Already planning a return trip!
My apologies for such a lengthy post, but I really felt I needed to share our experience. I was very nervous about booking this resort after reading so many negative reviews, but we went ahead anyway for our girls’ getaway from January 8–15. If you’re thinking of booking this resort, do it! Don’t let the negative reviews scare you off. Our group of five (ages 53–62) from Canada stayed in the Select Adults Only area, and we had a wonderful time. The rooms were clean, the beds were comfortable, and the fridge was stocked daily with drinks. There was also a TV, coffee maker and a bottled water dispenser in the room. At first, I thought my fridge wasn’t working, but it just needed to be plugged in. I was really hoping the monkeys would visit my patio, but no such luck. Honestly though, we spent very little time in our rooms. The monkeys did, however, visit the adult pool daily, which was so much fun to watch! Just remember: no matter how cute and tame they seem, please DO NOT FEED THEM. It can make them sick, and they may bite. The adult pool was my happy place - so relaxing. We were always able to find chairs or beds without any trouble. The Fogo de Brazil restaurant is located right by the pool, and you can order drinks and food while lounging. The staff were incredible! It amazed me how they remembered everyone. My favourite was Guadalupe, my “Sandos Lady”, who was absolutely wonderful. The Sandos cocktail became my go-to drink, right alongside their margaritas. While the Adult Select beach wasn’t the nicest beach I’ve been to, it was still worth every penny. There was lots of sand, but the water was rocky, so water shoes are a good idea if you plan to go in. The family beach was busier, but it had softer sand further out into the water. I also highly recommend getting a massage on the beach - you can't beat an hour for $35 US. The Adult Select side has beach waiters and a great menu, which was a nice bonus. The food was actually pretty good. I’m fairly certain we tried every restaurant, including all the à la cartes. The Taco Bar wasn’t my favourite; it was a bit bland with a limited selection, but the other restaurants had lots of variety and were really enjoyable. Booking the à la cartes through the app was a bit tricky, but we kept checking and were able to get reservations. I’d also suggest just showing up and asking if they have a table available. Bugs were minimal. The only time I got bitten by mosquitoes was during the Eco Tour on the property. Be sure to bring money for tipping - I carried both Pesos and USD, and both were accepted gladly. Check-in and check-out took about 1/2 hour. If you do have to wait, grab a drink and snack from the Elephant Bar and enjoy the surroundings. I’m sure it could feel more stressful with little kids, but just remember, you’re on holidays! So, would I go back? Absolutely, without hesitation!

Would not recommend
Check in was very slow--not enough staff working the desk. We had 6 adults and were put on the family side not the adult side of the resort. We then had to pay to get a gold bracelet to go to the adult side without getting a room over there. We had rooms with a queen and bunk beds with sewer flies in the bathroom. The resort itself is enormous so bring your walking shoes. Dinner reservations are through an app so good luck with that--we got nothing. The kicker was that our flight out was cancelled due to snow at home. We asked about getting a room for one more night and they said it was $850 per couple for an additional night. I said we have 21 people scheduled to return 4/5 to 4/10 and I am going to cancel them all and they would not budge on the $850 rate. We took a cab and moved to the Grand Sunset Princess and I just had my travel agent cancel our April reservation for 9 rooms! I hope they learn not to price gauge folks! Customer Service is King!

Simply the best
We’ve been here over 15 nights and the hygiene and Cleanliness has been really good, food so much and I’ve never met a resort with so much to do and the amount of work behind the scenes to do so much to cater and entertain everyone, the staff are really friendly, this resort is the best very family friendly.
