of the experience, I would say it was worth about half what we paid for it. Considering all the lovely resorts and other brands in the area, I would not consider this Secrets resort a first choice, based on my experience. I did register my complaints several times while staying there to no avail. Toward the end of my stay, I was offered a generic card for 50% off to return to a Secrets resort--something I am not inclined to do, based on my second experience with a Secrets resort, neither of which met my expectations, especially in terms of the food experience. All around, it was a very disappointing experience, considering the cost and quality of the food/service.

Best Honeymoon!!!
Best Honeymoon Experience! We stayed at two hotels during our stay in Playa Del Carmen and Secrets Moxche blew the Fairmont Mayakoba out of the water. We can’t begin to say enough great things about this hotel, staff, food, pools, spa and just overall experience. Best all inclusive I’ve ever experienced. It also pays to be a preferred guest for some fun extra amenities, like a ritual spa or the rooftop pool. We are already looking at dates to plan our next trip back. Thanks for the best honeymoon!
