Oct 28, 2026Shocking..Be Warned
From the moment we arrived to the moment we left we found this hotel to be the worst Riu, in fact the worst hotel we have ever stayed in. Check in staff were extremely rude, argumentative (even amongst themselves), unprofessional and generally not interested. Do not expect help with your luggage. The elevators to the 10th floor don’t work. The room albeit large was dated and incredibly noisy throughout our 3 nights with what we think is an aircon unit on the roof blasting out all night long. The curtains don’t close completely so light streams in at dawn. Grout loose and missing in floor tiles. A small cup of beer cost $9. Breakfast was something to behold and was just a mass free for all ruckus. Very poor choices for anyone with lactose allergy with according to the restaurant manager a policy that involves swapping out on a daily basis types of milk available, for instance oatmilk available one day but swapped with soy milk the next. She was probably the rudest senior member of staff I have ever come across. Some of the food was burnt beyond recognition, disgusting. If you sit outside at breakfast this hotel has deemed it acceptable to allow flocks of birds to walk all over your table, your food, deficate around you, eat your food. An absolute health hazard and it won’t be long until they have a serious illness complaint on their hands. Seats in the lobby are filthy. Now, considering they charge a resort fee of $33 on top of what you’ve already paid it would be remiss of me not to mention what that gets you….. well if it’s beds at the pool you’re looking for then no you don’t get that if you’re passed 9am. If it’s a decent gym you’re looking for as part of that unwarranted extra payment then you’re out of luck as it’s full of super cheap unfit for purpose equipment, it’s small and you can’t even lift a weight above your head. On checkout, same uninterested treatment without a thanks in sight, never mind ‘how was your stay?’… if they had asked maybe this review wouldn’t have happened. Be warned…. We will never be back and will probably never use Riu again on the back of this stay and as year round travellers that’s a loss.

Jesus in breakfast service was excellent, very polite, helpful, and extremely friendly. He always had a smile on his face, made breakfast service that much more enjoyable.

Oct 21, 2026Very nice location and outdoor area, but outdated rooms
This hotel is perfect for off season. The beach and chair service is great as long as you are there by 10 a.m. The buffet breakfast is worth it if is included in a package. The dinner buffet is not worth the cost or anything special compared to places to eat nearby. The internet service is satisfactory, but the rooms are very worn. There is peeling paint (particularly in the bathrooms) and the floors are older. The positive is the sinks are located outside of the toilet/shower area. The beds are nothing special compared to American hotel chains. The elevators are extremely slow during peak times. The staff was all nice and the small pool area is perfect for off season. I would image during season, if this place was fully booked it may be a negative experience. We were there in October.
