Currently I am at secrets- I’m pleasantly surprised it’s not as bad as some of the reviews that I have seen. One thing that has caught my attention though —we’re here because we’re avid scuba divers and when I went to get on the boat, they charged $10 each for me and my wife to walk to the boat on the pier that’s part of the hotel that’s like charging us $10 apiece to get into a cab in the driveway-unreasonable given the price paid to stay here.

Not worth your money or time
This is the most disappointing Secrets Resort. Do not book this Secrets. You'd be better off going to the Dreams or Sunscape next door. The Cozumel Secrets is outdated and very run down. I've been to the Secrets in Cabo and Puerto Vallarta, and this, well, there are no words to describe. The floor in our room was dirty. The sheets were only changed once. We only had a floor bathmat once and our shower leaked water all over the floor. We didn't get hand towels half the time. We never saw the pools being cleaned. The hallways were not swept and often had trash in them. Most drinks at the bar are served in plastic cups and only one bartender made decent drinks. I was served a warm espresso martini. The restaurants were decent but Ocean was only open to Preferred members for breakfast and lunch, which I did not see when I was booking. There is a swim up bar but it wasn't open. The only good thing about the pools were the slides. The beach was amazing! I'll give them that . I picked this resort for a family trip with my husband, adult children, and in-laws because I had such a wonderful experience at the Cabo and Puerto Vallarta Secrets. I felt terrible that I was the one who picked this resort for our family vacation. My husband said he'll never go to another Secrets and I think I'm with him.

great place
The resort was nice but some rooms needed updating. We were moved from a swim-up room to a beachfront and it was amazing. The first room was OK but not great. Some of the employees were wonderful—Elizabeth a new concierge was great as was Edwardo the manager. Kenia, host at Market-Cafe, remembered our name and room number, and Rosana and Ricardo…they made it so nice and personable. Some of the employees did not have the same hospitable spirit. We had a hard time with reaching the office ahead of time and the phone systems didn’t work in our room. The food was average—the French restaurant was by far the best and the soups everywhere were great. Snorkeling was really good and you could use snorkels there at no cost for 40 minutes. We had planned on diving but had colds so couldn't but it would have been perfect. I wish they had given instructions on getting there from Cancun—a shuttle ahead of time would have been best because the taxi drivers are not honest and overcharged and said the busses weren't working when they were. The ferry is easy and getting back was much cheaper via taxi than getting to the ferry from the airport—schedule transfers ahead of time. The resort felt very safe. Take water shoes—beach great but some rocks in areas (good for snorkeling).

Moldy and needs tile work. Restaurants selection limited. Would never recommend preferred and way over priced non-prefer
Room smells like mold and sewer gas. Needs alot of work. Not a 5 Star. Very glad we didn't upgrade to preferred as talked to some that did and they were even more disappointed. Restaurants limited selection and some staff not at all accommodating when asked to seat us out of the sun for dinner.

Great Stay Overall
Staff was friendly, attentive, oriented to details, very kind in general. Resort needs a little bit of an upgrade to some areas and room furniture but overall the experience was fantastic!! Food has its goods and bads. Speciality restaurants were good but there was always something that could be better to make an exceptional experience... Beach area is amazing!!!
