Love this resort the people that work there are very warm and welcoming! The rooms are spacious and very clean The whole resort was kept spotless. Food was good only complaint I had was it wasn’t very warm most times. The entertainment team was awesome they had something going every day. The beach was beautiful! The pools were lovely although the first day it was like an ice bath but as the week went on it got better. The monkeys were just an awesome bonus (it was the reason I picked this resort ) we got to see them everyday and they made my day. It was well worth the money we paid and we will definitely be returning as long as the monkeys are still there .

Positive -good beach ,amazing see,animals . Negative I am member of Riu last 15 years ,this hotel has renovation 12 years ago -everything is shaking in room ,old and sometimes does not work ,food -basic and not any special, you go Italian or other restaurants same deserts and food ,isian sucks ,washrooms on the beach ,need find stuff ask toilet paper or fix flush in toilet . For Riu hotel it is shame ,in general does not worst money what you spent-my suggestion-Riu Palace,Riu Rivera Maya, Riu Cancun ,Riu Caribe.,etc.

Lovely hotel , staff some not all ) mainly male workers at lobby bar ) slip the tips in their pockets instead of the jar
Rooms clean , don’t listen to negative reviews & why would a scratched skirting board bother you while on holiday Manager prefers to stand around looking good Anything we asked for at reception we got almost immediately. Great choice of pools , beach great just be careful if you’ve young kids keep an eye out as a lot of drugs being sold Food was so so but I’m not complaining I didn’t starve , Italian I would avoid Betty at lobby bar by far the nicest and happiest staff member

Thank you Gustavo at Riu Yucatan!
My 5 star review is especially for the fitness instructor, Gustavo, and the energy he brings to the resort..He made all the fitness classes great workouts, and so much fun with his very unique and charismatic personality. He had us all laughing and finding joy in the activities..I was staying quite a distance away at Riu Palace Rivera Maya and went to Riu Yucatan just for his classes. On this visit and my prior trip the year before, I had access to all 5 of the Riu resorts in Playa del Carmen and tried classes in each hotel, but Gustavo's were the most outstanding. I would say that the overall.energy at Riu Yucatan is the liveliest of all the Rius in that neighborhood thanks to Gustavo and the other entertainers. Due to level of action at Riu Yucatan, I didn’t find it to be as clean as the others, but in my opinion, it's the most fun! .

Fab food, location, service - Don’t hesitate to book, you won’t be disappointed!
Much safer than Cancun - and a million times better…Utterly fabulous - we would definitely return! If you’re looking for a place to escape to, with excellent food, fabulous service, in an environment with lots of greenery, wildlife, monkeys, and beautiful beachfront walks..this is your hideaway. This is the perfect place to come to recharge your batteries. The beach is absolutely beautiful. The water is clear, the ambience is lovely. The pool can be loud, but there is an Ibiza style pool which is much more chilled. Our room was overlooking this pool which was really nice if you don’t have children with you it’s quiet. We got a taxi from the hotel to 5th Avenue which is great and feels really safe. We did the Xplor park which was absolutely brilliant!!!! Yes - the bedrooms are in need of refurb. Everything else is perfect. If you book knowing this, you won’t be disappointed. I hope Riu don’t change this beautiful, unusual, calm, Relaxing, tranquil haven into a party hotel. Keep everything as it is, just refurb. A true reflection of A Riu hotel.
