Nice Resort, But...
Salterra has done a fabulous job with their remodel. I can’t imagine how much they have spent to transform the former East Bay Resort, which we visited about four years ago. The new facilities are very nice and the management and staff are incredibly friendly, attentive and helpful. Our arrival reception was warm and professional. The Carib and tribal aesthetic the owners have chosen is very tasteful and well done. The pools are stunning and the spa is very nice. Some of the excursions are very worthwhile, especially the Jerry’s Camp kayaking. The new non-stop flight from Miami makes the trip much easier than before. Having said all of that, there are several areas that I wish the resort that could be improved upon. First of all, making advance reservations for diving and snorkeling was somewhat of a hassle. Lots of back and forth and I was told that several days and times were unavailable and then discovered later when on site that there were actually plenty of openings for both. The additional 27% added taxes and service charges on absolutely everything adds up and will make your stay much more expensive. Salterra is somewhat isolated from the town and there are very few options to eat outside the resort. The food selection at the resort is fairly limited and the lack of variety is noticeable by the end of the trip. If you want to go to the Sailrock Resort the road is unbelievably rough and will rearrange your organs. I would not recommend the trip in a regular car. Once there the leeward beach and bar are gorgeous. They charge $150/pp for the day however. The Salterra beach is okay. The water clarity is not great and there are no coral structures for any fish, so forget about snorkeling. Sargassum will always be a problem here because of the predominant wind direction. It also makes the water more murky. It would be nice if the resort had paddleboards, kayaks and Hobie Cats for guest use. As many of the other reviews stated, the kids tend to take over the main pool area. This is true and the constant noise of kids screaming makes it hard to relax. The room was nice, but the noise from the above unit was unbearable at times. Mosquitos in the morning and at night are terrible. I asked the staff about it and was surprised to hear that they do nothing to mitigate it. This definitely needs to be addressed as sitting outside is impossible much of the time. The diving can be good if it is not too windy. Unfortunately, we were stuck on the same two sites all week. I was also quite disappointed that the dive master would not allow dives past 80’. I presented my PADI OW, as well as both my NAUI and SSI dive instructor credentials and their response was that since I did not have advanced PADI certification they would not allow dives past 80’. Never heard that one before. Shout out to Capt. Dwayne who added a lot of local knowledge and color while on the boat. In conclusion, Salterra is very nice, but it not this is not a resort for couples that enjoy any nightlife. The restaurants and bar shut down around 9:00 pm and everyone retires for the evening. That is fine most nights, but it would be nice to have the option of some entertainment occasionally. For the money, there are many other better options in the Caribbean.

Four great days on South Caicos
An all inclusive resort with enough activities to fill up your day or just to relax and chill out. Plenty to do for couples or family. Staff very attentive. Accommodations were spacious and first class . Three restaurants with very different offerings on the resort with a few local options nearby. Ice cream and pastry shop along with extra bars and even a food truck also at the resort. Full spa facility and several pools with plenty of seating and cabanas both at the pools and along the white sand beach.

A Slice of Paradise on South Caicos
My husband and I had a fabulous stay at Salterra. Truly one of the most perfect vacations. The staff was warm and welcoming from the moment we arrived, and that continued through the stay. From Phillippe and Rose and all the staff at the restaurants to Vishnu the yoga teacher and Tony who was always around when we needed something or had a question. The rooms were huge, with a view of the ocean. We appreciated the efforts they made with sustainability as well. We had massages at the spa, which was lovely, and did a snorkeling trip with the Adventures team. I would 100% visit this paradise again!

Sunshine & serenity on South Caicos
Lovely property; we stayed for 3 days in a spacious 1 bedroom suite. Resort has a very expansive pool area & lots of loungers, which made up for the beach - the time we were there in Dec, a lot of seaweed was being raked. Likely changes through the year, depending on wind and storms. The water is shallow & safe to enter though. Food & drinks very good. We had a variety of breakfasts, lunches and dinners in different locations, plus poolside, and our group of 4 enjoyed all of them. Had very good massage at the spa too, and our butler (Lawrence, I think) was very attentive & helpful.
