This is quite possibly the worst check in processed I’ve experienced in my life. After waiting in a long line that moved incredibly slow to check in we completed all paperwork and were told to return in 40 minutes for our room key. We grabbed dinner and returned an hour later. The person at the front desk called multiple people over to sort something out, disappeared for long periods, and it took 35 minutes to get our room. This was the last thing we wanted to deal with after having our flight cancelled. I expected a lot more from a Marriott property.

I will try and be as objective as possible. We recently spent 10 days at the Royalton Splashes Cancun and there is lots to talk about. Let’s get the ugly out the way and focus on the positives. Ugly After eating dinner at the Hunters Steakhouse on our third night, my wife got violently ill with food poisoning. Nothing could stop the exodus of fluids for 6 hours and we both experienced things we had shielded each other from over 12 years of marriage. Both kids threw up the following night. And the following day, our eldest was struck down with the same illness. Violently ill for 10 hours. According to other groups, they all knew someone who had gotten sick from the food. After 10 days, I was the only one in my family that made it through unscathed. Bad Some of the nightly entertainment was ok but more in the good section. The famous “White Party” was a bit of a let down and I was really looking forward to it. The food at buffet was really tasty but most of it was luke warm. The hotel hallways are very noisy and you hear the room service carts squeaking away long before they get to you. Also, it being a family centric resort, you can hear kids waking up from 6:30. Nothing you can do about it. The Mayan dinner experience was a bit of a let down - very expensive for what you get. The tube rides are fairly aggressive for young kids (8-10). Good. I know I have painted not the best picture but let’s get to the good. The resort is great and easy to get around. Everything is clean and when you request something, like housekeeping, they showed quickly and worked efficiently. The staff are phenomenal and made this trip. We booked a cabana for a few days to avoid having to wake up early to get lounge chairs. The crew that looks after the Cabanas (Israel, Andreas, Kevin and Sandy) were amazing and would go out of their way to make sure you were looked after. After one of the staff (Brenda in Bookings) heard that my family was sick, she immediately reported it to Guest Services and we had a doctor at our door in 30 minutes. She constantly checked in on us and went out of her way to ensure that we as good as we could be while dealing with the illnesses. The food at the buffet is very tasty and so many options to choose from. Some of the nightly entertainment was exceptional with the African Show being the absolute best. Crazy what those guys can do. Daily entertainment around the pools was also fun with violinist foam party being so much fun. If we did not have the food poisoning incidents, this would have been an amazing vacation. Even with this negative part of the holiday, the whole family still rated it as a 6.5-7 and would have been a 9 if we had all stayed healthy. I hope you have a great holiday.

Jan 26, 2026An Amazing Resort That Didn’t Disappoint!
This was our first time in Mexico and first time at this resort. Being a 5 star all inclusive resort, it sure didn’t disappoint! The service was excellent. The staff were wonderful very, very friendly. The resort itself was spotless! No long lineups, even though there were a lot of people booked. Lots of activities and entertainment. The variety of food was wonderful and endless. Our room was beautiful, and our oceanfront view from our balcony was truly amazing! We really couldn’t complain. There were three huge gift shops on the property with endless souvenirs. If you have mobility issues, it’s very easy to get around the way everything is laid out. The drive time from the airport to the resort is 20 minutes, nice and close. We definitely would go back and highly recommend this resort!!

AMAZING GYM!
Omg! The gym is a FULL Gym! The staff was super nice and accommodating! The gym even has a SMITH MACHINE! Don’t skip your workout it’s worth it!

Overall a pretty good place, a few more buffet options would have been okay but all in all still pretty good. Luis in the lobby bar on the Left and Jesus at the beach bar along with Paola are very very good too! Definitely make time to get some drinks from them during your stay. Their service is definitely 10/10
