  Good trip

  We had Adonis Almonte as our butler and he was great. He was always available when we needed him. He was kind and knowledgeable about the resort.

  Visit to the hotel clinic

  I just wanted to quickly share my experience of visiting the hotel clinic. I scratched my foot before going on holiday and unbeknownst to me, it got infected. The infection flared up while I was at the hotel and I visited the hotel medical clinic. The clinic is open 24 hours a day and the doctor is either in or can be quickly called from the reception desk. I was attended to by dr. Ubiera who was very friendly and spoke good English. He examined me, treated my foot and gave me an antiseptic cream which helped improve my condition within the next two days. That allowed me to enjoy the rest of our holiday.

  Horrible service at front desk and dinning

  Honest I’m Review of the royalton Check in was a NIGHTMARE! We arrived around 2:30pm at check in with my family and we were told the rooms were not ready and to check back at after 3. We decided to go eat and at around 3:45 -4 we went back to check in and still were told the room was not ready. Finally at around 4:30/5 the rooms were ready. We had paid to choose our rooms and they told us that one of the room we have a confirmation for is not the room they have on file. We showed them the confirmation and they said there is nothing they can do. The reason why i had paid for both rooms to be closer is because i needed my parents to be closer but they said nothing they can do and to try again tomorrow. We asked if we can have a crib in the room during check in they said oh yes it will already be in the room. By 5pm when we got the room . No crib. So o called and asked for one and If we needed to be in the room. They said no. We went to dinner and the show they had and 9:30 no crib. So o had to call again and asked where’s the crib they said i never requested one. 🤦🏻‍♀️. I told them i requsted it this morning . They said i could not have. I said during check in i requested it and someone told me it would be in the room. I requested on the 2nd time around and finally the 3rd time i got my crib at 9:30pm. The very next day we went to the front desk and they said they have a room in the same building as us but my parents would need to check out now and bring their stuff to my room. I asked if we can expedite the cleaning of the new room - they said no. So my parents were letting with NO room from 11am - 5pm because the rooms were not ready. They said there is nothing they can do about that. For dinner service we got a reservation at the steakhouse. They tried to take out orders but then half the orders were missing. We also had 2 kids and 1 infant with us and they were hungry. After our excursion we took a golf cart back to our room and my husband falls into metal grate and gets a huge gash from it. The metal grate was covered but when he stepped in it it fell in. This should not have happened as most kids would try to step on something like that. In terms of the staff they were decent. In terms of check in - HORRIBLE! In terms of space everything was good. Pools and beach were super busy and the food was good. I can’t say i loved my experience but the staff did say they are changing into a new system. But honestly i would not go back to this resort.

  Skip Diamond- not a bad stay- but was better previously

  Well- we had visited this property about 3 years ago and it was pretty fresh and clean at that time but….. unfortunately they have not maintained the rooms or bathrooms as well as they should. You definitely see a lot of wear in the rooms - areas where repairs were made. Chips and rust here and there. Upon arrival we had a broken lock on sliding door and bathroom door would not close and toilet was leaking. They did fix promptly but quality control is definitely lacking. The food was good and all staff was very nice! Don’t bother with paying extra for diamond- the only benefit was dinner reservations we did not have to worry about but the check in is long- the butler is more like a concierge- not butler. The beach chairs are the same - the pool is nice but small. Coffee shop was good! And staff was good- just need to invest in maintenance. Have stayed at the other Royaltons - this is the best in Punta Cana because it’s smaller and newer.

  Serious illness

  ⭐ 1-Star Review – Would Not Recommend I would not recommend this hotel based on my very distressing experience. Just three days into my holiday in November, I became extremely unwell with severe diarrhoea and was admitted to hospital for two days. I am now over a month on and still recovering from a serious bacterial infection as a result of this illness. The situation was made even more upsetting by the response from the TUI representative. Rather than offering compassion or support, they were dismissive and rude, and tried to say it was gastroenteritis,” which was proven to be untrue with my discharge notes from the hospital . At a time when I was frightened and seriously ill, I felt completely let down. Hygiene standards are also a major concern. During our stay, we saw a rat running around near the burger van, which is completely unacceptable and raises serious questions about food safety and cleanliness. The rooms was not cleaned. Regularly dirty plates was left for days in the hallway. We visited this hotel to 2 years ago and the standards have definitely fallen unfortunately . My daughter even found hair in the coleslaw she was eating I would not trust the food or the water in this resort bottled water seemed to be very limited and they would rather give you it in a cup . I wasn’t the only person unwell as when I went to see the doctor for a fit to fly certificate there was another two people with the same symptoms. What was meant to be a relaxing holiday turned into a traumatic experience that has affected my health long after returning home. I strongly advise others to think very carefully before booking this hotel.
