    Staff made it special!

    The staff members are so nice, especially Victor Vidal, Astrid Nava, Nelson Kalixto, Julio Aguilar and Adryana Reygadas! They made my stay extra special with helping with reservations, making sure my room was perfect and checking with me to make sure I was ok! I traveled on this trip for my nephew’s wedding and if you are thinking of hosting your wedding here, don’t hesitate! We had a group of 70 people and they have a wonderful setting! Thank you to all that made it special! The only downside was the smell from the mangroves, but that is beyond the hotel’s control. I was not used to having to make reservations as my other AI didn’t require that, but it was manageable. I was Diamond Club in building six. My room had a beautiful ocean view and the beach is nice and water good to swim in. Some areas do show some age, but it appears there is work on updates. Thank you to my friends at the Royalton!!

    Wonderful Experience

    The location has been very enjoyable. One particular employee, Juvenal, has helped us with exemplarly service multiple years in a row. He introduced us to some new beverages and was a wonderful guide and bartender both this year and last. We really appreciate his help and bartending skills. He is very friendly and kind, a gentleman and a scholar, and we will tell tales of his signature drink to friends and family for years to come. Search him out and ask for a Mexican Candy, then chat with him for a bit, you will not be disappointed.

    We have enjoyed our stays at the Royalton Riveria. In particular, Juvenal provided wonderful service and made us feel like family. We have many fond memories from this trip and our previous visits. If you see him, ask him for a "Mexican Candy."

    Disastrous Experience at The Royalty Riviera Cancun

    Disastrous Experience at The Royalty Riviera Cancun We are long-time loyal Marriott guests and Gold Elite members (410642644), and have always loved the consistency, quality, and service of Marriott properties. Unfortunately, our recent stay at The Royalty Riviera Cancun was an absolute nightmare from start to finish. We chose this property for a special family vacation, planned to celebrate my 44th birthday and 17th wedding anniversary, and extended it to include the Thanksgiving holiday. What we expected to be a memorable and enjoyable trip turned into a health hazard and constant frustration. Major Issues: Health and Sanitation: My entire family became extremely ill during the stay and will need medical attention upon returning home. The hotel’s hygiene standards were appalling, with dirty bathrooms showing visible stains on walls, floors, and toilet seats. Bottled water was not readily available, which further contributed to the health concerns. Unmet Accessibility Needs: Despite booking this trip seven months in advance and requesting a low-floor room due to my lumbar spine disability, this simple accommodation was ignored. Unresponsive and Poor Service: When we reported our concerns to staff (specifically Roberto), follow-up was minimal. He either ignored our messages or said he was unavailable due to being off-duty. Out of desperation, we reached out to Bonvoy’s Facebook account, which responded quickly but failed to resolve any of the issues. Smoking Policy Violations and Environment: Despite being advertised as a non-smoking property, smoking was rampant poolside. We have photos of guests being served drinks while chain-smoking, which made it impossible to enjoy fresh air as we tried to recover from illness. The pervasive foul smell throughout the property made our stay even more uncomfortable. What We Expected vs. Reality: We selected this property because of its designation as a Marriott Autograph Collection hotel, expecting it to embody the artistic and cultural standards Marriott is known for. Instead, this hotel fell drastically short of Marriott’s reputation, with substandard facilities, poor communication, and unsanitary conditions. Recommendation: I strongly caution anyone considering this property to reconsider. We’ve stayed at many Marriott hotels worldwide and have never experienced anything remotely as bad as this. Marriott needs to reassess whether The Royalty Riviera Cancun deserves to carry its name.

    Jose and Josh vibe crew!

    The staff were all great but a very special shout out to Jose and Josh from the vibe crew who made our stay very fun and memorable! They were very personable and were able to get everyone joining in and having fun! They were the highlight of our vacation!
